[Q] Market Apps won't download - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm not sure what's going on with the android market, but no apps will download anymore for me. It gets stuck on 'starting download' and the progress bar just sits there and doesn't move. I didn't notice it until I started trying to flash some ROMs but even when I have flashed back to my nandroid backup it still doesn't work.
Things I've tried...
Clearning Market Cache
Force Quiting Market
Rebooting
Clearing phone cache
Still no luck...anyone have a solution for me? Thanks

If you are rooted I would use Rom Manager and Fix Permissions. I've had a few apps that wouldn't update nor download.

Thanks...I am rooted and I just tried that...NO LUCK Somebody please help me out, this is really irritating me!

Snap...I think I figured out what is wrong. I might have deleted (somehow) the actual Market App. I have the Icon on my homescreen that connects, but when I go to Manage Applications, I only see the Market Update App. Does this make sense, is this possible?

Simple fix. Just log onto google talk. It should work after you log in. dont know why, but it just does.

Another fix
1. go to your settings
2. select "applications"
3. then select "manage applications"
4. press menu and select "filter" then "All"
5. scroll down to:
a) "Checkin Service" then select "clear data"
b) "Download Manager" then select "clear data"
c) "Google Apps" then "clear data"
d) "Google Talk Service" then select "clear data"
e) " Market" then select "clear cache"

Thanks guys...I'll note your advise. I just installed a new ROM and the new market app came with it, so all is good right now.

I've had the same issue.
Igor's solution is right. More specifically its the Download Manager.
Clear Data and re-attempt download, it should go through.

I've had the same problem, but only at the office and then only if I am connected to the WiFi network here.
I also tried using "Connectify" on my laptop, but since the laptop is tied to the corporate network, the problem happens there too...
Most likely the problem is that our network nazis block ports required.
Turning off WiFi fixes the problem here.

I have the exact same problem just as the OP. When I try to update or download apps, it says invalid package and fails to install. When I try to update a file, it deletes the original and fails to install anything.
I did all this and still, it won't work:
1. go to your settings
2. select "applications"
3. then select "manage applications"
4. press menu and select "filter" then "All"
5. scroll down to:
a) "Checkin Service" then select "clear data"
b) "Download Manager" then select "clear data"
c) "Google Apps" then "clear data"
d) "Google Talk Service" then select "clear data"
e) " Market" then select "clear cache"
I can only install apps/games if I download it from another source other than the Android Market.

---------tried this already, but gave it another shot. did not work. also if it means anything when i got to the "google apps" there was no option to clear date, only to clear cache. which was already cleared.
I wish they would just fix the Market. It has been broken for years.

Did you also try the logout/Login in Google Talk step along with these?
Are you using the 2.2 Market?
From Android Central:
The fix for that is pretty easy, though. Go to Menu, Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, Market, Uninstall Updates. The next time you go to the Market, it's the standard Eclair Market. You'll have to agree to the Android Market terms of use, blah blah blah, but it will clear all the stuck status bars.
Of course, after about 10 minutes the Market is updated to the Froyo version... and the issue will happen again... and again...

Market Downloads hanging

DL09 sc rom (cannot upgrade to eb01 because of Heytell not working), but nothing in the market will download. It says downloading, but nothing happens.
If you haven't already, try going to Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> All and clearing data and cache on the Market app. Then try again.

Thanks! I will try that. I did notice that I am missing Google Services Framework? Where did it go? Weird. How do I re-install it without having to reset data?
Not sure if this will help you or not, but I have a similar problem (still on DI01) every week and this seems to help me when I'm having this issue. Some of these may not be necessary, but I'm really not sure what's applicable and what isn't (if anything).
1. Open Settings.
2. Select Applications.
3. Select Manage Applications.
4. Select Market (You may have to press Menu > Filter > All to see it)
5. Select Clear cache.
6. Back out of the screen and select Download Manager.
7. Select Clear data.
8. Also clear data for Google Apps, Google Talk (both Service & Storage) and Checkin Service.

Thanks for the help. It's my daughter's phone and she is out of state and she has a Mac so trying to fix this has been a challenge. Hopefully your steps will fix it.
This has been resolved. It must have been something in the theme. I had my daughter re-flash the DL09 super clean rom and all is well. Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Google Partner Setup error on boot (?)

