okay, i got my sd card working and just need to update my hboot to get S-OFF, i have the spl-signed that i think will get it, and also got Flashrec, but.. idk how to change/update my hboot? i'm using a custom recovery image with villainrom 1.4, i almost have this rooting stuff down, but i got really confused trying to do this.. lol.. >.>;
Fkash you SPL via the update.zip method. Use the customer recovery to do so.
just rename it update.zip and flash it in the recovery mode?

Yes, if it has been made as an update.zip file. You can test but does it have a script inside it?

That's not an update.zip. What version hboot are you trying to flash too and if you have a link from where you got it from I can check it out.
Can you let me know why you are updating the hboot please?
i'm trying to get it to hboot with S-OFF so i can use fastboot oem eraseconfig to get adb back working, i got it here: spl-signed
Just checked, it does have an update script
Code:
write_hboot_image PACKAGE:hboot.img
You can use recovery to flash that file
okay! so just boot into recovery, power + home (I think?) haha, and just simply flash the zip?

I would like to restore my phone to stock so I can install the OTA ICS. Yes, I've searched and read all about ICS but my phone just freezes with the green X. Is there a way to remove CWM (mine is an old version anyway) and restore the phone to the stock recovery?
I read about downloading the stock GB RUU and renaming to PH85IMG.zip and I think I did that but I still have CWM.
Thanks.
EDIT: Oh, and many of the links in the FAQ are dead - like the restore to stock link.
if you ran the ruu, it wouldve overwrote cwm with the stock recovery. a little more details about your current setup would be helpful. you could always install the leak, its the same exact thing...
Use hasoons all in one tool.

Well, I think I did that. It loaded something but there was no change to CWM. Maybe I didn't run the right RUU or ran it wrong. The thread that I tried to use is no longer available. Where can I find the "right" ruu?
As for the setup, it's a rooted phone running an old version of CWM.
I don't have a PC to run the hasoons tool.

When it finishes loading it should have a list of the contents of the file, then ask you volume up to update or volume down not to update.

Well, that's sort of what I thought but it just goes back to the hboot menu. Nothing happens after it reads the file. There is a progress bar on the right and it progresses as if it's reading, but then just back to hboot.
Bootloader is unlocked. What I've read is that doesn't matter but so far nothing works.
Anyway, thanks for the help. Is there a way to just nuke everything and start over - I only have access to a mac or linux box.
I'm seeing reference in other threads about not getting the install option after the PH85IMG.zip file loads in hboot, but no real solution. There is reference to something called supercid but I don't know what that means.
Has anyone figured out why the PH85IMG.zip file loads in hboot but then just returns to the menu with no option to install? Thanks.
I have been screwing with my phone for over 4 days straight and I CANNOT figure anything out....Im so frustrated!!! I flashed a ROM and now I am in continuous bootloop mode. My clockwork mod is completely broke down, I can't backup my nand because it is on Amon recovery. but i can't figure out how to reinstall Amon through bootloader....since, when i restart my phone. i only get about 5 seconds to try and do anything before it bootloops.....PLEASE someone help me step by step. I need someone to comment back and stay posted on this thread for me....please I am on my last leg, I just want my phone to be rooted, a good recovery installed and thats all I'm asking for.....But the problem is, I have to do everything through bootloader because of the bootloop.....I want to get clockwork mod off my phone and reinstall Amon recovery.
Run the ruu of your choice and then while in fast boot do:
Fastboot flash recovery nameoffile.img

Just some stuff that is in our RUU, you may need it and will save you from having to download 500mb+ .zip, just for one or two files.
If you need any other file from either RUU, ask and I will upload it.
To Install
1) Rename to PJ53IMG.zip (make sure you don't get PJ53IMG.zip.zip in windows..).
2) Place the zip file on the root (not in any folders) of your SD card. (not internal storage).
3) Boot to Hboot by holding Volume-Down and Power.
4) Install.
5) OR, pull file from .zip and install using fastboot.
6) YOU MAY NEED S-OFF TO FASTBOOT THESE FILES, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Well technically we misuse the term ruu, since it's actually a exe you run on your computer.
What people usually mean by ruu is a zip that has official, stock HTC everything.
Rom, recovery, hboot, radio etc

Before you flash, you should know that if the RUU file you are using is not a rooted one, you may loose root by flashing it to your phone. There are rooted RUUs on XDA and I hope you are using one of them.
Now if you have downloaded the RUU file to your computer
1.Rename it as PH98IMG and put it on your SD card.
2. power off your phone (preferably by removing the battery and putting it back).
3. restart your phone by holding down volume down and the power button. Your phone will reboot to bootloader. The bootloader should automatically load the file you rename PH98IMG and ask you if you want to install the update.
4. Press volume up for YES. Bootloader will install the file. Follow the instructions to finish.

Search on Google.
You probably want the 3.14.605.12 ruu if you haven't updated to global firmware.

Did you see a a vertical bar working on the top right of your phone? If the PH98IMG loads correctly, there should be a message in red at the bottom asking if you want to start the update.

Well the top line in your bootloader should say something along the line of Unlocked or Tampered if it doesn't then you need to use HTC Unlock tool and unlock your bootloader again. If its locked you can't do anything. Check that out.
Edit:
It should look something like the attached image.
