I have done a search here and Google and cannot find out what triggers the dock modes on the Vibrant. Does anyone have any idea ? Just to be clear. I mean what triggers the Vibrant to go into one of the dock modes when it is put in to a physical OEM dock.
I know there is an app you can get, but I don't think there is a magnet like the Droid.
Car Home
Desk Home
I'm guessing you could use Tasker and have it load up your Desk Home when it senses power.
Reading the advert for the upcoming car dock I know it does it automatically but I cannot find out how. HTC I believe use a shorted pin in the Car charger on the usb.

It seems that a new landscape mode app was included in the new update. Is there a chance I could get that apk ripped?

Is there no way to get it?
This drives me absoulty bonkers, that the phone doesn't turn landscape. I can understand they don't want to program the widgets to do that. But all I want is one screen while I'm at work that will turn landscape that will give me some basic info. Mainly email and a couple of widgets. This is my biggest frustation with this phone.
I would like to get this apk too. I have a stock rom, first OTA update and nothing for landscape mode installed. I had my phone in some weird mode after plugging in a car charger. The car dock app came up and when I hit the home button, I got the home screen. Turned the phone landscape and the home screen turn landscape. Every screen was able to turn to landscape now but when I made a call, the speaker phone enabled automatically. My phone was this way even after killing the car dock app. I thought there was some update to allow landscape but after pulling the battery, no more auto speaker phone (what I wanted) but the landscape mode was gone too. Has anyone else seen this?
I have purchased the official HTC dock for the EVO 3D although I think I am going to go for the iGrip one instead and return this. I have however come across a problem in that when I put the phone into the holder, it does not switch into car mode and the dialer and front screen are all still in portrait.
I can't find any reference to car mode in any of the settings and the Car Mode app that is supposed to toggle car mode does nothing. I have tried CarHomeUltra and that launches a nice landscape display but when I link to the dialler it is again in portrait. Literally none of the useful screens like the dialler or people switch to landscape.
Kinda peeved about this and would really welcome some advice. Many thanks.
did u ever find an answer to this?
How the heck do you keep this thing from going to sleep in the vehicle dock? I am coming from a Bionic and it NEVER used to do this...grrrrrrrr (frustrated)
And "smart actions" will not fix this issue...
neither will keep screen on while charging...
Running ICS 4.0.4

That's really strange. I have the nav dock as well and the screen only dims to keep it from overheating and burning the amoled.
And if that's not annoying enough, VZ navigator keeps popping up every time i put the phone in the dock
I just disabled vz navigator. Never used it so disabled it.
I have the same frustration. Does the Razr have a magnetic sensor that identifies when it's in dock? i don't have a Motorola dock but my Droid 1 had such a sensor.
I cannot make Tasker solve this issue either. I have tried setting it up to stay on when in motion, when connected to BT audio, connected to USB and neither Smart Actions or Tasker will keep the display on. It's maddening.
mordo
UPDATE: I can only successfully keep the screen on when I have no screen lock at all. I suppose I can create a Tasker profile that will disable screen lock when connected to USB charging or when BT audio is connected.
This is a new feature with ICS. I never had this problem on GB. It does not happen all the time either and I have not figure out why it sometimes sleeps in car dock and other times does not. Also annoying with ICS is that home button does not take you to car home, but to regular home screen. Only way I have found to get to car home after hitting home button is to undock and redock.

I'm running a Droid4 with ICS and use it with the Motorola car dock. When I'm using the phone on its own, I like having the slide screen lock so I can immediately go to phone, text etc. However, when I'm using the phone in the car dock, I have no use for the screen lock. I generally turn the screen off when driving unless I want to make a call or switch audio tracks. This requires paying attention to the phone for a second or so to make sure I'm sliding the right location which feels unsafe. I'd like to keep the screen lock on normally and not have to manually switch it to none when docked. Is this a built in capability that I'm missing somehow? I didn't see a way to do this with smart actions (which I already use for a couple tasks). Any thoughts?
Until my S4, I have pretty much been a Moto phone owner. I did have a brief fling with a Thunderbolt but that phone was god awful.
Whenever I docked any of my moto devices (D1, Bionic, RAZR MAXX) depending on what kind of dock it went in, the phones would just enter the correct dock mode. I had it set that when in my desktop dock Alarm Clock Plus would come to the front and be the active application. When in car mode, G Maps would become the active app.
I have purchased the official Samsung multimedia desktop dock as well as the official Samsung vehicle dock. When I dock to either of them, nothing special happens at all. The phone will light up the lock screen when it sees the power applied, but aside from that, 30 seconds later the screen turns back off no matter what app is running (exceptions being navigation (not just maps) and alarm clock plus. If in either docks, something like Slacker will run fine but the screen turns off at the defined times. This is not how things worked with any of my motos. This is a rather annoying problem especially with the car dock as I am constantly going to fiddle with the screen to get G Maps back to being visible. I don't like the idea of having to manually change the screen timeout every time I use the phone in my car as I *know* one time I will forget to turn the screen timeout back to normal and when I reach to use my phone the battery will be dead.
Is there a way to get the screen to stay on when docked? Is there a way to have a default app launch when docking in a specific dock? I know I could have disabled whatever sammy program manages the docks, but I have not disabled anything which has dock in the name (not that I even see one).
I have searched the forums, but my lame searches did not turn up anything.
