Probably a stupid question, but since HTC show no inclination to release the latest ROMs like 2.13 for European phones, does the TMOUS 2.13 ROM work perfectly on European HD2s? Is it the best stock ROM option or are we safer sticking to the WWE 1.66 ROM?
Cheers
tmous roms work fine on regular leo. 2.13 isn't the latest, there's a 2.14 somewhere, and even a 3.something, i think, though i'm not sure whether that can be flashed as is or whether It's only for use in cooked roms, so be sure and read around.,
On my T8585 it doesn't work. I had tried many ROMs(TMOUS based and TMOUS stock) and with every single one phone is stuck(completely frozen - only battery removing or soft reset helps) on Launching HTC Sense. All that with 2.08 or 1.66 HSPL and 2.xx.50 radios. If I flash 2.xx.51 radio, phone is able to boot and start Sense but after receiving or making a call the phone is frozen again. But, with 2.xx.51 I can disable HTC Sense. Then I flash back .50 radio. Phone can then work with that radio without Sense but is very unstable and can be frozen at any time. Tried the same scenario with and withouth SD card - no difference.
Tried also latest test ROMs, 3.01 and 3.02 WWE, and 3.04 all watermarked. With any HSPL(1.66,1.43 or 2.08) in hardware information is stated 576MB of RAM, but on SD Card&Phone Storage Settings there is only about 200MB Total program(it should be 448MB). After flashing full test ROM(with new SPL 3.02 - flashed with gold card) memory settings are usual for any standard LEO regardless or flashed radio.
you, my friend, have a fault.
every day dozens(hundreds?) of people flash tmous based roms to regular hd2s with no issues. id start with a flash back to stock, maybe task29 too, if i were you.
i've had a regular leo since january and in all that time it has spent a total of maybe 5 days NOT running a tmous based rom with a tmous radio.
Hello Samsamuel
Tried that also but it doesn't help at all.
Stock ROMs works without a hitch but 576mb enabled ones is a bitter kind of fruit for my Leo. Also Android works but I have to add mem=352M in the set cmdline for full RAM kernel. I think something is wrong with my phones RAM memory. I've bout the phone on 4th of dec last year with 2years contract from VIP in Serbia. It was factory unlocked from the start. I don't have any information how other phones from VIP behave regarding RAM.
At the moment I am using Artemis 27 ROM with 1.66 HSPL and 2.12.50 radio and it's working fine - no major drawbacks.
What's the numbers on boot loader screen for ptouch and pled on your phone( on mine is 0x05 and 0x20)?

ahh well in that case it sounds like you may have a pre production model, and sorry but i dont want to advise you any more, since i have no knowledge of them, except that they dont seem to have the same ammount of RAM as the regular leo.
There is a user called xmoo who is very interested and knowledgable about test models, maybe he can tell you more (and indeed help you tell whether it IS a pre prod or not)
Ja sam imao slične probleme kada sam koristio "stari" HSPL2, pa sam stavio HSPL3 i sve radi savršeno. Moj HD2 je kupljen u HR VIPu isto je došao otključan.
Koristim KWBR 3.12 i Radio: 2.12.50.02_2. Ako si isprobao sve, onda nema druge nego prodaš svoj uređaj i nabaviš drugi... Može bit da je VIP poslao na srbsko tržište neke "čudne" verzije uređaja.
Hello,
Could somebody clarify my mind about differences between rom for European or T-Mobile HD2.
I will receive my HD2 T-Mobile within few days. How can I be sure not to brick it from start ?
I red somewhere that I have to use HSPL3 before flashing any ROM.
If I start with that does my phone protected from bad ROM, can I try every ROM I see or is there something minimum release or something else to take care before selecting ROM ?
If you think I'm out of context, please let me know or reply me using MP.

non tmous based cooked roms in themselves won't brick your device, but they won't work either, however non tmous stock roms contain radios that WILL permanently brick your device.you are currently posting in the regular hd2 section, go back to the site root and find the tmous specific hd2 section, and only get your roms from there.

Thank you for answer.
I know there is a specific section for T-Mobile HD2, but as you have probably seen, I'm Belgian and I'm looking for French ROM. Nobody report French version in the appropriate section because TMOUS is not sold in Europe.
May I ask you how I can know if a ROM includes radios or not ? Is there specific [] to tell me Yes or Not ?
Thanks.
P.S. This is my last message in that item so left place for Standard EU HD2 owner.
cooked roms will always say in the first few posts whether they are tmous compatible. i've not seen any cooked rom that includes a radio, but so long as you read the first posts, all the info will bethere. if in doubt, simply don't flash it, there are plenty to choose from.

