Can someone please tell me if the dimensions are exactly the same between the T-Mobile Vibrant (T959) and the Bell Vibrant (I9000). I looked around and some places say the T959 is 64.5mm wide while the I9000 is 64.2mm (otherwise the same), but I think this is just round off error. Can anyone confirm?
I'm looking to get an SGP Ultra Silke case (this one here), and I was wondering if it would fit the I9000.
Can someone just check the width of their T-Mobile Vibrant please? Thanks!
I ordered a I9000 case for my Vibrant and it fits perfectly. It's a hard rubber case and it's solid. I don't know if that helps you, but just wanted to let you know.
That sounds good. I was just wondering because I don't want the camera hole to misalign with the camera lens or something important. I figure <1mm won't have much of an affect though and there is probably more variance from production anyway. Thanks! I'll give the case a try!
What about the back covers--are they interchangeable?

If you remove the back cover of your phone, you'll notice that in the bottom of the case say i9000

Hello,
Today, I am not happy. 2.1 is delayed yaddy yaddy ya.
But I am stuck with the phone until mid-2012 so I may as well get what I want from it.
Sadly I was stuck with T-Mobile when I got the phone and due to this I have the "Sensuous Black" version of the phone.
I did really want the white one so does anyone know were I can get OEM white casing from? Or even a bricked White Xperia X10
(I will probably see a lot of white xperia's on ebay within the next... hour but they will still probably be overpriced even when no one wants them haha)
Thanks in advance.

I think that is the tope bit I am talking about, after looking at a disassembly guide
hey guys getting a vibrant with a cracked digitizer for my g/f. correct me if im wrong but it appears to be next to impossible to replace just the digitizer from what i read.... (please comment if you have done it) i see the i9000 parts are cheaper everywhere but the buttons are different. i wont be running a stock rom on it and i plan on adding a ffc so....
1. would it be physically possible to use the i9000 replacement screen on it?
2. would the buttons be a problem? not sure what the square one on the i9000 is (trackpad?) or where the home button is if there is one....
3. does anyone have a clue or am i the first to bring this up? i have searched my self silly!
4. digitizers are cheap should i just try to replace it? whos done it and what do you glue the new screen with? (i cant find any decent write ups)
i know the i9000 and vibrant have diff roms but im hopping that has to do with the radios etc. maybe i can edit the keyboard file or something to make it work.. but not sure about that pad thing...
i know this is alot of questions and i dont expect one answer. if anyone has any knowledge on any of this id really appreciate it and thanks in advance!!! id like to join the samsung crew as ive always had htc (since g1) but always secretly wanted a samsung too haha so what better excuse than to get the gf one

Sorry to tell you but the i9000 screen wont work at all. You will mess up your phone up big time if you start messing with the screen/digitizer as its one unit. Call samsung repair and that may be your best bet for a new screen replacement.

It's not possible.
Call Samsung, maybe you can get it replaced for free (or really cheap).
I'm guessing that you don't have a warranty with T-Mobile, because they cover this (my screen was damaged, and I got a replacement).
The 'pad thing' is actually a big iPhone style physical home key - it's plasticky and ugly, and the reason I got the Vibrant over the i9000. You definitely won't be able to use i9000 components on the Vibrant, the i9000 screen and digitizer are built to accommodate that button, not the Vibrant's four capacitive keys.
They have the same back, though, so you can use i9000 cases and battery doors just fine.

Well if I used the i9k parts I would swap housing LCD and digitizer all together so the button and everything would be there. I'm pretty sure it would physically go on but not sure if I can get the buttons to actually work. I know you can edit the keypad file as I've done it on my mytouch 4g but not sure if that's all I'd need to do or not :/ figured someone might have been in a situation that they tried it and couldn't hurt to ask. I have warrenty and insurance on my mytouch but I'm buying the broken vibrant out right so I'd think I could buy the parts and put them in myself cheaper than anyone would charge... I've repplaced the screens on several phones already so not a problem there. Guess that's what ill do.
Another thing Id consider is the vibrant 4g screen as it has the spot for the ffc unpainted already and everything else appears identicle but only place I see it for sale there's a min 2 per order >< has anyone ever successfully replaces just the digitizer? Its sold seporate for 35 and I read you need a new ribon as its almost impossible to pull LCD from digitizer without tearing the cable.
Hi, i just wondering if we can replace Samsung Vibrant screen with the Samsung Galaxy S 4G one so that we don't need to manually make a hole for our front facing camera, is that possible?
If so, that would be really awesome.
any body?
I dont see why not except, isnt the screen glued on and wouldn't removing the screen make it impossible to re-attach another
I think u could...as long as u carefully remove the old glue with some goo gone or something like it..but im not sure what kinda glue to use to reattach the screen

