Thanks for the info angel.
Looks like there has been more background work than I thought. Makes me very happy.

Well, they've since updated with a new file, we'll see if that's correct or not. If it is, we can't really blame them. We downloaded the file hours before they officially announced it.
Now if this new file is still wrong, after they've announced it, then we can give them crap, but lets wait and see.

Koush tweeted at about 0130 est looking for people with Fascinates to join his freenode IRC channel. I would assume he's actively working it since unrevoked 3.21 had been finialized and released.

I was wondering about some of the devs on here on what the status of compiling the custom kernel? I know there was issues with defconfig being left out by Samsung but someone overcame the issue but then it went all quiet. I was curious if everyone was waiting when 2.2 launches on Black Friday to finish a custom kernel or if something else is going on.

Well if you're concerned with it and want to keep up on the latest and greatest... just go hang out in freenode #samsung-fascinate instead of posting a thread requesting people to update you with the status of a custom kernel.
http://github.com/jt1134/linux-2.6-fascinate/commits/OC/
it compiles
Are we still looking at the aries rev02 as the defconfig?

Not everyone likes hanging out in irc. What's the difference between asking that question here rather than irc?

I believe so.
I have been wondering the same thing. I understand that 2.2 is the latest and greatest, but what's stopping people from building 2.1 ROMS and showing off their awesome work while we wait?
Also I don't see why it's a big deal to ask about the kernel here, last time I checked this was the development section and "development" on the kernel went hush hush. Also IMO IRC is too busy and cluttered for my liking.
to answer the point of this post yes there are custom kernels
BTW guys im not going to post any links bc i havent ask. but if you go to #samsung-fascinate irc channel there are a couple of OC'd custom kernels floating around, so give or take another day or 2 and they will be all over the place. thanks to jt and dirrk
Do the custom kernels have any other optimizations? The phone is fast enough at 1 ghz.
not yet i dont beleive, they got it to compile which was apparently a feat in itself so just a little bit longer and we should be ready for things to switch into high gear. if you go into the irc room you can test out some of the kernel and im sure that they wouldnt care a bit

At this point it really doesn't matter to me who gets things working but it would be nice if people could cooperate and not get into mud slinging and that sort of thing.
Internet fame is a silly thing. At the end of the day no one knows who someone's handle really is in real life and they don't care, they just want a decently functioning ROM for their device.

Hw acceleration......make the flashable please
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
I for one am glad to see that progress is being made. If it take's the Devs time to co-ordinate a release, that's all good. Consider that the TouchPad has ICS, and in a state that is serviceable for many apps. When the HW accel is available, it will just make it sweeter.
Not bad for a $149/$99 tablet, IMHO.
This thread is a place for devs to geeks out about the progress (and issues) related to getting the RIL working on CM9 for the HTC Rezound. Hopefully dmeadows013, JoelZ9614, & scotty1223 (plus any devs I missed) will start posting here on this topic.
The idea behind dev threads is for devs to post work they have commenced on. Not for us to set up a soapbox and expect the orators to come there.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
You may want to take out "[ROM] [UNOFFICIAL]" from the thread name, and you may want to get this moved to general. Even more so, this thread serves no purpose, really. Us regular people would have nothing to contribute, and the devs are already helping each other however they can. Give it time and the ril will work.

Radio Interface Layer - basically the code that allows for communication between the radio hardware in the phone and the Android OS. Without a working RIL we have the ROM that dmeadows013 has (so amazingly and kindly) built for us that can function as a "mini android tablet" without a working data/voice connection.
