Could you please develop a QWERTY keyboard as well. Please?
There are some good QWERTY keywords out there. What problem do you have with them?
How can I help you to add Hebrew language? and can you somehow add an option from the keyboard for voice dictation with it? so I can dictate on Hebrew?

Maybe you want me to try to lay them in a similar style like you did? or it has some particular name so I'll search for it?

Can you type all the characters in the attached image here in the same order? It helps me to find the Unicodes easier.

3 - אבג
4 - מםנן
5 - יכךל
6 - זחט

When I'm at a field that it is needed to type with a keyboard, I can use the Google keyboard, but when I switch to the multi tap keyboard, The multi tap keyboard does not open.
Hi, thank you for adding Hebrew.
But for me as well it's not opening now the keyboard unless I switch to the Google one
Sorry for that, please check the new version I just released.

There is been a change in the new API that broke a small part of the keyboard. I fixed it in the new version.
Well, I tested it now,
And it works mostly, I already forgot how actually T9 was fast, for a smartwatch it makes more sense than qwerty I think...
But there's 1 bug I guess, when something is typed already, the Globe icon supposed to turn into a delete icon and act like it, but what happens is that the delete works but it stays as a globe icon.
Another bug is (I think it happens now on English as well) the button to switch to numbers/symbols, it works but the actual view stays on the letters.
And on Hebrew, there are no big or small letters, so the button where it supposed to switch it, acts as inputting of something that I'm not sure what it is lol.
Another feature request (maybe it's not possible) add a microphone button for speach to text for the current language (I'm still hoping to be able to dictate on Hebrew to the watch)
But overall, it works great!! I can't even tell you how happy I am for this! thank you!!!

As a foreign language student I often find myself looking for ways to use the language I'm learning/have learned on my winmo device. At first this can be very daunting as there are a lot of options out there, so I wanted to make this thread to consolidate any freeware or other options there are working for the current builds of winmo.
If people think this is a good idea I'll link this thread on the wiki. Please post any language inputs you have with a cab or a working link and I'll update the thread to include them.
INPUTS:
Chinese
Pinyin inputs
ZTA4 - (by far the BEST free pinyin input out there)
Non-Touchscreen
QVGA Touchscreen
VGA Touchscreen
WVGA Touchscreen with HTC skin (Recommended)
Handwriting inputs
Samsung Handwriting Input - VGA/WVGA Fullscreen input
Korean
Multiple Input Methods
Moakey v2 WVGA - Includes hand input, keyboard input, etc.
Japanese
Multiple Input Methods
Handwriting + Kana Input VGA/WVGA - Not touch friendly [Original Thread]
Touch Friendly Input - This is a cab I made combining touchkeysip + gesture10key SIP. NOTE: This is not an IME, you must separately install a japanese IME and use 411 japanese keyboard for it to work, but if you do it is an excellent touch friendly layout for something like the HD2.
Handwriting
Careace Japanese Writing Input - Includes font, original site here
Edit: If you have any stable working input methods for any language, please let me know.
Whatever language input you decide to install you will need a display font to go along with it. If you might be using more than one language its best to go with one of the multiple ones listed at the top, but if you are sure to only use one language a dedicated single font will provide more robust support.
FONTS:
M8 CJKT Doggold v2 - Supports Chinese/Japanese/Korean/Thai
Ko_jp_cn - More robust Chinese/Japanese/Korean support, but no thai.
Sunglobe - Small Chinese Simplified font with Trad support
Microsoft Yahei - Supports all simp and Trad Characters and most Japanese, it is supposed to support Korean as well, but I can't get it to display.
Korean Font by Careace - Original website here

If you look in the original thread that I posted next to the japanese input, you will find that you have to go into the registry and manually change the keyboard to 411 instead of 409 (english).
I'm trying to find a way to avoid doing that, as both the chinese and korean inputs I have don't require that, but so far no dice.
nevermind, forgot to reset the the phone. hah.. 0_o
ok just tried editing peoples names in korean with moakey v2. and installed the korean font cab but doesn't seem to display any korean..