After flashing to TNT Lite 4.20 I now have to clear an error message every time I boot my G Tab. It says "Sorry! The application Google Partner Setup (process.com.google..android.partnership) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
A Force Close is required to clear it, or else it messes with email (and maybe other stuff).
Questions:
- I've located this in /system/app using iFileManager and it's an apk file ... can it be safely deleted?
- How do I delete it? I'm not familiar with iFilemanager, and don't see a "delete" option. Can I delete it with CWD or Titanium Backup?
Thanks!

I know this has come up before, but all I find is other people asking my same question:
Can I safely delete the Google Partner Setup apk from my system/app folder?
It's not loading (requires a FC for the tablet to boot), but I'm still reluctant to remove anything from the system directory in case it's required somehow.
Help???

Google Partner Setup is used (at least) by the browser. You could try disabling it using Autorun Manager from Market instead of deleting the .apk file. Be warned that doing so on my system caused the browser to exit without warnings on quite few sites--those that have Google Ads are esp. problemmatic.
My advice is to first go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > select "All", find "Google Partner Setup" and then "Clear data". If that doesn't work, get into ClockworkMod and there do a "wipe data/factory reset" (and also possibly a "wipe cache partition").
Thanks Raj. I'll give it a try.

Solution if anyone has the problem
Troubleshooting Download Issues
Download stuck at “Starting download...”
If your application has stalled at "Starting download", please use the following troubleshooting steps to help complete your download:
Confirm that your device is on the list of supported devices, which means it's supported for use with Android Market. If your device is not on this list, please contact your manufacturer with questions.
For paid applications, confirm your credit card information is up to date by signing in to your Google Wallet account.
Cancel and restart the download.
Restart your phone, then try downloading the app again.
Confirm there is connectivity to either wireless or cellular networks on your device, and contact your mobile service provider if you aren't connected.
Try your download(s) using both wireless and cellular network connections, and ensure firewalls aren’t blocking access to ports required for Android Market (TCP and UDP 5228).
Make sure you've cleared the cache and data of both the Market app and the Download manager. Here's how:
Visit Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications
Tab over to "All"
Select the Market app, and then tap "Clear data" and "Clear cache;" then, select Download manager and tap "Clear data" and "Clear cache"
You must be able to successfully sign into Google Talk to download apps from Android Market. Make sure your device is signed into Google Talk by following these steps:
Go to your phone’s app launcher, and press the Talk app.
If you’re already signed into Talk, press Menu, and then touch Sign out.
Launch Talk again to sign in.

[Q] Google Play stuck 'downloading' help?

I have just installed Android Revolution HD 14.0 but I cannot download any apps from Google Play.
The status bar just stays at "downloading". I have cleared data and cache. My google play is version 3.9.16. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any suggestions of a fix would be very much appreciated.

There are some further steps that should resolve the issue you are seeing, as market is also tied into some of the other Google applications:
After step 6 above do the following:
1. Also find applications 'Google Services Framework' and 'Google Play Services'.
2. Force close and clear data for both of these applications.
3. Go into your Google account and disable all the sync options so nothing is ticked.
4. Reboot your device now, do not run any of the applications.
5. Re-enable all your sync options under your google account
6. Re-Boot again, now you can go and try the Play store.
This should resolve both issues mentioned in this thread. It has happened to me on numerous occasion and this has resolved.
Worth a not if you have any of the other play store, Books, Movies, Magazines then it's worth deleting or completing above steps for these too.
Hope this helps.

I'm not able to receive video call on Whatsapp. So, I uninstall it from my device, and when I try to install it, it stuck at downloading. I cleaned the cache and data of play store but still, it is not downloading the app but every time shows that it is downloading the app, but in reality, it does not. Can you please suggest some more ways to fix this problem.

3 things to try.
1, reinstall play store app and services via apk from Apkmirror.com.
2, delete and reinstall your Google profile.
3, wait until later as it is most likely an issue with Google servers.
I have another problem with Google Apps.
After flashing any nougat based custom ROM, and then after installing OpenGapps arm 7.1 my phone stuck with a problem that Google services was stopped.
Try a different version of gapps.
