Adhesive signal booster - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

One block around my house i get poor signal and no 3g. I was thinking about getting an adhesive booster. Does any one no if things those actually work.

No, they don't.

Seen LOTS of tests of those and none positive.

You guys are right. It's not woth the ten bucks if they don' work. Thanks.

I picked one up for $2 6 months ago for my g1. I had no signal in my office at work before, and none after. I feel that any signal boost someone may notice from it is going to be all in there head.

4g issues

On my rezound on 4g I did a speed test and got 43mb down. At home 5-7mb. Why do you think my home still connects at 4g but is so much slower?
Also I can't download from the web but can surf the web where I got 43mb. I wonder why??
And at home I connect at 4g but it changes to 3g sometimes.

You probably have a weaker signal at home.
Hi. Here's an update.
I don't have the Rezound now. Returned it and got an iPhone 4s white 32gb yesterday. Didn't like how siri sucked for me and couple other issues so I returned it today.
I got today the Galaxy Nexus. While setting it up it changed from 4G to 3G a lot. I think most of the time it said 3G. What's going on? The rezound said 4G more often. Now with the Nexus, I think it says 3g more.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
dude, you got a samsung! ;D
There have been numerous complaints about the galaxy nexus having a weak radio. Should have stuck with the rezound.
Who let you keep switching out the phone? Usually they only let you switch out a device once.

I was off contract. My contract ended couple weeks ago. They always told me I could return it within 14 days.
I didn't keep the Rezound because I have the Droid Incredible and the Rezound screen didn't seem that much better. No wow factor really. I liked it, just not much better I thought. I liked the ear buds and the 4G. Sense had couple nice things my Incredible doesn't have.
Got Nexus cus it was nicer screen some say. And its ICS. I did see a Rezoumd vs Nexus review and he said Nexus was about 3mbps slower 4G then the Rezound download and about 1 or 2mbps lower on the upload. Some recommend Nexus over Rezound so I thought I would try the Nexus now.

Where I work I get 4G signal on one or two bars, while a coworker on his Galaxy Nexus only get 3G. I guess it has to due with maybe a reception issue on the Galaxy Nexus.
Tbaker, is yer phone a nexus?
I think I'm taking the nexus back and getting the Rezound again today after I wake up. It's 2am pst for me and I go to bed soon.
I play monopoly on my nexus and it has major touch issues and a sound issue too. Didn't have this issue so much with the Rezound when I had it. I'm a bit bugged.
But I like if possible to have ICS no sense on the Rezound.
I'm just bothered by the nexus worse signal and couple other things. So maybe I can get ICS on the Rezound. I do like Senseless ICS though.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
That's a lot of phones in a short period of time. Verizon might flag you, and you might get stuck with the GN.
What's that saying? Oh yeah, the grass is always greener on the other side.

I did alot of reading before pulling the trigger on my upgrade. I was coming from an OG droid , so really wanted an updated phone this time. I figured it was the Gnex from all the hype and being a dev phone etc.. Luckily, I waited a bit and read the forums for the 3 big phones. Saw that the Gnex had alot of radio strength issues, so went with the Rezound because as much as I like to play with the phone it still needs to work for me.
I don't know how much you read prior to getting the Gnex , but you could have found out the common issues without having to try it out
Yeah I did read the engadget reviews on the nexus and saw a video comparing the nexus and resound. Every article or review basically said the nexus was the one to get. The video guy said and showed the nexus was 3mb slower on the 4g download and 1 or 2 mb slower on 4g upload.
I'm taking the nexus back. I can't stand the touch issues in monopoly and right now I hate the nexus keyboard. Its pausing every couple letters really bad. Plus I don't like how low the speaker is cus I listen to the bible when I go to bed. Nexus sounds poor and lower volume.
But what I don't like about the Resound is how it is so similar to my incredible. The screen doesn't seem much better then my incredible. But it may if it ran ics without sense. That possible with a rom? I liked the 4g and speaker wàs OK. Included earbuds were nice except kept falling out my ears lol. Plus rezound is $100 cheaper then the nexus. Yet still includes the ear buds.

That means every thing looks good when you don't have it, but when you do have it, it isn't worth the hype.
In other words, buyer's remorse.
You don't think the screen is much better than the incredible? Either you are blind or you got a bad screen. I had an incredible the amoled one even, the screens aren't even comparable, if you want to compare screens compare it to the nexus and the rezound still wins.
Oh ok lol.
I got the rezound again few hrs ago. I'm just noticing an anti glare type coating on the rezound screen. I notice stuff on the whole screen when looking at it from an Angle. Really buggs me. I hate anti glare coating on anything and I prefer the clear screens of tv, monitor etc even with glare. What I am referring to looks a lot like anti glare coating.
The 4g signal though it for sure better then the nexus.

Would u do this trade ?

