Hey all, long story short, I went from a GS3 to a Droid DNA. I was sick of the atrocious GS3 radios. I could almost never get a gps lock indoors and at work I have bad reception and my GS3 would have a lot of texts bounce back, etc.
Since I've had the DNA I've had none of those issues. So it was definitely the radios in the GS3.
With that being said, I'm considering a N2 since I'm still within my exchange period. Will people that went from the GS3 to the N2 please chime in and let me know if the radios are the same or improved with the N2? It will be the deciding factor for me.
Thanks!

Been answered a few times but reception is awesome on this phone.
The radio for the S3 was fine for me. The Note 2 though is better than the S3. Also, you can't beat the Note 2's 3100 mah battery. I'd say, go with the Note 2 even though you're losing the 1080p display. It's a trade off between 7 hours of on screen time and a HD display. But I'm being a little biased
I went GS3 to DNA to N2. Radios are solid and you really don't notice the "worse" screen of the N2 when compared to the DNA since this is a non-pentile screen. Battery as said is off the charts, up there with the Razr Maxx.

I have three G3s and wanted the dna immediately when I saw the initial announcment for it.
When I read the specs and saw the rather small non removeable battery and the fact that I wouldn't be able to use my 64 gig storage card I changed my mind and bought the N2.
I absolutely LOVE the N2. Reception does seem to be better than my G3s, although I still have a rezound sitting here that has a better radio than any samsung phone.
I came from the GS3 to the GN2, my reception at home on the Gs3 was terrible to point that Verizon gave me the option to cancel with no ETF. The GN2 has way better reception from 1 bar of reception to 3 on the GN2

The radio is better. Though mine wasn't horrible on S3. It's basically a bigger better S3 which is amazing. It's such a good phone.
The DNA looks great though. I wanted the pen and the sdcard, but it was close for me. I see on the forums people say the battery is better than reviews say, but you would know. Battery here is of course amazing.
Thanks for the responses so far guys. So can you guys consistently get a gps lock indoors with the N2?

Even if someone does answer that, there's no way it means anything. One person's screened-in patio is much different than another's castle basement. GPS is based on line-of-sight, you're lucky to get GPS signal indoors with any device.

Normal 1 story house = yes. Within a half minute. 10 to 15 seconds. Outside nearly instant. It uses 14 + satellites where my old bolt was doing good to use 10
Just locked in under 30 seconds...in my dungeon basement...in the closet. Usually it's within seconds. WAY better than my S3, but I was on T-Mobile, so it's hard to compare.

Could be a placebo but I feel like the note 2 gps locks faster than my S3 did. But then again the s3 locked fairly quick anyway.

i gotta ask why such emphasis on getting a gps lock in your home?
and the note2 is so much better then the gs3, the dbm reading side by side is always 6-8 better then my gs3, and a friend with a note and a moto m says its equal.

If using an app like Cerberus you never know where you're gonna lose the phone or if its stolen where they are gonna take it. GPS needs to lock most everywhere. Plus some apps use location.
I would definitly switch. Just made the switch yesterday and wouldnt go back. Love this huge screen

On my rezound on 4g I did a speed test and got 43mb down. At home 5-7mb. Why do you think my home still connects at 4g but is so much slower?
Also I can't download from the web but can surf the web where I got 43mb. I wonder why??
And at home I connect at 4g but it changes to 3g sometimes.

You probably have a weaker signal at home.
Hi. Here's an update.
I don't have the Rezound now. Returned it and got an iPhone 4s white 32gb yesterday. Didn't like how siri sucked for me and couple other issues so I returned it today.
I got today the Galaxy Nexus. While setting it up it changed from 4G to 3G a lot. I think most of the time it said 3G. What's going on? The rezound said 4G more often. Now with the Nexus, I think it says 3g more.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
dude, you got a samsung! ;D
There have been numerous complaints about the galaxy nexus having a weak radio. Should have stuck with the rezound.
Who let you keep switching out the phone? Usually they only let you switch out a device once.

