[Q]Need some advise about flashing back to windows mobile - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
My friend has an HD2 with Nand Android on it and he wants to flash back to windows mobile
So here are my questions:
Should I perform a task7(If I remember correctly,task 7 wipes away everything on the phone,right?) ?
what is the most stable official winmoblie rom for it?and what HSPL and Radio versions does it want and where can I download it?
If I just install that official rom (with the RUU it gives me),Won't it do all the things I want?(like flash the required hspl and radio and wipe away all android related things? If not how should I remove android ?
thanks in advance

First thing to do is determine if a TMOUS (red/green end & call keys) HD2 or standard EU HD2 (all buttons are white icon) as flashing wrong ROMs to TMOUS version results in a bricked device.
You probably best going for latest WWE version if standard HD2 & if TMOUS version go to HD2 wiki as have link for TMOUS ROMs
You can dump the nbh file from within the exe direct to sd card for flashing but not the best option really as likely to run into CID issues as HSPL will be removed when flash via SD method & could cause more problems than it worth.
I would do via PC & usb cable & install best match HSPL for ROM you choose then install ROM via exe & RUU flasher. The radio will also be flashed with what packaged with ROM you have chosen.
Once flashed I always recommend doing hard reset to make sure all is loaded correctly from newly flashed ROM & reduce likely first flash/setup glitches.
If after super stable bug free WM6.5 I would also consider looking at custom ROMs from NRG & the standard looking but much improved CleanEX Standard V1.02

Few questions about roms

Hi guys,
I´ve read a lot of posts here at xda.
But i have few questions before i try to upgrade.
First of all, my RADIO version is not listed anywhere here. It is 1.58.21.26. So if i SuperCid it, is there a problem to put another radio version?
2 - If i install another ROM(original or cooked), is there a way to go back to the default rom that it´s in my phone? even after i installed other radio version?
3- supercid, hardspl, sspl or uspl? wich one is better or keeps my original rom and radio??
Thanks!!!!
1. If you CID, and use HardSPL (1.22 latest i believe) you should have no problems flashing new Radios or ROM's.
2. When you flash a new ROM your current one is over written (after you have flashed it you have to set up the OS again - all data stored in phone memory will be lost).
3. They are all different Things. HardSPL permanently updates the SPL on your phone allowing you to flash a new ROM when ever with bricking your phone. SSPL (SoftSPL) allows you to flash a new ROM (or radio, or hspl) 1 time then returns to the normal SPL. uspl, I'm not sure about I have never used it before. and CID unlocks the device to all networks and allows you to flash any ROM (rather than just ones from your carrier or official HTC ones. NONE of these will preserve your ROM if you flash a new one. however if you just flash these bits they should not effect windows or your radio.
DO NOT put a new ROM on your phone until you have unlocked it and put HardSPL or SoftSPL on it. If your brick your phone its near impossible to get it working again!
Questions before proceeding.
My HTC NIKI100 was unlocked for any carrier through the IMEI code, it also has the original radio 1.58.21.26. Perform the installation process of HARDSPL 1:22 as the tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355730 and got success! now I can put a new radio or need to do the procedures as SuperCID here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395945 ???

[Q] htc hd2 stock rom 6.5.3

can somebody please help me, I have flashed 5 different ROM's to my vodafone HD2 and have encountered a varying degree of problems with each one. I would very much like somebody to tell me where I can get a Stock ROM not locked to any carrier so I can reflash my pretty usless fone or indeed to help direct me to a stable cooked ROM that would allow my fone to work again.
Thanks is advance.
P.s - my first post so please be gently, also the last 3 I have tried are Artemis ROM's with no sucessful outcomes.

there is no stock rom that is 6.5.x They are all 6.5
Not sure what you mean by stock rom not locked to a carrier, , do you mean a non branded rom (the ones marked HTC WWE, look HERE or in the various threads in the rom development section.) or do you mean you want to unlock your phone to use any network? in which case no amount of any kind of flashing will do that. Ask voda for a code, or buy one online.
Sounds to me like you need to return all the way to stock and start over. Get any of the voda roms from that link above (theyre marked vodaphone, you cant miss em, theres a 1,43 one, a 1.66 one ((if you're a brit)) or 1.72 if you have a european language voda.
Get that, and either
1 - remove hspl by running hspl.exe and choosing 1.66.0000
then
2 - run the downloaded rom.exe and flash over usb
or
1 - extract ruu_signed.nbh from the rom.exe you downloaded,(look it up if you dont know how) copy it to a formatted fat32 sd card smaller than 8gb, and rename it leoimg.nbh then start the phone into bootloader and it will ask you if you want to flash.
that way you are back to teh start, and you can apply hspl and start again.
(For people reading this thinking 'he didnt say do a task29',, its my understanding that using the official .exe to flash the rom does a task 29 anyway, and its been edited out of customruu.exe so it can be used to flash radios without wiping the rom,,,correct? yes no?)
I try 6 Rom but noone will work fine
Vodafone rom 1.72
I am not looking to unlock the fone, simply find a Rom that is 6.5.3 that is stable. I have just flashed back to voda 1.72 but that is 6.5, im fussy and don't like the start button at the top. I'm in scotland so need something that will work here ok on vodafone.
I was hoping to find a rom that had not been altered and as such an original (Stock) ROM.
your help is much appreciated.
There are no such stock roms for the HD2. If you want to flash a stable rom in the style you like (start button at the bottom) then you will need to HSPL (search the forum) your phone and I suggest you start with Dutty's rom. It's very stable and as close to stock as can be. You can always flash back to an original rom for warranty reasons if you need to.
tnx, trying one now. fingers crossed.
ok, just flashed one of duttys roms but now my phone will not boot, it turns on and stays at the htc splash screen. Wont turn off have to pull out the battery. If it will not boot how can I re-flash it? Any suggestions?
did you flash hspl? you will also need the newer radio 2.15.50_04
Quote from Dutty's first page:
Things to Know how about my ROMs:
* HSPL 1.66 Minimum required

