[Q] cant unroot vibrant. - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I've been trying to unroot my vibrant to return but every time I input the rm -r /system/app/Superuser.apk commands along with all the other commands all I get is an error stating its read only memory. How do unroot my phone?? Thanks for any help

You could try downloading the one-click lag fix from the market. It has a built in un-root.

Search "lagfix" in the market..... the author is "RyanZA"

i dont have app market access is there another way to get the lag fix for unrooting?

just download the oneclickroot file from the vibrant "Bible" it has an unroot option.
Just amazed at how many people dont know about it.

I also had this issue when I had gotten froyo. The only thing that worked for me was the one click root from TGA_gunnman's thread.

it takes away root access (like the phone was before you rooted)...
more specifically, it takes away these files(which it added when you used the root option and flashed the update.zip from recovery):
/system/app/Superuser.apk
/system/xbin/busybox
/system/bin/su
But what if im on a custom rom

then a lot of the functionality from your custom ROM wouldn't work. I've never tried it but I can already tell that bad things will happen.
Why are you thinking about unrooting? Rooting gives nothing but benefits, it'll give disadvantages to users who are new to rooting but you'll become more comfortable with it.
If something is wrong with your phone, just end up using Odin and setting it back to stock. Odin isn't that scary to use either.

Original oneclick root app

I need the original one click root app. It was taken off the market. The one you can root w/o PC. I had that on my 1st vibrant.
Any help please!!

Please use Google before posting threads like this.
Google will show you the xda thread where you can download the app. Also, if you're running any 2.2 Rom, the old root methods no longer work.

Oclf is there, use it

The thing is rooted ..there shouldnt be questions about this...but try an app that needs root access and se if superuser pops up asking to allow

Download an app like titanium backup and see if a pop up for superuser comes up. Or download a terminal app and type su. If you get a # you are rooted.
There should be an app in your app drawer called "Superuser"....
If you got that then you're rooted
Thank you guys. I have rooted my Vibrant with one click and it works yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not really. He could have that App downloaded from the market but since he doesn't have root he wouldn't be able to run it. But it would still be there.
get app from market... Root Checker... i rooted with Superoneclick and it said I was rooted, but really wasn't, took a dozen reboots and 4 more tries with Superoneclick to get it.
If you don't have an app called SUPERUSER! your not rooted!!
yeah I usually look to see if the app "superuser" is installed...

[Q] lost root after virusrom install?

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone can answer this for me.
I'm rooted or at least was and installed virusrom and drod kernel and now when
I go Into titanium to back things up it says I don't have root access. I'm using the senseless Rom as well. Is this a superuser issue or a bug in virus?
Thanks for your help in advance.

search for SU fix in the dev forum and apply that
bottom of first post is the link for download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=886999
Are you sure that works with the senseless Rom? Thanks for the reply by the way.
Also just tried that anyway but titanium still says no root access. Anyone?

Click on problems on the bottom of titanium and let it download busybox. That should solve your problem.
thanks a lot! i did that already before the new rom... do i have to reinstall busybox after any wipe and new rom?
Generally speaking you probably will. Titanium can be picky about busybox sometimes and there is no assurance that the version installed with the new rom will work with it. Re-installing it from inside titanium seems to solve 95% of problems.

Nobody who knows how to obtain SU on the dmtech tablet 723b? as stated before, rootchecker says it has root.. but no SU-apps work..
PLZ help
Id happily give all info and files needed for finding a solution to this. This is a cheap and common tablet so i think there are many ppl who own and use it.
Managed to get partial root and su thru superoneclick, but get errors when using i.e. luckypatcher and/or rom toolbox. =(