I was off contract. My contract ended couple weeks ago. They always told me I could return it within 14 days.
I didn't keep the Rezound because I have the Droid Incredible and the Rezound screen didn't seem that much better. No wow factor really. I liked it, just not much better I thought. I liked the ear buds and the 4G. Sense had couple nice things my Incredible doesn't have.
Got Nexus cus it was nicer screen some say. And its ICS. I did see a Rezoumd vs Nexus review and he said Nexus was about 3mbps slower 4G then the Rezound download and about 1 or 2mbps lower on the upload. Some recommend Nexus over Rezound so I thought I would try the Nexus now.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Where I work I get 4G signal on one or two bars, while a coworker on his Galaxy Nexus only get 3G. I guess it has to due with maybe a reception issue on the Galaxy Nexus.
Tbaker, is yer phone a nexus?
I think I'm taking the nexus back and getting the Rezound again today after I wake up. It's 2am pst for me and I go to bed soon.
I play monopoly on my nexus and it has major touch issues and a sound issue too. Didn't have this issue so much with the Rezound when I had it. I'm a bit bugged.
But I like if possible to have ICS no sense on the Rezound.
I'm just bothered by the nexus worse signal and couple other things. So maybe I can get ICS on the Rezound. I do like Senseless ICS though.

That's a lot of phones in a short period of time. Verizon might flag you, and you might get stuck with the GN.

I did alot of reading before pulling the trigger on my upgrade. I was coming from an OG droid , so really wanted an updated phone this time. I figured it was the Gnex from all the hype and being a dev phone etc.. Luckily, I waited a bit and read the forums for the 3 big phones. Saw that the Gnex had alot of radio strength issues, so went with the Rezound because as much as I like to play with the phone it still needs to work for me.
I don't know how much you read prior to getting the Gnex , but you could have found out the common issues without having to try it out
Yeah I did read the engadget reviews on the nexus and saw a video comparing the nexus and resound. Every article or review basically said the nexus was the one to get. The video guy said and showed the nexus was 3mb slower on the 4g download and 1 or 2 mb slower on 4g upload.
I'm taking the nexus back. I can't stand the touch issues in monopoly and right now I hate the nexus keyboard. Its pausing every couple letters really bad. Plus I don't like how low the speaker is cus I listen to the bible when I go to bed. Nexus sounds poor and lower volume.
But what I don't like about the Resound is how it is so similar to my incredible. The screen doesn't seem much better then my incredible. But it may if it ran ics without sense. That possible with a rom? I liked the 4g and speaker wàs OK. Included earbuds were nice except kept falling out my ears lol. Plus rezound is $100 cheaper then the nexus. Yet still includes the ear buds.

That means every thing looks good when you don't have it, but when you do have it, it isn't worth the hype.
In other words, buyer's remorse.
You don't think the screen is much better than the incredible? Either you are blind or you got a bad screen. I had an incredible the amoled one even, the screens aren't even comparable, if you want to compare screens compare it to the nexus and the rezound still wins.
Oh ok lol.
I got the rezound again few hrs ago. I'm just noticing an anti glare type coating on the rezound screen. I notice stuff on the whole screen when looking at it from an Angle. Really buggs me. I hate anti glare coating on anything and I prefer the clear screens of tv, monitor etc even with glare. What I am referring to looks a lot like anti glare coating.
The 4g signal though it for sure better then the nexus.

Thinking about trading my EVO in for a Samsung Galaxy S3 before my 30 days is up. My past 3 phones were made by HTC. LOVED them all. Only Samsung phone I ever owned was the Instinct. I had a chance to play with the new galaxy. I used to have the first epic, then the epic touch. Honestly, New tw4 is awful to me, makes ics way ugly and bloated. Sense is pretty good, other than multitasking. Personally, I wouldn't get the new gs3 unless there was a way stable cm9 for it.
Yes, I know that with source it is very much possible, but, just like with gs2, there's no real profile and prl update option. I've noticed that over time, network performance degrades big time when compared to other devices.

Are there any advantages/disadvantages?
Do you think it's a even trade?

Its not nearly as bad as you would think. You get use to the size in about a week. Then any other Phone feels like a little toy. One thing for sure, one you watch some videos on YouTube on the note, you'll never want to watch then on anything else.

I use the spen for quick notes when I am in a call or a quick thought. Watch YouTube like a fiend on the huge screen. Also use it like any great new phone and stream music to 3 different BT devices. The battery life can be hit or miss at times but i have an extra battery and an 8100 maH battery pack to charge with.

Do you want to go for a note 1? It's a 1000 times better to go for note 2. I had been using htc 1x but did not like the idea of unlocking the bootloader stuff from htcdev. So sold it within 1week of purchase as I bought 2nd hand.
Note 2 is really nice if you can come to terms with the massive screen. Display of note 2 is better than 1. Htc one x screen is nicer but smaller.
Major difference is the battery which runs out for 1x within a day of moderate usage. Whereas note2 lives to almost 2.5 to 3 days.
1x overheating is a major pblm. Note 2 never clocks more than 32 deg but 1x shoots to almost 45 deg normally.

