ANY Eris can be rooted now. Bootloaders don't matter. Just download the 1 click app and boom your rooted.
I flashed the ruu before I sent my old eris in. the replacement was rooted within minutes of getting it.

I second that. Flashed the original RUU. Even went the extra mile ans deleted the ext 3 partition and formated the entire sd card (ext 3 partition is for those who use roms with aps2sd capability) for safety sake.

No need to format the sdcard. You keep the battery, sdcard, and battery cover. You just send in the handset.

if you have the GB bootloaders just flash over like a normal rom
if you dont have the bootloaders use an odin version of the rom you want to flash then flash updates with rom manager
so to odin it, i dud need my exact rom and then the GB boot loaders as the PDA?

might not need the bootloaders to odin it but you cant see recovery without the bootloaders but with the odin files voodoo sometimes messes up and you need to go to recovery to disable it so you'll need the bootloaders
just flash the bootloades with odin and flash the rom over whatever you're on, probably the easiest way
the GB bootloaders sits at setup connection and never starts

yeah there is an option that will clear your sd card in odin so you have to watch to make sure its not checked. It happens sometimes
What 2.3 ROM are you planning on flashing? You don't want GB bootloaders if you plan on flashing MIUI or CM7. Any other GB ROM and you will. Good luck!
I went with sensation by crysis. Love it and the battery, just hate how in 2.3.4 it auto stops charging wen full

This is an unofficial bootstrap recovery for the Droid Razr. It is based off of Koush/CVPCS bootstrap for the Droid Bionic and modified for the Razr.
Flash zips at your own risk! Enjoy! Updated on 2/8/12 to fix backup and restore features as well as adding support for internal and external sd cards.
Download: Razr Bootstrap v2.0
Steps to use bootstrap:
1. Install the RazrBootstrap.apk
2. Select "Bootstrap Recovery"
3. Superuser will prompt for permissions
4. Select "Reboot Recovery"
When the phone reboots it will boot up into Clockworkmod Recovery.

How exactly are you "renting" it until the Nexus? Just curious, thanks!
I presume he's gonna return the within the allowable timeframe. I'm kinda doing the same......

If possible not only droid razr but also european razr (FR version)
Hit the Nexus forums, and you may just want to keep your Razr. I was planning on returning my Razr for the Nexus, but I'm not swayed by initial first impressions.
And keep in mind that if you pick up the Verizon model it's a thick beast!

Verizon extended it's return policy till Jan 15th(as of today). So I am basically renting the device and returning it and paying $35 to "restock" it.
their own damn fault really. It was them that pushed it back... and back.. and wait for it....

Getting back to topic, anyone play with this. Is the nandroid backup option available?
Yes, and it also works like a charm. However, I have not yet tried to actually RESTORE a backup.
I saw the message
"No /sdcard/.android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage."
does anyone has seen this message while doing the backup in CWM recovery mode?
what it means?
It means you don't have any apps installed to the SD
i checked my razr file system...
i saw /sdcard and /sdcard-ext and i have some apps installed in media.
I've seen that on all of my phones. Its normal.

SD card is internal media storage - SD card-ext is the removable one you control by pc or some old apps install to it. I keep my backups on it, eg.

So, this is a modified CWM for our Razr and will be able to flash items, except for ROMs right now?

So currently I am pre-OTA 2.04.605.2 710RD, and I heard that this update fixes the SIM card issues. My phone has been plagued with this shortly after I got it. Currently it is rooted with S-Off, however I don't really use the feature much, my phone is pretty bone stock minus ClockworkMod and the menu button mod. I'm sick of the SIM card error and would like to update, however the install always fails in ClockworkMod (that's where it goes after rebooting) so my question is how can I update now, and just wait for S-off or root to become available later?
Put the stock recovery on and install the ota. Then reinstall cwm

I would gladly take you up on that offer, but I have my phone setup the way I need it, and I use it as a GPS a lot. It's hard to use it when the SIM error comes up 2-3 times a week.

My wife's got the sim error once. I took it out, cleaned it with an eraser then put it back in pressing down pretty hard. Never an issue again.

Unfortunately that has not worked for me, and I have had the SIM card replaced. I've heard the update fixes SIM card detection issues. Is this true? I still can't get it to install.

There is a thread in the dev section. Search it and then install. I think the sim stuff is in the new radio's.

So I accidentally installed the Jedi X 15 rom for T-mobile on my verizon galaxy note 2 and now I wiped everything, restored one of my backups but now when I boot my phone it loads the rom but has no signal and everything stops responding and I'm given a page saying system software not authorized by verizon. Any help please o;

Refer to the first post in this forum [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196891 ]. Make sure you load a correct ROM on your SD card.
I had to use a spare phone so that I could get access to the SD card to load the ROM, then transferred it to my GN2. If you decide to revert back to stock & re-root, use Adam Outler's Casual v5.68 to get root access. This one worked for me. I had no success with the others.
I'm no expert at all (just got my GN2 last week). I spent ALL DAY trying to get my phone working after accidently erasing the ROM trying to root it. Following Adam Outler's guide was what started my problems. The guide was GREAT, just the file that is mentioned (and used) in the guide messed up my phone. As I stated, use Casual v5.68 to get root back if you decide to revert back to stock & re-root.
Hope this helps!!

Where do you find the Verizon modem, anf how do you flash just the modem. I was looking at JediX 16 and was about to flash when I realized that it was for TMobile and not Verizon.
Flash a verizon modem and install the correct Jedi XV14 (make sure it has V for verizon) or you could just nandroid backup and restore one of them to make sure your phone still works.

Yes
BL - Bootloader - a.k.a. Boot Loader - This is the rudimentary software that kicks in when a phone is first powered up. Its only real goal is to get the operating system up and running. Some phones, like those from Motorola, have a "locked" bootloader, making it more difficult to use custom kernels. The Fascinate's bootloader was never locked. Here's where it gets complicated: bootloaders are broken down by Android version. There are Eclair bootloaders, Froyo bootloaders, and GB bootloaders. Just being on one version of Android, though, does not mean that you have the corresponding bootloader. It seems that stock Gingerbread phones don't use a Gingerbread bootloader. In fact, to put a GB bootloader on your phone (highly recommended for modern ROMs) you will need to flash a GB bootloader file.

i ended up doing it. the only difference is the second boot logo shows up (the one after the first samsung logo).
my verdict is, if you forget to flash it initially with JT's CWM, you should be fine. flash it with JT's CWM image for best results.
I'm happy with my setup. Geewiz runs beautiful for me. Would love to try 4.3 but SD card won't let me. Just flashed bootloader on my bad cracked fassy and still no luck with the SD card. So. Its useless for me