Can we use an entire LCD/Digitizer/Bezel assembly? I'm thinking of buying this

I've installed an FFC on my vibrant. You don't need a new screen. You just need to take apart the phone from the back. The bezel doesn't even have to come off. Get yourself a Revision 2 FFC and when you go to install it, the only thing you'll need is a guitar pick (works great) or another safe prying tool to take the phone apart, Goo-Gone and Q-Tips. The hardest part of the whole process is the amount of time you'll be sitting there taking the black paint off the screen with the Goo-Gone. It's taken me about 30 minutes on two phones I've done. The hole is already there. Your phone will look just like the Galaxy S 4G!
Thanks for the reply, but the Vibrant my friend gave me has a cracked screen and bezel that I have to replace anyway. I figured it might be easier to just buy a new screen with a camera hole already (which the T959V does have) than to scrape out one.
Also what rom do you recommend? Seems they all have problems - unstable, no 911, no gps etc.

as far as roms go for 911, only the Cyangen based roms have that issue, gps fonuctions on almost all 2.3 roms, and all 2.1/2.2 roms. stability really seems based on the device. i use Miui as a daily driver, yet i see people complain about issues that in the 5 months of running it I have never personally experienced.

I know this is really late and a bit off topic to be honest, but to anyone interested, I just used a LCD/Digitizer/Bezel/microphone/antennae assembly out of a Vibrant to put in my SGS4G. Different application, but I'm sure it'll work the same given the circumstances of any one still wanting to put a front facing camera in their Vibrant. The only difference is I had to switch out the ear piece/audio jack/proximity sensor assembly because it had a different connector on the board. This is the lazy fix for someone who has both phones, but needs to swap out certain parts. In my case it was the entire screen and bezel, but this confirms the OP's question, yes it will work.
Just thought I post results since I came to this thread in the first place looking for answers.
I bought an international unit as well as the At&t version on contract. Does anyone know if I can swap the screens? I prefer the speed of the international version but the buttons on the US version.
I will be getting a plastic pry tomorrow and going ahead with the procedure. Would people be interested in seeing if it works? I'll include pictures.

What makes u think the screens are different?
Posting pics of the procedure would be very cool, but it isn't likely to work totally smoothly. The I777 and I9100 (AT&T and international GS2 variants) are nearly identical in hardware but devs needed to do some rewiring to make the buttons work from I9100 ROMs on I777. You might want to check out Entropy's hellraiser thread; he can probably give you further advice on how to fix up the key mappings. I'm pretty sure it involves modifications to the kernel though, so be careful.
I'd rather go the other way. I want to put the screen/buttons from my international note into my AT&T Note. That way I get LTE, but I also get the sane button layout with physical home key capable of waking the screen. I'm pretty disappointed with the layout on the AT&T Note. If they must insist on the crappy 4-strip of capacitive buttons, they could've at least put the less used search on the far left, which is the hardest place to reach, leaving home, back, and menu easier to hit one-handed.
I don't think is screen related. The processor in the international version is supposed to be faster, which is what makes it smoother man.

It's probably a bad thread title, but what he means is put the entire front assembly from the I717 on the N7000 so that he has international internals with a four-capacitive-button layout. The display panels should be identical, yes.

Update
Welp, I took both devices apart yesterday and here are the photos.
As one can see the LCD assembly chassis are slightly different between the two versions, thus I was unable to swap the screens. Although I felt if I separated the LCD chassis from the LCD itself I might have succeeded. However this step would have exposed the LCD to particulates, i.e. dust, and would have been a pain to perform without a clean room.
There are some slight differences in the "guts" of the system. Mainly the memory card reader in the International Note (IN) is soldered onto the board vs. the AT&T version which is connected via a cable.
The speaker/usb charger portion also had slight differences which I failed to take an adequate photo of. The ATT version seemed to be adhered to the chassis while the IN could be removed, hence the picture without the speaker.
Both devices have been reassembled and it was fun to compare between the two.
Cheers
I finally checked out the SGNote today in an AT&T store for an hour (both it & a case fits in my pockets & feels fine in my hand/s but the huge screen is startling at first then I started getting used to it) but they did not yet make the S-Pen available to play with (fearing people would steal it I guess).
One thing I did not see was Settings->Display-Screen Mode->"Dynamic, Standard, Movie"?
A Google now turned up:
http://phandroid.com/2012/02/18/samsung-galaxy-note-review/
"One of things sadly missing from the Note (and is present in the Epic 4G Touch) was the Screen Mode option in the display settings. Not exactly sure why all Samsung SAMOLED devices don’t have this option but it was disappointing to see this left out of the Note. Being able to turn down/max out the amount of color saturation on your SAMOLED device is one of the best ideas since.. well, SAMOLED."
WTF? Why? -Thanx
AT&T...Need I say more? Why they can't just leave any phone alone is beyond me.
It's in the international one, but not the at&t version??
I just checked mine, it's there (international)

Sorry just noticed http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1494 but I'm still curious from people here as well why AT&T removed this?

I assume if I get the AT&T version, root it I could add it back?
How easily? Please confirm -Thanx
