As long as I've owned my phone (~ 1 month), my notification vibrate has been great. If it was on a hard table, it was loud enough to scare the crap out of me, but more importantly, I could easily feel it in my pocket. Recently, apparently after turning off the notification vibrate for a little while (so that I could leave it on a table without jumping), the vibration intensity is extremely weak. I makes a small buzz on a table, and I can't even begin to feel it in my pocket unless the screen is facing out (which sounds like a great way to get a cracked screen).
Changing the vibration intensity under the settings only changes the haptic feedback intensity, not the notification intensity. I can't find a setting for that anywhere - has anyone else had this problem? Anyone know the solution?
apparently (from what i've gathered) the haptic feedback intensity controls the vibration intensity for the ENTIRE phone. So make sure your intensity is all the way up before you turn off haptic feedback otherwise your vibration will be extremely weak.
I saw that looking through old threads. I usually have haptic feedback on and the intensity set at about halfway, but maxing it has no effect on notifications.
One other note - it seems that my incoming call vibration is strong. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure if it had dropped and is now back to where it was, or if it stayed at the same level while my notification level dropped.
Opposite Effect
Anyone confirm this or is there some other way to adjust the global vibration? Mine is way too strong and rattles the volume buttons on my phone. My girlfriend and her two daughters also have Vibrants and I've compared mine with all of theirs. Mine is extremely intense. My girlfriend joked about borrowing it for a while.
Anyone know of anything I can do? A service menu or something? I've been searching and this thread is the best I could find.

Hi
I'm using SG2 on KF3 india stock firmware
I noticed a weird bug,
When vibration is set to always on mode, and Motion controls (Turn over) are set to On, when the phone is place on flat surface like sofa, bed, pillow or anyother flat surface, there is no sound or vibration for incoming call and messages.
if at all that comes, vibration or sound is coming only for 1-2 sec, then phone goes to silent
This happeing with Vibration only in silent mode also, once in a while its completely vibrating ,other wise phone vibrating for two times then going to silent mode
When Turn Over setting in Motion is disabled, then its completely fine,
is this normal with Turn Over feature, If yes, then i'm done with motion controls
Its so annoying for me,as i need vibration always, coz when phone is trouser pocket, ringtone is not audible,so i need vibration to know for sms and incoming calls, in this case, when phone is on sofa or bed,i'm completely blindfolded about my calls and sms as there is no ringtone
anyway to get this over?
Any one else faced this issue?
No, I do not have this problem.
I have also both turned on - vibration and motion controls.
Do you have tested the turn over in settings - motion controls - turn over?
And do you already tried to calibrate sensors?
In settings - display - horizontal calibration and gyro-sensor calibration.
If this does not help, you really should set priority and use silent mode.
Same here
I've the same issue..
Im on xxkh3 right now. I've tried calibrating and also Ive tested several different versions of firmware. Nothing changed.
It's quite annoying, knowing that only some of us have this, makes it worse. Maybe it is a hadrware defect??
Edit : BTW, there is already a thread for this :

I know if rhymes well. Anyone know how to decrease the duration of the vibration during notifications? Sounds like a truck passing by if phone is sitting on a hard surface and a notification comes in. I just want a short buzz, not something that threatens my glassware.
Settings > Sound > Vibration intensity.
It wont change the duration, but it won't be as intense. I'm not sure how you can chage the duration on stock, sorry.

Hellyeah.. vibration duration is very very annoying. I just came from CM7 to UnNamed and the long vibration on notification is REALLY annoying.
Ive just got a samsung galaxy s 2, my question is has anyone else noticed that the vibration is really strong so much so that it creates another sound from the phone?

Yes, at least for me, the phone turns into a pneumatic hammer when it vibrates... phone goes for repair :/
Oh yours sounds more serious i guess. It jus sounds as if the vibration is major strong. Like the sound is vibrating against the back panel or something i guess. Wondering if its just a characteristic when thd intensith is high. Ive lowered the intensity and downloaded a vibration app which together eliminate the problem

This is usually not a harware fault, but the way the software was created.
In some ROMs you can go to settings>sound and change the intensity of the harptic feadback or just disable it completely.
the vibration on this particular phone is new to me, i dont get any back panel vibrations in the haptic feedback setting, but when i use rotary lockscreen and move the rotary slowly to put it on silent mode it makes a strong vibration and makes a distorted humming sound.
Yea thats right repub, using the haptic feedback is nice but when you lower the volume to vibrate mode or use a toggle switch wudget to vibrate mode theres like a vibrate noise aswell as sonethibg else right? This is the noise of how strong the vibration is i think bouncing off the back panel or battery etc

Would anybody happen to know how to lower the vibration intensity in CM9? It's kind of odd, but whenever the vibration is on, it's so loud that it rattles something up near the earpiece and it's just annoying when it's at it's highest setting. I've recently been using ROM's such as Alliance and Padawan and they both had a setting for Vibration Intensity in the settings and you were able to slide them to your desired intensity. But now that I switched to CM9 I kind of miss that feature. Lowering the intensity about 2 levels using the slider was perfect for me because it didn't vibrate loud enough to cause the phone to rattle.
Is there a way to edit the intensity settings for vibration in CM9? Perhaps through the build.prop or some other method? Thank you to whoever replies.
I was wondering if anyone had the same problem or knows of a solution. Is there a way to control, through settings or an app you can download, the vibration intensity for notifications and calls. I've noticed at work that if I have my phone on my desk or pocket that the vibration is clearly audible and noticeable by people around me.
I've tried Vibe but it seems to only be for calls and focuses on vibration pattern.
I'm running HOX+ stock and unrooted.
