Files related to the status/notification bar :
statusbar_background.png
status_bar_background.png
status_bar_close_on.9.png
status_bar_header_background.9.png
status_bar_item_background_normal.9.png
You can find them in framework-res.apk, under the /drawable-ldpi, replace them, repack the files in framework-res.apk, replace your older framework-res by your modded one and reboot (I recommend to do the replacement under recovery, by mounting your phone or using adb and push)

I would like to have a transparent notification bar then I looked inside my framework-res.apk and I finded some png that looks related to status bar (status_bar*.png and statusbar*.png).
I edited these images adding transparency and flashed framework-res.apk to my phone (getting no errors).
Nothing has changed, do anybody know what images have to be changed to modify status bar?
Thx
The files related to the statusbar are .9.png files so they need the draw 9 patch and i dont know how to so that so just google it

Hi, thanks for reply!
So do you mean all status*.9.png images?
I have the same issue but it is not with the files. I found if I switch to the system theme in the theme chooser all my changes are there. Does anyone know where to edit a theme to make changes to the frame work?
if your still looking for transparent statusbar, you can use my cooked rom which allows transparent statusbar
The systemui.apk has to be modified for a transparent statusbar.
Search on xda or google how to do this.
Or use the advised ROM from above.

i was just wondering does anyone know how to change the colour of the volume in cyanogen....because now if i put volume up the bar is orange yellow and i want it to be blue how do i do that???
Maybe it´s possible to change the apk itself! You just have to find out the apk which is responsible for the volume and just change some pictures in the apk. Later you have to sign the apk and overwrite the old one.
This is just guess and isn´t tested.

I'm looking to replace my Galaxy note's status bar icons with the ones from the verizon droid phones. If someone could cook these up for me I would give a donation. Thanks!!
its fairly easy to do just pull your SystemUI.apk file and open it as a zip..replace images and rezip and sign then push to phone..
reboot..winning!!
Does anyone have the systemui.apk files for this?

Does anybody know how to make the top status bar all black without having to use a skin or theme?

You would have to pull your SystemUI.apk file from system/app/ and find the .png file in the /res/ folder that is used for the notification bar and then edit it to make it solid black, then save the changes, and push it back to the device.
There's no option anywhere to change the color of it.

Do you happen to know exactly which PNG? Thanks

Looking through the SystemUI.apk from the first ROM zip I could find on my computer (Virtuous 3.0.2 GSM), it could be one of the following:
notification_section_divider.9.png
notification_tab_off.9.png
notification_tab_on.9.png
status_bar_background_draw.png
status_bar_bg_title.png
But I've not tried to do something like this myself on any phone, though I've done some SystemUI.apk editting on my Prime tablet

Go here uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/
Just mess around with it. With it you can edit pretty much anything in systemUI. You will need to upload the systemUI, framework-res, and com.htc.resources apk's, and then it will create a flashable zip for you. Changing the status bar is one of the easiest features in it actually!
Edit: If you want me to do it for you just let me know what Rom you are on.
