was wondering if there was a reg edit to change how much the volume increases/decreases on one press of the volume buttons... i think it changes three bars on one press of either button, any way of making it one bar per press of the buttons... three is too much, for me anyway...
cheers
Just press one of the volume buttons so that the volume dialog comes up and then use the screen to change the level. You can go up and down 1 bar at a time, rather than 3.
You can have up to 16 levels (instead of 6) with Volumex

Plus other great volume related features.

is there any way to get volume controls in the notification area of cm7? where the no service line used to be would be awesome. ive got the hard keys mod for menu/back on volume controls, so a quick and awesome soft volume control would be awesome.
thanks in advance!
Volumer++ in the market puts a link in the notification bar to volume controls.
I use it since I made my volume buttons Home/back.
Not exactly what you wanted, but maybe close enough.
Quick settings also has a volume option.
As I understand, does mooja mean to have volume control as softkey or button savior instead of menu/back/home
Me too, mooja.

I would love it if it was somehow configurable in CM7 whether you wanted the menu/back buttons or vol+/vol- in the notification bar, and the same for the hard keys. I used to have a Coby tablet and it had the same number of buttons as the nook, but the hard keys on the side were menu/home (the big button on front was "back"). The ROM for the Coby had the vol+/vol- keys in the notification bar, and I thought that worked out perfectly. That was much more convenient than the current setup in CM7 with the menu/back keys in the notification bar.
Is there any way to use the volume rocker to adjust both the main volume and notification volume at the same time? Only the main volume slider moves with the rocker.
I don't know start the icon is called, but if you press the one next to the volume bar when using the volume trucker to change the volume it should show an option for it. At least that what I regent seeing on that screen. I sent my prime in for RMA last Thursday.

When you press the volume rocker, the icon pops up. There is an icon on the volume bar,but it only shows you the 2 separate volumes. There are no options that come up.
The second volume bar controls system notifications I believe.

I'm aware of that. You have to manually slide it with your finger to adjust it though. I want to be able to move the volume rocker and have both volumes adjust at the same time.
Hi everyone
I just changed the screen of my hd2 but when I put the cover the volume button doesn't work.. I can push it with a sharp object (screwdriver, toothpick) so in fact it's not broken but it's a bit boring tu up and down the volume..
I'm on android (ICS) and I want to know if there are any alternative "tweaks" to replace the "real" button ? Like on iPhone when your home button is broken you can download a tweak via cydia..
If someone can help me, it will be great
Thaaanks !
PS : Sorry for my english..
no one know ?
There are widgets and apps that you can use to change volume within Android, but if your device uses the volume buttons for CWM then you'll need the physical buttons working.
Well you should be able to go to your settings and volume options and adjust it that way, alternatively clicking on the clock on the bottom right corner should bring up a menu that volume is normally located.
@spunker88 Yes for cwm I use the physical buttons.. What's the names of the apps and widgets ?
@Bernie Nolan Thanks dude
But the main problem is when I'm doing a phone call I can't up/down the volume..
I use Volume widget, you can select which volume you want to adjust (music, ringer, etc) or have a widget with multiple volume toggles. Its pretty nice and free. During a call you would have to go back to the home screen to change volume.

Thank you I just downloaded an app on the market
Hello all... long time XDA user, not enough time poster... Ok I had the (now to me) infamous power button issue this past weekend. I was able to get my phone going after beating the bejeezus out of it. With that said, I figured I would keep to using the power button to a minimal dosage. What I have is the following- S4 rooted, with ES File explorer installed with the root option enabled, quick boot, wanam, and mylock. The easiest stuff- I set a quick boot widget for power off and one for reboot (so no power buttons for that), I use mylock for locking the phone, wanam- added screenshot to power menu (among other mods that don't pertain to this), and home button for turning phone on (or Volume button- details coming).
I am going to attach a couple of screenshots too...
With ES File Explorer (going for forward, will be labeled ES) go to Device level / scroll down to system, go to usr, and then keylayout, in there go to Generic.kl. Once in there, scroll down to Key 116. Tap the little pencil in the upper screen of ES. Copy the contents of Key 116 - POWER WAKE (I recommend copying so you have all the spaces needed), delete out the key 114 option (I chose Volume Down) and paste that in there. Now you can leave both at POWER WAKE, or you can change 116 to the VOLUME_DOWN if you want to use the power button to turn down the audio. If you blank it out or add other characters it seems to kill the back button and menu button- SO I RECOMMEND TO HAVE SOMETHING THERE. OK good... so moving on-
Hit the back button and click to save the file.
Next-
in the same level as the Generic file, go to gpio-keys.kl).. Scroll down to Key 114 and replace the VOLUME_DOWN with the POWER WAKE that you should still have on your clipboard. Hit the back button and save text.
Final, you will have to reboot your phone in order for the changes to take effect.
Going forward, if you chose to use the power button for volume down, you will no longer be able able to use the power button while the phone is on for power purposes... it will be a volume down button now. Your volume down button will act like the power, so you can bring up the power menu for shut down/screenshots/etc.
To turn the phone one (if it is off), you have a few options... if the power button still works it will power the phone on (it doesn't matter that you have made this mod, it will not allow the volume down to turn a phone on from power off. If the button is shot shot, you can use the micro usb trick to turn it on ( hold down volume down and power, plug it in, then when download comes on put volume down to restart). Or you can use a jig...
Anyway, I hope this helps someone out. Thank you for checking this out.

i have changed the Side Key function to the Power Off menu, but sometimes, i accidentally press the Volume up and power at the same time and end up getting a screenshot. is there any way to change the default key function for screenshot so that I can get it only when I really want one?
