HELP?! SPB Shell crashed HD2 - Windows Mobile Apps and Games

So I downloaded SPB Shell 3.5 today. Installed it after I deactivated Sense on my WM6.5 HD2 Leo. Thought ok, looks nice, but I was not not really satisfied. I just wanted to uninstall it as my Leo started to do weird things. Now it shows the SPB today page, but on any next level I get the touch screen does not respond, the physical buttons don´t work and I am stuck. No way to get to the WM settings screen, no way to uninstall SPB Shell crap. After a soft reset still the same. Hardreset is no option cuz my laptop is in RMA right now and I can´t manage backups.
Any help? any suggestions?
Dear admin, if this is not the right section, move it pls and be forgiving.

Solved
I deleted the SPB shell program folder using active sync on a lend laptop. The system was still messed up then but I could manage to do a contact backup with mylookout (free antivirus/backup/firewall for PDAs and cells) which I installed previously. Then I made a hardreset using the volume and power buttons.
Solved.

Random Freeze on HTC Athena X7500 WM6

Hi guys
I've been facing since I bought my HTC Athena irregular freeze everyday.
I upgraded the Device to WM6 the next day I received it, it went very soomth with my applications installed.
However, the freeze appear very randomly, it could be while launching a new program, or playing backgammon, sometimes after device wake up, also once when received an SMS.
A very weird behavior also, is that sometimes I need to soft-reset 3/4 times in a row to get passed the HTC and the Windows Mobile splash screen.
For info, the soft-reset is not necessarly done after a freeze ....
I decided to start this new topic in order to see if other people are facing same symptoms on their Athena, and to share our experience together.
Cheers
Hope you run Oli's SPL Unlocker/patcher...

Sorry no such problems here, but did you run Olipro's SPL patcher/Unlocker before flashing thee ROM? I know tupsindin released a few WM6 ROMs a while ago that could be flashed without CID unlocking your X7500, but Olipro's Unlocker will make your device unbrickable.
If you have already done this, try flashing the new WM6 Dopod U1000 ROM seems very stable to me with no issues so far and slightly snappier than the other WM6 ROMs.
Thks mackaby for your reply
I did unlock it via the UK website I found on XDA forum, sorry but can't remember the name (soemthing IMEI), so I did that then flashed with the WM6 ROM ver 2.20.405.1
Im doing some more testing
what is really annoying is that I need to do 4/5 soft reset very ofently in order to pass by the HTC/Windows Mobile splash screen
I just bought my HTC Advantage X7500 with WM6 already installed and I have lock up issues if I have auto shutoff enabled it will not start backup after a auto shut off I keep using the reset to get it back up. When it is up I just disabled the auto shut off and now have no problems.
Im not having same pb as you, but I saw on one thread on XDA forums that people having that problem fixed it by assigning a the turn on/off device to a hardware button. and apparently it fixed their problem.
Try that and it must fix it for you

Hi,
I have encountered in the past this problem, and I observed that it was happening after I installed HTC X-Button v1.5, and it was even worse after HTC X-Button v1.51.
Later on, a new version was published, and it works flawlessly since. The exact file is HTC X-Button v1.51 build 30229.
Hope you have same issue. Good luck,
Zohar
Thks zoharbl for you reply
I don't have HTC x-button
For now, I found an alternative with Running Pocket Hack Master at 663 Mhz, and I modified the sequence for startup processes using SKTools putting Pocket Hack Master as #1 in the order, Wisbar Advance 3 as #2, SPB Diary as the last one and Norton Antivirus just before the last one.
I noticed that SPB Diary is slowing down a bit my device, and specially after a reset, this is because I created custom tab adding plugins inside this tab such Phone Alarm, SPB Weather and Resco Explorer Plugin ...
I tried many config, and found out this one works the best for me, the device is resetting with less then 30 sec without any hanging anymore.

Really interesting comment. I have original WM5 configured UK Ameo and have always experienced random crashes. After reading this, I looked again at my settings and found the X-button configured - I don't need it as I use the same functionality from Wisbar. Turned it off and it hasn't crashed since.