I hope you did some reading before you flashed!!
Put your phone into bootloader by holding the vol down side key and use a pen to push the little reset button when the back cover is removed. You should get a tri colour screen which shows you the hspl version you have. If you do this you can flash the correct radio which is probably why the phone will not boot.
all I have done previously is downloaded .nbh files and used SSPL_RUU.exe to flash and they have all flashed sucessfully, but with the after effects of either connection problems or freezing issues.
I have managed to re-flash to the vodafone 1.72 software so at least it is working again, this is not by any means where my talents lie. im a hardware guy, not software, so finding this all a bit confusing. I may just go with the artemis v33 rom which seemed to work the best apart from occassion signal dropouts.
Just out of curiosity - which hspl and radio are you using?
in the settings it says radio 2.07.51.22-2 and i believe the hspl was 1.42

If you are sure it's SPL, than your problems are normal sir. To be able to flash custom ROM you need HSPL ex (1.66 HSPL)
is there another way to check other than in bootloader?

[Q] Unable to flash any ROM without HSPL

Hi all
Apologies if this has been covered before but I cannot find anything thus far. I upgraded my HTC HD2 (Vodafone branded) from 1.72 to 3.1.4. As the device was branded I had to use HSPL (version 3) as Vodafone had no specific version, at that time, and thus used the generic HTC version as it was all that was available at that time. This seemed fine until I hit the, what I now know to be the memory issue, with this combination. At this point after trying a number of custom ROM's, I am using a Dutty Custom ROM (V12, COM2). I decided today, as I just discovered that Vodafone now have their own specific 3.1.4 ROM update available I would flash the 3.1.4 ROM, which I was able to download legitimately from the HTC web site, using my serial number.
I first flashed the stock ROM in the vain hope that the Vodafone had fixed the memory issue. They haven't and thus I decided to remove HSPL. I did this from the installation program and chose the 0000 option which removes HSPL. I then rather stupidly decided to run a task 29, which of course, failed at 0% and just hung totally. It did not time out after 10 minutes, at which point I had no option but to remove the battery and data cable. Fortunately the phone booted up and ran normally. I thus decided to re-flash with the legitimate Vodafone 3.1.4 ROM. as the memory issue still persisted. It failed at 0% just as with the task 29. I now cannot flash ANY Rom unless I install HSPL. I have only tried version 3 thus far.
Any ideas how I can get my phone loaded up with my genuine 3.1.4 Vodafone branded ROM without HSPL and thus avoid the memory issue and load genuine ROMS and updates please? For now I am back to using the Dutty V12, COM2 ROM. Any ideas most gratefully recieved and apologies if this has been covered before.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Paul Lemonidis.
Try flashing to HSPL 2 not 3, and read this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
Russ
Flash your vodafone stock ROM over SD.
And to be able to install custom ROM, use SSPL_RUU
phone into bootloader
connect usb
run hspl2
choose 1.66.0000
when phone restarts immediately re enter bootloader
run the voda 3.14 rom flash over usb
Thanks
I flashed from an SD Card and all was well. I can now reflash the same version, which I could not before, without HSPL. Thus for the moment I no longer need HSPL. Thus my warranty is valid again and I have a stable phone with the latest correct vendor ROM. I may try a custom ROM again at some point in the future if I experience problems but at least I can say I gave it a fair chance.
As a sideline, Swype works beautifully with this ROM.
Once again many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Paul Lemonidis.

Take the 1.72 ROM and use the flash from the SD Card method. This will get you back your memory.
The reason for the memory problems is a combination of 3.14 ROM and HSPL.

[Q] HTC HD2 - Screwed after trying to downgrade..need help!

