I was wondering if t-mobile offers some kind of service for people like me who have t-mobile phones that weren't necessarily purchased by the person bringing it in or bought and activated with them...like if I could pay some sort of extra fee for them to accept my defective "hardware locked" phone for a replacement? Lmk, thanks!
Oh and just to make sure whoever's reading this post understands my predicament; I bought a vibrant off someone from CL, rooted and flashed the robotix1.1w/oc rom, decided I didn't like it so I nandroid restored to a previous stock/root backup and while it was rebooting or doing the backup (I can't remember) the phone just hangs on the vibrant/samsung screen and won't turn off unless I pull the battery. Any help would be appreciated, thanks again!

Nope. I can't get into downloader or recovery on it. I've tried literally every method, I've even followed yours to a T in the other couple "hardware locked" vibrant threads but to no avail.
I just noticed that when I plug my phone into a computer, both the internal memory drive and the sd card pop up as drives but both are labeled unknown and seem to be corrupted....

That's because you're not able to push the "Mount USB" button.
It doesn't hurt to ask T-Mobile to replace it. It helps if you're paying for the $6/month warranty.
Yeah, that's what I thought. Damn well I don't think I have that warranty option added on my plan...I hope they replace it.
Should I try to sell it, turn it in, or should I just wait, hold on to it and hope someone figures out some sort or fix?
Try and get it replaced before worrying about it.
I've heard plenty of stories about people getting their phones serviced by the carrier even though they were bought on eBay or whatever.

Thanks for the flame..but did you even read my entire OP? I clearly stated I bought the phone off someone from CL and the reason for my post in the first place was to find out if T-mobile would allow me to swap phones if I paid an extra servicing fee or something.
Of course I wouldn't expect to walk into the store, demand a new phone because mine doesn't work and then get one. I just don't have the extra couple hundred dollars to "buy another one and leave it alone" sorry I'm not rich like you.
If you're not gunna help me out, why don't you just NOT REPLY and leave ME alone.
tmobile exchanged a vibrant i bought off cl, i told them that the youtube app was causing the phone to soft reset everytime I accessed the app. Do not, I repeat, Do not tell tmo that you got the phone off cl. tmo sent me a brand new phone two days later. The only concern i have is the fact that your phone had a custom rom on it, if tmo determines that you installed a custom os which voids your warranty, they will charge you $400 for the replacement phone they sent you.
hope this helps

I clearly have a hardware locked vibrant. nothing i can do will get it into download mode.
It is currently stuck at the Phone ! Computer screen.
My question is, i am an Att customer, not tmobile. How do i go about getting my phone replaced. I tried contacting the person i bought it from, and he is not responding (a craigslist ad). I went to the local tmobile store and I was told there is nothing they can do. Even thought it shows in the system it was purchased 3 days ago.

Try this:
Take battery out
Put battery back in
DO NOT TURN ON PHONE!
Plug in USB
Wait for the green battery screen
Hold vol+ and vol- at the same time
Hold power
When the battery screen goes black, let go power ONLY.
I had a HW locked phone and this method allowed me to get into DL mode--still couldn't get into recovery, but at least I could use ODIN. Was a null point as the phone is bricked and a new one is on its way...
I will have a RIFF jtag box this Friday. If you can't get it fixed, let me know. I may able to fix yours.
Just an update. Might help others. My phone was hardware locked. I tried all (15) methods to get into download mode. No go. so I made a post on cs paid someone 10 bucks to go in and get it replaced. seriously. no questions asked.
kinda makes you wonder about tmobile...
Well:
It is their branded phone...they sell many of them...not too many people frequent the same same store over and over. It is easy to dupe retailers when "customer service" is the forefront and even if you suspect foul-play, as an employee you are held by protocol.
Capitalism at its finest. I will not say anything about your CS post and method--you already know...and that is how consumers will respond to what they want.
I just bought this Vibrant over ebay.
What sux is, the user is some what mislead prints.
Here is the case, phone is locked down. pattern lock down...
Factory Reset code does not work.
Hold Down Vol Down + Vol Up + Power Button, Release Power on Vibrant Logo show up. This procedure done so many times, did NOT work.
Does this mean I have a Hardware Lock? on this phone. (the phone shows July/17/2010)
Please tell me what options there are to solve this issue?
I like to use this phone on a prepaid sim. later get this sim unlock also.
Adb reboot recovery. You have to dl the android sdk first.

