CyanogenMod is not out yet for ANY SGS what you are trying to flash to your phone is for the HTC Liberty aka the Aria
CyanogenMod6 is not available for the Vibrant. You're flashiing a ROM for another phone. Pretty much what vortec87 said.

... Link? the only Froyo that is available is the leaked firmware and its built for the international version and doesn't have JIT enabled.
I'm pretty sure that the original post saying it was CM6 for the Galaxy S is invalid, "HTC Liberty" is the codename for "Aria"
as far as i know as soon as CM6 is out it will be downloadable from rommanager, please someone correct me if im wrong, but i would just wait till you can DL it from that source. be patient it will still be several weeks from what i can guess.

I don't mean to be confrontational, but can you either please provide a link to an official announcement or stop spreading rumors?
The only official announcement I have heard is that it will be available for the UK in September. I don't live in the UK.
We can hope that the US versions (damn the US carriers and their stupid shell games anyway) are similar enough to the international version of the Galaxy S that porting it will be easy, but that's hope and wishful thinking. I am only interested in the facts.

You do know that unofficially when the official ROMs do get released, they can be modified so that when flashing the ROM it doesn't replace your basebands.. basically anything in general that would replace your phone with Euro stuff to cause a brick when you flash and flash back to Eclair (2.1). Eugene has done it for the previous Froyo ROM leak and he's doing it again for the one that was leaked today. So I'm absolutely certain when the official 2.2 from Samsung releases, a developer will do the same.
Is this a permanent solution for people? Especially for people who don't want to flash? No it isn't, but this is XDA, its a place where people mod their phones. Tough luck if you're unable to flash a ROM by just reading instructions.
Would you prefer I tell him that "oh I don't know when Froyo is coming out" and cause another person to post a thread asking when Froyo is coming out?
The answer to that question is pretty obvious. Not being a jerk but don't try to call me out and accuse me of spreading rumors.
And if you really want proof.. this isn't concrete but T-Mobile has definitely made this concrete about a OTA regarding the GPS fix, not promising 2.2 at that OTA but definitely a OTA.

So flash was already demo'd on the nexus one which means there has to be a way of installing it. Now you can download the Flash 10.1 for Linux on their site. and it has included 2 files. 1 is "flashplayer-install" and the other is "libflashplayer.so".
Can we push libflashplayer.so onto the phone and it'll pickup the library or is it more complicated than this... What can we do to make this work?
Its much more complicated than that, there are optimizations that they've done to even make it fast enough to use on a phone, plus the plug-in has to be compiled for the architecture on the phone (ARM) I do wish we could get a leak of the alpha plug-in though.
Ya, I think the only way this is happening is if someone leaks the version we've all been seeing. There's gotta be a leaky faucet somewhere.
We might not need to wait, the Desire (Nexus One minus the Google) has 10.1 Flash baked in...
Beyond me but it could be possible to, along with the Sense UI and whatever else is new and applicable, to port over Flash 10.1 if Google doesn't release it before then.
According to engadgdet the htc desire they demo'd had flash 10.1 so maybe when that rom leaks.
just a quick question : say the Flash 10.1 is released officially , in what form will it come?
an over the air update from google for OS? or just android Market app to be installed?
any ideas?
will it affect browser in any way?
OTA

something like this will have to be an os update because the browser will need to be able to access this lib/plugin along with other apps IMO unless someone can further my knowledge and tell me otherwise
I always thought flash would come as an upddate (perhaps 2.2 Froyo?)
as i've read, flash is already available for developers.
asking google....
Maybe it will be a OTA or it will come along with 2.2 as kyle said. Then again we will have it quicker once someone has a Desire rom leak.

Flash has been on Sense UI as early as the HTC Magic & Hero and when my youtube app stopped playing videos I resorted to playing them in the browser with flash, how come HTC seem to have no problem releasing it? Flash 10.1 must be a lot faster

I posted screenshots of flash (Hulu focused) in the apps section. Wasn't sure where to put it... If this place is more relevant then we can just delete my other post (if there are any mods reading =))
Here is the recap:
So I can get Hulu web page to start, and it says "loading" the video but it gets an error message.

