Hi all,
Been searching for a while but i cant seem to find the answer, im trying to make my phone appear on my pc so i can recover some files i accidently deleted, the problem is it will only show up as the storage card, i can get the phones memory to show up but only via active sync, so im just wondering is there a way to make the phones internal memory appear as a removable drive so i can run a recovery program on it?
Cheers

Not that I know of. Can you not run it via active sync?
or maybe vise versa?
When connecting as a mass storage device, the OS on your desktop/laptop takes control of that "removable disc" (can't access it via the phone). Only sd card - external storage can be available. I presume that the inner storage must be maintained by the phone at all times, when turned on.
You can however make a backup or modify files within the inner storage with a file explorer installed on your device (Resco explorer for example). Just make adjustments, to view hidden and system files.
I wouldn't advise you to delete or modify critical system files tho...

Hello
I tried to search the forums, but probably due to my lack of fluency in englishg language was unable to find an answer in 15 minutes.
The thing is, my phone memory is rather full with some pictures and other files that I have saved on it. Is there any decent way of browsing my phone memory when phone is connected to pc, so I can sort and copy files from internal to SD memory?
"tap" coping and pasting is super annoying.
connect active sync not hard disk mode, then browse my computer, and you should see your phone listed as a device, when you browse into the phone there are two disks, called " \ " and " storage card". the \ is your internal memory.
and if I have win7, I would have to install Mobile Device Centre?
you can browse some folders on device memory also by using wifi remote connection

it may already be installed, but you may have better luck getting it to work if you go to teh ms download page for wmdc and get the latest version.
So, long story short: my internal sd card is infected with virus
The details:
Today I plugged my phone via usb to my laptop to transfer some files when I discovered that all of my folders have become .exe files. When I tried to open them, my antivirus software said there is a trojan, to be exact this one - Win32.HLLW.Napad.
Last week I was using my friend's usb drive in my phone with the option USB on the Go and maybe this was the source of the infection.
Anyway, the question is what to do now??? I am using Dr. Web on my laptop, scaned the internal sd card and found 61 infected files/folders. The problem is I can't cure them. The only option is to move them to quarantine. When I do that and plug my phone again, they are gone. BUT when I use file manager on the phone, the files and folders are still there.
After moving the files/folders to quarantine... and use file manager on my phone to browse the internal sd, their extensions are displayed corectly now. Before that all the folders were .exe. What does that mean???
Any suggestions how to cure/clean them cuz I don't want to delete any of them. We're talking about pics folder, data, music & etc. ??
Thanks in advance.
Try one of the many data restore packages via USB to PC.. sure a search will provide plenty available.
If not able to retrieve format the storage yes you will loose everything but hey presto problem solved, not that that virus 'if isn't false positive" would be a problem to device since not same architecture..
Then in future keep backing up images to computer or us online storage from phone...

I have a sprint s3 with 16gb internal and 16gb external and I want to completely back up both directly to my computers Hard drive. If I connect it via usb it either takes hours to copy all the folders and when it does work, I wont get everything in the storage. What is a good app to usb connect my phone and backup or copy and entire directory? WiFi is also and option, but not google drive or dropbox.. I have too much data for them anyways. Thanks
Hi guys
Since I lost the CID of my RAZR XT910, I'v been using Boot Menu Manager. There's one annoying problem has been always bugging me.
The contents of both internal and external storage are not being correctly shown on computer (Windows 7), no matter the device is connected as MTP or mass storage.
For example, I create a folder with file manager on the device and then connect phone to computer, this folder may not be displayed. It seems that the contents are cached on the computer and never get refreshed. This happens most of the time.
Everytime I transfer files I have to use a card reader, and this is very inconvenient.
Does anyone know if this is caused by Boot Menu Manager or there's something wrong with my computer system?
Thanks for any infomation in advance.
i want to view all files/folders when viewing folders via USB. now mass storage is an option on my phone but only for mSD, not for internal and old apps don't work anymore on 4.3.
any way around this or am i forced to move files around on my phone 1st?
If you're on Windows and use Total Commander, there's a freeware ADB plugin for accessing both internal and external storage. You'll need to tick Show hidden files option in TC settings to see all the files. Access the phone thru Network panel, like a network share.
cool. will deffo try that! annoying having to work around this
do you have to isntall total commanded on the phone too?
i'm getting no response fromthe ADB server error.