Hi there BigDede
Don't know if this will help...
Even since before I have upgraded to WM6 I have had problems similar to yours. At the time I had WA3 and WAD installed as well as Spb Weather, Spb Diary and certain parts of Pocketplus. I did a trail and removed all software from Spb and Wisbar and everything worked perfectly. In the meantime I have now only added Spb Mobile Suite and use iLauncher on my today screen together with the plugin from Resco Explorer - no more problems!
It seems to me that some of the above software have compatibilty issues with the U1000/Athena/Ameo (whether wm2005 or wm6 makes a difference I don't know).
Cheers
Thks Superdawie for your reply, you are right, I was suspecting Wisbar, SPB Diary abd phoneAlarm to be the origin of my problems.
But as I said previously, I found a workaround to make the Athena runs ok by playing with the order of startup programs. It's been more then one week without any freeze

Same for me, working well on WM6 since I turned X-Button 1.51 off.
In WM5 I had this problem all the time as WM5 totally sucks!
In WM6 I only experienced this problem when programs "collided" due to timing issues as you've found out. By changing the load order or timing of some applications (some programs have it built right in like SmallMenu....it's resolved all of my lock up issues, etc. Most of the problems can be resolved by playing around with the software you have loaded, as you found out. Not sure if it's because of a crappy OS or because of crappy coding by the developers of the software we're installing...maybe both.

Activesync issue

I have a weird activesync issue. I use vista with wmdc 6.1. After synchronizing my X7500 (stock wm6 upgrade) and taking it out of the cradle, activesync on my X7500 does not seem to "release". The software hangs (which can be seen by the double arrow connection icon at the top, which should not be there anymore). I need to go into settings/memory to manually kill the program, which then is indeed reported as hanging.
I own more PDA's, also with WM6, and the X7500 is the only one with this behaviour.
Does anybody else have this, and maybe a hint to a solution?
Have you tried a soft reset?

ActiveSync issues
Hi,
I use the same configuration as you do (VISTA with WMDC 6.1 on HTC X7501 – WM6), I had quite few synchronisation issues and I learned that: REPLLOG.exe which is the WM6’ native sync file and CPROG.exe MUST be kept on (active) AT ALL TIMES. There are several programs out there (Magic Button, WisBar, Spb Pocket Plus, etc) which among other functions take over and truly CLOSE the applications when the OK, upper right button is pressed, rather than minimizing it as is set by default in WM6; IF this happens to REPLLOG.exe (active sync file) WM6 might (actually quite likely) loses the sync parameters, thus the active partnership, so next time when you connect the two it will ask you to reconfigure everything from the beginning.
One program which I really recommend buying is WisBar Advance which allows you to set exceptions: you set the OK button to truly close, with the exception of the 2 files I mentioned. Besides the little green, spinning, active sync symbol is kept hidden even though is hanging – nothing to be bothered about.
One other thing: I had to revert and come back to WMDC 6.0 as I had a very annoying sync problem with WMDC 6.1. As strange as it may seem this solved my issue: ActiveSync Support Code: 0x8503001C. If you happen to bump into it just remember the remedy.
I hope this helps.
Thanks, I will try this. I am actually using magic button. I'll remove it and see whether the problem goes away.
Update: issue does not go away after uninstalling magic button and soft resetting. Activesync still hangs.... and does not want to reconnect after this

Nacos,
I´m having since yesterday this strange and annoying "Support Code: 0x8503001C". I've tried everything until I found this post. The problem is that when I install WMDC 6.0 (from this source: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...EA-9DF9-4920-AF33-3A0E2E4E7BEB&displaylang=en ) my computer installs it, but immediately and without asking anything, installs the "update", so I end having the 6.1 version.
What should I do in this case?
Thanks.

you actually need to remove the Windows Mobile driver update and the windows mobile device center, both show up under the add/remove programs on your windows pc
I even went to the extent of finding the folder for windows mobile device profiles and it's program directory and removing them from the drive.
That finally sorted out the problem. but i can't recall off top of my head what the folder names was

Cyberjak,
Very interesting. I have already removed both the driver and device center through the add/remove programs, but can't find the profiles. There is a folder in Windows directory that is call "Windows mobile": it has, among other stuff, the setup.exe, wmdcBase and wmdsync; it also has a "wmupdate". You think is there?
Please, I really need some help here. Can't install WMDC 6.0 alone.
Thanks

I've been searching forums and there's some reference to not enough memory but i uninstalled tomtom and other things and still can't get it to work.
I also installed it again from a cab i got here, but nothing.