I strongly recommend the M8 CJKT cab, its worked the best for me so far.
I'm using it plus moakey + zta4 on my phone right now and they both work fine.
Remember, you may have to reset a couple of times when dealing with fonts and inputs.

that's a good solution when you use for long time japanese input.. but in my case, i wont go to registry and change a key every 5 seconds! :/
but, there's nothing hurry, i finally can't use the program i wanted, so i keep searching for a kanji learner / dictionnary, with japanese inputs AND handwriting :/
Have you by chance tried this WVGA version of ZTA4?

I need a WVGA Chinese pinyin input method, one that's 6.5 compatible for my Rhodium based phone.
Nevermind, fixed this!
Hello, this thread has been incredibly helpful, thanks !
I have a little problem, I can't make Moakey & Samsung handwriting (chinese) work together... Only the last installed works and seems to disable the first installed. I think they have conflicting files or something?
For example, if Moakey is installed, then if I install Samsung handwriting, it disables handwriting in Moakey.
Any solutions? I have installed them both on internal storage, then tried to put one in internal and one in external, but no success...
You should try Mobem Software's CE-Star, and CE-Star Suite. They have keyboards, handwriting, stroke... and many others and mutiple languages.
I just tried your ZTA4, which is very nice. I think I prefer it as a keyboard Pinyin input to that of Mobem's.

The First One ZTA4 WVGA version works well, although the keyboard seems to continuously make itself the default. I have a Blackstone, HTC HD T8282, also running a WM 6.5.+ ROM, but cannot comment on Rhodium. Can't see why it should be different though. Good Luck. BTW, I have still only found CE-Star to fully display Characters in all applications, Mail, Calendar, Home, Contacts, etc.
I have czech language keyboard layout with 4 rows (1 row is with special characters instead of numbers) so will a bluetooth keyboard work according to chosen SW keyboard layout or is it already set as any bluetooth keyboard is?
Thanks
Answer:
so....have just bought usb host and wireless Logitech MK710 CZ (keyb.+mouse 3 years battery life) works perfect with czech special letters!
So it probably depends on the keyboard. So dont need to invest in a new keyboard
So Android has no competitors ....again
bump...im also interested in this
I have tried it with a USB keyboard but I guess it will be the same on the Bluetooth one. It depends what layout is selected on the Tab - if it is Czech then you will write with this layout. This however works only using Samsung's keyboard or Go Keyboard. When I have selected Swype - the typing is with US layout, no matter which layout was chosen.
Please, could you try Hackers keyboard and set czech language??
Thank you!

Doesn't work, sorry. The top row of the keyboard is typing numbers instead of accented characters.
So,
is there any way to type these characters? Perhaps changing smthin' in the system?
I'm afraid that a keyboard itself must be built for an appropriate language

No, this is software issue. Is there a Czech layout for Go Keyboard?
Unfortunately it doesn't have
So is it an android software issue or a keyboard software issue?
It is an issue with the layout, which is in the tablet. I would try searching for a keyboard for the tablet where you can make your layout - map keys to characters. This way you can customize your keyboard as you wish.
so....have just bought usb host and wireless Logitech MK710 CZ (keyb.+mouse) works perfect!
So it probably depends on the keyboard as it should be!

My phone is still on preorder, so if you add install another keyboard, say swiftkey, can you use your preferred language, do the characters show properly?
Fellow modders, could you please suggest some good Keyboards?
The problem is that there probably won't be a good swype-like keyboard available for Serbian language for a long time (there are simply too many word-forms and irregular forms per word). I've been trying to get used to Swype (the latest version) for 2 weeks now, but it's simply not possible, their Serbian dictionary is not really big and I have to type in manually at least one new word per a message which then completely destroys any speed effect that swyping has I've added ~150 my words so far, but I still have to write in new ones all the time... And wnex ord prediction is non existent, Swype sucks at predicting words. The good thing about Swype is that it keeps the standard 26 letter keyboard (all Ć, Č and C are under C; Š and S are under S etc).
I've also tried the latest SwiftKey X. The problem with it is that it shows all 30 letters of Serbian Latin script and that makes the key too small... The dictionary and word prediction seems a lot better than it is on Swype, but the keys are just so small I couldn't find an option to switch to a 26 letter keyboard while using the Serbian dictionary
So, after weeks of experimenting, I would like to return to the usual way of typing - letter by letter. What keyboard would you recommend for this?
The best keyboard for letter by letter typing on Gingerbread was that HTC one, it was A LOT better than the 2.3 AOSP keyboard! But it doesn't work on anything higher than Android 2.3
Coming to ICS and JellyBean, the AOSP keyboard has been greatly improved, but I find the keys a bit too small for our screens and when I type fast, mistakes happen all the time
I will try to use SwiftKeyX as a regular keyboard, without Serbian and "Flow" enabled, but would you recommend any more? Are there any good brand-made keyboards for Android 4.x? Sony/Xperia, Samsung/TouchWiz, HTC/Sense?
*sorry for the terribly long post*
I remember seeing a HTC Sense keyboard somewhere for ICS+. I'll post the link if I find it.

