My X10 is stuck at the SE screen without doing anything special. The screen was off this morning. After turning it on it gets to the SE screen and gets stuck.
Tried PC companion repair and normal update. Does detect the phone and flashes. Still stuck at SE screen.
Removed uSD and SIM, no luck. I think its dead? Any tips before sending it back to SE?
Anybody out there? X10 down, x10 down! I'm forced to use FroYo (pimped Kaiser). The irony..
BTW, 026 1click rooted. Worked for two weeks without issues..
Suggest you download SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) from SE and repair using that.. should allow you to go into "flash" mode which I don't think PCC does..

Yep, both successful. Still hangs at the SE screen.
Hmmm tried Jerpelea's unbrick flashtool and the full 026 flash. Both flash without issues. Still stuck at SE screen.
Do these flashtools flash the whole memory or only partially?
This smells like my last Sony Back2HTC..

anyone got an idea?
Don't know who's been praying for me but my X10 just started working Doesn't feel right because I still have no reason why it stopped working.
I had the same once when my battery was extremely empty, it took more than 15 minutes on the charger before it started up normally. Never had problems since, so I don't think you should be to worried...

AFAIK my batt was full. Lets hope its cured.

Another slap in the face by SE. No more X10's on stock FOR REPLACEMENT. Only for new customers. This is crazy!! Once you bought a product you go directly on the ****list...
FU Erricson and FU Sony, I'm going HTC again..
So I got a new X10i and SE was so kind to send me a new free (second!) battery
But then again, you can't buy my love

went to biggest service center of Sony in Singapore at Wisma atria.
they said 'sir, it ll cost you $5 though'
its not a big amount..but wtf?
anyway...the showroom was closing in an hour and they said they need 4 hours...so i ve to come tomorrow.
problem is...i have been unable to update my phone OTA or via SEUS.
i have a singtel branded model.
can someone help?
Wait until it will be avaiable the update in your country or debrand it.Mine is debranded and on nordic

That isn't right. Flashing takes 4 minutes. And is FREE.
Download the flash kit and do it yourself:
A few hours ago, someone reported that Singtel phones can now be updated via PC Companion.
Or you can debrand your phone and update via PC Companion as well. Search through this forum for instructions.
Anyhow, read here. You can ask for a refund. The upgrade should be free.

less than an hour thats including taking the time to backup anything important with myphone explorer app and pc side of the program and rooting your 1.6 to make a Titanium backup of your installed apps ... changing the build.prop file with root explorer and then updating with SEUS and re routing and reinstalling your apps with Titanium backup
thx..i am on 2.1 now
the HD camera is quite choppy btw.
also..what home screen u guys using?..the default is also laggy
There have been a lot of reports of it being quite slow/ laggy after upgrading, but this sooner goes and the phone is very quick.. seems to depend on a few things - like how many pictures you've got, how much background syncing the phone's got to do with FB, social phonebook, emails, contacts etc etc... once it's done all that it's gooooood...
and to answer your question Launcher pro.. it's a lot like ADW, but a bit better.

Brother, you should call in to the SE Hotline and tell them which Service Centre charge you money for upgrading the firmware.
If for me, I will sure call the SE Hotline and make sure that my visit will be free for upgrading the firmware before I go down.
Effectively you should donate this money to the Dev team now
Well as the title says i rooted the phone a long time ago. I noticed my phone didn't charge yesterday so I started messing with it and realized it would need to be sent back. so I wanted to start unrooting, but I couldn't connect into flash or usb at all. I did manage to start a flash once , but then it lost connection half way through and the phone doesn't turn on at all now. I can't wiggle usb or anything at all to get it to recognize so I imagine the board or something need to b replaced. question is will sony be able to tell my phone is rooted in its condition and if the replace board i'm in the clear right? thanks guys!

i think if it doesnot turn on they dont bother repairing it.it is happen with a printer i giveback to bestbuy and they replace it right away without even plunging to power.
oh yeah when I say doesn't turn on I mean it vibrates as usual when u try to power on, but it goes no where. no sony logo or anything.
Oh no. Just tell them the truth, hopefully they don't care... wish ur phone good luck...

Well technically rooting the handset does void the warranty. However, if there's no way for it to turn on, I don't see how they'll be able to tell!
Just use sony ericsson update service

I have tried the SE update service and the phone won't go into flash mode because it seems that the usb port is faulty and loses connection. I'm just sending it in and hoping it gets by them. If not I will just pay for the repair I guess.