I'm sorry to say, but it looks like your best option is a hard reset. It will save more trouble in the end, if you haven't done a backup then now is a good time to use one. Do a hard reset then reinstall all your contacts, appointments, and such, then your programs. Then use a backup program like sprite, and backup. sprite has a 10 day trial and once it ends you can still restore from the first backup . unless someone knows a good free backup software program. think HTC do one???

Like I said, use the opportunity to make a backup then you always have a base to start from. I use sprite, you can even use it when swapping roms. save all that messing about getting things back how you want them.
good luck

Thanks for the advice. I did a hard reset and then slowly put back on the apps and things. Then I found out the cause of the problem. It was the Thinkoutside drivers. I have a Thinkoutside bluetooth mouse and a keyboard and as soon as I installed the driver for the mouse Opera died. I uninstalled it and Opera started again. I am now using Bluemouse and it's fine.
Sprite is awesome to BTW so thaks for the tip. I downloaded the trial and now I'm going to buy it.

Im pleased you have it sorted now, its a good chance for a clean out and a spring clean. At least now you have a bsae to go back to if anything else goes wrong, Sprite has been a favourite of mine since I first started years ago. I did have problems getting the backup file to self boot, however that seems to be ok now. Just tap on the backup file on your storage card and off it goes.
All the best

htc sense won't load! HELP!

the moment i start up my hd2, it says s2u2.exe is missing or corrupted that kinda **** and my sense can't load. bootloader can still be accessed though.
it jus stays at the screen and says tap here to launch htc sense. tapped and nth happens. i know i need to get s2u2 off my phone but it's installed inside and i can't access any settings or whatsoever.
mine's not hspl coded so i can't flash any roms.
You'll have to do a hard reset.
don't listen to the guy above.
Have you tried pressing the windows key then accessing settings to remove the app?
If you can't access this way, try accessing your programs via Active Sync and try removing S2U2 that way.
Try disabling Sense and load the default... then load it back.
hmm how do i realli disable sense? active sync won't work, cause it won't get into sense.
if i can disable sense, get into the normal windows and jus factory reset everything would be good.
practically nothing realli works when i start up..anyway i can access windows thru other methods say bootloader no?
you don't need sense to access Active Sync... you can even access your programs without accessing Sense.
Just press the Windows button > Settings > Today > Items and disable the Sense and tick Windows Default
Doing a factory reset is the same as a Hard Reset so if you want to do that then you can find the tutorial on doing a hard reset easily.
Do the stuff i said first so you don't waste your time hard resetting.
Encountered the same problem as TS.
HTC sense kept reloading. I got the "Tab to load Sense" thing too.
All the buttons and icons went missing on the home tab.
I couldn't access any of the functions of my phone, not even the remove programme function.
It just showed something like "SettingsImprovement is not certified or the file is missing". Can't remember exactly what it is saying.
Had to do a hard reset in the end...
yeah i hard reset in the end too. found out that some of the hd2 tweak settings i made had it hung..nv realli touched it since..dang.
Actually, the way to solve this is as follow (DO NOT need a hard reset!).
1) Press the Windows start button.
2) Double click on the File Explorer to run the program.
3) Browse to Windows directory.
4) Find the theme item "HTC Black" and double click on that to run. This will bring up the "Today" setup screen for setting the theme and items.
5) Find the "HTC Sense" item and uncheck that.
6) Reboot.
7) Now the phone should load normally.
8) Go to Windows settings to fix the problem.
For myself, I had to go through these steps in order to get into the settings because the settings were linked to the HTC manila tab which was having the trouble to load at the first place.
Guys,
I have a similar problem.
It says "Launching HTC Sense" and nothing happens.
None of the hard keys work, the screen does not react to any press, it is just frozen.
Actyve Synch dos not work also. I am even not able to hard reset because the phone does not react anymore. It still says "Launching HTC Sense".
I have tried to remove and put back the sd card, no result.
I have hopefully backed up a recent version in my SD card.
How could I hard reset the device?
Please help
HTC Sense wont load fix
Hey guys im not too sure if this was discovered yet and im not too sure where this problem comes from but its a problem with the sd card and something that is installed it, a simple fix was to remove the sd card , mount it to your computer and examine your card, look for anything out of the ordinary such as auto run programs and move them to the trash, after deleting the trash put your sd card back into your htc hd2 and pow good as new. . . . someone else try this out and let me know if its a easy fix for u as well. . .
the hard reset, press the reset button on the back of HD2 while holding both volume up and volume down buttons. then press Vol Up to start formatting the device.
try uninstalling Cookie Home Tab & Editor and reinstalling them. that fixed my HTC sense issue
Hi,
If none of the hardware buttons work, what you guys are suggesting does not work...
What I had done is to remove the battery the whole night, after putting back the battery, the hardware buttons worked again, I have solved the problem.
Thanks anyway

