travel charger + usb cable - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Accessories

my standerd mains charger has a removable plug in section. so i was wondering if HTC make the interchangable ends for use in europe or usa ect... and were i could purchase them for not alot of money in the UK
also a space USB cable, were would i get one for cheap in the uk? would be handy to keep a spare as i hear they do break.
Thanks

i bought a second charger on ebay to get a second USB cable, cost 6 dollars shipped
dont know where to buy foreign plug adapters though

If you read the label on the adapter itself, you will see it is compatible with a wide range of voltages and frequencies. Its actually a small transformer, and you will notice that laptop power supplies also have the same "worldwide" compatibility. So all you actually need is a plug adapter to actually get the prongs to fit into the wall outlets of the countries you intend to travel to. You can usually get these for a few bucks at travel stores, airports, and other places. This is the cheapest way to do it, and that way you can often use those adapters with your other electric devices (electric razor, iPod, whatever) depending on the electrical specs of those devices.

This guy has a cradle at 11 euros in hong kong he also sells trough ebay.
With tranportation I got my for about 22 euros.
Regards,
Be advised that the cradles offered by eXpansys, Brando, and others lack both external AC power and a spare battery charging slot.
I bought one from eXpansys based on bad information, and I'm pretty much stuck with it (it's not worth paying the shipping to send it back for what I would receive as a refund).
The lack of external AC means that if you shut off your computer, you also shut off charging.
The lack of extra battery slot, well, that's just a huge PITA!

It might be worth getting a power adaptor with a usb output. I received one with my fortuna clip-on gps. Along with my usb car adaptor, this means I just need a usb mini cable to use all power options, and also to sync the phone.
ie keep the adaptors where you need them, and just carry the usb mini cable around. It turns out this is a much tidier charging solution than I ever managed for my old p900.
Also, Be adviced that USB charging is way SLOWER than AC Adaptor Charging!
If you have doubts, record the time it takes to fully charge a battery or simply check the differences between the heat it makes when u connect to a USB charger and AC charging(which is HOT)
I got a dock from ebay - like the expansys ones (etc) it only charges through the USB on the computer. However, this suits me as most of my day is in front of the machine and even when off (as I use a docking station) the USB is still powered and hence charges the TyTN.
Wrote a small review here: http://rakh1.homeip.net

Rich, is it possible to plug in the Tytn charger cable into the back of the cradle and use it as a stand-alone charging station ?
I have the brando one, and I can use it via USB charging or by ac power.
Its uses the same connector in the back
Finally received mine today (the Brando/eBay one).
For some reasons, it syncs much slower than just using the USB cable??? :?
And the bright blue LED is constantly on... which is a bit annoying.
tytn cradle I had it.

International USB Charger Recommendations?

I have been searching high and low for a good international USB charger for my TP2 (and other devices). I've found several, but reviews tend to be either mixed or non-existent.
My dream gizmo is something very compact and lightweight that can be jammed into almost any wall outlet in the world, which I can then plug a USB cable into and charge my TP2 (and ideally other stuff which can be charged with a standard USB cable).
Do any of you fine forum folks have suggestions? Or at least warnings for which products to avoid?
Well, when I travel I have a universal travel adaptor (ie it can fit into any power plug), and I plug into that the USB charger that came from HTC. Or I charge from my laptop.
HTC itself sells an international charger kit, but if you're going to multiple countries, it just means extra weight.

Just about any USB charger that has a 5.0V output should do fine. I use the same one that charges my iPod to charge various gadgets.
I picked up a nice one on one of Cathy Pacific's flights. They also sell them on their site.

Oh! I also have iGO laptop charger and various adapters. iGo works great.

[Q] Gauging Interest | Laptop power brick to G-Tablet Charger

Trying to gauge interest for a pet project.
How many of you would be interested in an adapter that would allow you to use a laptop "brick" to charge your G-Tab?
First design is going to be for the Dell laptop power supplies (since I have a plethora of them )
If there is enough interest in other laptop supplies I will look at different connectors as well.
No idea on mfg costs right now, need to prove concept first. Cost target (Resale) is ~$10
I'd like to see and adapter that fits the Dell D and E series Latitude chargers.
That's the one I'm aiming for initially. Newer series Dell with the ROUND receptacle. I "think" it might still work with the octagonal receptecles though. Need to get some samples and try it out for fit.
Cost might be sligthly higher than I originally anticipated (Still <$20 though) - the damn Dell connector is a quasi-custom and cheapest I've found is $6+ shipping....grumble....
If the old receptacles work, that brings the cost down.
Haven't priced the tablet side connector yet, but I'm guessing it's going to be a couple bucks with a lead on it.
More to come....hoping to have some parts by next week to start building up protos.
I'd be very interested in something that would plug into a USB port on a desktop or laptop or any USB power supply.
I have a couple of D-Series laptops and would love to use the same charger for them and my G-Tab. I would definitely buy one.

