Does any one know if I can download a virtual keyboard for HD2 which has a Ctrl button.
So that I can do Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V commands.

I know the default WinMo keyboards had the CTRL. Seems HTC in their wisdom removed the default WinMo keyboard, though it would be just about useless on the HD2 without stylus.
You might be able to try a 3rd party keyboard, i think Resco has one that looks like the default WinMo keyboard, but is skinned to look nicer
Edit:
http://pocketnow.com/review/rescos-keyboard-pro
I believe this is an older version though, the one currently on resco's site looks somewhat similar to the HTC Keyboard. Its possible the older style keyboard skins are still in there maybe? or just hunt around for the older version
you can modify keyboard definition files to assign Ctrl-C, X and V to chosen keys - check this thread, posts 37 and following
I went with rescos keyboard pro

I am trying to find a really good software keyboard for my hd2. one that is much smoother and faster than the hd2 made one. anybody have any ideas?
I've tried many: cliquick, finger keyboard, swype, slideit, resco keyboard, spb keyboard - each one has advantages - concerning type speed or available languages, or size of buttons etc. But I finally stayed at the default HTC keyboard with reduced screen sensitivity (through BsB tweaks) and I've used to type quite fast. It just takes some time and training especially if you've used to a resistive screen device.
Ye, default HTC kbd is good enough

default keyboard is so terribly innacurate, but I have found perfect solution which works for me, I can type faster with less mistakes, that's all I need

I am using first version "Edit Kb by boogiecornejo.cab" which is GTX theme, but there are already some updates, therefore introduction is a littlebit confused

if the stock keyboard is inaccurate it might be your screen...
OP, I prefer swype. Force yourself to use it for a couple of days and you won't go back.
best is the default keyboard, but try the registry edits/cab ...21,91 and 108 given in leo registry tweaks.thread (sticky)

There is nothing special with my screen, because when I am using Android it is without problems, and the same is with keyboard replacement, because touch area for the keys is redefined.
The problem here is just simple design of the default keyboard and hypersensitivity, so something from area such as WM touch drivers and HTC keyboard. But that's another story
Just started using Swype. The standard keyboard is OK, and way more responsive than my old HTC Touch HD. But man Swype is good. Can type messages and emails much faster than I normally can manage.
Just thought I'd mention it in case nobody has seen/heard of it.
Can find out more here - http://www.swype.com
Cheers

It really is the dogs cogs isn't it! I started off using SlideIT before they released Swype Beta.. didn't like swype at first.. but now I know how to use it.. I couldn't live without it!.. I was using it for ages before I realised that you can swype from the swype key to the "sym" key to bring up the direction and text editing keys...
Didn't know that about the text editing and direction keys. Cheers!

1GHz CPU, Android, capacitive screen vs 528MHz, WinMo6 and a resistive screen - no contest
Swype's pretty awesome but I personally settled on Ultra Keyboard because I was used to the half-qwerty from my Touch HD.
Ultra Keyboard combines the two as well as giving you control over the size of the keys and a whole load of other options.
Speaking of awesome and intuitive keyboards, does anyone know what happenned with Blind Type? I remember hearing something about google buying it up (i THINK i remember that, anyway) and had pressumed that maybe it would be incorporated into a future model of Android, probably 2.3. Now I'm running on 2.3 and have heard nothing of Blind Type since then, I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea?
Definitely the best keyboard i've tried so far is SwiftKey, even better and Swype (i have them both).
Another vote here for swiftkey, the predictive text (once it's trawled through your old texts and emails) is nothing short of amazing.
Although the way it can actually predict the next word after you finish the current one is a little scary/depressing. Am i really *that* predictable?
I had installed swype on my xperia arc and tried it out for sometime. I was not happy or rather felt that the original default kb was better. I uninstalled swype. There was a different keyboard then instead of the original gingerbread one. I had to then do a factory reset to get back the original kb

i never got used to swype i prefer standard Gingerbread keyboard. was upset it wasn't included with the arc, but you can find the apk here on xda
Or you can just download the Gingerbread keyboard from the market for free.
i bought swiftkey and tried it for a week but sadly it did not seem to predict very well for me.. swype is much faster for me, even if i'm just typing not swyping. i'm always hitting the wrong keys with swiftkey.
I use SlideIT now for a long time, it is personal of course, but for me its perfect.

Agree
I am on the latest beta for Swype and have to agree its pretty awesome! +1
Nice, thx!
I use ultra keyboard. Unfortunately it mixes up multitouch keystrokes (registers on key release). FlexT9 is also nice, and it does correct multitouch recognition plus excellent speech recognition (Dragon dictate)
But ultra has nicer option buttons right there in the prediction area, with inline translation, copy paste etc, and better correction after mistakes. Biggest gripe is the incomplete dictionary, no auto training/learning on email sms, bad capital recognition (problem in German mainly). Nevertheless, overall best keyboard so far that I came across.
SlideIT cannot do multitouch at all, bummer, otherwise very good as well.
My friend introduced me to the Swype but I was quite content with the existing ones. May try it later.
definitely recommend swype! ben using it since my X1i
Swyped from my LT15i-Arc
I'm looking for SWYPE for Xperia neo. Can anyone help please?