Is anyone more informed of why? I know flash != shockwave, not sure if that is the issue. Or is the browser telling Hulu what kind of browser it is. I know that is spoofable. The last thing I can think of some sort of cache issue with the browser? In the settings the max I can set it is 6mb so maybe Hulu won't stream it. If we can get Hulu working on our N1's it would be a huge win. =)

Everyone of us use Rom Manager. Koush single handedly gave us an incredible and safe recovery. His app Rom Manager and Clockwork Recovery is something EVERY rooted Vibrant has/should have.
For those of us who flash ROMs, it would be nice if the ROMs were supporting Rom Manager. For those who have not used this on other phones, this is what I mean:
On my other devices, I can go to Rom Manager and click on "Download Rom" to find a new ROM (ie switching from Bionix to Auxora and AOSPish, etc).... OR... I could click on "Check for Rom Updates" right from RM, and NOT have to go check websites (especially now that most developers have their own sites where updates may be available sooner).
I found the instructions Koush gave for adding ROMs to Rom Manager.. it seems very straight-forward. You can check them out here if you are interested.
So, I ask... am I crazy for wanting this?
Seems like the developer who does this is going to open up his/their ROM to a LOT more people just due to convenience.
If people were going to go from eclair > froyo > eclair I guess people would need the stock kernels unless the ROMs had a kernel... which is a whole new point.
Not sure why Rom Manager does not backup the kernel.... that would make things a LOT easier too. Maybe @Koush can make it happen one day.
I've wondered the same thing.it's a dead feature at the moment because no roms are supported yet...
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Yeah, I've wondered the same thing. I helped a friend root his Droid Incredible and in the ROM Manager there were several different ROMs available for download, and it was really conveninent. It makes me a bit sad that ours has nothing.
Probably because these ROMs are beta. Probably because they are not completely safe to upgrade without people going to the forums. Probably because the devs want to promote their forums.

I don't buy that. On the Droid Incredible CM had their latest beta versions in there with no problem. So did others.
I exclusively use ROM Manager to keep me up to date with the latest CyanogenMod Nightlies...I have tried other ROMs but have yet to find anything as up to date as CM6 Nightly

Well, Master has supposedly sent everything to Koush to make it happen... I think Koush just needs to activate it? I really am not certain how the process gets moving once all the code is done and submitted.
Perhaps this will not take place until .5 is released and it's not on Koush's end??

Considering the fact that the bootloader on the Galaxy S III was cracked and unlocked I'm pretty sure if Verizon forces Samsung to lock the bootloader that the same method can happen and get the bootloader unlocked. Sure it probably took a month or so but the bootloader was still cracked.
Coming from a Rezound which you use a paperclip to short the board to achieve s-off, anything is possible. I am optimistic about the bootloader, and for some reason we don't get it, I will be mystified, and heartbroken. Have faith in XDA. Sorry for posting in the dev section with nothing important, thanks....

Usually I care a great deal about this stuff, but in reality, beyond rooting to remove junk, using any other AOSP rom rather defeats the purpose of all the features that are included, and ONLY included with the TW rom. Split window and the like are all TW only, which means I LOVE paranoid rom, but it is highly unlikely that could be simply ported over with an app.
Other than root to remove bloat, I'm freakin STOKED to be jumping to this phone over my GS3. Booya, can't wait!

I second the Booya!
After bloatware, the sprint versions seem to have around of 9gb ram left (give or take) which is enough for me. VZ may be more or less but if they have full multi-tasking features (which seems to look good) I'll be happy as a clam.

Even though speculation. Nice article and read thank you
I've had my phone since the end of July and have not received any updates. The last one pushed was the one with the battey drain issue and I didn't even try to get that one. Do something please. I guess we'll see in the next few weeks and I hope AT&T doesn't make us wait. What's the use of having HTC Advantage if AT&T is just going to delay it?
Why wait on AT&T when you can get better from here or HTC directly?
Or even cook up your own from AOSP source?
We're still waiting on the fixed 4.4.3...sheesh. get it together AT&T. You pull the update and go completey dark as to when it's being re-released? How very Sprint of you.
Its rumor no longer. Android 4.4.4 is now rolling out for the international M8:

Who know exactly when AT&T will rollout Android 4.4.4, but they have been pretty prompt with updates on this phone so far. Hopefully, it will be coming soon, and that may be the reason they didn't bother with fixing 4.4.3.
My opinion is they are gonna scratch the 4.4.3 fixed os and go sraight releasing 4.4.4 for us . At this point with then 4.4.3 battery mishap ota and international already pushing 4.4.4 they would be pretty fat behind the game lol

So does that mean that 4.4.4 has been released on AT&T M8? I'm on Viper so I cant check for OTA.
No it has not been released...I use the us developer build(same device as AT&T variant) to make things work specifically for AT&T. The official developer OTA and firmware zips are located in my ROM thread.

Look in the Development subforum.
Just stumbled across this - apparently the 4.4.4 release hasn't hit yet because they want to integrate VoLTE into the AT&T 4.4.4 variant - see link for conversation with Mo from HTC:

Nope, not yet. Not surprised though since AT&T is awful at pushing out updates.
Integrating a whole new voice/data spectrum isnt very easy,it has been bumped back till 12/15. it is probably going to be a big update besides operating system.