does this require, going in the device and enable debug? cause I can not even go in to Stock Recovery Mode. Stuck on the google account log in screen.
can you tell me how to get adb recovery to work?
thnx in advance.
Why does this post seem a little fishy to me? My instincts would lead me to think the phone isn't legit. You bought a phone off of Ebay, AND it came screen locked? Having sold many a phone on Ebay, I can tell you the first thing I do is wipe the phone and restore it to 100% stock. Receving one locked is alot more than "misleading", it just plain makes no sense. But I.m guessing you already know that. If it walks like a duck, and quack likes a duck....it's probably a stolen phone

That would be too easy
Dipping it in acid unlocks it in sub seconds, if you use hot water it will take longer, but you will get an email confirmation of a full unlock.

Tell you what, I actually got a hold of the Original owner of the phone, she was nice to add me to Authorized user, some hispanic lady. She gave up on the phone cause not what she exactly need. have no clue how to even use it correctly. Friend of her, sold it on ebay. I bought it, ever since been in touch with T-Mobile. Trying to get IMEI Unlock code!! still waiting...for that email...
do not bother, "there is app to get unlock code" I KNOW! there is!! I want to use it badly...Problem is, I am in a town where T-Mobile does NOT EXIST!! Only ATT. That is why, getting unlock code, so I can use it on ATT. Log in the phone, and Format with Custom ROMs.
This is my only choice now I have...suck aint it.

Not being smart but have you actually read any of the threads about it? Easiest thing to try is this:
Take battery/sim/sd card
Plug in usb cord
Hold all three buttons
Put battery back in and as you do take your finger off JUST the power button.
That always worked for me when i could not get anything but the black screen.
2 Questions:
- Do you see anything on the screen? any logos any signs anything?
- Do the buttons light up? even if its for 1 second... do they?
If you respond no to both of those...
your hard bricked.
Which means you need to either
- try a JIG (probably wont work)
or
- New phone

It's the boot loader. The only way to get it working again is with a jtag (not a jig). The average repair shop will charge around $50, but they may not be able to fix the hardware lock still. I'm in the same boat and trying to find out how much Samsung will charge for the repair if they determine it's out of warranty for some reason (e.g. they find out there were any modifications done).
Send to tmo not samsung. Its cheaper

Tmo's only an option if you're a Tmo customer. Samsung also pays for the shipping if it's under warranty.

Samsung most certainly does not pay for shipping and handling.
I replaced my phone through tmobile and samsung charged me $11

I bought my M7 brand new from eBay and everything worked fine when I got it. Somehow between unlocking the bootloader, installing recovery, rooting, and installing this (M7 Unofficial T-Mobile 1.29.401.13 OTA GSM Deodex) ROM, the vibration no longer works. I can feel an EXTREMELY faint vibrate. So faint that i had to mute the TV and put my ear to the phone to hear it.
What can I do to try to get this taken care of?

OK so it's definitely busted. I ran the vibration diagnostic (*#*#3424#*#*) mode and ran the vibration test. If I knock the phone around a bit it comes back but never lasts more than a few seconds. Will T-mobile honor the warranty if I bought the phone from eBay and have unlocked my bootloader?
Okay, I had this problem with another phone I had (HTC Sensation 4G). I found myself with little vibrations, so faint that it wasn't noticeable in my pocket. Instead of going back to another stock ROM I left it the way it was. A few days later my speaker shut completely down, so I freaked out and installed a different ROM. Speaker didn't work, vibrations worked though. I called HTC and they told me I screwed something up in the phone's circuitry. My recommendation would be to go to a different ROM, if that doesn't work, go stock, and if you still have problems call HTC.

