EDIT: first problem solved, so need to figure out if deleting the first email address from the phone will automatically give me the option to sync calender with the other gmail address
EDIT 2: tried deleting old gmail address so that I would only have the new one on the phone. it wont let me delete the old gmail address without doing a factory reset. I dont want to do a factory reset, so anyone know how to either delete the old gmail address, or be able to sync the calendar from new gmail address as described below?
Need help with 2 things:
First:
So I have 2 gmail accounts. One ive had ever since i got first android phone a year ago. 90% of my contacts are synced with this email address and phone, problem is that I dont really use this email address anymore. the other I created a couple of months ago and primarly use, but only a few contacts are synced with this email address.
So, how do I transfer all my contacts to the 2nd gmail address so I can get rid of the first? I have tried in gmail, but I must be doing something wrong...
Second:
This is kind of related to the first. I want to use my google calander for the second gmail address I have. but when i go into accounts and sync, it only gives me the choice to sync the calander from the first/old gmail address. There is not option to sync calander with the newer gmail address I really use. So either how do I sync the second gmail address, or per first question above, how do i transfer contacts from old to new gmail so i can delete the old account off of my phone, as im assuming if the newer gmail address is the only one on my phone it will give me the option to sync calendar????

You can export all contacts as CVS I think - from google mail (from your PC) ...
and then Import the CVS file you created on the second gmail

I cannot get my gmail acct to add the new contacts I put in my phone. Say I add 10 new numbers and contacts then sync with my gmail acct. Flash a new Rom after clearing all data then resign into my gmail acct. none of the contacts are there. This has happened to me several times and have lost some very important numbers in the process.
Anybody else having issues with google sync, or know another method to keeping all my contacts without having to write them all down and install them manually?

Sounds like you are adding them to the phone account instead of your google account.

I have multiple gmail accounts that I use on my Atrix. Only one of the accounts, however, is my "primary" account where I have all my contacts set up properly, the others I really just use for email. For some reason, one of my additional gmail accounts had contacts sync activated and I want to remove JUST the contacts from that sync account. Would removing the sync account delete all the contacts (and other PIM data associated with that sync account) from my phone? I can always re-add the gmail account and make sure that only the email syncs.

Try tapping the the accounts icon in the main app screen....it'll list all your accounts....then tap on the account you want to modify...then uncheck everything you don't want it to sync.
I did that already as soon as I discovered those contacts, but they're still there...which is why i'm wondering if removing the account altogether will remove it's PIM data...
I think you have to manually delete them. I wanted to do this but having two accounts just kind of borks it and you have to live with it. It really isn't that big a deal. I mean you do have a backup account in case somebody hacks it or the server is down for one email account.

There is an app in the market called "Contact Remover Plus" that will do just what you need. It's not free, but it works great. I had the same issue. It will allow you to remove contacts from only one account and also allows you to transfer them from one account to another.
I just got my View and set it up similiar to my Evo Shift with three email accounts..two exchange and one gmail. On the Shift I was able to select which Google components to sync (mail, contacts, calendar). Since I have almost 1000 contacts in one Exchange account I want that to be the only one I sync. I only use Google as a backup for contacts and don't use the calandra. I only need to sync mail. It appears that the View doesn't give me a option to select or unselect which Google components I want to sync and automatically sync'd the Google Contacts and mail and calendar. What did I miss? Anyone else notice this?
Root and delete the google contact sync adaptor apk (I think that's the name...it's been a while since I deleted it). You can also delete the google calendar sync adaptor apk and that will remove the sync options.

The instructions above give you the server settings to just set gmail up as an IMAP server in an email client. I am not sure how exactly it works on the view, but you should be able to set up these server settings manually in the mail client.
Could anybody say what is happening with the GMail account. I have my contacts in Outlook and synced them with my phone, then added the gmail account. After deleting gmail account from accounts in settings all my contacts are gone. What the ...???
A also noticed that when I have an existing gmail account I cannot set individual ringtone to a contact. When it's gone everything works. Anyway I don't want this gmail to sync everything, especially my contacts. Does anybody know why the hell on earth this crap is going on? Why can't I just use my contacts without gmail sync and other strange effects.

Yes happened with me too.
Totally idiotic.
And the worst part?
When I synced back the Google account... The contacts didn't come back properly.
All messed up and duplicates.
Idiotic.
Luckily I had taken a backup few days back and deleted all contacts and restored the backup.
I have totally disabled my contacts sync up with Google.

The only way that helped me is to sync my contacts with my outlook without creating gmail account, then set up all personal contact ringtones and only after that create gmail account in the phone without sync options.
First up: I do not want to sync my contacts with Google.
For an unknown reason my mobile keeps synchronizing my personal address book with Google. Even worse: Somehow I get a lot of crap contacts, even empty or just with an email. Most of my contacts are 2-3 times in my address book and I have no idea where to look for the problem.
I changed /Settings/Accounts/Google Account #1 & #2/ > untick "Contacts", when I first set up my system (SlimROM 9.0).
Usually I sync my address book manually using MyPhoneExplorer. I have Xposed/Xprivacy installed to block many apps from reading my contacts. Hangouts is installed but since its a Google app I presume, that it accepts my setting to not sync contacts plus I didn't find any settings in the app.
I checked Gmail-Accounts online and unticked the "Automatically add contacts to address book when answering an email", after I first saw that something went wrong. All my contacts where online but only in one account. I deleted all contacts from Gmail online and from my phone, checked all settings again and copied over my contacts with MyPhoneExplorer.
After a while all crap contacs where back and synced with Gmail online.
What should I do to prevend this from happening, ignoring the fact that now it wouldn't REALLY matter anymore since Google got what I didn't want them to get: Personal information about my friends and colleagues who didn't agree to that?
