Like the title says... i want to downgrade to 2.1 again because 2.2 is not what i want.. i use Froydvillian newest version and want to go to a 2.1 custom rom.
one of the 2 problems is that i am not sure if this will go good with google and more.
the other one is that i want to keep my contacts and sms...
Hope u guys can help me
1) synchronize contacts with google contacts, and You are all set
2) regarding SMS/mms try using titanium backup, or my backup pro. Although I'm not sure if they transport messages between 2.2 and 2.1
Hope this helps.
cheers

Can i use a backup by my telephone contacts? or not? or how to backup with google contacts?
TY for ur help
In titanim backup there is a
[Contacts] in green. But there is also note, that it's for 2.1 update 1. So I'm not totaly sure about that.
But if Your contacts are not PHONE, but GOOGLE, simple synchronizing after flashing a new rom should be enough
try looking at google.com/contacts using Your google login to check if there are Your contacts there
if not - there are couple of apps that could help You with exporting Your contacts from Your phone to the "Cloud". It's convenient, You don't have to worry about backups.
Regarding SMS - it's the same situation. green [SMS/MMS] field in titanium. but it COULD be rom specific (so no migration 2.2 <-> 2.1), but I'm not sure, as I haven't tried that yet.
if You need more help, let me know
i have made a backup with my phone and gained a vcard, can i use that to?
and what is faster and works smoother 2.1/2.2?
I haven't tried any 2.2 ROM's, so sorry, can't help You there
I'm sure, that You can import csv and vcards in google contacts.
In 2.1 sense I see option to import vcards from SD card.
perhaps You could wait for someone more experienced with 2.2

why android 2.2.1 no timescape and backup&restore one????
anyone can giv me this 2 apk for android 2.2.1...
Excuse me please, what? Nobody want such things in Froyo. Sony made no version for Froyo because they don't want to supply the Xperia X10 with Froyo.
Forgot such crap apps.

Oh dear.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
If you want this crappy features try the stock SE rom
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
There is no version of Timescape or Mediascape that will work with 2.2.
You will have to use 2.1 if you actually want to use the SE bloatware.

LMAO!! Timescape? Dude... are you okay? ^^
LOL ^^ That's really funnny ^^
for backup&restore you have xRecovery
agree with my austrian friend, who posted before me
no one likes that laggy **** app, called time/mediascape
backup & restore apps are free in the market..
its so laggy, and drains so much battery. why do you want that?
If you really want SE's junk then go back to stock rom. Though I cant see why someone would want to do that..

did you make a backup on xrecovery first before your new rom? Make another backup of your current situation, then go back to prior backup, save contacts to your sd card (which you should always do anyway) by clicking the menu button while in your contacts app and clicking "export", then to sd card. Then go to the most recent backup, go into contacts app again and click import from sd card. Voila, all fixed...
everybody hate it! LOL....
even on my stock 2.1 rom, i've deleted mediascape and use the original gallery and music player instead
If only Timescape was more optimized, it could have been a great app. I mean you have to admit, it is aesthetically pleasing.
i must agree
the eye candy is really nice to look at
just that the laggin it brings is unbearable
It has nothing to do with Froyo, you couldn't install Timescape, Mediascape and Backup and Restore on 2.1 AOSP either. They're signed to only work on SE ROM. You will have to reinstall a ROM based on stock-SE firmware and backup your contacts in another way.
Easiest way is to sync contacts with google account, so they'll be automatically restored on every ROM when you sign into your account. Other way is to export them into a vcf-file on your SD card, like someone said before.
I don't really know about backing up messages, but there are lot of free apps on the market to backup and restore these. Just don't use Titanium Backup, since it caused force closes on message apps for some people after restoring the messages.