Hello to all xdas !
Recently I flashed magldr + hspl + Android (hyperdroid) on my HD2 NAND.
Yesterday I decided to downgrade back to some of the WM stock roms, and downloaded the one from htc.com .. - 3.14.405.2 and then.... the **** happened. I tried to flash the stock rom by copying RUU_signed.nbh --> SD>leoimg.nbh and then 'vol down + power'... the flashing started and suddenly errored
Currently when I try to turn on my phone I get one of these messages:
====vol down + power startup ====
HX-BC
SPL-3.03.0000 XE
MicroPL(Led) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x30
Upgrade ROM code error
Please try again
====Normal start (power) ====
Software update failed.
Please try again.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I have read similiar problems, where flashing the very stock rom works, but none of the solutions worked for me. Till now I already tried this:
- tried flashing stock [1.44 /1.43/ 1.66]WWE / NRG rom, all resulted in Error 294- Invalid Vendor ID
- tried flashing HSPL - Error - Invalid SPL version
Here is my device serial:
S/N: HT9CFNW01324
Now I'm stucked.... please help !
Regards

The solution provided here worked like a charm:

- Update WMDC to v6.1
- Install HSPL by running HSPL4
- ..... voalaa
ID error because you have stock SPL & the ROM you are trying is not stock to your HD2 network providers CID lock.
You either source correct original provider ROM or install a HSPL using HSPL4 & then flash ROM.
Flashing NRG with a HSPL installed & a popular Radio is the way to go for a great WM6.5.x experience on HD2.
Go to NRG thread & read up on flashing tips ect
I currently use NRG WM(23699) on mine & can't fault it, if you like WM & know how to use it well it is far better than Android for stability & professional use.

Thanks for your reply!
Honestly before ending with the working HSPL 4 solution, I tried flashing all kind of stock roms I could find, but it seemed almost impossible to find the right one (the original STOCK ROM for my device). Also I could not find the rom on the HTC.com site, and the functinality time ago where you provide a serial and download rom wasn't there.
Before I flashed the hyperdroid I have already used some of the popular roms including the NRGY one, but there was a curiousity for testing the [an]droid speed Now I flashed NRGY again and in comparison with the hyperdroid it is REAL FAST

[Q] Need help flashing stock rom!

I currently have a MIUI android ROM installed but want to go back to WinMo 6.5 (stock). Now when i try to flash the ROM like i did before, its says on my PC USB Init failed, connection problem. The bootloader screen does say usb. Also when I try to flash trough the MAGLDR flash modus there is USB standing but i cant flash. I've also tried flashing the stock ROM from my SD card as an NBH file but it wont work.. Also repartitioning and all the stuff dont work because they all have te connection problem. I have tried multiple USB cables. Anyone know a solution??
you say that the SD flash doesn't work, can you elaborate a bit more?
explain everything you did, what ROM did you try, if you can give me the whole step by step you tried to SD card flash, including and file name changes etc
SD flash is usually the last resort and if you tried it with a genuine original Stock ROM it should work, albeit it will change the RADIO, SPL and ROM at the same time...
Hello,
I intend to downgrade my hd2 Europe version, from Android with Magldr, to stock Rom,
because of some bootloops i encounter after trying install wp7, so i want to start from scratch and try flashing wp7 or Android again!
I have HSPL 2.08 and i want to flash a Greek Stock Rom
(RUU_Leo_S_HTC_ELL_3.14.482.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship)
OR
(HTC HD2-RUU_Leo_HTC_ELL_1.66.482.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship_2).
My radio is 2.15.50.14.
So far i have made some research and i understand that:
1st. i must flash a stock Rom from SD.
2nd. The hspl will be replaced with stock SPL. Do i need to flash HSPL 3.03, as 3.14 ROMs on HTC HD2 Eu require SPL 3.03.0000 or HSPL 3.03, before flashing stock Rom from SD? What about 1.66 Rom?
The stock SPL version depends from the Rom which i would choose, or will be the same?
after that I just need to run HSPL4, install HSPL2.08 and continue with Magldr as i have done in the past?
Is there something I should be extremely careful so as not I have a fatal problem?
Thanks in advance everyone who will help a confused man!!!

just follow the guide on the relevant ROM that your interested in
but if your playing with WP then use HSPL 2.08
if your flashing a stock ROM via SD as you pointed out it will replace the SLP with the one that comes with that ROM, so it doesn't matter what you do, then you can use HSPL4 to install the required version for the ROM that you want to use. You can use HSPL 4 to revert back to a stock SPL as well, but if you have any doubt at all then just re flash a original stock ROM, you cant go wrong at all then
Well, if i try to flash anything from my pc it says connection error. When I use flasher modus the HD2 freezes and i need to pull out the battery. I also tried flashing the stock ROM from my SD card but that also doesnt work. I use MAGLDR 1.13 and HSPL 2.08 i think. The current ROM is MyMIUI V11.
i managed to install the stock rom but now i cannot install magldr. When i start the installation the hd2 shows bootloader, then goes into the installation screen but after 1 second it flashes back to bootloader.. any help?
are you putting the phone in to the tri coloured bootloader with the word "serial" at the bottom? plug in to a USB port and the word changes to "USB" then install MAGLDR?
just so im clear what you have tried
