Windows Mobile 6.1 Clean ROM (dev) - Ported from Windows Mobile 6.1 Localized Emulator Image (USA version). This version of WM6.1 is based on my Clean WM6. The main reason I cooked this ROM was to learn how to relocate nk.exe and resize the XIP. As you can see, it worked!
English-only xT9 (dated Sep 7, 2007)
Esmertec Java
Cyberon Voice Dial
SecurityOff (required, because some apps can't install with it on)
Known Bugs
Possible xT9 can't backspace on some websites bug.
Encryption in Security can't be set (in settings menu).
Prerequisites
Your device must be CID unlocked! See this thread.
Please report any bugs with a detailed explanation of how to reproduce them.
Change Log
Apr 5, 2008 - Changed core OS to a SYS dump from the Windows Mobile 6.1 Emulator Image because it is a complete USA ROM with the proper WM6.1 Bluetooth stack, PhoneIME, SimTkit, etc. Fixed wireless settings on home screen goes to Comm Manager.
Mar 27, 2008 - Updated to Moto Q8 core 1.07.24R, XIP rebuilt and resized, WM6.1 gets its own thread.
Mar 8, 2008 - xT9 and Bluetooth fixed.

Does it have Office 6?
I thik this will be another great rom, Thanks.
Only neo is missing(I like it more). Can you make a version included neo? This will be very nice.
Thanks again!

Who needs NEO now that there is a built in WM6 sliding homescreen, it looks just like NEO and I actually like it better! Is there something that I'm missing about NEO that makes it so great?
GnatGoSplat, good job
xT9 Settings
After much research, I still can't believe that I am the only one that this is bothering! There is no way in either GnatGoSplat or Erofich's ROM to access the xT9 Settings. I type relatively fast and the xt9 keeps missing words because of the fact that it's trying to do word completion and next word prediction. I wish I could just turn these off. If anyone has in their \Windows directory a file called xt9settings.exe, please upload it for others to make use of it. I even tried copying the registry settings for these 2 options from an old WM5 device, and it still did not work. I'm pulling my hair out!
Alternatively, if there is any way to get rid of xT9 and have only the old regular T9 in this ROM, please let me know how to do it. I really want to upgrade my ROM to WM6, but unfortunately this is a massive deal breaker. I live on texting and e-mailing, and with the way it is now, it's simply unbearable.
Thanks in advance for your help - either GnatGoSplat or Erofich - or anyone else out there.
The problem with the xT9 is the device I got this from (S730) didn't have xT9Settings.exe. I think Erofich is using the same version (or close) as well which is probably why his ROMs don't have it.
I have xT9Settings.exe from the Shadow, but the Shadow version of xT9 is completely different - it is more like the xT9 used on the Touch and Touch Cruise for a 5x4 keypad. I don't know how to adapt that xT9 for the 12-key keypad, however, I can extract its xT9Settings.exe for you to try if you'd like.
No, no Office in this ROM. It's a clean ROM that is hopefully storage-friendly for 64MB devices.
When WM6.1 is officially released from HTC, then I'll convert all my WM6's over to WM6.1.

Thanks for looking into this for me. I guess it's worth a try to run the xt9settings.exe file even though it was made for the touch. You never know. It could be the same registry settings that get changed when you disable word completion and prediction. It may work.
Here's another question, is there any way to extract the xT9 files (or however you do it) from a device that does support the xt9 settings, and supports disabling the word completion/prediction? Or, is there any way to remove xt9 altogether (since from what I can tell, many people don't like it) and instead cook in the regular T9 from WM5 into this ROM?
Ok, I'll make a CAB for xT9Settings tonight.
I did try it out and didn't notice the xT9 acting any differently when checking/unchecking the checkboxes, but I don't use it that much so I really couldn't say for sure whether it had any effect or not. If you can step me through what each setting does and how to tell whether the setting change worked or not, I can try it out before bothering to make a cab for it.
Yes, if you let me know which device has working xT9Settings, I could probably extract it.
xT9 can be removed and old T9 added in, but that's what I had originally and got overwhelming response to switch to xT9.
T9 and xT9 are from the same company, Tegic. They've abandoned T9 and xT9 is their current product. I think a lot of people are using the "newer is better" mentality, although I seldom used either so I have no opinion either way.
IS there anything different with this new posting of v6.1 from when you originally posted it in the v6 thread?
A little... it's a newer build with XIP completely redone (resized and complete with ALL WM6.1 XIP modules). Default font is also Segoe. Other than that, not much difference.
Sorry for my bad english!

