Do you see boxes/question marks? If yes it means the font doesn't support the language. Find a font apk that does and install it like a normal app.
And I assume that you have applied the lag fix, so you need the one-click lagfix app from the market to apply the new fonts for them to be working.

Ηello everyone, I hope this is the right section to post my question.
I have a Samsung GT-i5500 and have a strange problem. When writing sms, I cant change the text language. If I have selected english from the menu, I can't change to greek until I go to the settings again and change it to greek.
Is there a solution to change the language from the message application and not the settings panel?
Thank you very much.

Well, in this case I cannot be sure 'cause I used the stock rom only few days, but I take a look at the GT-I5500 user manual and it seems there's nothing you can do for this little but annoying problem, nor for Samsung keyboard nor for Swype, sorry..
Maybe you could look the Market for a keyboard app with such a feature, I think you could find it..
Or you could try Cyanogen..

When using Ubuntu font many users see rectangles in different places, that don’t belong there. They come from the .notdef character which in that very font has a rectangle shaped outline. This character appears when the font doesn’t contain a character for the codepoint requested. It seems like some apps use codepoints different from usual spacing characters to show empty room: e.g. with launcher pro in the app drawer long names are shortened with an ellipsis after which those squares appear. The reason why using other fonts doesn’t show these squares is, that some fonts only have an empty space at .notdef, so no outline appears. One can verify this by using the DroidSansNotdef.ttf which I attach. There I’ve only added an outline to the .notdef character and you’ll get the same behaviour as with the Ubuntu font.
UbuntuAndroidfix.ttf has an empty space in .notdef so it isn’t visible. Nevertheless, this is only a workaround for a bug that’s somewhere else.
Edit: As shown below, the real reason is missing U-FEFF in the font, so it is a font bug. Attached you find all four styles (Ubuntu regular, italic, bold and bold italic) with the added character.
20.4.12 — New version: added spacing characters U-2000—U-200F to fix some more box-char appearances.
Basically after searching a bit more i found this workaround: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16895848&postcount=269 It seems better. But thank you anyway!
Of course this is better, it’s not only a workaround, it’s a fix.
I attach a new version of the fixed font with the added glyph. At least the Droid Sans that I downloaded from Google webfonts (to be sure that I have the latest...) doesn’t contain it.
Edit: Attachment removed, new attachment in first post.
Yeah thats right. But which program do you use to edit the font?
I used the Font Creator and the output size of the font is 312kb (instead of 335kb of the original ubuntu font). Your font is about 680kb. I used the droidsans.ttf from ICS platform (v1.0 build 114) and it did contain the glyph
I use fontforge and I'm doing font design in my spare time. But I've never thought about file sizes. I'll have a look at it later.

h i like the font. Nice!
The font is really good!
I love Greek & Ancient Greek letters in your font (i like the curves) but italic Greek just isn't my type. I think it should be less space between some letters.
Great work

I’ve found the reason for the bigger size. I’ve overseen to untick the old style kern table option. Now it’s only 273,4kb. I’ll upload it together with bold and italic.

You’re welcome!
The thing about the squares is, they show up wherever a glyph is found which doesn’t have a representation in the font. So it depends on where you see the box character. With the fixed Ubuntu font for example you’ll see many boxes if you want it to display Vietnamese because it lacks a whole block of multiple accented characters which will be added in a later development stage. The Droid fonts you attached will fail for many more languages because it only contains the code points of ISO-8859-1 which is oriented at western european languages (it doesn’t even contain a Euro symbol). If that is the problem, the simple fix won’t help you, one would have to know which characters you are missing to do something about it.
The second problem is: what is the license of the fonts? There’s no licence information so it’s not clear if one may change anything about the font.
There’s an Android logo font which contains the FEFF character and many more (incl. greek and cyrillic): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3771562&postcount=86 — perhaps this helps.
Thanks to both of you guys!
I can't remember which site I downloaded the font from but its really clean compared to the android logo font so I liked it.
New version as reaction on more box-sightings in the Kyrillos Rom thread. In fact the character U-2009 (thin space) was missing. I added the whole block of (non)spacing characters from U-2000 up to U-200F.
Non-vietnamese UI-elements should hardly show boxes again.
For downloads visit first post.

