Hi all
i just rooted my X10a using that 1click root thing, it said it was rooted ect
now what can i do with a "rooted" phone? i hear lots about it, and the fact i can un-root it made me wanna try
what can i do now?
ps, i dont understand all this RB12490 ( or what ever it is ) stuff, somenoe?
thanks!!
after rooting you can use utilities that require root, for example:
adfree
busybox
quicksshd
setcpu
titanium backup
search forums for further info.
oh so it gives me things that you can do without rooting it?
ie: overclocking phones cpu?
thanks
lol opps, i un-installed moxier mail, forgot to back it up and now i cant get it again?
i think i "rooted'" my phones warranty and all
for overclocking custom kernel is needed AFAIK.
SetCPU can enable dynamic underclock to reduce battery usage.
i want my moxier mail back now
i asssume theres no way to get it back now i un-installed it?

if SE releases new firmware you will have this app again for sure in the update package
well im from australia and they announced the 2.1 release date for the end of this month
for some reason my phone feels faster when its rooted, is it? or is it just me?
try to read more before asking any questions.
this way you will be a free man, independent from anybodys will to answer questions.
also assume that every your question was answered on the internet at least 5 times
good luck!

OK ... here's what you do now.
Come to these forums as many times a day as your life allows and post the following type of message:
Where's 2.1?
What are the Devs doing?
Is 2.1 coming soon?
Is 2.1 coming this week?
The X10 is crap without 2.1.
Are the Devs still around??????
I hate my X10!!!!
1.6 sucks.
So what's happening with 2.1?
I hate my X10.
I sold my X10.
After you post a message based on that last subject line you won't wonder what to do you your rooted X10 since you'll no longer have one
Anyhow ... this seems to be what most X10 owners do with a rooted X10.

I'll be getting a Rogers X10 sometime this week and I'm just educating myself on the root method etc before I actually get the phone. Anyway, I've pretty much got that figured out and the one click exploid method looks simple compared to the root method I had to use for my 911 patched HTC Dream, and since my computer is already setup with ADB and stuff it'll be fine.
Anyway, my question is regarding ROMs for this phone. I've only ever flashed Cyanogen onto any device and those are pretty straight forward as far as what version of android it is. I don't see a whole lot going on with this phone as far as good custom firmwares go and it's kind of discouraging me from getting this device. The phone itself ships with 1.6 on it, and I've been using 2.2 on my Dream since the CM update came out... even though this phone totally dominates the dream, I don't fancy the idea of going back to Donut.
I'm having a really hard time finding which one of the "RXXA0XX" firmwares is the newest, and which versions they run.
Any help is mundo appreciate.

R2BA026 is the newest unless you use AT&T, and all run X10 FW as of now runs on 1.6, and as the bootloader hasn't been cracked yet 1.6 is all you can run.

Hi all
I am looking to install CM7 on my phone and have been doing a fair bit of reading before taking the plunge.
I am relatively happy on the steps involved now, the order to do them in and (roughly) how to do them. The only bit which I am a little sketchy on is the RAM issue from unlocking the bootloader.
I am on an Orange UK handset and understand that a side effect of the unlock is ending up with ~300Mb RAM. The details in the fix here don't seem to quite make sense to me.
I guess what I am really asking is, after unlocking the bootloader and installing CM7 will my phone still only register ~300Mb or is that fix just for stock Gingerbread ROMs? The guide refers to Orange FR Gingerbread which I obviously do not want (I am currently running stock 2.2.2 Orange UK firmware).
I apologise as I am sure this has come up before but I want to do this correctly.
Many thanks for any guidance.

I rooted my phone and I never installed the ram fix. I was always sitting on350-400 of ram with like 60 other so apps on there. I installed cm7 and now get 550-600 with the same apps and settings. My phone boots up in 7 seconds top from when you see the bootlogo to the lockscreen. Its so fast

Keep in mind the OP is asking about international Orange versions of the Atrix not USA AT&T, I don't think USA AT&T versions are experiencing this odd RAM problem.

Incase anyone else is interested to know, I took the plunge and just went ahead and did it this evening:
1) Unlock bootloader
2) Root phone
3) Installed CM7
After point 1, I only had the ~300Mb available. After point 3, I have the full ~800Mb available...
So, the answer is the RAM restriction is only on Moto ROMs. I presume the obvious answer is this is linked to the kernel so CM7 works just fine.

Apparently de-blur ROMs all seem to do that, i'm an international user and flashed Home Base and also the ROM problem is gone and the phone is just saaaaaaaaaa fast!
Only one qualm though, it gets a tad too hot for my liking, next step is to learn more about undervolting to see if i can somehow control the overheating...

