[Q] How to enable stock ROM 1.66 with 576MB RAM? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm a newbie for ROM cooking, experienced cookers, please advise.
I'm using HD2/Leo phone, I learned how to use HSPL, flash a cooked ROM, but I can't found a Chinese traditional version of cooked ROM, so I'm start thinking of cooking the ROM my own, and what all I need is retain original 1.66 709.3 Taiwan version of stock ROM, but only to enable 576MB RAM.
I found a kitchen, oskitchen zero 1.31, use the GUI and extracted the stock ROM, and stop here, because I don't know which files need to be replaced. And BTW, the notification enhancement needed to recomod?
Experienced cookers, please advise, thanks in advance!!!

just install a TMOS radio and you have 576 mb ram
go to radio thread

Hi bountygiver, installing a TMOUS radio doesn't change anything? anymore idea?

the 2.xx radio only won't enable 576mb ram....
you also need a 2.XX-rom's nk.exe and replace the 1.66 nk.exe with it.
to ensure tmous-compatibility, you should also use os.nb.payload from 2.XX.

Thank you HD2owner, I replace v2.14 nk.exe with Tmous radio and flash it, but the boot process stop at Windows screen, now I know I should also replace the os.nb.payload.
Is there any risk of bricking my HD2 phone? I'm scared!!!

you also have to rec-mod ntconfig.dll (ext/notification enhancement).
this should fix the freeze at the windows bootscreen.
some say you have to rec-mod all modules in notification enhancement and concurrence manager but i use them as modules.
i didn't face problems until now with only rec-mod ntconfig.dll.
right click rec-mod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4807024
if you have a international hd2, don't worry about bricking (2.xx stock roms work on international hd2).
if you have a tmous-hd2, you should always use a 2.xx-base and according radio.

Please help - Need to revert to original HTC 6.0 ROM

I'm having some trouble with one of the custom ROM's around here (not that it is not faster and richer than the original one but some applications are not working for me)
Could someone please help me revert to the original HTC 6.0 ROM?
I am using the 3.5SPL and so i guess this is why the HTC reflasher is not working
Also would radio version be a problem? I also have the latest radio version around; is this compatible with the old HTC 6.0 ROM?
Thanks !!

I don't think anyone has converted the official HTC 6 Rom to SPL3.5 but dheerajjuneja has slightly modified it
see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2414269&postcount=25
If you want to go to the official rom you would have to use the spl downgrader (see the sticky links)
I think the official Roms reflash the radio so it wouldn't matter what radio you had
Why dont you try AP3
It is a good Rom and my wife has never found a need to change it

i've used AP3 before and it was a good rom.
But i'm trying to switch to something as plain and well tested as possible so that i stop having these random issues and incompatibilities (i'm on AP4 at the moment).
is there a way to revert the spl so that i can reflash the old rom?
thanks !

This is the link that Cmonex posted to downgrade SPL http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405604 off the rom links sticky.
Honestly if you are having troubles you put yourself at risk of a few problems reverting and I don't think it is worth it.
Use the AP3 for spl3.5 that I linked above and you should be sweet.
Make sure you remove your cards and do a hard reset before and fter you flash to make sure you have flushed all the settings that may be causing you issues.

