[Q] Application Development for HTC Touch Pro2 - Touch Pro CDMA

Hey everyone! I just got my hands on the HTC Touch Pro 2 through Sprint with Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional. I'm interested in finding out a few things:
1) Where can I find the resources/tutorials for writing applications for my phone? I'm a C++ programmer and would like to know if it's possible to port console based programs onto my phone, even if it means writing them again in a new language.
2) Are there any good open-source applications that are written to run on Windows Mobile 6.5 and the HTC Touch Pro2?
3) This one is very unlikely (or at least not wise to do) but are there any OS alternatives for the HTC Touch Pro2? Such as a Linux port? Just curious. I imagine even if there is such an OS it would somehow make life far too hectic when it comes to using the phone as a phone
Thanks in advance for any information!

head over to the right forum, you are in the touch pro forum, you want the rhodium (touch pro 2) forum. you'll get a better response there. I don't have an answer for you.

PocketPC Word Mobile on Smartphone?

This may be the wrong forum, but all the geniuses hang out here. As we know smartphone lacks word mobile, but in theory there is no reason why it would not run, and also run well without a touch screen.
I manage to install Textmaker to the Windows Mobile Smartphone emulator. It runs fine, but does not provide for one-handed usage.
Is it possible to rip word mobile from a pocketpc ROM and make it installable on smartphone OS? Devices like the Samsung i320 and Moto Q would definitely benefit.
Anyone ambitious enough for this task?

windows mobile 6.0 strandard

Hi, is there any opportunity to install windows mobile 6.0 standard edition (for smartphones) on my HTC TyTN? Lots of thanks in advance =)
for smartphones? why?
why would you want to do this firstly?
never heard about it being don
doubt it's possible as the os needs to
have 100% the right drivers to boot
and even then the screen would no longer
react to touch

Interface of WM6 standard edition is adopted for keyboard manipulations without touchscreen. I am using mostly keyboard but i can not get all the functionality. I think using keyboard is faster than touchscreen.
You say "mostly"... if you could install WM6 Standard on the TyTN it would be "always"! Forget about doodling in Notes and quick copy'n'paste in Pocket Word!
AFAIK, WM6 Standard is adapted to use a standard phone number pad and this is missing on the Hermes. Why don't you sell your TyTN and buy the S720 or S730? There you have both an outside number pad and a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

Dual Touch D3D? Some questions!

Hello guys!
I've some questions on HTC Dual Touch.
First, in the past, there were some threads about D3D and OpenGL drivers for this device. By now, It's hard to find something about 3D acceleration and Touch Dual. Is there any rom which including these drivers? And will it worth?
Because - and so we come to the next point - I saw some videos on Youtube about an amazing PSX emulation tool. I do not exactly now what this software require, but with activated D3D - will it work?
Or isn't their any use of D3D even if it's activated or not?
Next, you guys flash a lot of roms with 6.1 or 6.5! Well, in the past, I use the HTC Prophet and Elf. In my opinion, 6.1 was a bit faster than 6.5! But with it's other hardware and by improved Win 6.5 versions, this may have changed!?
And my last question! HTC phones/ PDAs are nice things, but I really miss the smilies. You know, a SMS looks more friendlier when the smilies will be visual and not only letters! Is there any way to get these into win mobile?
I thank in advancefor answering my question and have to excuse me for my bad English!

External keyboard

Hi,
Is there any external Bluetooth keyboard or just
a normal Keyboard working with the HTC hero?
Or any Bluetooth-keyboard-driver?

I've been looking at this for the HTC Desire and have found 4 possibilities which may or may not apply to the Hero
1. Keypro on the android market claims to provide bluetooth drivers for a range of keyboards. Comments suggest it is tricky to set up but does work for some devices
2. BlueInput also on the market claims to do the same but comments are much more negative
3. Freedom input are developing drivers for Android for their Freedom Pro keyboard model and have released some
4. Chris Paget has developed a hardware solution for a USB keyboard (see http://www.tombom.co.uk/blog/?p=124). Needs some soldering and looks a bit awkward
I am probably about to go for option 3 but let us know if you get something working

Option 3 seems the most likely to work, though all drivers seem to fail/be problematic with a number of Android 1.5 devices, particularly HTC ones, including the Hero.
I have a Freedom Pro sitting here waiting to be tested with my Hero, after I finally update to a 2.1 ROM.
maybe these can help?

is it possible to run WM6 on the xperia mini pro?

has anyone considered porting WM6.1 or (6.5) to this device?
it's a strange request i know, but i am very interested to know if it's possible. i read that the X1 and X2 ran WM6 so i thought that might be a starting point if some of the drivers would be similar.
the background to this is that i have 50 guys running around the countryside with HTC HD2s operating in a DIY kiosk mode, doing farm audits on a WM6 app i've developed for a client. these devices are discontinued now and running out of supply. i'd like to stick with the Windows platform and the range of WM7 devices is very poor, and don't get me started on the Marketplace publishing bureaucracies. WM6 is a great platform for business use, and i'm curious to know if it will ever run on the excellent range of android devices?
AFAIK, Windows Mobile isn't open source and it hasn't ported to android devices.
But I think it's possible to run Windows 95.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