If you have USB3.0 it "might" be possible as that has higher current carrying (3.6W) potential than USB1 and USB2.0 which are ~500mW at best. That's one disadvanage to the big ass battery in these things, which I think are 7.2V, so they usually require a higher input voltage (hence why we get 12V in). Even with USB3.0 though, we are still looking at long (10x+) charging times versus the wall-wart.
It's "technically" possible to step up the current USB 5V to 12V, but the power level is so low that it would take forever and a day to charge ( or about 48x longer than the current 12V/2A wall charger)
without a proper teardown though, it's tough to tell what the charging circuit looks like on the board. My guess is it's a 12V / 7.2V buck charger as it's cheaper than a boost/buck to implement. My bigger question about the internal charging circuit though is what it actually draws in terms of power...the wall wart is rated for 12V/2A, but those are usually overbuilt to prevent them from blowing up. Hoping it's closer to 1A draw, but again without knowing what the charger chip is, there's no (Easy) way to determine this without probing the connections.

Count me in as well. I travel a ton for work and having one less charger to stuff in my carry-on would be great - well worth the sub-$20 price.
I currently pack a PA-4E, stock charger for a Latitude E6510
I would be interested, though I have an ASUS laptop at the moment.
On a side note, if you did only decide to make one and it were for Dell, anyone could purchase a universal adapter and care the one adapter and two tips. Just a thought.

Where Can I cheaply buy Charger/ USB Data cable?

i've looked around and they go for around 20 bucks...
overpriced as hell... where can i buy this cable cheap? thinking of buying couple.
Since the connector is proprietary and not a lot of 3rd parties have started making them they can be hard to find. You will have better results if you look for a cable fro the original TF101 Transformer as the cables are the same.
Here is one on eBay for about $13
You should note, that if you are hoping to charge your tablet you will be much better off buying an Asus wall charger since using the cable to charge by USB will take a very long time and won't work while you are using the tablet. Similarly iPhone chargers and similar USB wall adapters will also be very slow and won't work while you are using the tablet.
You can buy additional wall chargers from Office Depot. I have purchased several and they have very fast shipping.

Where to find US adapter for the official charger?

Hi guys, does anyone here know where to buy the US adapter part of the charger? I am speaking specifically of the piece that goes into the charger. The two pronged plug insert itself. Here is a link of an item on ebay that includes the adapter with the charger.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/US-USB-Wall...ccessories&hash=item3a742ee563#ht_3518wt_1018
So ideally I'm looking to spend less than $9 (otherwise I can just buy above item and keep the charger as a spare). I don't want to use an US adapter on top of the Hong Kong one on my tab because it becomes way to bulky and would not fit the outlet near my bed. I'd need to use this outlet as its most ideal.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
EDIT: I'm going to post this in the galaxy tab 10.1 forum as well just so it gets more hits. Its a bit dead here with respect to there.
I think you'll have an hard time getting just the pronged plug...and that's 9$ with shipping included, so maybe it is better to just order the full charger.
...but you made me curious...
Contrary to my previous GT-P1000 charger, the charger on my new 7.7 (European edition) does not feature a USB socket on top where the USB plug then goes, like the one on the Ebay link. Instead, it features an integral cord coming out of the charger (a stand-alone USB cable was also provided in the package for PC connection purposes)
Do you mean that the US version features the much more practical "charger with USB socket + USB cable" solution?
This is important to me since I figured the chargers had been changed from model to model on account of a technical imposition (the cord end from the charger, on the tab side also features a different, slightly longer plug, when compared to the GT-P1000 one)
If it is the case that the charger format is optional, I will jump and get one of the "old" ones as the previous arrangement (charger + separate cable) is way more versatile.
XK
The US version charger is a usb charger adaptor. Also, it has the front plug portion changeable for regions if you have the fittings. I'll take pictures when im home