SOLUTION n.1
1) Revert back to spl 1.2 following the instructions posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405604
2) Flash any 1.2 ROM
3) Flash the original HTC ROM using SSPL as explained in the same thread
ALL (SPL, RADIO, OS, SPLASH SCREEN, EXT_ROM) will be the original HTC
SOLUTION N.2
Flash the WWE SPL 3.5 HTC Rom modded from IRUS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=390328 or from
dheerajjuneja (modded also fro blackberry connect) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2414269&postcount=25
SPL will stay unchanged, the OLINEX 3.5
Well, earlier this morning while having SPL3.5 on my device i tried to reflash my Athena with the stock HTC WM6 ROM to see what happens; normally that didn't work and left me unable to boot
Now i tried the SPL Downgrader, but i need a running OS to do that.
So i went to the bootloader, and tried installing two versions of AP 3.0 that i have to get a running OKS... The ROMs install just fine, but i'm stuck in a reboot loop that keeps taking me trough the "tap the screen to start using windows" and the AP 3.0 automatic os customization
is there a way to stop that from the loop?
how do you proceed to carry on from now on?
Also, what are the ROMS that can be installed straight from the bootloader like AP3? Maybe another ROM with no ROM customizations and automatic reboot?
Later Edit: Tried the Irus HTC WM6 SPL 3.5 ROM from the bootloader screen and it seems to be installing...
Keeping my fingers crossed
PS: I'm trying to find a thread to find out more about what is a SPL, what does it have to do with the OS and the boot mechanism in WM, anybody know a good resource for that?
OK, It seems i got there; after the Irus ROM, i use the SPL Downgrader and than reflashed the original HTC ROM, and voila !
I seem to have got the HTC WM6 ROM with 1.50 RADIO.
What more do i have to do to get "all-stock"?
Should i use a vanilla SPL1.2 installer to restore the original SPL (i think i'm running the 1.2 OliPro right now)
as a matter of fact, is there any reason to restore the original SPL?
And... is Radio 1.75 better than the 1.50 in terms of WIFI stability? WIFI performance seems to be rather bad
i need rom for htc s711
i need rom original for htc s711 version of onbl 1.25.0000 spl 1.25.0000 cpld 04

How to enable 576 mb of ram in italian hd2

Hi i have an italian hd2 with original rom 1.66.408.1 (76641) ITA with 2.12.50.02_2 radio. i want to enable 576 mb of ram in my hd2, how can i do it?
Sorry for my bad english. Thank you
P.S. I have done the Hspl 2
only by flashing a ROM that has 576mb enabled. You cannot do it to the rom you have, you cannot do it without flashing a new rom (and radio)

What radio i have to download?
any 2.07.50.x or higher, but teh radio on its own wont do it, you need to flash a new rom too, either a custom rom with 576 enabled, or a tmous stock rom.
okey but i have already a 2.12.50.02_2 radio and i want to flash the AxLor Leo V.10, is it ok? Can i flash the rom with sspl?
sure, i dont see why not, ive never used sspl. (why do you want to use sspl? you already have hspl, just flash the rom)

[Q] Using ROM 2.13 on European HD2s?

Probably a stupid question, but since HTC show no inclination to release the latest ROMs like 2.13 for European phones, does the TMOUS 2.13 ROM work perfectly on European HD2s? Is it the best stock ROM option or are we safer sticking to the WWE 1.66 ROM?
Cheers
tmous roms work fine on regular leo. 2.13 isn't the latest, there's a 2.14 somewhere, and even a 3.something, i think, though i'm not sure whether that can be flashed as is or whether It's only for use in cooked roms, so be sure and read around.,
On my T8585 it doesn't work. I had tried many ROMs(TMOUS based and TMOUS stock) and with every single one phone is stuck(completely frozen - only battery removing or soft reset helps) on Launching HTC Sense. All that with 2.08 or 1.66 HSPL and 2.xx.50 radios. If I flash 2.xx.51 radio, phone is able to boot and start Sense but after receiving or making a call the phone is frozen again. But, with 2.xx.51 I can disable HTC Sense. Then I flash back .50 radio. Phone can then work with that radio without Sense but is very unstable and can be frozen at any time. Tried the same scenario with and withouth SD card - no difference.
Tried also latest test ROMs, 3.01 and 3.02 WWE, and 3.04 all watermarked. With any HSPL(1.66,1.43 or 2.08) in hardware information is stated 576MB of RAM, but on SD Card&Phone Storage Settings there is only about 200MB Total program(it should be 448MB). After flashing full test ROM(with new SPL 3.02 - flashed with gold card) memory settings are usual for any standard LEO regardless or flashed radio.
you, my friend, have a fault.
every day dozens(hundreds?) of people flash tmous based roms to regular hd2s with no issues. id start with a flash back to stock, maybe task29 too, if i were you.
i've had a regular leo since january and in all that time it has spent a total of maybe 5 days NOT running a tmous based rom with a tmous radio.
Hello Samsamuel
Tried that also but it doesn't help at all.
Stock ROMs works without a hitch but 576mb enabled ones is a bitter kind of fruit for my Leo. Also Android works but I have to add mem=352M in the set cmdline for full RAM kernel. I think something is wrong with my phones RAM memory. I've bout the phone on 4th of dec last year with 2years contract from VIP in Serbia. It was factory unlocked from the start. I don't have any information how other phones from VIP behave regarding RAM.
At the moment I am using Artemis 27 ROM with 1.66 HSPL and 2.12.50 radio and it's working fine - no major drawbacks.
What's the numbers on boot loader screen for ptouch and pled on your phone( on mine is 0x05 and 0x20)?