This happened to me too. USB port was faulty, couldn't charge, couldn't flash. Vibrate on power key and red light flash but no Sony logo or anything. I borrowed a friends fully charged battery and got phone turned on. Entered recovery and wiped everything, system, data and cache. Then sent it off for repair as it was then a blank phone. They just sent me a new one

Thanks....This eases my mind a little. My wife actually has an x10 as well and I tried her battery as well and it won't go anywhere. It just doesn't work so I am fairly confident that they will jsut be repairing or sending me a new one. It goes out tomorrow so my fingers are crossed. Thanks again for the insight everyone.
Update: I called Sony today for an update on my repair and I was told there was no record of my service request. The support agent I spoke to assured me he would call me back by the end of the day with an update. Well I was waiting and UPS arrives suprising me with my phone The packaging was verrrry bad. It was in a flimsy box wrap in some thin styrofoam wrap thing. The box was dented pretty badly, but the phone seemed to be in working order. The best part is they just sent me a straight replacement. So I put sim in and power her up and it's asking for an unlock code...AHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Spoke to Sony, AT&T and Rogers to try and get them to provide one, but they wouldn't give me one. So now I am waiting for a code to be sent to me from an online company. Hopefully will be up and running within the next 24 hours. I'm just happy it was replaced no questions asked. It actually was sent out to me the same day it was received so that's some quick turn around time.
They can always check for root eeven if it doesnt turn on how? Via the sdcard they take it out and plug it into a sdcard reader then onnpc they check for stuff unusual like superuser app or anything revelant lol

And besides, files related to root are not stored on the SD.
From release notes on emma you can see that from 2.11.4 version they added detection of rooted phones..
So answer is yes, they can detect if phone is rooted, ofc if they are able to read data from phone..
I have tried 3 different unlock companies online and none have been able to generate a unlock code for my new phone. This is unreal. I dodged the rooted phone issue easily since they couldn't power on phone, but they sent me back a locked Rogers phone and no luck getting it unlocked yet. This sucks :-(
Hello folks.
This time (2nd X10) I got myself a dead X10a from the trashcan. Shows all common hardbrick symptoms (blinking red led, vibrates once on powerup)
Though, it seems to be charging the battery, still enters flashmode, but fails to finish flashing, be it under SEUS, PCC or Flashtool. Is it repairable without a box? (got no access to a SETool, no techs in the city with one, either)
Could I use JTAG?
Or is it really dead in my hands? Is this a semcboot/TA/GDFS failure?
Also, label was peeled, are the testpoints under it useful?
Thanks in advance

If its charging the battery and it connects to flashtool its defiantley not hardbricked.. try a diffent ftf file sodnt ask me where to find idk where they are haha
Already tried flashing all the stock .ftf files I could find. Something is wrong with the phone, flashtool says phone disconnects in the middle of the flash (generally around 20%)

Having a bricked phone through whatever means is a pain. That's a given. But, are you worried about Sony denying you repair due to certain "modifications" on your phone?
Having bricked my Xperia U at least 4 times now, each repair has gone perfectly. My phone was full of modified software (Custom ROM's, no DRM keys, modified TA partition, etc.) but they still were happy to repair it. My advice to anybody who is sending their Xperia in to Sony Customer Service.
Flash a Stock FTF (If you can). If not, never fear. I've sent in a completely fried phone loaded with CyanogenMod, and they've still had the courtesy to repair it.
Think of a realistic fault, other than "I tried to unlock my bootloader by modifying my TA partition" or whatever. When you're explaining it to the service engineer (Whether they're your provider or Sony directly), state that it's got a "touch screen fault". Come up with an alibi on why your device isn't working, for instance:
I charged my phone overnight. When I turned it on in the morning, it just refused to boot. The red light flashes but that's it.
ACT DUMB. The more tech-savvy they believe you are, the less likely they are to accept you under warranty
Obviously, take this advice with a grain of salt. Whilst lying is horrible and unethical, if it saves you buying a new phone then I believe it's worth it.
Many thanks,
-Toby

Very weird thing happened to my Z2 a couple minutes ago. I was in the bathroom playing clash of clans and was about to take a shower and left my phone in a place where it wont get wet. When i was supposed to check my phone i just noticed a dead screen. Then i turned it off via volume up and power. When i turned it it on the phone screen flickered as if it was about to lose power and screen also is not responsive.. I thought turning it off for a few minutes will bring the phone back to normal but it didn't.. My phone now will boot up to the xperia logo and screen will off.. i tried calling my phone and to my surprise the call feature is working.. Does anyone have any idea as to what may have happen? TIA

try repairing device via sony Sony PC companion
if the problem persists then contact sony customer support as your device should be covered by the 2 year warrenty that comes with all xperias
Envious data supposing this is a hardware issue will the warranty cover the replacement of the front panel e.g screen if needed? i flashed my devices with a 314 RU firmware should i flash it back to original software before going to Sony service center? Thanks in advance
i reflashed my firmware via flashtool but screen still unresponsive DAFUQ

Any modifacation of the device not from sony will void yoir warrenty, flashing new firmwares isnt detectable but bootloader relocking may be