It doesn't matter if your phone is a T-Mobile one or not. What does matter is if your phone is a USA T-Mobile. The specification: European model hass a 512MB ROM and 448MB RAM, the USA version has a 1GB ROM and 576MB RAM. Go to the 'Settings' tab, select 'About phone', select 'Hardware information'. There you will see the RAM and ROM information.
If you are flashing an HTC or mobile operators ROM then HSPL is not required. If you want to flash a custom ROM, then HSPL is required. No doubt, in the future you will at least want to try out a custom ROM, therefore it does little harm to flash HSPL to give you more flexability.

Great! Always usefull when you need to restore your device
Has anyone tested if any of these ROMs flash properly.. for me it would be the Dutchversion then... But I can not test right now can not have my phone broken down. Once Kaizer is out I am going to buy that one and then I could test, but would be nice to know if these dumped ROMs work
Unfortunately I do not know, I haven't even tested the UK version as I am not sure if it will work, however I did update the RUU.
Shame we cannot emulate the firmware install!
The T-Mob UK dumped ROM isn't quite right - the w'n'w home page doesn't work properly.
Minor thing but, one of the first things I tested
I dumped my friends ROM the other day. I'm currently working on building it and testing it - will let you know when it's done
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Hmmm...humble pie - lovely
Well, after flashing the ROM i dumped the other day, I had exactly the same thing with IE.
It took me about 3 seconds to realise it must be because the extROM had been flashed by one of the WM6 ROMs I had been using in the past.
As it turns out, this is the case so I can confirm that if you have the same issue, download the extROM dumo from the wiki (from this page) and delete the current contents of your extROM and copy the downloaded one back to it. Hard reset, and voila - everything back the way T-Mobile shipped (apart from Radio ROM, IPL\SPL etc...) but WTH ;-)

Trapper,
I assume you mean how can you put the correct Extended ROM onto your device? If I understand this correctly, the ROMs mentioned in Jygar's first post are the original main ROM but the Extended ROM is in fact from a Windows Mobile 6 ROM (I do not believe that flashing a ROM will affect the Extended ROM - the problem is that the re-flashed (downgraded) WM5 ROM is starting the Extended ROM installation after the basic OS install (as normal) but that Extended ROM is still a WM6 one.
The page that is linked to includes many Extended ROMs from many countries and devices - one of them an original T-Mobile ROM (here) and if you were to unlock/unhide and mount your Extended ROM you would be able to delete the incorrect (WM6) ones and then paste in these original Extended ROM files.
The Extended ROM files are executed during a hard reset after the OS has been installed - details of how this works are within this forum. I am not sure that you need to do a hard reset but it all depends on whether you stopped the device completing a normal (complete) install. After a hard reset the device will start to execute the Extended ROM files/.cabs and if you stop that with a soft reset as soon as it starts then the device will re-boot with a basic WM build (with no service provider fixes/updates/customisations/settings)
If this is all explaining what you already know then sorry but your question posted is rather open... Hope this helps
ExtROM.nb attached Just put it into an NBH and flash
@tony.wheeler - What was the original radio version of your Vario II? I'm in the process of creating a complete upgrade to restore UK MDA Vario II's to their 'out of the box' state with the original ROMs (IPL, SPL, MainSplash, SubSplash, OS, Radio ExtROM)
Phil
eek, think it was 1.03?
[edit]Have done a search it appears it is 1.05!
only problem is this is HTC_BOOT 0106 and most ppl are now patched to 0108 so I would have thought we cannot downgrade our radio rom.
TBH 1.43 is the best radio rom out and i cannot say a bad word against it. I have only eva updated my radio rom and since the radio update have not had a problem with the origional t-mob os.
Hehe, yeah i found out it was 1.05 as well. Oh well, I'll use 1.07 in my NBH. I now have a complete ROM backup (IPL, SPL, GSM, OS, MainSplash, SubSplash, ExtROM) to revert back to should anything ever happen which means I would need to claim on the warranty.

I keep loosing connection with the 1.50 that came with the WM6 test ROM, and also falling down to GSM even though I'm in a good 3G reception area.
Didn't seem to notice these problems before. I was running Radio 1.48 onto of the old radio.

