How new is your device???
If it is still within the warranty check with the service center...also try to remove the memory card and try using for some time and monitor the battery status...it happens some times a bad memory card can suck all the power from the device...if it is kinda phone which is older 2 yr or more then get a new battery...hope you find this usefull...
my gene is 18months old.it was good when i had my original wm5..that time i got 2days battery..ok.how costly it is...should i get original or duplicate?
I always recommend original replacements. Sometime ago I lost a cell phone because of a fake battery.
I do not think duplicate batteries are worth it. They never ever give you performance (as a matter of fact, their performance will be most likely worse than your existing battery ).
BTW can you try Pro User's ROM? And give us a feed back? The Gene is a very complex device (thanks to HTC ). All are Gene, but all are different, some issues come with some devices, while they are totally non existent in other phones. If you are reading the forum for some time, I hope you understand what I mean. BTW, if I am not wrong, Battery should be around INR 2000/-.

@saurabh: Try Krazy prousers ROM V2R3. Earlier also a discussion happended on battery issue. May go thru the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487374

And if you like WM 6.5 Try the new Pro Users WM 6.5 Edition, you will love the battery life it gives. With Pro Users WM 6.1 I was getting about 2-2.5 days backup, now i am getting 3.5 to 4 days! whoa! Thats super cool for a smartphone.

yes Haree, while using pro6.5 maximum battery life for me is 2 days ,i don't know how Sumit's gene is giving 4 days backup.
@Hari and Rakesh : Yes i am not a very heavy phone user, on gene particularly. It is for official purpose only. For other battery busting tasks, i use a nokia 1600 But i use my touch screen too much, more than anybody of you, due to always searching for new registry tweaks, analyzing system files, internet browsing, email checking, etc. Other than this i use my phone for listening to songs with AudioBooster ON for 1.5 hours everyday (I am quiet a bhajan fan, i find them very soothing, so i listen to them everyday strange for a tech guy, isn't it? But thats the way I am, a little different ). Plus about 1-2 hours of bluetooth on mode. I am gettting 3.5 to 4 days with all this
hey i got new battery cost 1500ru..and i want to ask one question.i always download from net at night..putiing my phone with charger..so is it safe way?plz give me some guidance about hiw to and when to charge battery
Yes its safe. But over time, if you don't calibrate your battery for long time, the first battery bar will start to go down fast. So make sure you re-calibrate your battery at least a month. To do that, follow these steps :
1. Discharge phone completely using games, music, videos etc and then take battery out.
2. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
3. Put back the battery but don't turn on the phone.
4. Charge it in switched off condition, until the power LED becomes green.
5. Restart the phone now.
Thats it
thanks
thanks for reply

Best ROM for battery life

Firstly, sorry for posting a noob like annoying thread like this but I wanted to get opinions.
I'm off to Download festival tomorrow! So I'm hoping to install a ROM which has a very good battery life, turn off syncing, mobile network and pretty much everything else and try and get a decent way through the weekend with my phone.
Any suggestions on which ROM I should rely on for this weekend?
I would test some out myself but I am leaving tomorrow morning I don't really have much time.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

gotta agree vanillaeclair is one of the best ive used.. running for 8 hours today and only 2% down.. i know percentages are a bit deceptive im pretty shure it'll last me a few day.. although i dont use data, use wifi all the time
Put Juice Defender on too
Never used Juicedefender before, will it help at all if I just keep Wifi/Data/Sync off all the time anyway?
Just to support VanillaEclair 3.3
I've been running a hell of a lot of different rom's for months now and VanillaEclair has been fantastic for battery life since 3.0
Don't forget to install overclock widget so that you can underclock it when it's sleeping etc.
I also use 'Process Manager' which you can set to auto-kill background apps. Every little helps.
EDIT- oh, and keeping wifi/sync/data off will help a hell of a lot
Right I've gone with VanillaEclair then.
I've turned off syncing/mobile data/everything and I've used SetCPU to change max down to 518mhz.
I've never really been into using Task Killers so I am a bit concerned about using one. I already purchased Advanced Task Manager a while ago so I could use that. What kind of autokill frequency do you use and does it really make a difference? I see Task Killers as another thing running in the background..

