[Q] How to put Android 2.2 onto HD2? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not sure if this is in the right part of the forum, but please forgive me if its not.
Like many HD2 owners i've finally got bored of WinMo and i've seen that there are some working builds of Android ported onto the HD2.
I've tried following the stickies on how to flash Android but I get quite confused, on one thread it says I need to install HaRET to the phones memory first.
Another says I just need to download and install an SPL, and so forth.
Is there any step by step guides?
Right now i've downloaded a 2.2 Desire build at approx 120mb, a Radio ROM and 3 seperate files for the HSPL2(and HSPL3) as .exe files. My phone is an EU HD2 on Virgin Mobile. I just wish to have a clear guide on exactly what to do as don't want to brick my phone
Thanks

Not sure which stickies you've been reading, but HaRET and CLRCAD are already included in every recent android build (that I've downloaded anyway).
They need to be with the rest of the android files on your storage card.

It depends. Some (well most) people need to flash a new Radio ROM. Android requires 2.08 or higher. Many people also have problems with Android unless they flash a custom ROM as well. (In my experience the stock ROM has worked just fine.)

There are too many to count.
Everything you need to know about Android
How to flash everything, HSPL & HSPL2 and new HSPL3
Every Radio ROM you should ever need.
How to flash guide (for 512 Leo)
How to flash guide (for Tmous 1024 Leo)
All these guides and much more can be found with the "search" function.

Ok...
Step 1) Check your radio version. (This can be found under Settings-->About Phone-->Software Information-->Radio Version.
Step 2) If you have a radio version higher than 2.08 skip steps 2a & 2b
Step 2a) Install HSPL on your device. (Read the links provided on how to do that and which one to install)
Step 2b) Flash a new Radio ROM version higher than 2.08 (Again read the threads provided to make sure you flash a compatible Radio or you will brick your phone)
Step 3) Optional - Flash one of the custom ROMs known to work well with Android. (Once more, read the threads linked above)
Step 4) Copy Android folder to the root of your SD card. (Read Android thread)
Step 5) Get a boot loader like JMZ dual boot or Droidboot
Step 6) Donate to all the devs who spent considerable time and effort to bring android to the HD2

TyTn Rom Configuration

Hi to all.. i want to upgrade my tytn. I've read a lot & lot of threads, posts, wiki, but actually with all those method to flash & upgrade i don't understand nothing!
Here aer some steps, in accordance with THIS useful guide :
a) I make my pda superCID & verify it
b) I want to upgrade to ROM version 1.35.255.2
c) Now i want to flash the trynity gps enabled radio (1.35.00.11RadioOnly(GPS-Enabled)Trinity2Hermes-SSPL-comp.zip), but the ROM upgrade installs bootloader 1.09 as shown HERE.
The useful guide says that if i have a BL > 1.04 i can't perform a radio upgrade only (in my case GPS-Enabled)Trinity2Hermes-SSPL-comp.zip ) what i'm missing?
My Actual ROM is 1.18.xxxx & BootLoader is v 1.04
With the "configuration" mentioned above, will i have problems (BT, WiFi or GSM/UMTS ?)

You can now do radio only upgrades in other Bootloaders. Make your own or downlaod 1.27, 1.33, or 1.34 is already made and available on the WIki Radio Rom >Edited Wiki.
Well, i've had already downloaded the tool you're talking about... so
1)I make my devie supercid
2) use the tool & flash the 1.35.255.2 ROM
3) (At this point i should have BootLoader 1.04) flash RADIO
am i right? which RADIO should i use? i want to use THIS ONE (the first or second?) on the xda ftp
1.35.00.11RadioOnly(GPS-Enabled)Trinity2Hermes-SSPL-comp.zip
is stable or i have to install 1.27, 1.33, or 1.34 ?

All those radios are good, but make sure you FULLY understand the GPS thread. At the moment GPS will not work until a hardware mod is completed, the specs are not final yet.

Best method to flash new radio for Verizon xv6700

I have read two ways to flash a verizon phone:
1. This method is suggested by DCD here which involves downgrading bootloader and then installing radio, then upgrading bootloader then install 3.0.1.
See post #3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376150
2. The second method by Geckotek states that you only need to run the sprint and install dcd before customizations start.
See post #2, with the Geckotek quote in the middle: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376873
Which have you used? Anyone done both?
install the sprint rom to get the radio then flash to dcd's rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2036154#post2036154
DCD recently took down the radio only download and has since suggested Geckotek's method to be the best.

