I have a vibrant but my t-mobile account is not yet active and I do not have a t-mobile SIM card.
I inserted an AT&T SIM card just to unlock the the phone but the AT&T SIM card is not active either.
Even before I unlocked the phone, I could not get it to download apps from the market.
I thouht it was because the phone did not have a SIM card so I unlocked the phone using the AT&T SIM card but it still does not download.
Whenever I choose an app, it says "Starting Download" but it will not progress any further from that.
Is there something that I am doing wrong? Shouldn't the phone download apps regardless of the activation status of the SIM Card.
I have tried everything including cancelling the pending downloads on download manager.
Please help!!!

You will have to sideload apps by downloading them on your windows or mac pc and placing them on the sdcard. From here you can use the FILES app to manually install the apk's you download.
As I understand the Android Market's limitations you have to be active on the carrier to use the Market. So, sideload until your account is active.

When I do a fresh install I can go to to the phone settings/network and if I havent put my sim card in I can change it to manual and pick what tower I want to be on but after I put my att sim in it wont allow me to do this it is all done automaticly is there a way around this??
I just installed WM6 for my tmobile MDA, and now its not reading my sim card. Voice command is working however when i hit the contact softkey, no contacts show up.
has anyone else had/heard of this problem? and if so, anyone have any help?
what rom did you install and does it have SIM MANAGER in either the programs or settings directory? If so, just use it to transfer your contacts to the phone from the sim card.
I am having txt msging issues and called VZW they said they are sending a new phone and new sim card. My question is can I try the new sim card with my existing phone first to see if that corrects the issue? I was wondering if I could try it on the old phone first to see if the issue is corrected and if not put the new sim card in the new phone they are sending.
Thanks
Good question as I was always told sim cards are tied to the phone but it being the same phone number it might work. Cant hurt to try it out.
NO they are NOT and you can SWITCH SIM CARDS on the FLY to DIFFERENT ACCOUNTS/PHONES.
The rep just doesn't know the engineering of the system.
You can even do it on VZW.Com.
Log into VZW.COM, go to switch phone.
Click on the old phone to kill (phone #), and it will be deactivated.
Now power down the old phone.
Now it will ask you for the IMEI# of the new phone.
Enter that.
Now it will ask you if you want a NEW VZW SIM card # attached to this new 4G device which will be pre-active in the systems and mailed to you or want to use a existing SIM card #.
Select existing.
It will ask you for the old SIM card # serial # (IMSI#).
Enter that (starts with 89).
That old SIM card has now switched profiles from a old 4g device to a new 4g device.
Activation is all done.
Now just move the SIM card from the old device to new device and boot.
Hi there
I have HTC Mozart phone from 1 year. The phone is unlocked, unbranded.
I use our mobile operator (mtel).
But get new sim card (same mobile operator). When put new card- phone notify that no sim card inserted or invalid. When back old one- say no services (it is normal because it is stop from operator). When put other card - phone notify the same- no sim card inserted or invalid.
Is it possible old card lock my phone some way?
Any idea wtf?
Thank u all and sorry for my english.

It is possible for the operator to lock your phone trough the zune updates.
That's what happened to me. So if you have updated it that way its most likely that it has happened to you too.
Hi,
Believe me - I tried all the things I found searching the web - this is my last resort..
I have Jiayu S2 Advanced 2/32GB, It stopped detecting SIM cards after system update.
Original Adroid was in version 4.4.2,
After this happened I tried to change ROM with the ones available on needroom portal, as well as Jiayu website and Jiayu.es
Tried to upload ROM with SPflash and CWMRecovery - I went through different 4.4.2 version and 4.2.2 - everytime ROMs were working fine, but SIM cards are not detected.
At the same time I observed that all 4.4.2 Android version did not even notify about SIM cards missing - only 4.2.2 did it.
IMEI address is correct (the same for both SIM cards) - tried to overwrite it anyway with the same numbers - but still the same...
I'm not an expert, but I think radio file is included in ROM package when flashing with SPflash? If not - where can I get it and how to upload it to the phone? Any other ideas?
Attached screenshots from system set up and Mobileuncle Tools - on the SIM 1 I see some signal strength changing and Radio is ON, no matter if card is in or not - status of those doesn't change if I put SIM card in.
ONE MORE THING!! Just found out - when telephone starts up there's standard info 'Slot 1: No SIM card detected, Please check if SIM card is ready' and the same message for SIM2, but when I clear messages and then on working phone I take out SIM card from Slot 1 and put it back 1 second later I get the same message again 'Slot 1: No SIM card detected, Please check if SIM card is ready' - this make me believe that SIM actually is detected, but somehow not recognized! The same thing happens if I "play" with Slot 2. Please help!!
Did you manage to fix it? I am having trouble myself; The SIM cards are detected, but cannot connect to the network. The IMEI was blank after a couple of ROM flashes, but I have restored it. Still, no luck... Probably the efs folder or something like that is corrupted, but I have no backup.
Same issue in Jiayu S2