It uses a 1.3 GHz kernel so you should set up profiles to underclock when you don't need all that power

finally found a thread which got some info after searching for a month.i dont own an atrix planning to buy one.i also dont undestand this issue of ram.is it for those who use stock rom.because the fix is using an orangefr.
do other roms contain the fix like cm7.
im planning to use a stock middle east rom
or a custom rom which supports arabic.
its the kernel contained within the CM7 rom, it contains the unified kernel with the ram fix for at&t and international users...

UPDATE
i flashed faux's unified kernal. solved it
ram fix
i got bellgb2.3.6 im d00, everything works great including lapdock
now i have 300mb ram,
did you got any solution?
If I recall correctly, Faux v0.2.3 kernel has the fix built into it.

Not trying to get off topic here but would it be possible with a hack to get all the ram to show up. For example, I want all the ram (1GB) to show up instead of 815MB Available. I understand that the android system allocates ~250MB for the OS but I heard that you can make it so all the ram shows up.
quick question, im running Nottach's wet dream rom with faux's 123 unified 1.3GHz kernal. Im not having any problems with the ram, i get an avg of 500mb. i did have a problem before with was solved with one of faux's kernels. what will happen if i flash the ramfix? nothing or will i get more available?

Hey Guys,
I've had my T-Mobile Amaze 4G for almost a month now and HATE the bloatware on it. I really think it's killing my battery sooner than it should.
I am on WindMobile in Canada and Wind just released their Amaze 4G on Dec. 2nd.
Has anyone taken an image of Wind's stock ROM for the Amaze yet...and made it available for download?
I hear Wind has almost no bloatware and am wanting to use it.
The other Windmobile Amaze ROM's I've found on xda are all pre-release versions, hence I don't want to use them as I want to ensure I get the officially released ROM.
Thanks for all the help.
Cheers
Well, there are numerous solutions to your issue in question. If you flash any of the roms in the development section, most of them wont have any bloatware. If you'd rather stick with stock you can download root explorer (once your phone is rooted of course) and uninstall any offending apps from there. On my current rom i just got nearly two days worth of battery with light use without doing anything special to it =)
my bad x lol...
dude you guys got to search i have a wind rom and a ruu

Ya...but I'm not too comfortable removing apps when I don't know if they are somehow tied to other apps that will break something.
I'd prefer to go stock Wind ROM...if the released version exists somewhere...

Is it the pre-released...or released version?
Wind's official release was Dec. 2nd for their Amaze 4G.
Oh...BTW....I did search, and got zilch returned.
"Wind ROM" returned nothing for me.
But then again....my searching skill really suck....

I have a Wind's Amaze, but without unlocked bootloader I've got no idea how to make a ROM backup. htcdev site refuses unlocking my bootloader
As for the bloatware - only Sense-integrated stuff presents.
By the way Sense 3.0 social networking integration looks pretty outdated - neither Google+ nor even Linked In present...

Much appreciated.
I really hope they start letting us root and unlock the bootloader. I got mine from WIND and really want to start putting some awesome custom roms on. Cmon HTC! Thanks xboarder56 for trying!
Ya...hopefully they'll unlock it soon.
Do you have the official Wind Amaze?
How is the battery life on that?
My T-Mobile has alot of bloatware that seems to be killing the battery.
From the time I wake up to the time I go to bed...I'm usually left with ~30% battery.
This is 1 reason I want the Wind ROM.

Can a T-Mobile user flash the wind mobile rom? I am really interested in getting rid of the T-Mobile bloat on the phone. Not interested in giving HTC my serial number though.

Yes...you can flash the Canadian Windmobile ROM, Telus ROM, or any ROM made for the HTC Amaze 4G.
Unfortunately...we have no choice (at present) but to use HTC's method to unlock the bootloader.
We can't flash other ROM's without unlocking the bootloader first (from what I understand reading the posts here on xda).
The Wind ROM adds a Facebook app of some sort and ringtones, the Telus ROM adds Skype and one other app that I can't recall at the moment....
But neither have the amount of bloat that T-Mobile's ROM has.
I thought it could be flashed from the ruu
That's not my understanding...but am not 100% sure what an ruu does exactly or what the requirements are to use an ruu.
From reading xda, you need a custom recovery to install an ruu.
In order to flash a custom recovery...you need unlock the bootloader.
..or am I just confused?
Maybe Xboarder56 can elaborate on this a little??
I second what can we do without the unlocked bootloader?
I really want to know when the latest .73 firmware for UK Xperia S will be released. Also if anyone currently running .73 would like to expand on battery life?
Well it's been a month tomorrow since it was released in singapore, other euro countries have got it. Sonymobile uk have said it is out but no one has confirmed they got it. So it might never come out. At this rate ICS may be out on the S before this patch get's released. I am using the NL generic using Flashtool and you can flash it without needing to root.

I find it better less bloat feels smooth just like SG. I use NL feels close to the invisible UK update.