I just flashed Sprint update and then 3.0.1 and it is running. I am installing all programs and settings and will give more feedback soon.
So far, GPS is waaay quicker. I still use AstroLauncher, and it took 10 seconds in my house with only one window in view. This is why I upgraded and I am so pleased I did.
I did not need to get an Akey, and I used *228 option 1 without needing to authenticate. I did not need to enter MSID or MDS. I was up and running immediately.
I love that I get HTC splashscreen. I love the increased Ram over 2.3.1, and it seems smooth with no discernible differences so far. Will check back later.
HINT: Avoid hassles with multiple boot loaders, your USB connection and PC by flashing directly from the microSD card
Flashing via the microSD card
Format a microSD card into FAT32
From the kitchen's RUU directory, copy the ROM (RUU_signed.nbh) to the root of the microSD
Rename the ROM to TITAIMG.nbh
Insert your card.
Force into the boot loader with POWER-CAMERA-RESET
Follow the instructions and you'll quickly flash your Titan...
This will work to flash with an official ROM and radio, I think regardless of the boot loader you have installed. But ensure that you do have the correct boot loader (olipro 2.40 for this ROM) installed for when you do eventually finish with your flashing and are ready to boot into your chosen OS.
If just flashing to obtain the radio from an official ROM, then after its flash do not boot into its OS (risks running a customisation and reprogramming your phone), just force entry back into the boot loader to flash your final OS ROM from the microSD card.
That is the quickest and safest method to flash. Your choice to consider if it's the best, .

unlock device, what is it and how do you do it?

yesterday i upgraded my qtek 9000 and a brand new x7500. i want to install the 3.0 version on it. but ive read that i first have to unlock my x7500 before i can install 3.0. can someone send me a tutorial or something to do this? i really don t know where to start.......
Is your device locked to a specific mobile carier? Then you need to Unlock for using with other cariers.
Not sure if ROM upgrades require unlocking but they need HardSPL which is often found along with the ROM upgrade or in this forum separately.

hi. My device is NOT locked by a mobile carier. What is hardSPL?
For "unlock" your device you need the Athena Unlocker:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315831
Without this you cant update an other ROM to your device.
Here is a wiki page about the hardslp (for hermes, sorry):
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_HardSPL
More questions?
bye
can i add you to my msn so we can talk for 10 minutes? I need some more info
.com
There are plenty of threads on the subject - and everything is covered. If not then post questions here.
I really hate it when people ask to add me to MSN to answer questions because they can't be assed to RTFM
All I wanted was to have some direct (fast) chat. SORRY
I have bought an original HTC X7500 (not locked by any mobile carier, i think). All I would like to know are some basis steps WHAT I need to do in order to upgrade to 3.0 PK.
I ve just checked something and can give the following infomation. Maybe you guys can make something of this and what I will need to do:
ATHE100
IPL-v1.00
ATHE100
SPL-v1.10.0000
Have you actually read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=346221 ?
there are tutorials including a video already on this available on this subject, read the thread that has been suggested and do a search for unlocker.
sorry if that sounds rude but theres plenty been written on this already lots of times, without people having to repeat themselves over and again
the video is very self explanatory
again guys, I m really sorry
So if I understand correctly I need OliPro's hardspl OR unlocker found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316846 and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315831.
Is it correct if I say that the unlocker does a SIMunlock AND CIDunlock, and the hardspl only does CIDunlock?
So now I only have to do is find out IF my device is SIMlocked or not? Do you maybe give me a hint how to check this?
Correct things if I m wrong please, and again, sorry......
If it's an HTC it won't be SIM locked - only carriers lock the phones to themselves.

1. Go to wiki, read everything concerning unlocker, upgrading rom, and radio. Read it carefully. If you're completely clueless, it's not going to give you a complete walkthrough, but should be read.
2. Go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316846
Read first post and download Athena wrapper. Put all downloads in a folder you can easily find and distinguish from any roms or unlockers you may download.
3. Go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319993
Download a radio. I'm using 1.50.00.00, i'm not sure where the new one is. Try different ones though, once your comfortable with the process, they say some radios work better in different areas.
4. Go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=346221
Read ALL of the first to posts. Download the ROM file. I would suggest the add-ons too, and see which ones you like.
5. You will have to extract all of these files. You will need Winrar to unpack the rom.
6. Backup any data you want to keep from your Athena. Remove mini SD and SIM. Hard reset your Athena, and select to format microdrive.
7. Be sure your Athena is fully charged. I don't think it has to be a complete charge, but it won't hurt. At least 60%.
8. Turn off all energy save options on your Athena. You don't want it to power down halfway through the operation. You will also need to disable any sleep\hibernatin modes on your PC.
9. You will need ActiveSync 4.5, Windows xp, and .net2.0 framework with all servicepacks. If your not sure about the framework, go to micrsoft and search for a download. Run the installer, if it says its already installed, select 'repair.' This is more than likely not necessary, but it won't hurt anything. Connect Athena to PC, and wait until its fully synchronized.
10. Run the Athena Wrapper. Follow all instructions. Its very simple, but do EXACTLY as it says.
11. Run the RUU file in the radio folder, follow all instructions.
12. Run the RUU file in the AP3 rom folder. Follow all instructions.
13. If desired, extract and run the add-ons.
14. Donate to Athena Project, or Pawel, or Olipro, or somebody.
15. If you screw this up, don't tell anyone, I wouldn't anyway.