@ all
I would definitely recommend Swype to everyone. It's a no brainer! Why type when you can Swype?
And here are 7 Swype keyboard tips for better Swyping. It's definitely going to make your swyping experience better.
My only gripe with it is that I don't know how to insert a new line. All I see is a smiley button instead of the enter button.
EDIT: The smiley button is only there in the default messaging app. In other programs, it shows the enter key.
I've just started to use a jailbreak tweak for the iPad based on this concept video and it works very well:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGQTaHGQ04Q
Here's the actual tweak in action:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h2yrBK7MAY
I've used several different android keyboards but not come across this feature. If it already exists, please let me know.
My main Android keyboard is Touchpal and though I prefer Swiftkey's prediction engine, I always end up going back to Touchpal. Taping the cog icon in the centre of the top row replaces the keyboard with a dedicated selection pad/screen which allows for very granular selection but is a very slow method for selecting text.
A mod that could add the functionality in the video to the stock keyboard would be great. What would be awesome is if it also worked with all the main keyboards (Touchpal, Go Keyboard, Swiftkey, Swype etc.).
Thanks for looking.
Is.it. just. Me but typing on.the stock keyboard suck? The space.key is too small.so when I hit the space bar. It leaves.a period.after every word. . Also what the hell are all those arrow keys for? I've gotten used to not needing a physical keyboard but with this phone I've taken a step back.
The arrows are for navigating the cursor within a block of text. For example, you need to correct the spelling of an email address, website url, etc and you don't want to backspace the entire word. With ICS it's a lot easier to tap and drag to where you want the cursor, but the arrow keys are there as an alternative. They were helpful back when the OG EVO released; now, not so much. As for the periods, are you sure you aren't double-tapping the space bar? Double-tapping on many keyboards will add the period for you.
I love HTC keyboards. So responsive and just the right size. And actually, as I'm typing right now on xda app, I don't see the arrow keys though I know they are there.

I specifically sought out, and installed, the stock ICS keyboard to use on this handset. I hated the HTC keyboard, and none of the others I have really endeared me either. ICS's keyboard has improved on prior versions immensely.

It's crazy to me that you find the stock keyboard enjoyable. It kills me.
I recommend SwiftKey X (in the market, not free) or the SwiftKey 3 beta (register for their VIP forums for a DL link, free, but beta).
+1 for swiftkey x....i bought it earlier this year and love it....money well spent

I tried to enjoy the stock keyboard but today I gave up on it, which is sad cause I liked the stock keyboard on my 3D. I'm using SlideIT keyboard for now.
I like to use the HTC IME and Swiftkey X and my absolute favorite is Thumb Keyboard, reason being is that you can change the size of the buttons and layout so you can have a large or small spacebar or w/e
Hey,
does someone knows an alternative to swipeselection for android and with german keyboard layout???
also for thisr how dont know, swipeselection is a cydia tweak for ios devives, it allows to move the cursor over swiping with one finger over the keyboard, if u swipe right the cursor goes right if left tgen left.
this tweak is good when you misstype and u dont want to tip the position where u want the cursor should be!!
ive loaded swipeselection from playsrore but i dont like it, and ive tried the app "tyype" but its also rubbish and in english, last but not least ive tried flat keyboard and its the best, but sadly it has no german layout
do you know any other swipe selection keyboards??
Swype
SwiftKey
Fleksy
TouchPal
Stock AOSP keyboard
All of those have swipe functionality and support German. I don't use German though, so can't say how well they work. My personal preference in English anyway is SwiftKey.
Ya
All the above work well
I use TouchPal though
Press thanks :good: if I've helped :highfive:

Port xperia z1s keyboard
Gesendet von meinem Xperia SP
Just found out about this awesome iOS Cydia tweak. This sounds amazing. Is there really no Android equivalent of this?
That is disappointing.
I found some:
SwipeSelection Keyboard
This one looked interesting at first, but then I discovered that its layout was poor for quick typing.
tyype
This one a little bit different, it has a bottom bar for swiping but to select text rather than moving the cursor. The bar can be used to prevent accidentally pressing the capacitive button for some devices, not so useful for me.
Quick Keyboard Việt also supports swipe selection, it's good
The popular "Multiling Keyboard" handles this a bit differently, it employs an anternative way which use vol buttons for moving back and forth. The plus is supporting all languages.
I made an account just so I could post this info for anybody interested. On my Galaxy S5, you can go into the settings for the default Samsung keyboard, and change the swipe settings from "Swiftkey Flow" (swype-style swiping) to "Cursor Control" which allows you to swipe across the keyboard to control the cursor like in the swipe selection tweak. As far as I can tell, the only functionality is to move the cursor, you can't select text like in the iOS tweak. It's not as smooth, but it at least allows you to still maintain all the functionality of the default keyboard while adding an ability to move the cursor.
This feature may only be available on the Galaxy S5, I'm not sure if it's available on the SwiftKey keyboard (which the samsung keyboard is based on).
This was helpful. Thanks. The original swipeselection is quit better than the iphone version.!