Hi,
I have a question which might seem too stupid or trivial.
I am currently running CM 7.1.0 ROM on my Legend. I would like to flash ogo2's Gingerbread ROM while restoring all apps and messages/contacts.
Can somebody help me with the procedure of backing up apps and messages, then flashing the new ROM, then restoring all apps/messages
I have no idea for messages since it doesn't care for me.
If you are not going to format/clean your SD card Titanium backup can be helpful for saving applications with data.
The only app you will need to install is Titanium and it restore applications+appsdata for you after flashing.
Make a backup/restore test drive before proceed with flashing.
For keeping your messages there's some apps in market that might help you, haven't tried them though.

Hi, when i did my root and flashed brand new rom, I used 3 things, I used visionary+ temp root then used Titanium Back for all my apps, I used Go SMS Pro to backup all my sms/mms, and for contacts, I used the built in export contacts to .vcf file the good thing about this is if your contacts are stored on phone (not sim) and you have more than one contact for each name + contact pictures associated they fully restore (so long as you leave the pictures alone on SDcard. If you use only sim for contacts, I have found that you can have problems, only storing the default cantact number, no picture association after backup and restore (lost a whole heap of contacts that way).
How ever, since gaining a lot more knowledge, apparantly you can actually use Titanium to backup your contacts and sms/mms as well as your apps using the "backup system data" from the batch mode, although I haven't tried this yet, I cannot confirm that it works.
for contacts you can export them to sd card, as for the sms and other apps use Titanium Backup
Hi allmighty xda people.
Last night i went from a rooted stock rom to cyanogenmod7. I backed up my data with titanium pro. Also i backed up my phone with kies.
Now i am running CM but i cant restore my contacts from titanium pro. The backup itself has a few csv files which i cant use with gmail to backup because the way samsung has the numbers and names stored is a bit complicated. Please help me get my contacts back!!!
edit:
Here's some more info:
- the CSV files have numbers such as ID and all the phone numbers are on 1 CSV and they are the wrong way around (for example 040987654321 is 123456789040) and the particular CSV does not have names on it. Names are on another CSV.

Dont you just backup your contacts to google? Forget the Kies backup of contacts and just use Google if you can, it's way easier to restore. Sorry I can't help more with your current problem though.

The reason i hadn't synced Gmail contacts is that i used to use my Gmail for 5 years in my previous job on the gaming industry. I had 6 different addresses forwarded to Gmail, including helpdesk, so there are 25 000 contacts in my Gmail account and i do not want them on my phone.
did you end up getting it to work? having a similar issue
Hey there, what exactly happens? Can you even see the "[CONTACTS/CALLS]contacts Storage" in Titanium? Perhaps the "incompatibility" can be caused by having different kernels in stock/CM? The contacts are stored in the "...contacts storage -kernel version-", so perhaps try flashing your original baseband's kernel, restore the files and then flash CM7 kernel back? (or not, I strongly recommend SiyahKernel
Hi all,
I would like to ask you which is the best way to backup my x10mini pro (contacts, sms, mms ...) I dont need to back up apps. I know that this topic should be somewhere there but I was unable to find it.
After backup I would like to install Ginger Bread and restore my data. On my HD2 there is no problem with all that because I have rooted phone, but on the x10 mini pro Iam lost.
Thanks in advice

just hit advanced restore instead of restore with gosms and it will bring you the backuped data to restore
just use superbackup app
hello,
i've upgraded my s3 from stock rom 4.0.4 to Cyanogenmod 10 4.1.2.
now some contacts got lost, i tried importing them from my nandroid backup over titanium backup pro.
After importing my contacts application crashes though so i had to delete all contact data.
is there any program to open contacts2.db which displays the contacts in a nice, readable way?
sorry if this is in the wrong section
Hi,
I am having a similar problem. For some reason not all my contacts were synced up, and I want to recover them.
Were you able to resolve this, if so, how?
Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Search "sqlite" in play store and download one of those sqlite database managers.
If you're using Google contacts, then remove yourself from Google on your phone in settings. That will clear everything.
Then go to google contacts on the web and check if any contacts are missing. If not, just add Google I'd again and let it resync.
If you're not sure or if contacts are missing. Then Google has nifty little feature of reverting contacts to a specific date. Kinda like windows restore. That should get you back on track, then after restore, add the google account to sync and you're set.