If you have it covered with insurance by T-Mobile then I see why not unroot it, lock the bootloader and return it to T-Mobile. It's sure worth a shot!

Got it off eBay. Whats the manufacturer warranty on these things?
Usually HTC would charge you a hundred something, I usually buy my phones from anywhere other than T-Mobile and still get insured by them. If you've insured your phone it should still be covered through T-Mobile. Try that first because I know to replace a damaged phone through T-Mobile is a sure a hundred dollars and not a day without a phone because it gets replaced in like 1 day if anything.

I just got back from tmobile they told me since I didn't buy it at tmobile and i'm prepaid they can't help me. I'm going to get a refund through ebay. The description stated the phone was new and defect free but it isn't so according to ebay's policies I'm eligible for a refund.
I think I'm going to buy ANOTHER M7, when I get it go to t-mobile to transfer my service to the new one, then send the old one back through ebay buyer protection for a refund. I'll be out almost $600 until the ebay refund goes through though.

if you bought it brand new, its a 1 year warranty with HTC, you can do t his through T-Mobile and they will charge you $20 to call and deal with it for you however, since we dont have SOFF, they will know you rooted it, there is this video that says rooting does not void your warranty so if you can prove to HTC that you rooting did NOT cause this, they shouldn't care

Is this $20 fee documented somewhere? Although I believe you I can't really point to an xda thread as source if the guy in the store says they don't do that.
Also, I'd be out a phone during this process right? And what if HTC tells me that me rooting my phone caused the vibration hardware to malfunction?

Okay then, if you bought it brand new, you have the receipt, you still have HTC 1 year warranty. You put it back to stock, and you tell them there is a problem with your phone. The vibration is off and its too weak. Then thats it. You will be out of a phone, if they do notice its rooted, which they probably wont if you resort it back to 100% stock and lock the booloader thought I am not sure about this, you can try to argue that it started happening way before you rooted it to fix an issue they are at fault here.

I bought it from eBay, no receipt. I could ask the person I bought it from for their receipt I guess. And if I brought it back I would put it back to stock but the bootloader would still say relocked and tampered since we don't have an RUU for t-mobile yet.

Yeah basically so you will have to argue with then that this happened before you flashed the new Rom thinking that would fix it. My phone vibration starts strong and gets weak but it last like a good minute just vibrating in a decreasing way.
.I was considering rooting and flashing the new 1.29 update because ny buttons don't work eithe but since we don't have SOFF they will know
Hey y'all!
Well I finally did it. I had tons of time on my hands and decided to screw around with my phone. After days of tweaking and messing around I managed to delete the wrong files during a factory reset which bricked my phone. Now even with a full battery none of the buttons work, plugging it in does nothing, and it is as they say a brick. Does anyone know of a jtag service that can work on the LG V10? I have checked some sites out, but so far no luck. Really trying to avoid the enormous deductible for a replacement phone (yes I know my warranty is voided).
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer!
Not sure off hand, these places seem few and far between maybe tray searching "JTAG snapdragon 808" or something like this as opposed to specific to v10
But really if it truly bricked and nothing turns on it is doubtful they will know why it bricked, you could just claim you were updating from ll to mm via official kdz in download mode and everything went blank
Then it's only deductible

Yeah I thought of that, but my deductible is $175 so I was hoping for a jtag at $50 like I have seen on eBay. I just contacted some of them and one got back to me stating that there has not been a jtag release for the V10 and that most new phones probably wont even get them. At least I have insurance. Last time I mod this soon after an update!

The phone should still be under warranty. Just send it to LG. Although, their repair technician's don't seem to be able to repair jack, so you may still be SOL.

Well when you send it in for warranty they give you a new phone. This is what I have considered doing. Just worried they could tell it was rooted.
