I do not understand your question
What exactly is it you want to change, and why???
Maybe he means the device ID? most of the builds think our phone is nexus one or the desire maybe he wants to change that for whatever reason?
I change the build.prop inside /system to customize the information I want reflected in my build.
I use shu8i's (which uses zego's) as a base

Hi all,
I have been looking around for long time and trying different solutions to add Arabic (BIDI or RTL) support to my vibrant but with no luck.the only thing is just adding the font so instead of showing squares it shows the letters but disconnected and in reverse order.
Have any one been successful in porting the language support from the i9000 middle eastern rom? I tried but my phone will not boot and I don't know how to access the log at that stage to see why or what is missing.
Do we have a better built in support in froyo? Or it is the same?
I have seen many threads in many forums but most are not active for long time.
Any help will be appreciated.

I managed to make an arabic 2.1 rom. Everything works fine with exception of GPS. Just do not know how to create a flashable zip file for the rom to post it.

How did you do it?
Where did you get the files from? or you compiled your own?
Is it working now right-to-left and reshaping?
I would appreciate your help.
I am running now BIONIX1.6 rom (based on T959UVJI6). what is yours?
I have made a nandroid backup file. I can put it in online.

Can you provide us with that script or show where to get it from? maybe we can update it to work with the new rom.
There is an update rom running froyo 2.2 for Orange (I9000JHJP4) and has support for Arabic and hebrew, i tried to get some files from it to my 2.1 but did not work, i know i am missing more files that should be also integrated. that rom is for the international Galaxy S i9000 so it might not work with Vibrant
you can find the rom at samfirmware.com

I tested this patch without any changes and got the same error
I am trying to understand this java disassembled code to be able to fix it for the new ROM.
The patch already cover the full range of unicode characters for hebrew and arabic + other rtl languages.
Can anyone help me with generally understanding the disassembled code or provide links to some resources that can help?

Look at this thread, one guy is trying the same thing and he is getting the same error, and i think he got a work around in a hebrew site which i could not understand so you might find the solution to your problem there http://iandroid.co.il/forum/topic5657.html but for me I still need the Arabic character reshaping so RTL alone is not enough
And this is the link to the XDA thread where they discuss the same issues, and it seems that they are about to integrate the BIDI solution into the AOSP and CM

Moving to Q&A
I just recently installed the new Bell 2.3.4 gingerbread update, and some of my purchased apps aren't showing. Went on the android market website, and apparently my phone isn't compatible anymore. Is there a way to bypass the market compatibility check?
You have Bell GingerBread? How did you get it? OTA or did you download the build that a bunch of devs are working on in the dev section?
Because as far as i know they haven't released it yet...?!?!?!

I also would like a work around for compatibility, this simply makes no sense 2.3.4 should be MORE compatible then 2.2.3 !
oh this problem. probably fixed with editing the build prop used to happen to those of us that got to jump to froyo early.

you did reset after right?
you can also try this change too so it appears that you are on the french rom

Yes, sorry, I did reboot right after making the changes.
Ok, i will give that a shot, attempting to deodex right now..
cool will give you a bit of time, but check my edit. i believe that is the change you need to make. hope it accepts the french rom (can't see why it wouldn't) and then reboot. clear the data for market for good measure.
EDIT
French rom fingerprint is what i meant.

Hello all!
As you maybe seen, Android 4.4 (KitKat) has awesome color emoji.
I looked into the sources, and I think I managed to found what does make emoji in color :
--system
------- fonts
--------- AndroidEmoji.ttf
--------- NotoColorEmoji.tff
-- etc
--------- fallback_fonts.xml
--------- system_fonts.xml
In framework-res.apk, it as some png of some simple emoji.
EDIT :
I found something else in my insvestigations.
In CM11 and KitKat source code, it has a folder emoji inside "framework/opt/".
In emoji folder, it has
- Android.mk
- CleanSpec.mk
- EmojiFactory.cpp
- EmojiFactory.h
And i'm sure EmojiFactory has something to do with colored emoji.
Like these comments line say :
// Returns binary image data corresponding to "pua". The size of binary is
// stored to "size". Returns NULL if there's no mapping from the "pua" to a
// specific image. Currently, image format is all (animated) gif.
Click to collapse
In "frameworks/base/core/java/android" it has an emoji folder, with EmojiFactory.java file, which call libemoji.so.
EDIT 2 :
They talk about emoji here :

Hello all!
As you maybe seen, Android 4.4 (KitKat) has awesome color emoji.
I looked into the sources, and I think I managed to found what does make emoji in color :
--system
------- fonts
--------- AndroidEmoji.ttf
--------- NotoColorEmoji.tff
-- etc
--------- fallback_fonts.xml
--------- system_fonts.xml
In framework-res.apk, it as some png of some simple emoji.
Anyway, I made a flashable zip with these files and fonts, and I don't see any emoji, even in white in black.
So, could someone help me to find what's wrong?

Check my EDIT 2 on my post! I founded something like EmojiFactory, and so one inside framework. Anyway, I have to check how it work and which files I have to change... Please, a skilled dev can search with us and make an xposed module? I would be awesome!
Got an idea. Have to extract maybe KitKat already build framework and check for Emoji...
Hoping to see this solved and ported to an xposed framework!

I hope too. But I guess dev or members who are in 4.4 doesn't care about Emoji in old version, I understand them.
For me, I would love to enable it in Android version coz I have a rom which is in 4.2.2 and I'd love to use with Emoji, in color.
But for the moment, I'm not even enough skilled for build a rom, it always crash... :crying:
I hope someone gets an answer soon, cause I want KK emoji in my JB ROM

Oh sry then,didnt know it.
Try editing your build prop
ro.product.name and ro.product.device from "kltetmo"(or whatever is there) to "klteatt"
I know for a fact editing your build prop file can affect your notification drop down.
I used Xposed G-touchwiz . You can remove dere .

BEFORE STARTING: DO A BACKUP!
1. Download a root file explorer
2. go to /system
3. find and open build.prop in a text editor
4. edit whatever you want
5. reboot(or else nothing will change)
6. profit

Thanks! When I did that and changed the KLTESPR to KLTEATT and rebooted my phone threw an error message over and over dealing with the network. So I dont think I can edit build.prop on OA6 to remove S Finder and Quick Connect.

are you on lollipop(I think so, but just to be sure I ask again)? It happened to me too...I'm still experimenting with this on lollipop, I can't seem to be able to change kltexx to kltevzw, my SystemUI crashes when rotating the phone :/
Edit: klteatt doesn't work either, I'm trying the rest now
Edit 2: I can't get any of them to work. Could this be because I'm not on BOA6 yet?

there has to be. I gave up for now, I can't live without full-screen youtube videos, so I guess I'm stuck with the stupid buttons at the moment...
Does anyone else know a possible solution?
It does work but only if you change ONLY ro.product.name=klteatt
If you change device=spr it will loop the networkservice error and lock you out.
Doing this also changes your data icons from sprint/spark to the att/4glte one....fine with me to get rid of the damn buttons.(Did it with xposed previously on KK )

Same here.
Works, but SystemUI crashes
For Galaxy note 4 use below.
ro.product.name=trltvzw
