Hey guys, so I've had this problem for a long time now and it's starting to really annoy me. If I turn on my wifi and not use it, the wifi will still be "connected" but nothing will load. So the main problem is that my wifi won't work after 5 min of leaving it on, I could just turn my wifi off then back on but I've been doing this for some time now and was wondering if there was a solution for this. Please help!
What rom are you using?
i'm using the stock rom
v2.1 of android or v1.5?
Are you using a widget to turn off the WiFi?
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
i'm on 2.1 and i'm using the stock widget to turn it on and off
Is this just at home or everywhere you connect to WiFi?
it happens everywhere i use my wifi.
Contact HTC. Seems odd.
Have you tried going in to the settings & disable / enable WiFi, it might just be a problem with your widget

Hey all!
Quick question; when I connect to my wifi at home it connects quickly but I can't access web pages, market etc. I have to restart my phone before I'm able to. It never use to do this and I haven't changed anything. Any thoughts?

How did you manage to fix this? I have the same problem.
I've installed the Blade WIFI fix app but it doesn't work most of the time even though it says attempting to fix.
same here.
I use the stock 2.1 rom and wifi is ok, FreeX10 Beta 4 and the wifi works and then after a whille becomes disconnected.
I tried Blade Wifi fix, wifi fixer, all from the android market and they all fix it maybe once or twice then wifi disconnects again.
For now, I have added power control widget to the homescreen and disable then enable to get wifi working.
I am using the Wifi to turn off with screen.
Bizzarely I have a ZTE Blade before running 2.2.1 and the wifi always worked flawlessly. Weird.
Wonder if its anything to do with WEP or WPA2?

Exactly the same problem.
I think its a cynanogen mod settings that was set to automatically disconnect or something like that. I can;t seem to find it.
The problem is, wifi is slow and constantly disconnects then you have to connect manually to it, which takes a while. Hopefully it would be fixed in the next update, because going online is just vital for our androids.

Thanks for the link. My problem isn't connecting to an enterprise network. It does connect but after a few hours will stay disconnected if your using WPA or WPA2. Using WEP (64bit or 128bit) the problem is still there. Only is works a few hours more before disconnecting. The only way to fix it is to disable Wifi and enable it.
Tried ZTE Blade wifi fix and all the others from the market. Same problem.
So definately some issue with the rom/wifi settings.
It's a phone issue.. oddly the x10 hates some routers.. it's is possible that you are having -wifi- clashes at work.
Does it do this only at work?
if yes.. then it's the router at work.
:severe edit
I'm using blade wifi fix.. no issue's what so ever.
wifi works well for my FreeX10 beta4
Well for me its good, but when u leave phone idle, it sadly disconnects to my modem and I have to reconnect, which takes like a minute.
It was fine before I switched to freex10 and its the only issue I found so far with it. I think I saw one of the settings in cyanogen... IM not sure. Help please

I know that X10 doesnt like hidden SSID. I have to create another SSID just for the X10. LOL.

I have to agree - I was having the same issue, the phone would drop out when it went to sleep and then wouldn't wake back up. I installed the blade wifi fix and it seems to bee all good.
This happens on sense roms usually. Latest cm7 don't have this problem but latest aosp roms do. I thought it was the kernel so I flashed like 10 different kernels but no joy so far.
What happens is: I connect to my router, surf the web etc. Leave the phone for 3 minutes, unlock it, then I see the wifi connected icon on the status bar. I open the... say gtalk, it can't log in. then the icon disappears and the phone reconnects to the interwebs.
What I've done so far is;
-Flashed every single kernel
-Played with router settings. (static ip, 802.11b/g, wpa2, deleted/added phone)
-wifi sleep policy to "never"
The phone in question is "htc wildfire". Using cm7 is not an option as surfing the web is soooo slow with cm7. (it takes 10 seconds to open google.com with cm7, 3 seconds with a sense rom)
So, what could be the problem?
Cheers guys.
It's your phone's wifi driver. It's said that even if you set your device's wifi to never sleep, the driver still becomes inactive after a while of no use.
Is there anything that i can do to solve this problem? Or just live with it?

If you want that rom, then I guess you'll have to just live with it (but just remember that you could switch to CyanogenMod and be on your way). This used to happen to me but I switched to CyanogenMod and I no longer have that problem.
Installed wifi fixer app and it works now...
The app itself keeps wifi connection busy by pinging a random ip i guess.
Have you disable WiFi auto disable after screen off under WiFi setting?

Hi guys,
I'm running Android 2.2 on my Touch Pro2, and since I have only 50MB of data/month (for now), I would like to disable background data when I'm not on Wifi and enable it when I'm connected to a network. Is that possible? I tried with Tasker, but it doesn't seem to work :/
Thanks
Sam
Disable mobile data. You can use wireless when it is disabled.

try apn on/off on the market for mobile data
Yeah, that was my last solution... In fact, it should do the work I guess, but if for example I want to go on Facebook when I'm on the bus, I'll have to enable it and the background data with it ... well, I'll give it a try and see if it's good for me! Thanks
Hello everyone,
I am running android 2.3.6 on my pocket galaxy.
Whenever i keep my wifi on for sometime and keep my mobile aside ,i doesn't connect to internet as soon as I again pick it up. Though it shows that it is connected but i have to switch wifi of my mobile off and them turn it on again. There is probably no issue with my internet connection or router because my tablet and laptop doesn't show similar problem that use the very same wifi signals for accessing internet.
Secondly, lets say i went out of home along with my mobile into an area where i don't get the wifi signals of my router and then came back, while wifi was on, mobile would not connect itself even after ten to fifteen minutes. I don't know whether there is any particular time interval for every mobile to scan for wifi but i guess it must be not more than two to three mins once you don't have signals.
Please tell me ,is it a hardware issue or software issue and how to fix it. Would be grateful .