Would you do this trade someone offered me for my note, I'm just thinking of doing it while a good 4g mod is found for us tmobile users, so I got offered a 32 gig transformer prime and a HTC amaze for an even trade is it worth it.while I wait? If u guys can give me.some feed back I'd really appreciated. TIA
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Yes its a good trade. I would do it instantly. The guy offering is losing a lot.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
I would do that trade too. Hate to see you leave our note though. HTC amaze is a good phone. I had that phone before going to the Note. Plus, there is a leak official HTC amaze ics update.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I really don't want to leave but my data speeds suck on tmobile I'm paying for something I'm pretty much not using, I seen people have good luck getting good speeds I just haven't found it and I've tried every combo modem and rom with scrip and no scrip idk if it's a good deal ill do it then if anything ill just sell and come back when something is found, doesn't seem like anyone wants to try figuring out the 4g issue and I'm in no way capable of playing with anything code wise haha I wouldn't know what to do hahaha
Edit : its so bad in upload also I can't even sign into fb or post an instagram its pretty bad for me

I know how you feel man. Im on T-Mobile too. I think our best bet is to wait for the T-Mobile Note (still a rumor, no confirmation yet) and port the radio over.

I did notice it works a bit better on edge :/ hahaha but is there even a way just to force it on edge, so far been looking at craigslist ads I can prolly get 300 for.each device if I ever wanna sell and come back to the note I don't.think it would be an.issue
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Are you on ics? My friend has a note and also on tmobile. He has much better data on gb than ics. I think if you use stock att radio, you will only get edge.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I'm still rocking a gb rom ill install art radio see what happens
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
I tried every combo also but kept getting dropped calls. Went back to stock and used Edge, got good signal plus no dropped calls but of course slow speeds. Finally signed up with Straight Talk with an AT&T sim card and get HSPA speeds and no dropped calls. Guess I'll stay with them until the T-Mobile situation gets fixed.
That's a helluva trade. Do it before the other guy realizes he's losing out.

I would test run the prime first. There are some units out there that the wifi is poor and the gps just does not work. To be fair, there are also some that work great. I read the whole tear down thread and they found antennas and radios with poor placement and some just not connected at all. Luck of the draw.
good luck with your decision!
You realize street value on the prime is pretty close to 500 yet right?
That's a pretty good deal

Definately do it, then sell the amaze for 220, and buy a slightly used note for 380 in a few months

For the Prime, besides the usual checks (screen, case, dead pixels, etc)...check the serial #...I have C1xxx. GPS is still almost non-existent, but Wi-Fi is definitely better with the more recent serial #s, C1xxx, C2xxx, C3xxx??? and latest updates from ASUS. Be careful not to update to .21 firmware yet if possible...believe there is no root for .21 firmware yet.
EDIT: Currently, you need to root BEFORE firmware .21 and install OTA Rootkeeper immediately!!! You can then upgrade to firmware .21 the restore root with OTA Rootkeeper. It's all in the Prime section.

Tetra 3 is good, but no lte, no SD card, and non removable battery

I can't take losing data anymore.

My phone loses data so much that I can't download a different ROM. Doesn't matter where its 3g or wifi, my phone constantly loses signal just long enough to disconnect and cause any large downloads to fail. If there isn't a software update for this in the near future I'm going to be so upset because I bought the phone on day 1 which means my 30 day return window at best buy is up tomorrow. If this doesn't change by morning, and I don't see why it will, lol, I guesses I'll have to return the phone for a new one. Any suggestions or comments are welcome.
For what its worth, I'm running stock with goodies 1.43

I'm in the exact same boat as you. Bout it on day one when Best Buy could only fullfill the pre-orders on the 23rd of May. Sad to see my GF stream netflix on her EVO Shift while I struggled to stream music on my EV0 4G LTE. Don't know if it's worth turning it in for a new one, or if this is just how these phones perform? *SIGH...what to do...what to do? Does it have to be taken in to the same BB you bought it?
I don't know about the same store. I would assume you can take it back to any best buy. I'm thinking real hard about returning this one for a new one tomorrow. I mean, really, how much will it suck if I have to replace it through sprint insurance if its the phone? A $200 deductible now, that's crazy. I didn't pay $200 for the phone, why sink another $200 in it?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
If I were you I would take it back and exchange it for a new one. I just got mine last week and thus far haven't had a single problem downloading large files over wifi with mine. I can also stream pandora/iheartradio over 3g with no problems.
I always get the Best Buy Blacktie warranty for only $8/mo. I can swap the phone with no hassle. But I am really now considering on trading this in for a new one before the 30 days. At least I can hope that I get a better one with a clean activation. I still can't believe how bad data is on this phone. :crying:
I had the best buy insurance until I actually had to use it. To get a new phone, the have to send it out 4 times and have it come back still broken or unfixed. Each time they send it out it takes about a week to week and a half to get it back. Took me over a month and a half to get an old Evo replaced. At that time, I would have gladly given the hundred dollar deductible sprint charges. But now its $200 and I'm looking to have to use it within the first couple months? This is ridiculous.