I too am running with Radio 1.50, after a short-lived update to WM6. I have had no problems at all with 2g or 3g, steady as a rock.
hey mates
i've got two questions:
i know some things about hspl and so on
i know that you can revert everything back to stock by flashing a stock rom via sd card.
but now i'm wondering if you need to flash any of your stock roms (so for example 1.48, 1.66, 1.72, etc. if you have a htc phone) or do you need YOUR rom (which was originally installed on your phone, for example your phone was delivered with 1.48, so you need 1.48 to revert everything back to stock).
i'm wondering because mine is originally t-mobile branded. it came with 1.48 tmo ger to me..but this rom isnt out there, theres just the 1.72 t-mobile one.
so am i able to revert everything back to stock by flashing 1.72 t-mobile rom via sd card or do i need 1.48 (which isnt really out there)?
my second question is about radio:
i know that you need a .50 radio for enabling full ram and for running android.
i'm currently running the 1.48 stock rom (htc, not t-mobile). if i would like to have a .50 radio, do i need a new (maybe costum) rom, or will this radio work with the 1.48 rom?
thanks for help.

the 1,72 will be fine. so long as it is branded for your phone, it is fine.

must be a custom rom (or a tmous rom). Only roms that use a tmous base (nk.exe) in partnership with a ..50.. radio will unlock the ram.
thanks samsamuel
one maybe silly question: what if i would install a .50 radio with that rom? what the radio part of the phone be unusable? or would nothing change?
DN41
it comes with a 50 radio.
There is a thread HERE where someone says the tmous 2.15.50 and the wwe 2.15.50 radio are slightly different. Just gotta wait and see what people report.
If i had the time and inclination i would flash teh tmous 3.14 rom and radio, just to see whether it unlocks the 576.
since i've got HD2 i have been tryng lots of combinations for radio and rom
but nothing works fine.. poor signal, data keeps droping and changing a lot..
does anyone know what configuration is best to use with vodafone uk? (my sim card is new)
ROM:Artemis 41.0 WWE (02/11/2010)
RADIO: 2.12.50.02_2
2.08.hspl
thanks!!
hi Ch,
sorry but there is no such animal as 'the best.........etc'
depends on too many factors - most specifically - your location in UK.
i live near Axminster, Devon & have tried dozens of combi's.
currently (check sig) works for me - radio version 2.15.50.14 is miles ahead of all others (up here in the hills).
keep flashing - it will come right - promise. HD2 is a superb m/c.
I have to agree, Ive found 2.15 radio best so far battery not amazing but it more than makes up for it... other than that I am using 2.10 as in my sig.
Basically I have come to the conclusion that Vodafone sucks, its not the radio its F***ing Them! They used to be really good but I think their network is running on economy or something.
I'll be moving to O2 when my contract runs out.
@ osrix
+1 on that.
o2 is also coming my way soon.
edit: better change 1st part my sig. lol
Dude, I think your problem might be that you are using Artemis ROM v41 with HSPL2.08.
If you read the Artemis ROM thread, all versions after v37 (so v40, v41, v42) are built from the new SPL 3.14 base.
There are reported memory issues when using these later Artemis ROMs with HSPL2.08 and it is recommended to use the stock ROM 3.14 SPL.
Unfortunately if your phone is a Vodaphone, 02 or T-Mobile UK branded HD2 there is not a stock ROM v3.14 available yet. (no-one seems to know if they are planned).
If you read the Artemis thread you have a couple of options:
1.) Flash v40/v41/v42 using the Goldcard method to "rebrand" your phone to orange/HTC
2.) Use Artemis v37 which will work fine with HSPL2.08 (this is what I'm currently using & its working fine)
after a goldcard boot method running an official rom, phone stucks 0% on cooked
I got a gold card and have flashed an official leo 3.14 rom using the boot method pressing buttons..
but now, when I try to flash an artemis from gold card or usb the process gets stuck on 0%!!
now there..
spl 3.03........
(WWE) 3.14.405.2
Radio: 2.15.50.14
Manila: 2.5
vodafone uk - still
**android works fine with this official rom but i want other.. should i come back do 2.08 spl??thx
Hi Guys,
I am also with Vodafone UK, using their official Stock ROM 1.72 and having same/like problems you have indicated. I live in Manchester and even so don't have a decent signal at home. At least they gave me their Sure Signal unit to boost my home reception.
I was with O2 before moving to Vodafone (bcz they at had that time the best price plan for a free HD2 handset) and regret the day. O2 has a much better network and a fantastic Customers Service. I was lucky to be on one of the last 12 months contract Vodafone offered so in 3 months time I would be back with O2!
Hey everyone.
I read it on the wiki that flashing 1024mb Leo with 512mb Rom would certainly cause a brick, I also read those scary posts about phones dead even with HSPL flashed, so I ask a question: Is there something else you should NOT do besides what is written in RUU itself?
Is it possible to make some kind of tutorial "how not to brick HD2"
P.S. Sorry if it is already stated somewhere, but all I could find were posts about already bricked HD2s
Might sound like a stupid question for all advanced users, but i find its a very good question, because of course, bricking anything (unless its a real brick) is a real bummer!
So yeah, i was also wanting to know what NOT to do, and what things to avoid..
For example, i installed HSPL 3 with a 2.02SPL, people say i will have stability issues.. i didnt read about that in HSPL3 tutorial.. will those stabilioty issues possibly lead to a brick?
Also, installing HSPL 3 and then installing HSPL 2 will those things possibly brick an HD2? or to brick an HD2 you must really be doing crazy stuff, like
-flashing 1024 with 512 rom?
-flashing crazy custom & terribly cooked roms?
best advice I ever saw on here......
"Read Everything, Even If You Dont Understand It....... Then Read It Again"
this does not change anything, I read the stickies and flashing guides and still i could only find one definite how-to-brick: 1024 to 512 and vice versa
Anyone?
That was more of just a sort of general piece of advice.
Wasnt suggesting you need to do more reading...........
Its actually the radio that will brick the device.......
flashing a .51 radio to a tmous will brick it.
So .50 radios only. You'd probably be best to go for one above 2.08.50......
Most roms will reccomend a radio to use anyway.......
If you've read the stickys, got the right rom/radio/hspl and familiarised yourself with the process then theres not much that can go wrong.........
95% of the horror stories on here are down to people not doing their homework....
I dont understand this radio thingy... Why is it even changeable?
Who would want to tweak that (except cookers?) and why did they provide different radios?
How do i know, when i download a rom what radio is it? If i use always official roms, i have no risks, right? Can even stock roms have different radios?
Thx for answers!
Radio is a part of firmware (part of ROM if you please) that ensures the link between OS and radio (GSM, FM, BT, WIFI),I read somewhere that it somehow responsible for camera aswell...