ahh well in that case it sounds like you may have a pre production model, and sorry but i dont want to advise you any more, since i have no knowledge of them, except that they dont seem to have the same ammount of RAM as the regular leo.
There is a user called xmoo who is very interested and knowledgable about test models, maybe he can tell you more (and indeed help you tell whether it IS a pre prod or not)
Ja sam imao slične probleme kada sam koristio "stari" HSPL2, pa sam stavio HSPL3 i sve radi savršeno. Moj HD2 je kupljen u HR VIPu isto je došao otključan.
Koristim KWBR 3.12 i Radio: 2.12.50.02_2. Ako si isprobao sve, onda nema druge nego prodaš svoj uređaj i nabaviš drugi... Može bit da je VIP poslao na srbsko tržište neke "čudne" verzije uređaja.
Hello,
Could somebody clarify my mind about differences between rom for European or T-Mobile HD2.
I will receive my HD2 T-Mobile within few days. How can I be sure not to brick it from start ?
I red somewhere that I have to use HSPL3 before flashing any ROM.
If I start with that does my phone protected from bad ROM, can I try every ROM I see or is there something minimum release or something else to take care before selecting ROM ?
If you think I'm out of context, please let me know or reply me using MP.
Ocelot
non tmous based cooked roms in themselves won't brick your device, but they won't work either, however non tmous stock roms contain radios that WILL permanently brick your device.you are currently posting in the regular hd2 section, go back to the site root and find the tmous specific hd2 section, and only get your roms from there.

Thank you for answer.
I know there is a specific section for T-Mobile HD2, but as you have probably seen, I'm Belgian and I'm looking for French ROM. Nobody report French version in the appropriate section because TMOUS is not sold in Europe.
May I ask you how I can know if a ROM includes radios or not ? Is there specific [] to tell me Yes or Not ?
Thanks.
P.S. This is my last message in that item so left place for Standard EU HD2 owner.
cooked roms will always say in the first few posts whether they are tmous compatible. i've not seen any cooked rom that includes a radio, but so long as you read the first posts, all the info will bethere. if in doubt, simply don't flash it, there are plenty to choose from.

It doesn't matter if your phone is a T-Mobile one or not. What does matter is if your phone is a USA T-Mobile. The specification: European model hass a 512MB ROM and 448MB RAM, the USA version has a 1GB ROM and 576MB RAM. Go to the 'Settings' tab, select 'About phone', select 'Hardware information'. There you will see the RAM and ROM information.
If you are flashing an HTC or mobile operators ROM then HSPL is not required. If you want to flash a custom ROM, then HSPL is required. No doubt, in the future you will at least want to try out a custom ROM, therefore it does little harm to flash HSPL to give you more flexability.

