I attempted to follow the procedure in:
the broadbandgenie blog, entry title: 20100822-how-debrand-htc-desire-update-froyo
and after running the updater (RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe) the device went off and will not startup.
- All I get is a operating beep, black screen and illuminated buttons and upper led.
I started out with a brand new O2 branded phone.
If I try to turn it on and plug in to PC, device makes a bird tweet sound and PC identifies it a an empty removable disk drive (with no inserted disc).
If I try to turn it on while pressing the volume down button, PC
My PC identifies the phone as an "Andriod 1.0" and no drive is added, device does not make any sound this way and nothing lights up.
Anything I can do to restore my phone?
Thanks,
Danny.

I flashed my tg01 with wp7 a long long time ago, been good until i decide to return back to wm .5 and pressed the soft reset button under my back cover. Then i turned it on and all it shows now it shows the wp7 connect to the computer sign
After that i connect the phone to the computer but heres the problem! it detects the phone (sometime it fails to install the usb driver) zune came up with a error code saying no restoration point unable to restore this device. When i open download mode(blue LED light) nothing appears on the screen.Am i screwed?do i have a chance?Help please!
No it is all OK. If you have blue LED you can go back, just leave it on usb or charger for few hours to be shure for battery then do the downgrade to wm 6.5 by Mirlog. You have link to totorial in his signature. Enjoy
All,
I inherited a seriously injured HTC surround, and I have decided to use it as a project phone.
Current status - Half Bricked on the bootloader + when it boots it immediately asks to be connected to restore backup. Unfortunately I have no zune backup and neither does the original owner of the device.
So I have read everything I could find on the half-brick issue and it seems that some folks are having success using the goldcard method to over write their boot loader with various HTC devices. I am will to try this but all the vids I have seen tutorials etc show that you have to put the device into enter usb host mode (blue writing on white screen)
Only problem is ....I have no idea how to do this on the Surround. I have tried every button combo on boot and cannot find it.
Someone here must know how to do this in return I will post my findings on whether or not the Goldcard trick works to repair a 1/2 brick surround.
Thanks

Hi,
Power off the device
Press and HOLD both camera and volume down buttons
Press power on button and KEEP holding both battery and volume down buttons
After boot screen will follow the usb screen
Now release battery and volume down buttons
Regards, ansar
Ok I can only get to the tricolor screen showing the 1/2 brick spl. is the the usb host mode? Because I see on some videos on youtube a white screen with blue writing that says enter usb host mode. This is what I am trying to achieve.
Or if this is the USB host mode should I just attempt to do the flash via gold card and see if I can get rid of teh 1/2 brick?
USB Host mode
To enter USB host mode turn off the phone, then press and hold VOL down + camera buttons, then press power.
But the phone will not enter USB host mode if you only see one line en the tricolor screen (this state is half bricked). For the phone to be able to enter USB host mode, the tricolor screen must have more than 1 line but the only missing part must be Serial/USB at the bottom. Check well the videos on youtube, and you will notice before entering USB host mode that the tricolor screen have more than 1 line (someone call this state small half bricked).
My phone is also half bricked (one line in the tricolor screen), the only solution I have found is to do an HTC OEM update, either by waiting for HTC to release an update (that includes a bootloader) through zune or by forcing it (for this the phone needs to be developer unlocked).
P.S. ChevronWP7 is not selling more unlocking tokens at the moment, and the $99 AppHub membership is too expensive for me.
Thanks Guys
After reading your posts I tried it out on my good surround and sure enough was dumped directly into Enter USB Host Mode screen
So now I am sitting here wondering what can I do with this thing it will not boot to anything but the screen to connect to restore backup.
Could I give anyone here anything useful about the device? Maybe disect it and post pics? Maybe someone could find these jtag posts? Or keep it for spare parts? Seems like a waste to just chuck it
Maybe you can repair it

rob243, you can try to install a new firmware, depending if the firmware is a version inferior to 2250.21.40500.502. You can use a tool called Cab Sender (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415) to send firmware version mondrian_2250.21.40500.502.cab (search in xda-developers), for the enter the phone to recovery mode (just press and hold CAMERA, then power, ang then release the 2 buttons).
Well I tried to create my own ROM but it's gone all a bit wrong. So what happens now is that when the tablet boots, the back light comes on and that is all I get. When I press the on/off button the back light goes on and off. Another thing I noticed is that when I connect to the PC I can see the SD card and the External SD card mounted as MTS Device.
When I reset the tablet via the little hole on the top (next to the sound buttons) it just seems to switch off and then on again. I tried to switch the device off and try resetting (holding ON button + Volume UP + Volume DOWN) to get to CWM but I can't get into CWM. The back light just comes on.
I also tried to see if I could access the device via the ADB shell, but there is no device found. Which is weird as why does Windows see the device. I am not sure how to proceed. Any help appreciated. I also noticed that Windows (In device manager) sees the device as a Ramos W30HD and has an exclamation mark next to it?
Doesn't anyone have any ideas?

Never mind, I'll sell it now as a bricked device. Sure someone out there can fix it.
Hello everyone,
I just tried to put CM 10.1 (pollux RC3) on my Z, but I think I made a mistake: I accidently used a fastboot command which was meant for the xperia z phone, not the tablet (something like "fastboot flash boot boot.img"). Now I probably crashed my tablet, didn't I?
First a red light was visible, after 10mins I did a vol.up+power button reset. Now the red light is gone and so is my tablet. I can't get it recognized on the computer anymore, I can't start up the device, nothing.
Anyone has an idea what to do or am I just screwed?
*Edit*
Got it working again, see link in last post.
No you're not screwed. Download your corresponding system dump (do a search in this XTZ forum) eg. SGP311 (wifi 16gb), or SGP312(wifi32gb) and so on. Download flashtool (do a search too). FLASH THAT SYSTEM DUMP WITH FLASHTOOL (sorry for caps). HTH.
cool, thanks for the quick reply. I guess I was a bit fast on the first try...cool someone can help me out
downloading the dump and flashtool right now, gonna take a while, slow connection right now.
cheers
Aaalright...*still hoping not to be screwed*
If I plugin the usb cable to the computer, holding the volume button down for flash mode, absolutely nothing happens. I tried windows boxes and linux boxes, neither one of them logs anything happening on the usb ports.
Does anyone have a suggestion what to do? The tablet seems dead...the only thing is a single quick LED blink if I do a reset with power button + vol. up. So far I can't get it to do anything else besides that.
*New situation*
I plugged in the USB cable while holding power+vol up. Now I got a constant red led...
Trying this right now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42003603
Hi Guys, greetings from India!
I have a E970 which I unfortunately bricked ( in what seems to be a hard brick) during flashing an updated ROM. The phone screen now does not turn on at all, though when I connect it to my computer the power button led flickers on and off, and the PC responds as if a removable device is getting attached to it and being removed in quick succession.
In Device Manager I can see that the phone gets recognized as QHUSB_DLOAD.
When I tried to run the unbrick process via LGNPST, the phone name flashes along with the COM port name in the software, then disappears, and then comes back again. Moreover, the process errors out at 85% but pressing the power button does nothing.
Since the screen does not turn on, I am not sure whether my phone goes into a download mode or not.
So - is the phone recoverable at all or is it all over? Please help.
Thank you.

If device mgr is seeing the phone as qhusb, you done did bricked your phone. You need to jtag it to fix it. Your best bet would be to look into this... http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/lg-optimus-g-jtag-brick-repair/
