Hey I was wondering if there's an app or web browser that supports Adobe Flash? For instance when I go to the World of Warcraft website a lot of things on thati site says it requires flash 9. So yeah I was just wondering if there's a way to get it working. Thanks in advance.

First of all, this should probably go in Q & A. Second, The vibrant running Android 2.1 has flash lite which is compatible with most things up to flash 8. When 2.2 froyo goodness arrives eventually we will be able to download flash 10.1 to our devices and get rid of this lite crap. Good things come to those who wait.
Skyfire supports flash.

yeah, but "supports flash" and websites requiring higher versions of flash actually working are two different things. It'll support flash...when you have it.
I just watched a movie on killingtime.com I guess android flash light was good enough.

That link is to a Murder Mystery Party Planning website.
"Planning a party can really be murder.
With Killing Time, murder consultants, that’s a good thing!"
But I am assuming the site you are referring to either has an .flv player using flash 8 or if you are using skyfire it converts the video to something it can stream instead of flash. It says so while its "Optimizing" it could save you 75% bandwidth over flash.
Yeah Skyfire is a good ersatz option, though it doesnt seem to work on crunchyroll, it does on x hamster which gets the job done, ahem. I did discover that it only works if the stock browser is installed so it must rely on its webkit? Idk. Id like to hear what someone more knowledgable thinks. No ff rew controls but til 2.2 it'll have to do.

Here's the point, whether it converts the video or not it performs the function the OP wants. To be able to watch the video's that are in the flash format. I'm not going to argue semantics with you, you obviously just want to be right at something.

So does anyone know how to successfully run the new Fennec pre alpha on a non rooted Droid Eris on 2.1.?
no, but in the brief article I read it said you need a droid or nexus one
its not really possible, it has major force close issues.
I downloaded the apk and instaled it on 2.1 root and experinced fc after a few moments of running. It sucks...really want to try it out.
Running it on droid, its nothing to call home about.
with me being on aloysius 2.0v6, and all my apps instaled, I could not even make room to try and install a 10mb apk... it's actually the one and only true time i wanted apps2sd on the eris.
are you all using this build? http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/28/firefox-now-available-for-android-2-0-and-above-still-at-pre-al/ it seems like the newest one out there.
Yay I'm running non-rooted Droid Eris 2.1 leakv3 and the latest pre-alpha just runs for a second and then crashes every time I run it, any fixes?

Wait, your saying Opera, of all the browsers is good? That's by far the worst mobile browser available!!!! Not saying Fennec will be better.........Maybe I just need to get used to Opera, but that's just my opinion..

Whats wrong with it? It loads incredibly fast, has a nice UI, offers a nice homepage launcher, etc. I think it's a hell of a browser, from what I understand they load most of the page on their end and send the finished product to you. The only complaint i have is lack of multitouch but that is in no way a deal breaker.
If you don't believe the speed difference a/b between the stock browser and opera with androidcentral.com
Last time I used opera, it was just too clunky and navigating through the menus was a big pain. Im currently using skyfire 2.0 and it does the same thing with loading the page through its servers first to take the load off the phone. It hd some really nice features as well. I highly suggest everyone try it. There was a good tutorial on phandroid.com about all the features. Check it out

Just downloaded on a whim after reading the article on engadget. Seems pretty decent so far, I'll try it out for the next week and see what I think.

Cool, I think its pretty neat.
Using Skyfire as well..it is way better than Dolphin, stock, Xscope and Opera. It is fast and somehow it remembers your bookmarks. Got real tired of saving bookmarks/favorites and losing them when you installed a new OS
I have no idea what this will do to people that don't have the new update. Please install with extreme caution.
I deleted this in my Bloatware killing craze a few days ago. I decided I wanted to try it again after I found out about Sammy's little coming out party today. I'm assuming that some of the other's who updated to JI2 might have done the same thing. I searched the threads and didn't see that anyone pushed this yet. If this is a duplicate, please delete. This is my first "push post", so if there are any other issues please delete.
Stick on SD card, find it with "files" and install the .APK. Once again, I have no idea what this will do to Original firmware.
Also, I read somewhere that the movies you buy/rent might not work. LOL, hey but it's fun to watch the previews. If someone has purchased or rented a movie let us know.
Works great. thanks for posting.
working fine on stock rom...but looks useless
Says "Your location is not known or supported." Is that a bug?
Seems to work for me, but would be nice if there was some free content, otherwise its pretty much a waste for me right now.
I rented the Blues Brothers a few days ago and whenever I try playing it it says your phone does not support the required file format, even though I have eugene's newest rom installed. Any ideas?

I do have JI2, and apparently that codec wasn't inclucded in the leaked update from a few weeks ago Ahh well...hopefully it'll come soon, but I'm not counting on it.
This might be the silver lining we all have been waiting for. Sammy wants out media hub money so they have to make it work. On that train of thought some sort of update should be coming.