Task killer experiment

Alright, coming from WM way back to an iPaq, as soon as I got an android I got task killers, especially as I watched my memory go down to like 40 megs.
After reading I am deciding to remove any (excluding ZDBox) task killers that I have, and see if Android really does manage memory well.
I have to admit that when I did notice my launcher running slow, I would kill tasks and it would pick back up. Anyways....
I have one question - I am running Juice Defender, that doesn't kill tasks, just manages wifi, and the radio, right? Its ok to keep that going?
I am running a rooted TB with BAMF SoaB with GoLauncher as my home.
Any input on this would be appreciated!
JuiceDefender does no task killing, just deals w/networking as you said. The only reason a task kller would be necessary is a misbehaved app that wakes up often and burns processor cycles - Android reclaims memory when needed (a built in task killer, if you will). If you have a less-than-popular app, it might have such a problem, but popular apps get enough scrutiny that they should not be burning cycles and should not need to be killed.
That helps me, thx.
I completely agree for juice defender. It helps on "saving your battery", not on managing app on background.
You could try Advanced Task Killer. it's a good one. I used it on my I9000 when i had a Gingerbread rom and it worked great

So I have read your post about this v6supercharger (wouldn't mind a real one for my truck, another post)
You indicate its easy, but I have zero knowledge about this kind of stuff. I will be going over the instillation instructions, but want to be sure that if I screw something up in the setup, It will be easy (battery pull) to start over?
Also, I am running a rooted phone with a CPU speed setting, and have overclocked it to 1400, will this V6 do the same, or is it a completely different setup?

at the first time it maybe cause a bootloop(stuck),so pull out battery and boot again,so better not run it on boot,if its working(no bootloop) then you can set it to run on boot so you have permanent setup, and you can unsupercharger if you dont like it,it doesnt touch your clock speed,it just playing with ram and out of memory things, dont worry bout setting it,it will suggest for you..

[Q] Battery Hunger and slowness after Rooting.

Hello People,
As you can see im new to this community, i hope i won´t bother you so much.
I got an S3 myselft and unlocked it right away before even using it. Did use Samsung S3 Toolkit , which i think its a great tool and this forum is a huge palace full of incredible geniuses so i´m really grateful for what is has done for me already.
As i stated in the title i´ve been getting serious problems after rooting my phone , everything working fine. or i think it is. But the UI in general became slow as hell , it crawls on the floor , pressing the menu butom to go back takes from 5 to 8 seconds to respond onto something , no matter what , oppening applications is not that slow but switching pages or screens is LAGGY as hell. I tried full wipe , cache wipe , before and after flashing.
Actually using this rom I9300UBEMA1_I9300UVOELL1_ARO its the Non branded version of my Local Firmwar (Argentina) , the kernel i use if the one that comes with Samsung S3 toolkit 7.0.0 the 4.1.2 unrooted version for JZ054K.ELLA ( file name :boot-insecure-ella-GTI9300 )
The original Firm and kernel the phone had was the 4.0.4 "Personal" Branded BLG6 Kernel.
I know this phone is already known as a battery killer , but i didn´t spected to be that kind of slow to crawl device. I´ve already tried multiple task killer apps like AutoKill or ES task manager , Better battery stats to check battery drain but still cannot find a reason. Tried Juice Defender Ultimate on Extreme settings. And did nothing to my battery life.
Then Looking for some Customized roms i found out 2 that took my attention :
One of them is Omega and the other is Android Revolution HD, which one of these are going to have a possitive effect on performance gain + battery economy without overkilling phone capabilities ? . Is that the answer? or are there any real app / patch that could really resolve this issue.
Well people im sorry if this question sounds quite stupid or bothers some people but i already researched more than 200+ hours and i couldn´t find the exact point where i should be heading to solve this.
I would start with a fairly, near to stock Rom, I won't suggest any, just go to development and read up on the Roms, but also try a custom kernel.
Don't use task killers, they are counter productive if not used right.
I would also suggest going through what you have enabled, the smart features can heavily affect battery, also poor signal, and it might well be you need to check your modem (baseband) and see if there are other more suitable ones.
Keep reading and searching and you will develop a good understanding of various ways to make this phone fly, just don't rush things.
And, backup, backup, backup! Enjoy
Better Battery Stats and Greenify from the market may help .

He's right, try flashing a more popular widely used stock firmware like the XXELLA rom or the recently released ones. Also do post screenshots of BetterBatteryStats.. Kernel wakelocks are major reasons why battery drains. Often IM+Social Media apps use network data in the background and are culprits behind wakelocks.
I for one can confirm the Facebook native app as being a major contributor to the problem.
You should also check if "Fast Dormancy" is supported by your carrier or not? FD is by default enabled on the S3, disabling can save substantial amount of battery life. You can do so by downloading "Fast Dormancy Toggle App" from PlayStore.
As for custom roms, it really depends on user experience. I have used Omega rom and it easily lasted a day and half for me with good usage.
Currently I'm running CyanogenMod 10.1 and it lasts me 2 days
post betterbatterystats screen
Try custom roms
