"""But with Radio:

The GPS working fine...."""
Anyone can tell me what is happening to my HD2 system???

Well I only can tell you that my gps is also not working, with any ROM or Radio combination, or even in Android.
At best I get a message in Google Maps about a weak gps signal.
I tested it several times during a car drive of about 80 kms, with clear weather.
Hope someone can help me also?

did you test it with another sim card, better with another provider?

GPS has nothing to do with either the SIM card nor the provider. It has everything to do with the ability of the ROM/Radio to communicate with the built-in GPS hardware.

Radio Rom 1.35

Sorry if this is a dumb Question but I have not been able to find a true answer.
What is the advantage of updating My Radio Rom from 1.20 to either 1.27 or 1.35 or should I leave well enough alone.
Its up to you, the 1.35.00.11 version of the radio has the GPS chip enabled, but as you will see in the GPS thread the GPS chip works but has no antenna. The radio should be more stable, and i noticed an increase in the range of my 3G area with it. Make sure to use the version available here (at the top) because they push "des SSPL" to the phone so you dont need to worry about which bootloader or CID you have (not that it matters about CID with radio upgrades...but you know what i mean )
Thanks, i'll probably upgrade to 1.35 using the link you provided
Just upgraded, very straightforward.
One slight issue. After upgrade and soft reset I could not make a data connection.
I made a voice call just to check that was working . . .
then all was OK.
Don't know if the voice call sorted it or what
just make sure you have GPS off or your battery will be in for a ride

Hi,
I also flashed 1.35 nice and easy. So where can you turn GPS off ?
Thanks for the help

Don't worry, GPS isn't enabled unless you install the VRSerial driver (which aint easy....). Even then, it's only turned on when an application specifically opens the GPS comm port.

Hi Sleuth255,
thanks for the help on this issue. I do not indent to install VRSerial. I do have an external GPS mouse which is fine for me.

I recently upgraded and it was a major improvement for me. Far fewer dropped calls, better reception, etc.
I have noticed a noticeable decrease in in-call volume...is this an issue with this rom? At max volume, I have trouble hearing in a noisey environment...never had this problem before.
RUU_1.35.00.11_radio_only.exe wants to connect to the internet?
I upgraded my radio rom yesterday and kept the installation file, RUU_1.35.00.11_radio_only.exe, on my laptop. I downloaded the file with the link supplied in the wiki page.
Now today I get a warning from my f-secure saying that the exe file “RUU_1.35.00.11_radio_only.exe” wants to connect to the internet. I clicked deny and it kept trying to connect four more times then it stopped. I scanned the file for viruses and Trojans but F-Secure didn’t find any.
Anyone else had the same problem or perhaps knows whats going on?

its probably thinking that access to the ActiveSync device (which as far as i am aware is via tcp over usb) i wouldnt worry about it. disconnect from the internet if you are.

If the phone won't start, after flashing radio 1.35, simply reflash the SO.

Did you upgrade from 1.34.00.10 or a lower version radio ?
Would like to know if there is any "real" advantage to upgrade from 1.34.00.10 to 1.35.00.11 ?
I am experiencing some missed calls due to the always GPRS / 3G connection I am running for emoze push mail.

GPS on WM6 What I am doing wrong?

Hey all,
I have my athena for a couple of days now but I still can't get the GPS to position. As it is a T-mobile Ameo I used Oprio's Unlocker first. Everything went fine and now I can use it with every SIM. Then I upgraded with the WM6 Dopod U1000 and so far so good. The only thing that worries me is that I can't get the GPS to work. I tried both OziExplorer and Googlemaps, also BeelineGPS and GPSTuner. None of these programs can find a satellite and obtain a position. Am I missing some settings or maybe there are no satelites over my area?
OPp and something else that bothers me. Is the Status Display just not working under WM6 or it's only by me so?
I have the x7500/Advantage and GPS works after updating to WM6. I haven't yet unlocked my phone because i'm waiting for the cooked ROM's to be released before I go through this.
Have you installed maybe some other software that uses GPS and see what happens or are you trying it with just one program?
have you changed the gps settings in start-settings-system-external gps?
I use software-none hardware-5 baud-9600 tick-manage auto.
run quickgps first before you try any of your programmes, and let it update, this will give your progs satellites to look for and speed things up a bit, it does take some time to get a fix.
you haven't tried selecting it as a sirf-star have you? that will stop it working and need the battery leaving out for a while..