This is for HTC HD2 (T8585)

[APP] Spb Mobile Shell - Microsoft Today - HTC Sense\TouchFLO\TouchFLO3D Switcher

Easily switch between Microsoft Today, HTC Sense\TouchFLO3D\TouchFLO, Spb Mobile Shell!!
I also wanted to be able to put links on the Spb Mobile Shell and HTC Sense Screens for easy running so I made seperate programs with icons for Microsoft Today, HTC Sense\TouchFLO3D\TouchFLO and Spb Mobile Shell so you can switch at the click of a button.
It should work regardless of which language Rom you use.
After install it will be in the Start Menu, Programs, Shell Sense Switcher Folder. The Htc Sense link should work for HTC Sense (newer Roms) or TouchFlo3D.
I hope a few people find it useful.
ChangeLog:
V2. Now has better icons and smaller file size.
V3. Added new Sense compatability and made installed file size smaller.

Thanks to Mskip for taking the time to make this possible.
@Claus: Could you please explain further. What you did is what i hope to accomplish: to run Titanum, M2D V2, and MS 3.5 all on the same phone. I get the impression it still won't be easy though.
Thanks in advance.

In fact i have all 3 on my phone, and switch them with this nice application, i have included a shortcut of the main script in each of the UI, on the programs tab or plugin.
I modified as i said each of the scripts, replacing everywhere TouchFLO 3D with TouchFLO, so it works for M2D. I also modified all scripts so that Titanium is enabled instead of disabled so it shows in the place of the Today screen.

Switching to one Today Plugin will disable any other plugins as they cannot run together, so having both installed will not consume any more battery.
That said however Spb Mobile Shell is known to eat more battery. There could be other factors involved but its the price you have to pay to use the program. I dont really see any extra battery drain from running both so you could try using a Task Manager to close any programs that might be running in the background.
Mark.
Hi Mark,
Thanks for your reply,
I tested it over night and over a 6hr period, battery drain was approx 50%. With SENSE showing. Task manager showed my SEVEN push email app running, but this was the case before i put MS back onto the device.
I have just uninstalled MS and will see if i get longer than 6hrs from now for the remainder of the day.
I did notice though that after re-booting my HD2 that the MS would load then sometimes flick to SENSE on its own as part of the booting process, which is why i thought that they both run concurrently, just one set to the background (in standby or something like that)
I'll report back within 12hrs.
Again, thanks for making this cab, and this dilemma is not caused by your app.
Hi,
I conducted the same test overnight, and with SPB MobileShell 3.5 uninstalled my battery went from 100% to 90% over 8 hours.
Push email was still active
Your cab was still installed but obviously not used.
Im surprised that SPB S3.5 is suck a battery drain.

Thank you so much I am a big fan of SPB Mobile shell but lately I was thinking to use TouchFlo3D without uninstalling SPB mobile shell. This program is very useful for me.
Pointui 2.0 is also a Today plugin startup. Androkkid is not. I have both on my phone. Any chance of adding Pointui & maybe a blank option to allow manually starting UIs that aren't Today plugins?
I like the idea of this software - and have one request.
When I switch between HTC Sense and my Today Screen - what would be really really nice is if this thing remembered the today-plugin's I'd selected.
