I've been using winmo for a while, and the only thing i've noticed is that its applications - or better, most of the ones i've tried - do not look so good.
They are usually pretty squared, no nice to see interface, no sounds nice.
I mean, come on, HTC is able to put an interface like TF, so it seems that smooth angles, curves and nice icons can be installed.
The comparison is unfair, though: in fact, the other therm for the comparison is the list of the Apple's App.
i mean, i've seen GTA for ipod touch, and it was.. amazing!! And it even didn't need a keybord to work!!
Of coruse you pay for most of them, but they are usually stunning things to look at application:and i've thought: why don't we list the better looking ones - doesn't care if they're useful - for windowsmob??
Gameloft application are not so good either for our phones, are they?
However, I have some:
Pac-man ( well, keyboard needed )
DiVX Player
Youtube
Fim
Chaotic Antibiotic -pay
K-RALLY - pay
Black Core Logic - pay
Opera Mobile 10 ( thanks to jannemann22 ) great interface
Might and Magic - pay
touch weather -(pay/sharewere)
weel -(free)
world cup 2010 app
metro calc -(free)
roadSMS/transparent SMS -(free)
..
this is reserved.
opera mobile 10! it does have an amazing interface

this is a GREAT TRUTH, i hate the fact that the winmo apps aren't look "beauty"
i think that the iphone style is really ugly, winmo must be oriented to the "lateral sliding/page scrolling" imho
in my searches for a nice stuff on display i find
-touch weather (pay/sharewere)
-weel (game) (free)
-some sense oriented app (but they don't fit with winmo classic layout) like shopping list, sense task, 19 (a student game) (all free)
-the perfect design was on a world cup 2010 app, really cool.. i like a lot of app like that (free from mobile practices)
- metro calc (free)
-roadSMS/transparent SMS (free), another way that the "nice apps" have to be... clear graphics, and camera background (but a solid color could be cool too)
ps
this thread is really intersting. i am not searching for the best functionality or to iphonish my smartphone... but i'd like to spot at something i really love when look at my mobile!
i'm looking for apps all around the gamers' websites, like handango, glu etc.. when i'll be able to find other nicelookin apps, i'll be posting. ( soon )

Well, I broke down over the weekend and bought the Touch Pro from Bell Canada.
Not sure which UI I prefer yet, the Touchflo or the Bell UI.
I would like to hear others recommendations for the UI to use.
I like both UI's personally. The Bell one is fast and has a few items at your fingertips, like Sports, Market news, World news, etc.
The fact that it wraps your program list and settings in its own menu system is nice, as well as the Contacts, which is really well done.
But i still find myself going back to TF3D only because you can tweak it, its got better visual presentation (like the media player and picture browser), and always gives you something to do with your phone when you have nothing really to do with it (just scrolling around is more enjoyable on it).
The Bell UI seems more utilitarian, which is its aim.
Once the UI can be tweaked (because i hate the default color scheme), then maybe ill switch. That, and more custom bubbles (if possible) for things like RSS feeds, a better stock ticker with a graph possibly, more news stories, etc.
Pocket Express sucks, which hurts it.
Tocuh Pro Bell
hi
I would like to know if there is any way to remove the bell UI or pocket express n just use the normal htc windows programs instead of the bell ones ... if so let me know please ..
thanks
Click on start, then settings, then today and then items. Remove the check mark form Bell UI. Check Touchflo 3d. Your done.
Since the day the Galaxy s came I've fallen in with loved Touchwiz as matter of fact it is one of the reason i will not be trading in my Vibrant for Nexus s, well until touchwiz is ported nexus s at least.
But I've notice others with vibrant and other galaxy s phones hate Touchwiz and i want to know why? Please leave response as to why you love or hate touchwiz?
I like some things about TouchWiz...but...
its not customisable
the icons are too big and iphone-like
a lot of screen real estate is lost because everything on the homescreen is too big (should have grids of 5x5 instead of 4x4)
I like the app drawer...jumping to screens when clicking the small dots etc
and its quite fast for me
I really like touchwiz to. I tried launcher pro and adw and i really didnt like them. But i did just installed nero from tw and the gingerbread launcher is sweet.
Fear the beard...
For me it's not so much the TW Launcher as it is the widgets. I've found that I really use Feeds & Updates and Daily Briefing quite a lot, and though there are vaguely comparable ones, none of them have grabbed me.
The notification bar is also unique and extremely useful, so much so that Cyanogen largely copied it.
I think the biggest reason why people hate Touchwiz is because it has been blamed for much of the initial lagginess of the phone. Now we know this is largely not true.
It's childs play to use another launcher however, and people may prefer widgets that do not bind to TW. To each his own, which is the true beauty of Android.
What I don't like about TouchWiz:
-the page indicator on top can't be turned off or set to auto-hide
-the dockbar icon labels don't match the rest of the UI (they don't have black bubbles around the text, it looks mismatched)
-cannot change the number of rows on homescreens
-no swipe actions (ADW ruined me for swiping down anywhere on the screen to get the notification pulldown)
-no activities shortcuts (Wireless AP requires a shortcut!)
-seems to run slower/laggier than ADW or launcherpro
What I do like about TouchWiz:
-FEEDS AND UPDATES
-FEEDS AND UPDATES
-FEEDS AND UPDATES
Soooo much better than the Facebook widget...
Edit: I use ADW.Launcher myself and love it. I really miss Feeds & Updates though.
The app drawer can not scroll like a stock android launcher.
The docks can not be customizable to the level Android allows.
The icons look like an iPhone - AND I hate scrolling left to right (and I dont like the view for scrolling up/down)
I switch ROMs often, TW does not backup it's settings like LP/ADW can.
Other than those things, TW is great... I also prefer the widgets that come with LauncherPro Plus and the speed/customizations that it allows. TW COULD be able to duplicate those features..... but until it does, no thanks.
I love touchwiz. Love the left to right scrolling of the app drawer.love the look and feel. Love the icons. The dock icons are custamizable. This is one reason i dont like custom roms without touchwiz because i love it sooo much.
Things i hate. You cant hide the notification bar and it starts to Burn into your screen. Errrr
It's the iPhone clone look that turns me off. It was bad enough that the samsung made the phone look physically like an iPhone, but to skin Android to look like the iPhone's software was over the top. I don't want people to think I have an iPhone.
youre right

i got tired of the ipod touch i had and it resembles the ipod touch iphone too much for me. plus i dont like lines on my screen. i use adw and minimalist theme with black background, totally awesome for me. i can do with out the non sense.
"I love that Google is innovating the Smartphone technology space at an amazing rate. Android is growing fast and holds so much promise. For instance Google voice actions which I am sure you are all familiar with is such a great idea and I cant wait to use it with 2.2. The updated Gmail client and services as well, Chrome to phone are both awesome ideas but will never work on 2.1 so I am looking forward to 2.2 or higher. I own a car and well I do take calls while driving and would like to use voice search or voice dialing to be hands free. Obviously Android can do this just not with 2.1 this is a pretty cool feature also available on 2.2 or higher. What Samsung has done with Touchwiz is pretty cool too. Let's face it Google is perhaps innovating the space a bit too fast. Samsung has developed Touchwiz not only to slow that hectic innovation down. But, perhaps stall it completely on Samsungs devices that way we can enjoy 2.1 with Touchwiz just a little bit longer. It also sets the Galaxy S devices apart from all the other Android smartphones in the market running Google's latest innovations. But also because we like it and it is so good.
That new android Keyboard for Gingerbread is just what the Doctor ordered isn't it? How about the new Google personalized voice recognition for Google voice? Nice, but no thanks I like taking it slow with Touchwiz and 2.1. Who needs location services and GPS anyway right? What are your favorite 2.1 features?" - by Countbunny from the other forum.
That is how I feel about it.
I'm fairly new to the android seen with not much knowledge in this area at all i think the last time I played with a phone was a SE w810i when i flashed it :L, however i played a lot with a couple of iPod touches, jailbreaking them modding them etc.
So, i have no intentions of doing this whole ROOT thing to my phone YET but i will be when i have gotten used to the phone and explorered android enough to feel ok to ROOT it and explore and exploit my phone to my liking.
I do realise I could have took a smarter option when it came to buying an android but I always love SE phones so a combo of the two has me well chuffed....
so i'm just wondering
app wise
game wise
theme wise
accessory wise
I love them small addictive flash games like doodle jump, angry birds, i love my phones theme looking good/beautiful/awesome.
I love having lot's of wallpapers, abstract, carbon, matte and black mostly,
I love my music and SE's range of accessories
I love all those HTC widgets and the desire so any widgets that resemble them as much as possible would be much appreciated, for I.e. pre patched fancy widget that mimmicks the exact copy of HTC's weather widget clock, i have launcher pro plus for the messages, facebook and contact widgets, but are there others that mimmick HTC's interface almost exactly?
I love messing about with the cool camera effect apps
also what browser do you use on your android or Xperia?
You should find some extra info on http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Xperia_X10_Mini
Things I find very cool: Alarmdroid, led light, swiftp, terminal, busybox, sshd, original calendar, skype, gtalk.
Well done on your purchase, you already made the best first step by coming to XDA heaps of friendly helpful people on here.
I like "Beautiful Widgets" Clock and Weather widgets... you can download heaps of different Clocks and Weather icons.. (including HTC Sense style clocks)
Vignette is the best Image effects program I have found (funky old camera effects and frames)
Smartkeyboard Pro is a pretty good text input option
Z4root for rooting (really simple one click application to gain root) when your ready for that.. go on! don't be scared!
then.. Titanium Backup, Root explorer.. etc
You have already discovered Launcher Pro, thats a good step.. not as easy to theme as ADW Launcher but still the Home screen of choice by most people because of its speed and Battery usage. (I use Launcher Pro plus too)
The Music player on the X10mini/pro is a bit crap.. there are some good ones out there, I use Meridian but Cube (3) is also pretty cool, I am sure there are others if you look around.
And a few good games..
Angry Birds (of course)
Abduction
Fruit Ninja
Monkey Kick (simple but fun)
2 player Reactor is great if you want to play with your partner or friends when your bored.
too many to list but thats a start for you..
Hope that helps and welcome to the X10mini/pro threads! happy reading/playing.

KEYBOARDS
Keyboard From Android 2.3+ (Gingerbread Keyboard) - Even with the release of the Gingerblur Beta that incorporates the Gingerbread keyboard - I keep coming back to this one. This keyboard is identical to the actual Gingerbread keyboard, but allows for the keyboard to be configured to your liking (key height, row spacing etc.) which can result in a much larger, easier to type keyboard. There is also a free version, but the free version does not allow key customization. Also comes with different themes. Best keyboard IMO.

Free Version:

Smart Keyboard Pro - The most options, self calibration, HIDE THE SMILEY KEY and gesture support. Best keyboard out now. Better IMO than Gingerbread keyboard and Swiftkey.
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.cdeguet.smartkeyboardpro&feature=search_result
Swiftkey - Keyboard that learns from you and attempts to predict whole words and sentences. Works really well, if the whole prediction thing is your thing. I still prefer to tap things out manually, but this certainly gave the Gingerbread keyboard a run for its money. Would be much better if you could resize the keys - but is still definitely worth a try.

Couple questions for you pros:
1. do you guys use a task manager type app for managing running apps? ...some apps i have kind of start from scratch if i log back in after leaving it..so would be nice to have an app mgr i think?
2. I have a gas app for prices, but would love to see something integrated into the google maps app so its a one stop shop...any way to do that? also the nav is great but the voice is BLEH...any way to sub it?
3. Is tapatalk worth the purchase..it's only a couple bucks but i haven't actually paid for any apps yet...i guess its hard to buy an app before you've even tried it. i think all apps should offer at least a short free trial, even if its one day

Regarding question #1, the Atrix has a built in Task Manager that also has an auto-end feature.

But really i am looking for something that helps me get back into a running app without starting from the home screen of it
perfect example, i hit the tapatalk icon to get back to xda forum and i had to start all over rather than go to where i was just a minute ago before

Smart Keyboard Pro - The most options, self calibration, HIDE THE SMILEY KEY and gesture support. Best keyboard out now. Better IMO than Gingerbread keyboard and Swiftkey.

LAUNCHERS
ADW Ex - My personal favorite launcher just because it's quite customizable, sizeable widgets, sizeable grid size, customizable app drawer, hidden dockbar etc.

Launcher Pro – Reliable, smooth, fast. Lots of customization options and transition effects work flawlessly on the Atrix. Also, Launcher Pro Plus (the paid version) has its own sense-like widgets.

Elixir - Elixir is a system information application with highly configurable widgets

Green Power Premium - Perhaps the most useful application/utility on my phone right now. Turns off data connection for a user set interval when the phone is locked. Voice and text messages are unaffected. What results is significant battery savings. Not only can you set off/on, you can set thresholds for signals i.e. bad signal = no connect to data. I'm getting about 1.5 DAYS of use with my phone. Bewae though, problems arise with 3rd party launchers. I'm running the Gingerblur and it is flawless right now.

I've been using "Battery Monitor Free" by Simmo and it's been working quite well. I like the widget better than Circle Battery as it shows temperature and voltage as well. Just a personal preference deal though probably, both show 1% increments and seem to be accurate in doing so.
Also, I would like to warn anyone installing via Appbrain, the Appbrain market application has some sort of weird leak so that it accounts for 15% of battery loss. It also will constantly restart itself if ended, so there really is no option besides an uninstall unless you like shorter battery life.
If you really want to have a game list, you probably want another topic, but regardless you should at least include Fruit Ninja ^^
Alchemy is another fun little game.
In terms of communication apps:
imo beta is a great mass-IM application, having MSN, Skype, Facebook, GChat, etc support. However, it is still beta so there are occasionally bugs. I would recommend it though if you like to use Skype along with other protocols, as it is the only IM app that I've found to also support Skype.
eBuddy is also nice, having the same tab layout and such, though it doesn't have Skype support. It's more stable at the moment than the beta imo release however. I use it as a backup.
setCPU is one of the obvious must-have root apps, being that you can underclock for battery saving whether you're doing simple tasks or just have your screen off.
Evernote is a must-have notetaking app, with syncing to your desktop application and website, image and voice notes, and some nice sharing features.
Weatherbug is a nice weather app, it has a good GUI and nice notification temperature deal. Does not have any noticeable effect on battery life in my experience. I've heard some negative things about the paid version however, so I would watch out.
Just a few.