yep I tried both COM5 and COM4 with 4800/9600, also ran the QuickGPS.
What do you mean by selecting it as a sirf-star?
some software (for example memory map navigator) gives you the option to select different types of gps receiver protocols, there are a few. garmin, navman, magelan, sirf, nmea,
nmea is what the 7500 uses, but if you select sirf-star then it appears the gps shuts down, and the best way of restoring it at present is to either take the battery out or if you're lucky just hard reset it.
I did this
No, I haven't selected sirf. Is there some simple GPS software just to try whether the integrated GPS is working? Could it be just that there are no satellites over my area?
Come on guys, tell me how you get your GPS to work. Should I go back to WM5 or maybe change the Radio ROM? All the programs I tried still can't find any satellites? Any suggestions for other settings?

I don't have an answer for you, but I can tell you that the GPS satellite system covers the whole planet, so there are some over your area. Sounds like it could be a hardware problem.
Hmm I know but althoufh I am in the city centre it shout find at least 1-2 satellites. Maybe I should go somewhere out of the city and try there. I still doubt that there's something wrong with the settings or the software.
i had the same problem, using AMEO, unlocked using olipro unlocker.. GPS never worked afterwords .. the SIRFbootloader section in the ROM isn't updatable getting a communication error and that is it. I've to return it to T-mobile.. don't know how to remove the Olipro bootloader and how i can get back the original T-mobile rom!
Hope your problem is fixable .. as mine isn't

I did upgrade to Olipro, but I have bever seen any communcation errors. As far as I can tell, every upgrade went fine. My GPS works in 2% of the cases, it takes forever to get a fix, and after even the slightest displacement or move, the fix is gone again.
I am not getting any communications errors. I did all all the settungs as shown on this site http://www.x7501.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1184315093/0
and f.e on Google maps it just shows "Seeking GOS satellites (0)"
On the BeelineGPS I get "Fix not available" and a red circle blinks.
I really don't know what to try more. Maybe should I flash another Radio ROM or get back to WM 5.0? Any other suggestions?
mine too after upgrading to WM6, my quickGPS is not able to download the satellite data via Activesync. i used to be able to do so on WM5... whats wrong?
try this!!
Unplug battery then plug it again, this will help your mobile like factory reset !
lucky

For tests I am using old small app which was fro PPC2003. It works fine with my Advantage X7500 on Com4 and 4800 baud rate in WM6. It usualy starts showing satelites after 1 minute or so.
I have attached it here.
Edit:
I never tried to use quickGPS via ActiveSync. I use vsta. However it works fine and downloads GPS inf via WLAN/GPRS/UMTS or what is actualy available.
Did you do step 2 and three of Olipro Unlock
Step 2 Sends A Radio Rom to Unlock and step 3 a Rom tha make your GPS work again
It says so in the Olipro Unlock Documentation

I would get a program that shows the NMEA messages like GeoScout and see if you are even getting anything. Could be your GPS chip is hosed. Good luck sending that back in if it didn't come with it turned on like from Verizon. If you are in a clear space and you have reset the phone and you get no NMEA messages then I would think that either you have a bad flash and to start over or your GPS chip is bad.
Mine was acting similar which was every frustrating. SO tonight I flashed the new radio 3.42.50 and it did not help. I then reflashed DCD 3.2.5 and my GPS magically started to work again. I now lock 4 satellites from inside my house in about 15 seconds. The only bad thing is it shows my location in Gmap and Live about 10 blocks off. If I do a soft reset it has the correct location. If I exit maps and relaunch it is off 10 blocks or so again. No big deal really, I'm just happy it's working again.

Help: Verizon connection settings

I recently upgraded to DCD3.2.5 ROM and Radio version 3.42.50 And now i cant send or receive MMS messages. I can connect to wifi and i can send regular texts but when i send a picture it only gives me the option to send through email. How do u get MMS back. I installed the verizon carrier cab. Should i install the cricket carrier cab as well?
seems like this may be what you need

Follow A lazy Dude suggestion. You will need to install Arcsoft. I have VZW and that takes care of the issue and gives you threaded SMS/MMS as well.
Thanks they worked. Now i have a problem with the GPS. i installed the new radio version and everything but for somereason no GPS program will pick it up. i tried using google maps and Quick GPS. In order to use the GPS does wifi need to be off? If so then that means i have to use data which will cost me since i have no plan.