I've been slowly making the switch from my Verizon Note 2 to the HTC One on T-Mobile and I've quickly learned a few things.
1. That initial realization that the Note just can't be compared to any other standard sizes phone. There is no way I could say either the One or the Note is better just because they were designed for two completely different ways of use. But the only thing I'm going to miss from Samsung is the multi-window feature. I'll live without the pen.
2. Removable storage. there was something really convenient about being able to swap SD cards depending on my day. I have a music card and a video card that I would switch out if I was going to work or just vegging on the couch while beaming videos to the tv.
I've seen many times people talking about switching phones and almost immediately coming back to the Note, but there's a more specific switch I had to make in my daily routine to make me not want to come running back. I mean, the One is in no way a small phone, but when set next to the Note, it looks like a 4.3 inch phone. That's where I'm having to make the switch. The fact the my phone needs to be a phone is where the One becomes a better fit for me.
TLDR Peace yall. I'm moving to the HTC One.

What do you mean the phone needs to be a phone?
Were you having signal issues or something?

Yeah, HTC, and Verizon did such a good job keeping the rezound, and the thunderbolt up to date. I hope that this works out for you. I will say that Ihave htc phones, and this one, and the signal isn't that much better. Plus I have never had this phone go into bacon mode like my 6 rezounds.
Today, young ,men on acid realize that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciences sharing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are just imaginations of ourselves And now to the weather.....

Sounded like he was being sarcastic. The rezound took forever to be updated to ics. I had it months before Verizon updated it. I sold the phone before it got that update. Lol I love HTC but the Note owns the One in real world use. But to each their own

I left Verizon in April this year and made that stupid decision to try tmobile again. In fact I too had the HTC one. I loved the phone, so smooth. I just couldn't live with spotty coverage and no signal at my office. I came back to Verizon this month and have the note 2. Everyone tells me that I sound so much clearer and louder than how I sounded on the HTC one. Plus my husband HATED when I was on blue tooth with the HTC one, he said it sounded like I was talking behind a grinder or a blender with rocks in it. Not the case with the note2, very clear. Plus the final straw was not receiving text messages and missing dozens of calls even with a signal. You will be back to Verizon, trust me it's worth every penny!

Two things, both personal opinions:
1. HTC sucks
2. Tmob sucks more than HTC.
The HTC one actually performs very well, just not sure if every HTC one is plagued with poor sound quality with calls. Since I got the note 2 I can't see how I survived with anything smaller. Great screen, love the multi-task feature and the s pen. And yes, t-mobile does suck.

Thats what i am thinking about doing what do you guys think?
It seems like there are a few concerns. first a slightly smaller screen.... But i might be ok with that. i have a nexus 7 LTE if i want a bigger screen.
No sd card.... its a concern but i never use that much space anyways.
None removable battery. Maybe my biggest issue. as i have a 6400 and a 9300 batter for my note 2. I dont use them all the time but they are nice to have.
My biggest reason to get a new phone is the better camara. i have a 19 month old at home and my favorite thing to do is take pictures. The cpu upgrade would be sweet also.
*EDIT*
if this patch locked the bootloader i am leaving verizon
This question may have been asked already but I made the exact change and I could not be happier. Don't get me wrong I loved the Note 2 and was waiting for the 3 and then this phone came out. It basically has similar internals except for the ram, removable battery and sd slot. All of which are for personal preference.
As far as real life this phone easily makes the day for me. To me the camera is great. It is already rooted. With the verizon coupon I got it for $140 over the Internet. You really can't go wrong. Just my 2 cents.

Since you had the note 2 like me, can u easily use the g2 one handed now?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I can use it with ease. My wife has the S4 and I did not want to get that. The G2 works great with one handed operation.

Coming from a note 2 and lumia 928. Sold them both. The G2 (imo) destroys them both. (Imo) I dint have ANY of the issues I see must complaints about here on the boards. It keeps getting better every day.

Ex-Note 2 and HTC One user here. Got the G2 and couldn't be happier. The only reason you should stick with the Note 2 (or get the Note 3) is if you use the stylus a lot. The G2's smaller screen is not an issue because it's a higher resolution and just looks awesome. It's 4:13PM right now...I streamed about 3 hours worth of music using LTE through Google Play to my bluetooth headphones, studied my PDF textbook for about 30 minutes, and did about 30 minutes of web browsing and my G2 is only down to 84%. Best battery life I've ever had in a phone :good:
I might be getting a G2 too
ex note 2 user here, my friend is asking me every day to sell it to him, i may let it down when the G2 hit our local stores.