I've switched from Swype to Swiftkey and have been using it for the past week or so and deleted it last night. The more I used it, the worse the predictions and the corrections became... The Xperia keyboard is nice, but the keys are utterly to small for me, I couldn't achieve any speed or precision
I will try TouchPal and Kii keyboards in the following days, maybe one of these two will work out for me
If not, I've also signed up for the Minuum keyboard beta and I'm waiting for them to contact me.... (you can sign up here - http://minuum.com/ )
I also was searching for good keyboard for our "small" screens.
Also i needed Serbian letters and Ћирилица. I tested a lot of them and last 1 year i am using Smart Keyboard Pro.
You can edit everything you want. There is also calibration so can be calibrated it to your usage.

Thanks, mate, will check it out for sure
I have tested Kii Keyboard and Touchpal since my last post. Kii Keyboard is not on par with the bigger names (like Swype, Touchpal and Swiftkey), it just doesn't feel that mature. I didn't find it enjoyable.
Touchpal was very good for my needs, but I couldn't turn off its "toolbar" (that's how they call its word suggestion line, because it has shortcuts to some tools) which was very irritating

There's a lot keyboards at marketplace for sure but i never found any keyboard that i can change everything i want, there is always that something need to stay or i am missing something from reall keyboard. When you are typing, some suffs are just anoying and that was:
- Turn off complitlly text predirection, only Auto-capitalizion to stay,
- add enter button,
- remove speaker button,
- remove smiley button,
- remove or change popup button (usually that can makes small deley when you type fast, so without it you can type how much fast you want)
- having " , " and " . " at same time
- control extra space
- having normal, not some colored styles
- support for needed language and when i use it, i don't need to use that layout. So when i am using Serbian language, i dont need to have changed letters Z ana Y. English layout can be used.
- Calibration is incredible, its impossible to wrote wrong word with it. I dont understand how perfect can be but it is. I just will never learn to use touch screen for type message
- after all after you restore backup from memory card, calibration and all settings are same as you saved them.
There is so much more stuffs that i didn't found on other keyboard but i just need them. That was the only reason why i hated this phone when i buyed it At first look i tought that its impossible to write normal messages without 30% of bad typed words but after this one, i found it possible. Maybe there is many peoples who will find that less important but when you wrote some important mail or something, i don't wanna spend 10 minutes more to find all strings or keys i always need.
Phone is just incredible and i want to make it most possible incredible that i can

I know, and Swiftkey and Touchpal have those features as well, but I don't want to use text prediction and auto-correction... I've tried living with those features for almost a month and it didn't work out, the Serbian dictionaries available for keyboards are not very good and the amount of word forms covered is very low...
Thanks for the suggestion, though

Which I did But then SwiftKey didn't make much noise, because the keys are more cramped up than they are on the AOSP keyboard and, furthermore, the symbols were strangely positioned and smileys weren't as accessible as on the AOSP one, so...
But it doesn't matter, because Smart Keyboard Pro is just what I needed A tad bigger keys than on the AOSP keyboard and that's it. Everything is in the same place, but I have a higher speed combined with a better accuracy

Hi!
I'm latvian and in our language there are letters as ā, ē, š, ū and so on...
Question:
Is there an option (some keyboard or other method) that if I type two a (aa) and phone automatically transforms it to ā.
I found that stock android keyboard has shortcuts, but it doesn't change these phrases - they only show them as suggestion.
Thanks in advance,

Use a 3rd party keyboard maybe it'll help!
Yes, I have found 3rd party keyboard that does it, but I am not trully satified with keyboard layout and ergonomics.
So, maybe there is some option to force native android keyboard to do this... ?