Uh Oh. Did I just trash my Titan?

I've been a long time lurker here and I just recently acquired an XV6800 (currently suffering with an i760). I have read the Titan Wiki (as well as countless other pages, and yes, I did search before asking) and I think I may have just made a mistake.
I had a stock 1.04 bootloader on it and following the directions I found here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanRecentHome
I upgraded to the nueSPL 2.47 package. I used the SD card to do the upgrade. From what I can tell, the bootloader installed just fine. The program ran successfully and when I check my bootloader (camera-power-reset) it shows that 2.47 is installed.
What I neglected to do was read the "IMPORTANT" section first. (I know, I know...) My phone has a version 2.xx (stock) ROM on it, not 3.xx.
Did I just brick my phone, or is there something I should do to try and reverse changing the bootloader? Or, am I fine, and I don't really need to worry about this?
Thanks for all your help in advance,
Dustin
lol no your Phone is OK.. and this goes to ANYONE .. if your Phone boots
(to the bootloader 4 color screen) your Phone is ok .. just need to load
up the correct Radio or OS ROM / custom OS ROM..
ok DustinEarnhardt
to fix your issue .. I take it .. you just unlock your phone and loaded a GPS Radio?
if so all you need is to load a new OS ROM, put your Phone back in bootloader made ..
connect it to the computer .. when you see "USB" on the screen you are ready to load a new OS ROM ..
simple download any custom OS ROM you like then run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe
thats all you need to do.. unless you did not load the correct Radio .. then
you'll need to load up a new radio as well..
BTW the only time a Phone is "trash" is when you can't get in to SPL bootloader mode
BTW you can load a new Radio via Flash or USB ..
I made a little RUU for USB Radio flash .. but its very easy
via an mSD card .. just put the radio file with the name "TITAIMG.NBH"
on your mSD card and plug it in .. you can do the same
for OS ROMs as well..
Thank you for the quick response! This place is great!
To clarify, basically right now, I have a stock ROM and radio, with a 2.47 bootloader. I can get the 4 color bootloader screen no problem, and the phone boots normally to the stock OS ROM and operates.
My next step (again following the guide here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanRecentHome ) is to upgrade the radio ROM to Titan Radio ROM 3.42.02. I'm basing this on the decision to use the dcd 3.2.6 kitchen. It was recommended here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=dcdtitanroms to use that Radio ROM. (Oh and I'm using dcd 3.2.6 because from everything I've read, its the most stable at the current writing.)
Hopefully there are no huge problems with what I'm about to do, but if there is, maybe someone can stop me before I try to do this later tonight.
yp thats about it..
Load up a new Radio .. I like "3.42.50" then load up any OS ROM you like..

well I have a easier way to load up Radio ROM via USB .. that Howto steps is a bit hard to go by...
but it should work..

[Q]Need some advise about flashing back to windows mobile

hi
My friend has an HD2 with Nand Android on it and he wants to flash back to windows mobile
So here are my questions:
Should I perform a task7(If I remember correctly,task 7 wipes away everything on the phone,right?) ?
what is the most stable official winmoblie rom for it?and what HSPL and Radio versions does it want and where can I download it?
If I just install that official rom (with the RUU it gives me),Won't it do all the things I want?(like flash the required hspl and radio and wipe away all android related things? If not how should I remove android ?
thanks in advance
First thing to do is determine if a TMOUS (red/green end & call keys) HD2 or standard EU HD2 (all buttons are white icon) as flashing wrong ROMs to TMOUS version results in a bricked device.
You probably best going for latest WWE version if standard HD2 & if TMOUS version go to HD2 wiki as have link for TMOUS ROMs
You can dump the nbh file from within the exe direct to sd card for flashing but not the best option really as likely to run into CID issues as HSPL will be removed when flash via SD method & could cause more problems than it worth.
I would do via PC & usb cable & install best match HSPL for ROM you choose then install ROM via exe & RUU flasher. The radio will also be flashed with what packaged with ROM you have chosen.
Once flashed I always recommend doing hard reset to make sure all is loaded correctly from newly flashed ROM & reduce likely first flash/setup glitches.
If after super stable bug free WM6.5 I would also consider looking at custom ROMs from NRG & the standard looking but much improved CleanEX Standard V1.02
Roms can be found here:
