Im very sorry if this thread has been started already. Does anybody have a flashible stock vibrant kernal file. Im thinking about ditching lagfix and check out kingskernal. I would like the stock kernal as backup though.

Find stock 2.2 files in dev section, make sure their like a odin, but you can find some that are flashable, you'll, just be rooted and on stock, nothing else if you flash
just do the instructions above..if any problem just come back to this post
Was just wondering of this was possible. A friend doesn't want anything custom on his vibrant but wants the speed of voodoo. Is it possible?

Click to collapse
yes, its possible.
He must root though.
He has to root, and install the clockwork recovery, then using clockwork recovery flash a kernel WITH VOODOO and then hes done.
Make sure to flash the correct kernels per firmware.
like..
most of the kernels you see on dev section are for 2.2+
2.1 kernels are on a thread made by supercurio about VOODOO kernels, im on a phone and cannot search so i'll leave it to you.
Pretty sure you don't need root to flash the appropriate stock+voodoo kernel in Odin via download mode.

From a newly rooted eclair 2.1, can I safely flash 2.3 miui rom variants without flashing the overstock kernel 1.5 from Miui Guide stickies assuming I already flashed CWR via ROM Manager?

Yes. You should... Not sure why you wouldn't use the method in my guide though. It's a much quicker process...

Maybe I'm an idiot and missed it somewhere or maybe it doesn't exist, but I'm looking for the stock Vibrant Odin files for 2.2. I have to ones for 2.1, but I hate having to use Kies to bring it back to 2.2. Any help would be appreciated.
What I use is Eugene's 2.2 Froyo ODIN which can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833024&page=49
It will also automatically root.
The link is gone from that thread. Anywhere else I can find it at?

Try Whitehawkx's stock froyo rom (deodexed and Odin versions):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036193
Hopefully, the links still work.
Just out of curiosity, why are you trying to go to stock 2.2?

Thats the best place to flash most roms from isn't it? I am on my 3rd and my wife is on her 2nd and we both have vibrants. Thanks for the link.

As far as I know, its 2.1.
So basically I am going to cm9 kernal and was just wondering how I can backup/restore the stock kernal in case something goes wrong with new one?
And if you could show me a website with specific instructions on how to flash the new kernal I would really appreciate it
Thanks in advance
