Barnacle update - New error - Vibrant Themes and Apps

Today Sempteber 28, 2010 I received an available update for Barnacle.
Before this update I wasn't getting any errors with "Skip wpa_supplicant" checked and "Custom Wifi Ad-hoc" none.
Now I get the following:
1) If I restart my phone and start barnacle i get absolutely no errors in log and everything is working fine
2) If I stop barnacle and start it again, I see the following red error in my log :
Could not set ad-hoc mode of eth0: Invalid argument
Fialed to set ad-hoc mode
But I can still connect with my laptop and it is working fine, not sure why I started getting this error all the sudden and its pissing me off.

Barnacle is kind of broken for the vibrant.
If you are on one of the stock firmwares (T959UVJFD/JI2/JI4) then I would suggest just flashing MobileAP instead of using barnacle. It works perfectly.

If you aren't able to flash MobileAP then I recommend Wireless Tether over Barnacle.
It has been reported that the newest update is working fine.
UPDATE:
I just tested the latest package (wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre9.apk) and it works just fine.
Although I still recommend MobileAP instead if you're able to flash it.

Eugene and sombionix have also included mobile AP into their builds, so there's no need to flash if you're running Frankin-Twiz or Bionix

WMWifiRouter & Verizon 6800 Help

So I'm trying to get WMWifiRouter to work on my Verizon 6800, but it reports this to me whenever I click Start ICS:
Error: Failed to init NAT driver
I have tried copying over ipnat.dll, intshare.dll, and initshrui.exe, which when I run and click Connect a pop up displays
Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To change your connection settings, tap Settings.
Can anybody link me to a how to or help me with how to get this stuff to work. Thanks.
I can't help you, since I haven't installed it. But in case you didn't know, Version 1.2 will be commercially available in August and should be much more stable.

No USB mode options after root, and WiFi Tether install?

I rooted my D3, then installed the Wifi tether (wifi_tether_v3_1-beta6.apk - android-wifi-tether - WiFi Tether for Root Users 3.1-beta6 *** BETA *** - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting). while installing this i was met with " This will install over another something.". stupid me, i hit OK. and now when ever i plug the phone into my laptop the USB mode options no longer pop up on the phone. Also, the Wifi tether nor the Wired tether work.
So now im currently stuck in the "Charge Only" mode.
Anyone have any ideas. I went searching for the USB mode menu in the settings, but never found them.
Nadda, Niltch, Nothing?
I'm trying to give the benefit of the doubt and think maybe i put this in the wrong place?
Well i'm getting some help over at Droid-forums, but cant post the url with lower than 8 posts...
Can't find your thread @ Droid Forums, but need your answer!

[Q] Problems with Open Garden Teather

I recently rooted my i777 using Entropy512's Return/Unbrick to Stock, Kernel + Rooted System Package with Modem using Odin3 One-Click Downloader then did the over the air upgrade to KK6 2.3.6 with no problems. When I connect my laptop via Open Garden the inital connection works by very soon after, while I still maintin connectivity to Open Garden, my PC losses internet connectivity. Any thoughts?
Does ur screen go to sleep when this happens?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
No....i set my screen timeout to 10 minutes and still got the same behavior.
Sorry for the spelling errors......
After tying everything I could find in the archives an re-installing Open Garden, I still am having the same problem. I finally downloaded Barnacle and it is working fine with no other mod's other than root.

Wireless tether wont work...

So I was having issues with my phone and decided to start from scratch... I put it back to stock and then rooted it and installed wireless tether. I tried version 3.1 beta 14, 2.0.8 pre1 and 2.0.7 and neither of them worked. I start it up, get it running and when my laptop tried to connect, an error message pops up that says 'Windows was unable to connect.'
My next step was to install a new ROM. I installed MOF 2.3.5.ish from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648297 - I get the same error as before.
The next step was to try a different tether app. I was able to use EasyTether and it worked using USB which is one step closer, but the wireless still doesn't work. When I try to do wireless, it gives me the message below:
Hotspot/Tethering Error
Unable to connect to data network; turning off Hotspot/Tethering. You may not be subscribed to the Hotspot service; please contact your phone company.
So am I stuck having to use USB to tether or can someone help? Let me know if you need any more info. Thank you.

Try FoxFi. Can't get it via Google Play because of the Sprint block but can download the apk from the website.
To get Wireless Tether for Root to work did you follow the correct procedure for the Photon (such as changing the settings, disabling/enabling data, etc.)?

I'll try FoxFi.
What settings need to be changed?
FoxFi works. Thank you for the suggestion.
I am still curious as to why the other apps don't work though.

Typically for Wireless Tether for Root app need to change device to Samsung Galaxy S & then setup method to Netd(master). Depending on the device you are wanting to connect the channel may need to be changed as well. Also, probably get IP errors so to connect in infrastructure.......kill your data connection...start tethering...restore data connection.
Other apps are easier. According to others Open Garden Wifi tether app works as well. FoxFi for me has been the easiest and connects my tablet without issue.
i think it has to do with the 2.3.5 update.
it used to work for me but no longer does and i believe sprint may have asked motorolla to close the loop hole.

Foxfi is easier to use then wifi tehter... im not sure about performance but very straight forward

I have it, and got it from the market, where I can still get it, but it doesn't run - I get the error mentioned above.
I also recently started getting the OP error. Everything was fine until I flashed 2.3.5.ish. I will try flashing back to stock and see... I think its the 2.3.5.

USB tethering not working on Super Jelly Bean v4.0+Fusion kernel (v5.5) on Xperia Ray

I installed Super Jelly Bean v4.0 with the Fusion v5.5 kernel on my Xperia Ray without any issues, except that USB tethering is not working. Each time I check off the USB tethering box, it unchecks itself and nothing happens. Sometimes, it will display the message "USB tethering error".
I had USB tethering working with the regular factory firmware (v4.1.0.562 and all the previous versions I had before) with my Windows 7 Pro pc. Does anyone know if there are any logs I can check to see what is going wrong? Any suggestions on what I can do?

I think I figured it out. With the phone plugged in, I went into Device Manager and uninstalled the NDIS device, disconnected and then reconnected the phone. The stock firmware must have used an old/incompatible NDIS driver.
hmm.,.. tethering worked after I re-installed the driver. Now that I turned tethering off, and tried turning back on again, it has failed. Is anyone else having issues?

I uninstalled the driver in Windows again, and disconnected/reconnected my phone to my pc and it has started to work again. It seems this is the only way to get it working. I would post this in the development section where I downloaded the firmware, but I don't have sufficient access, or not enough posts....