No way to get the flash player without froyo huh or am I totally wrong its been a few days since I've been on here
The guy on the couch
the vibrant comes with some sort of half ass flash lite on it, ie: got to youtube on it and it will play in the regular youtube player, but if you go to other flash web sites it may not work(usually the case). Full flash is only available if you are running 2.2

There is still not a definitive way to port flash player full to 2.1. Having said that, the Dev's in the forum are unpredictable. You never know when they might find a way around.
Im psyched about ics for the phone, but if it means I'm gonna lose flash and not be able to run most websites anymore, I think im gonna have to skip the update all together.. will development be able to give us flash back in ics?

I'm running one of the Leaked Samsung ICS builds, Flash works fine.
flash is available for ics. besides that it's completely outdated and html 5 is enough.
Right now flash works on ICS but basically if something major changes and Google or Adobe don't work to support flash then the devs can't do anything.
Sent from my GT-I9100
Flash works. It may be outdated, but as of now still many websites rely on it. Not to mention the pain-in-the-ass "this video is not optimized for mobile viewing", which can only be avoided through flash (loading the desktop youtube site).

html5 may be better, but its not supported anywhere yet, rather I should say 'everywhere yet'. tons of websites, and especially any with videos all require flash to he usable, and i can't give that up.. my phone is my desktop away from home, it needs to be fully functional..
but if you guys are saying ics will work, I'm glad to hear it.. i was just on engadget and they implied it wouldn't.

The official stance is that it's not supported, but I believe Google said that would change. Either way, not being supported and not working are 2 very different things. I remember being told that my Nokia N95 only supported SD cards up to 8GB. That didn't stop the 16GB one working though
Incidentally, you'd be surprised how many videos you see online that are actually HTML5 and no longer Flash. It's not as supported as Flash yet, but it's definitely making its mark!
Adobe has stopped supporting Flash on mobile devices but as some of the previous posters mentioned, it doesn't mean it won't work. I wouldn't worry about it. There are also options of installing third party browsers such as Dolphin HD that would include flash, if by chance the ICS browser doesn't. However, I am sure it will. I remember reading that flash player will still come with android stock browsers whether ICS or not if I remember correctly
What is it worth a tablet that cannot play video or flash stuff browsing/reading news or else?
I am so disappointed and regretting to have made this upgrade, trusting some people who claimed to have a
workaround for Flash Player.
The next thing is hoping that a method for locked device but rooted is found to downgrade, cause I was more satisfied then than now.
It was not enough to have others issues with the Prime, rebooting, freezing, BlueTooth and bad WiFi signal.. now we do not even have Flash working.
Well if a workaround that works is not found, I think I will try desperate to downgrade and stay on ICS.

Did downloading the apk and installing it not work for you?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336
All you have to do. Is sideload flash.apk and stock browser. apk and it will work fine. Flash works flawless on my Nexus 7. Refer to Nexus 7 forums for details. There's a thread in there with the flash.apk and browser.apk for you to download and install. Very simple and easy to do. Just follow directions OP gives you. But believe me, plenty of xda users JB devices are using flash just fine.
I sideloaded Flash and it works fine. I use Boat Browser + Flash + JB without any problems.
Additionally, more websites are using HTML5 video instead of flash. And if you just bought the tablet for flash, you're really not getting the point of a tablet. Tablets and smartphones are more app based rather than browser based.
I still have flash on the stock browser after updating to JB.
Worse case..try one of these methods I posted in another thread

To some people.
Others don't like having 1000 applications for every website out there (youtube, gmail, xda, etc.) when you can use browser for that.

Flash is still there, it won't show up in your apps but it's still there.... at least on my device it is. I have no problems playing flash content and it's faster than before..... if you got to settings, apps, all, you'll see it's still there. Also Adobe will continue to push updates to Adobe® Flash via Google Play to those devices that had Adobe® Flash previous to the Jelly Bean update.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium HD app
I never thought I'd say this, but I don't really miss Flash at all in day to day browsing now. Most sites that I use don't use it hugely, or have converted to HTML5, and for video I mainly use YouTube anyway so the built in app works fine.
I have been using Chrome since it was first released, and have only gone back to the stock browser for flash once or twice in the last few months. So for me, I haven't lost anything, and probably wouldn't notice for a while if I did. The main thing I notice is that flash-based ads don't appear, and I consider that a feature.

The fact is that all Android tablets from here out will be in the same boat. So this doesn't make the Prime "poor" unless you want to say all Android tablets made from now on are "poor". Then, don't forget that the iPad has never supported flash. Therefore if you follow your reasoning to it's logical conclusion, then the iPad is "poor" too. So where does that leave you? Well, you won't be using a tablet or phone for web browsing. Not any tablet or phone. The work arounds will keep it going a bit longer, but it is dead.
This is another useless thread. Its really upsetting, especially now the op got flash working and the whole point of the thread is irrelevant. Update your first post and title OP!
I dont find the thread upsetting or useless at all. I think its a good informative thread for any users that do want flash .
