I don't think this is possible. I'm pretty sure it's a white LED ring only.
Hardware hack. Doesn't explain exactly how, i just did a quick search maybe more info with a broader one.
Not something I would try though.

Wow, that looks awesome...and difficult.
Hey guys, not sure if everyone saw this or not but the N1 just got colored notification on their trackballs was thinking since we got root maybe this will be an option, along with colored notifications. I know its been a mysterious if the Eris can do these but I think it should be able to based on my knowledge on htc products and the LEDs they use. Here is the XDA article:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/trackballcolornotify-1-0beta3-available-for-nexusone/
Thoughts? Confirmations?
It doesn't work, tried it earlier.
I was think more or less someone possibly changing the coding to work for the Eris as I assume they would be different from the N1
Im fairly certain that the erises hardware is only a white led. The Nexus one has a completely different trackball design, with multiple coloured leds inside.
dang I was hoping for an orange trackball light.

The developer of Handcent told me that the Eris' trackball doesn't support multi-colors.

Has anyone tried this on their Vibrant? Does it work? Did it fix the tiny letters issue from the stock grey apk as before???

It looks like he's working to get it going on the Captivate, so we'll probably have to wait.
Cool! Thanks!
so i was watching a video and when the nexus s powers off it looks like an old tv screen turning off, i got nero 3 right now, and i was wondering if there was a way to get that effect on my vibrant?
Need 2.3 I believe
man im sure its possible on 2.2
Someone might need to port it from nexus to vibrant which shouldn't be too hard but ask a dev they might do it sometimes...
i kno hopefully soon =D
its just an animation..so it doesnt need to be ported. although it would be easier if it was just taken from the nexus s...someone can just create it.
i guess we might have to wait a couple more weeks for it to happen =/
May be not

Ok weird question probably gona get flamed alot.
Is it possible to get the webtop to operate on the phones screen? its just so nice, had it for a min in a glitch after disconnecting the hdmi cable, ya everything was small but It gave a roomy look and kinda made me want it as a part time option.
Bump, is nobody curious? I mean cmon, there has to be a way I just need to know. I think it could be useful.