They are already present in the font. If you look at the specimen (https://github.com/georgd/EB-Garamond/blob/master/specimen/Specimen.pdf?raw=true) on p.3 you find a czech example that shows all three of them (at least in lowercase).

I would be ever so grateful if you could take a screen shot of the following word displayed on your phone, and post it in a reply on here. I'm giving you a noble excuse to try out that fancy new quickmemo feature of yours . Please also include if you're on stock or The Base. I'm on The Base v0.7.1 and would like to know if it also effects stock.

If you're an Arabic speaker (a bit of a long shot on these forums, I know ), here's the TL;DR - س is displaying as ش when it's in the middle of the word.
If you don't speak Arabic but are still curious as to what this is all about, here's a short description. Arabic is written a bit like English cursive. The shape of a letter changes based on whether it appears at the beginning, middle or end of the word. For some reason, on my phone the letter "s" is erroneously rendering as the letter "sh", but only when it's in the middle of a word. So "Johnson" shows up as "Johnshon". As you can imagine, this is quite annoying...

Bummer. I was hoping it was just a bug that popped up in The Base that could easily be fixed, but it appears it's a bug in LG's stock Android 4.0.4. I found this post where a user is having the same problem with an LG Motion 4G...
My boyfriend would raise hell if he found that LG ****ed up the Arabic language. xD
/Uninstalls and hides phone.
Well, I managed to fix this! Someone in the IRC channel suggested I try changing the font and it really is that simple. Just find any Arabic ttf font, rename it to LG_Arabic.ttf, put it into /system/fonts (requires root) and reboot your phone. If anyone finds a good Arabic font, let me know.
Personally, I kind of like the LG font. So I just opened the original LG_Arabic.ttf in a font editor and deleted the extra three dots above U+FEB4 that aren't supposed to be there. I've attatched the modified version if anyone is interested.

There is been a change in the new API that broke a small part of the keyboard. I fixed it in the new version.
Well, I tested it now,
And it works mostly, I already forgot how actually T9 was fast, for a smartwatch it makes more sense than qwerty I think...
But there's 1 bug I guess, when something is typed already, the Globe icon supposed to turn into a delete icon and act like it, but what happens is that the delete works but it stays as a globe icon.
Another bug is (I think it happens now on English as well) the button to switch to numbers/symbols, it works but the actual view stays on the letters.
And on Hebrew, there are no big or small letters, so the button where it supposed to switch it, acts as inputting of something that I'm not sure what it is lol.
Another feature request (maybe it's not possible) add a microphone button for speach to text for the current language (I'm still hoping to be able to dictate on Hebrew to the watch)
But overall, it works great!! I can't even tell you how happy I am for this! thank you!!!
So I was messing around with themes and one of them changed my default, stock font. While I did find 2 apps that fixed this issue (by downloading a .hwt file with the font), neither gave me satisfactory results, as neither supported characters with carons and acutes (frequent in my mother language).
Note: I still do have the Huawei font, but not the stock Android one
How can I fix this without having to reset my whole phone?
EMUI 8
Themes app version: 8 (can update to 9)
Language: Czech
Edit:
Digging through old forum posts I found multiple comments recommending an app that's no longer on the Play Store.
I have, however, found it on ApkPure.
https://m.apkpure.com/font-reset-theme-for-emui/uk.co.olabs.theme.fontreset
It seems to work fine, however the font is a bit smaller than I remember it being, so if you have any other ideas, throw them at me.
Edit2:
Found Wingdings within the files of my phone, converted the .tff to .htw, changed the font style to Wingdings out of curiosity, and guess what. It worked, I now have the stock font again. What a wild ride.
Here's the HWT: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O7tavGmgb-GZ0fAv02VxRAeDC54OzkEU/view

Neither really are what I was looking for, but thank you. The app I listed above seems to do a satisfactory job.
I found an app that lists all the system fonts installed

The Huawei Theme Manager app kam333 recommended can generate .htw files from .tff, so I'll try to convert some of the fonts and share the results here after I'm done with it.
I want to replace the default font of huawei to IOS FONTS. I tried some apps and got only the regular version, and the bold version is not changed.
Can sombedy help?