Do this for GPS.... Set the phone to 911 only. Then soft-reset. Then switch it back to Location on... and soft reset. Also, do a *228 , 1 OR *22899 and let the phone re-program / soft reset. Let me know if that helps.

Have you tried a hard reset? and don't install anything else.
no but i would prefer not too. Ive already done a bunch of hard resets and i finally have my phone where i want it. it would just suck to have to redo it all again.
Also my wifi isnt working. It keeps saying i have the incorrect network key when i know its right. its the same one im using on my laptop and it works fine. maybe i will have to hard reset.
these are my installed programs. Could these be messing anything up?
AIM
Oxios Memory
Quick GPS
Total COmmander
WMminibattery
HTC Home Plugin
HTC home customizer
PHM RegEdit
Pim Backup
and then i also have the verizon carrier cab, Cody ppc performance, GC arcsoft Mobile.
When i start up my phone it always says "the file 'Program' coul not be found or it is not signed with a trusted certificate. Try reinstalling the software." BUt i dont even know what its looking for.
Maybe i should hard reset But is there any of those programs i shouldnt put back onto my phone?
have you tried the Titan GPS fix yet?
check out this post..

would it make a difference that i have radio 3.42.50 with DCD 3.2.5 ROM?
Becasue i noticed you have the GPS fix but you also have a differen radio version than i do.
i just tried that fix and it still doesnt seem to be working. anything i can do? should i reinstall the radio or do anything different?
Im thinking about hard restaring the phone again but when i do that should i change the ROM or radio? Also any reason for the wifi not to be accepting the network key?
i just did a hard reset and only put google maps on to see if it would work and still not working. do i need a different radio? when i go to google maps and click on my location it says your handset does not seem to support the my location feature. Am i doing it wrong? Am i supposed to click on somthing different rather than my location?

There should be use GPS link on that menu. Click on that and it will start up the GPS and find your position. The default settings for the GPS in Google is to let windows manage it and it should turn it on if all is working.

Toshiba TG01 GPS Problem

Just got myself a TG01 Upgrading from my old SPV M700 I have installed Co Pilot on my new phone bot it cant find the GPS Signal on it
Google Maps works spot on
Any Idea what port it uses?
Its not COM 9 As i would expect it to be?
Thanks
Beau
Hi, i have almost the same problem i install difretn program on my TG01 i i have problem because hi cannot found a gps why
go here http://www.modaco.com/content/toshiba-tg01-tg01-modaco-com/290500/tom-tom-on-tg01/
it's been dealt with few times
I'm using gps gate for memory maps on my tg01, works a treat.
For most of these programs, if there is an option for what driver/source, choose intermediate driver, other than that, it should work without gps gate
for those that use igo8 as navigation software, to be recognized the gps receiver, just add the following lines in sys.txt:
[gps]
source="virtserial"

i found that gpsgate works like a charm as well
sadly its not freeware but you can try it out, it has a trial version
I am using NDrive .. and loving it ... so much nicer than the TomTom and Garmin.
GPSGate does work but there is another issue with the GPS on this device where it will lose the signal after a period of time and then sit there and reconnect. It does still work but intermittently disconnects and then reconnects. Apparently the same thing happens when using Garmin which actually doesnt need GPSGate, so nothing to do with the application but more to do with the hardware.
Be nice if this gets fixed when the next update comes out.
Won't hold my breath though.
I agree with you @zomig

OK then ...
Where precisely on xda-developers has the issue of the TG01 intermittently losing its GPS connection been discussed?
It is not GPSGATE causing this problem. I believe the problem lies in loosing reception for a second. Without a valid phone signal, the GPS fails to work.
Everytime I lost GPS, I also lost phone reception....
Basically what I think happens is this, somewhere in the software, if the phone signal is lost, the A-GPS is lost, the proper GPS chipset is shutdown too, which throws the GPS program.
Then the phone signal comes back, A-GPS gets a fix and boots the proper GPS up.
My idea is to disable the A-GPS as its useless anyway and get it working on a traditional way. GPS chipset only.
i don't use A-GPS and I still have this problem.

A-GPS comes on automatically alongside with the proper GPS. You cannot specify it.
I have noticed that I loose signal when the GPS is running otherwise it's fine
I hope Toshiba fix this soon, it does get annoying!!

Not on the TG01, which is the problem, when the phone is in flight mode (or no sim card) the GPS fails to work! Which makes me question if A-GPS which works through the cellular network has something to do with all the problems......