[Q] Help with Cooking

Hello, downloaded a WinMo 28244 build for my HD2 and imported in OsKitchen along with a v3.14 ROM WWE. So will my cooked ROM work on HSPL or do I have to select some other base ROM to work on HSPL?? I dont want to cook a ROM which needs SPL 3.03 to work since I have HSPL and I enjoy it..

way not SPL 3.03? nothing wrong with that.
Just use SSPL_RUU.exe for installing it and all is fine.
SPL 3.03 is working fine so do also Radio 2.15.50.14.
Edit way opening two threads with the same question? and adding the same question in a third thread? I mean ons will be enough no?
and just a question about the WM build. Way you choose the 28244 build instead of 29007? just a question.
@ OP,
This is now your main thread. The duplicates have been closed. Good luck with getting help with your question.

Didn't know exactly where to create this thread.. Whether in Q&A or in Chefs' section. Moving on, read many posts stating that 28244 build has better battery life. Please feel free to suggest me any other build which has advantages over it may those be performance wise or visually. Also, I prefer HSPL as it gives more control on flashing 'Splash Screens' or 'Radio' separately. So again, will I be able to use 3.14 with HSPL without the SPL 3.03 without any performance issues?? Or should I choose another base ROM to start with?

Build 2905 and 2907 are very stable and fast. (I don't have the impression that thy consume a lot.)
But personally if you would use the latest stock ROM 3.14 I would more suggest you SSPL than HSPL.
Honesty the included radio is good, spl 3.03 (beside the fact it isn't compatible with HSPL) is okay, and about the Splash screen, pff well what to say, peoples used there phone if it's turn on, the splash screen is a fraction of a moment that you will see it, and peoples don't wait to have a nice splash screen but preferring a nice, stable and fast ROM.
Thanks Kurt for your input. I will have to consider these points as well

[Q] HTC ROM and 576MB Unlock issues

Hi,
I have the offical HTC Rom 3.14.405.2.
I have been trying various Radios to unlock the hidden RAM. I have found that Radio_2_07_51_22_2 unlocks the ram, and allows me to run all my applications without memory issues, and don't have to use ClearRAM.
I tried other newer radios, which lock the RAM, giveing me grief.
The problem is I cannot run Android SD Builds using Radio_2_07_51_22_2.
Any ideas on how to get around this, without using Custom ROMs, as I have not found one I like yet.

Sir, first of all if you run stock ROM 3.14 you need to remove HSPL from your device. Reason; HSPL in combination with stock ROM 3.14 coust problems and gives you a limitation of +/-50MB of free program memory.
Secondly stock ROM 3.14 came with the 2.15.50 radio who will deblock the extra ram if you used a custom rom with that option ore a Android NAND build.
Thirdly don't use/install a other radio on stock rom 3.14 (you need HSPL for changing your radio, and like mention before HSPL isn't compatible)
fourthly , Radio 2.07.51 don't unlock the available Ram, it's because you used HSPL in combination with stock ROM 3.14 who let see you these error.
fifthly, Yes, stock ROM 3.14 with his 2.15.50.14 radio will unlock the Ram on a custom ROM; but Stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with Android NAND.
PS; this thread belongs to the "HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A and General" thread section, so we will ask to move it there.
I flashed the ROM with HSPL 2.08, and it is still on there, along with the 3.14 ROM.

Like mentioned previously, stock ROM 3.14 and HSPL aren't compatible. So remove HSPL and install stock ROM 3.14 again.
3.14 not for my device
Thanks for your advice so far...
more problems...
As my device is a T-Mobile UK device, I had to use HSPL to get 3.14 on in the 1st place.
What is the best way to get 3.14 on without HSPL?

Don't understand way you had need of HSPL, I mean the T-Mobile UK branded device have also received a 3.14 stock ROM update. (RUU_Leo_S_TMO_UK_3.14.110.1)
You can download the RUU_Leo_S_TMO_UK_3.14.110.1 here
So first remove HSPL and install than the stock ROM.
Or easily'er, just flash the right stock ROM over your SD-Card (this will remove HSPL during the installation).
Thanks, but I did not see that on the HTC UK site.
I will download and try.