I've found that it's not losing a data connection, Sense is killing the download.
My solution was to go to the settings, check the option to keep the screen on while charging. Then download the file while attached to the charger. Don't do anything else until the download finishes.
By keeping the download in the foreground, Sense won't kill it.
I'm now on Deck's CM9 build for this exact reason.
Good luck.

That's exactly what I did last night. I couldn't sleep so I set the phone to screen off never and I stared at it like a watched pot. For 515 mb. Lol. There has to be a workaround or an update in the future for this.

Sorry for the bad experience bud I can tell you that the geek squad protection has gotten a lot better. Now it does not take more than 3-5 days to get another one. For some reason actually the past 4 phones I send out they get it by the next day. Avg for us is about 2 days but it all varies by location of nearest service center from you. Still 3-5 days a good estimate on getting one back. Yes it is a.refurb phone also. If your uber lucky it could be new. Sent my buddies note out and he got a brand new one back. Sent others before and they were refurbs. Guess he has lucky lol

Wait, so they don't replace them on the spot anymore? That's too bad. Ř years ago I got my first smartphone. Blackberry Bold (still love it ) and got it from BestBuy. Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
I may be wrong, but I don't think this particular issue is smart sync. I have issues downloading files even when the phone isn't sleeping. If I put the download in the background while using another app. It is nearly impossible to download a ROM without keeping it in the foreground.
Either way, can you name the app?

GS3 to N2 owners...

Hey all, long story short, I went from a GS3 to a Droid DNA. I was sick of the atrocious GS3 radios. I could almost never get a gps lock indoors and at work I have bad reception and my GS3 would have a lot of texts bounce back, etc.
Since I've had the DNA I've had none of those issues. So it was definitely the radios in the GS3.
With that being said, I'm considering a N2 since I'm still within my exchange period. Will people that went from the GS3 to the N2 please chime in and let me know if the radios are the same or improved with the N2? It will be the deciding factor for me.
Thanks!
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
Been answered a few times but reception is awesome on this phone.
The radio for the S3 was fine for me. The Note 2 though is better than the S3. Also, you can't beat the Note 2's 3100 mah battery. I'd say, go with the Note 2 even though you're losing the 1080p display. It's a trade off between 7 hours of on screen time and a HD display. But I'm being a little biased
I went GS3 to DNA to N2. Radios are solid and you really don't notice the "worse" screen of the N2 when compared to the DNA since this is a non-pentile screen. Battery as said is off the charts, up there with the Razr Maxx.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda premium
I have three G3s and wanted the dna immediately when I saw the initial announcment for it.
When I read the specs and saw the rather small non removeable battery and the fact that I wouldn't be able to use my 64 gig storage card I changed my mind and bought the N2.
I absolutely LOVE the N2. Reception does seem to be better than my G3s, although I still have a rezound sitting here that has a better radio than any samsung phone.
I came from the GS3 to the GN2, my reception at home on the Gs3 was terrible to point that Verizon gave me the option to cancel with no ETF. The GN2 has way better reception from 1 bar of reception to 3 on the GN2
sent from the TV in my pocket
The radio is better. Though mine wasn't horrible on S3. It's basically a bigger better S3 which is amazing. It's such a good phone.
The DNA looks great though. I wanted the pen and the sdcard, but it was close for me. I see on the forums people say the battery is better than reviews say, but you would know. Battery here is of course amazing.
Thanks for the responses so far guys. So can you guys consistently get a gps lock indoors with the N2?

Even if someone does answer that, there's no way it means anything. One person's screened-in patio is much different than another's castle basement. GPS is based on line-of-sight, you're lucky to get GPS signal indoors with any device.

Normal 1 story house = yes. Within a half minute. 10 to 15 seconds. Outside nearly instant. It uses 14 + satellites where my old bolt was doing good to use 10
Just locked in under 30 seconds...in my dungeon basement...in the closet. Usually it's within seconds. WAY better than my S3, but I was on T-Mobile, so it's hard to compare.

If using an app like Cerberus you never know where you're gonna lose the phone or if its stolen where they are gonna take it. GPS needs to lock most everywhere. Plus some apps use location.

Hi,
I bought 2 of them for family and it's working great in fact one of them disconnected their landline phone since it wasn't needed anymore. They work alot better than the old days. Just a heads up. I recommend at least having cable modem speed not dsl. Otherwise it will affect signal quality. It also has a small piece that is for gps so it will need a window for sky view capability. It comes with an extension wire so the main unit can stay near the modem while the gps sensor is near the window.
Thanks,
Bryan
Have you tried flashing different radios?
I haven't tried different radios I've only flashed a couple of custom kernels. But I will most definitely search for radios. Thanks!