Custom roms usually do not come bundled with a radio. The chef nearly always recommends a radio to use with the rom.....
Stock roms come with a radio, which is normally shown as part of the file name....
ie. RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
If your flashing a tmous with a stock rom you still have to make sure that it is a tmous rom........
Wow, thanks for those clear answers! Im starting to get it!
So.. say i download several roms:
ROM: 3.14.406.2 (on HTC website)
AND
RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.0¶
7U_2.06.51.07_Ship (found on internet)
AND
Original HTC NLD 1.48.404.2 2.05.51.05_2 15.28.50.07U
How do i know the radio of the first rom?
And how do i know that the Radios of the 2 other roms ( Radio_Signed_15.30.50.0 7U_2.06.51.07_ and the last RADIO 2.05.51.05_2) are compatible? Indeed, they are different, so how do i know if i can install them without bricking my device???
Thanks again, guys for ur help and time
I didn't completely understand what you just wrote , but i somehow feel that answer to your post is what i'm looking for also
The 3.14 Rom you downloaded from the HTC site already has a radio so you wont need to worry about compatibility........
Just so I'm clear on this, which type of HD2 do you have? tmous / Standard (european) HD2 / Australian (Telstra) HD2.......
Im assuming it asked for an s/n number when you downloaded 3.14??
If it did and yours worked then you have an unbranded handset and you can go ahead and flash that Rom.
If you've flashed before you will need to remove HSPL.........
If not then ignore that...........
So in simple terms, ONLY the radio that contains .51 will brick a T-Mobile US HD2 phone, but .50 will be fine. Usually all [ROM] in the Rom thread will tell you if it's T-Mobile Compatible or not. And most of them don't have a radio built into it anyways.
Every Rom you download from HTC will contain the ROM, and RADIO, so before loading you must make sure it is for HTC T-Mobile US not UK, which is usually stated before you download as you have to put in your SN number before you're able to download.

Hello,
Yesterday I came across an interesting ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=791303
Unfortunately, it's prepared for American HD2s. I asked the cooker if he could make a version for European HD2 but he says he hopes his rom works on both types of devices. I like this rom very much but I wouldn't like to brick my LEO. Can I flash it?
at your own risk ! I think it's not a good idea
tmous roms should work perfectly well on regular hd2. (how do you think the 576 ram gets unlocked on a regular hd2? tmous rom and radio) its only tmous users that cant use regular roms.
It's strange because european hd2 haven't 1024 of rom !
so? the tmous roms are only around teh same size (200 or so meg) as a regular rom, you dont flash the extra empty space, whatever is left just gets left as empty storage space.
Guys, thanks for your answers. I flashed the TMOUS ROM to EU HD2 with success. Everything works!