Start typing the word "there" for example, if after you type "the" it pops up with suggestions like "there" and "they" etc, then the "Word Completion" feature being unchecked did not work. Or try typing "hey there hey" and if the word "there" shows up underlined after the second "hey", then the "Prediction" feature being disabled didn't work. Either way, I would appreciate if you could send me the xt9settings.exe file or a cab so I can try it for myself.

Apparantly the HTC Shadow has it. I've found on forums people referencing it.

Is there any way to make a cab file that will replace xT9 with T9 or vice versa?
Thanks again so much for taking the time to help me with this.
Alright quick (probably simple) question but i cant find the answer to it anywhere. Im trying to cook a Rom for a friend and i have never baked touchflo into a Rom but he wants it. I asked him if he wants the whole cube thing and he told me that he wanted to simply be able to drag his finger up or down to scroll (like the kaiser does). So now my real question is whether this is a part of touchflo or not. Either way I dont care, if i have to install the whole cube package and then disable the cube via reg edits, i can, but i would rather there just be an OEM that lets me do the scrolling. Anyone have any insight to this matter? I have quite a few different OEM packs from around the internet and i have countless OEMs of touchflo. Hope someone knows something about this. Thanks in advance, guys!

Do a forum search for "touchflo"......... The VERY FIRST hit by efrost points in HUGE RED LETTERS to what your friend wants.............................
i appreciate your help (and/or bitterness towards my question.) but lo, i have another. does anyone know where an oem can be downloaded of this touch application by efrost or should i create my own using the cab? either way works, one is just easier
I guess what i am really trying to ask is what is touch flo considered generally? is it the cube or just the scrolling? how is it defined by this community?
touchflo is a cab. cube is separate application. but u need touchflo in order to use cubes.
Hi All,
im really tempted to jump and replace my ELF with a HERO. ( i know newbie style question coming up and i apologise but i HAVE looked before i asked lol )
ok, i use text editing lots on my ELF, i make notes in word etc and is there something i can use that it compatible with the HERO that i can make text notes on and save and refer to at a later point ??
( yes i know quick office reads mobile office but i need an editor more really. something i can create. it doesnt have to read mobile office , just make notes )
any ideas ???
cheers
AndyG
There are plenty of "notepad" type apps on the Market for free, but the paid app DocumentsToGo offers a full "office" type experience (i.e. read and writes Word and Excel files).
Regards,
Dave
I made the switch from a Elfin to the Hero and I can't ever go back. The hero is an amazing device.
Well i jumped... its an amazing device from my first impressions...( but im sure as i get questions i will be buggging ppl lol )
I made the same jump...
Yes, from Elfin (onyx 4.x) to hero..
I'm very satisfyed, even if I did not put my sim into hero, yet
Does anybody knows if I can copy all my stuff (messages, contacts and appointments) from WM 6.1 to hero? Something like pimbackup, or other methods...
It would be great!
I thank you all
First off sorry for the noob question.
I've been all over these fourms, google and Wiki.
So far what I know is that the Manila is a code name Touchflow 3D and that Sense is based off of it.
So heres the question: I have a htc HD2 Leo, when I go to software info on my phone it says its manila 2.5.20121412.2 but when my phone boots up it says launching sense and I've been seeing all these great apps and mods for sense 2.5 that I want but I don't know if I have sense or something else.
So I need to know if sense just goes by manila or if I need to load sense on to my phone first.
Any input would be great
Thanks
two names for the same thing.

Thank you.
no worries. i "think" technically speaking that manila is the family name, whilst sense is the version, in that touchflo is manila, but sense isn't touchflo, a bit like "windows" and "xp, vista, 98" but people use both.

I see that make "sense"
I have been looking around a lot to find an application that lets me know how much I have left on my monthly "data" (for the HTC HD2)
I mean, I have 250mb per month I can use and I would like to keep an eye out on how much I use so I dont go over it.
Hope someone knows an application that can show me that!
Thanks in advance!
There has to be something!
Yes there is something
If you are able to read German look here:
http://www.handy-faq.de/forum/htc_h...chkeit_kostenkontrolle_verbrauchszaehler.html
If not in rough words a explanation:
make a new tab in sense
Manila Today Page (MTP)
run as a todayscreen plugin
Homescreen ++
voila
it looks on my hd2 like attached this:
I read something that i need a german language thing?
Wont I be able to use it in english?
hmmmm
good question ...
I can only say "no" because I do not have HS++ in German. Mine is running in English.

would be nice to have that as a CHT 2.0 widget
im looking for something like this too! bookmarking for future use
Homescreen++ is in english. The themes are pretty easy to write and modify. Here's the homepage (there are even some very nice manual).
Coupled with Mortscript one can reproduce most of Sense features at a fraction of the resources. Unfortunately HS++ never got the deserved attention (mostly because of OEM software hacking and piracy) and development is halted...
