I was in the middle of using odin to flash back the stock rom when it froze. Now all my phone will do is display an image of a phone and pc connected by dots and a yield sign in between. Is my phone dead?
There's a video on youtube on how to fix it. Don't know if i can post a link but his user name is TheVoiceofAndroid and video is Samsung Vibrant UN-Brick Fix

Remove the USB from the phone, remove battery.
Place the battery back in your phone and get back into DOWNLOAD MODE
Close Odin
Run Odin as Administrator
Select the 512 PIT FIle
Select the T959UVJFD.tar file for PDA
Plug in your phone (Make sure you see a COM Port come up)
Start Flashing

as you i had the same problem and finally got it to work by watching this video on you tube:
1.go to you tube
2.search for flash vibrant
3.first video should be "Flashing Firmware with Odin on Samsung Vibrant" by ZDoomentral, its a 3:00 min video
(sorry can't post direct link but i a restricted since i am a new user)
pay close attention as to how he gets his phone into DOWNLOAD MODE, thats where i was going wrong, and just follow the directions of the video.
my phone is up and running with stock kernel and re-rooted it
man i just want to say i just had this same issue happen to be... im a truck driver and having my phone is serious... mainly to play games or what not...but i just got some from Minnesota and tried the odin method and saw that video on you which help give me a visual and its back up ... im very happy... sad to say it was a careless mistake somewhere but i did a back like i always do and it didnt work for some reason...i had a g1 before this vibrant and ive flashed a lots of roms... but anyway i wanna thank everyone one this forum ... i got my phone back
Does this restart the WHOLE THING? because I have information I didn't backup :/
Yes. It deletes EVERYTHING. Just like it's brand out of the box.
I recommend using Titanium Backup and back all your apps. ALWAYS ALWAYS, do a Nandroid backup before flashing ANYTHING.

If you have adb up and running & have the ability to get into recovery while you're bricked you can do aN adb pull before flashing
Adb remount
Adb pull /sdcard
After un-bricking you can adb push the folders back
When I did it..it flash back to stock but I have titanium back up so mt phone is back to how I had it ...and I still have every thing else back on, like my movies music etc..

I was trying to help my friend with his Vibrant and now it's stuck at the splash screen in a loop. I can't seem to get it to download mode or recovery or anything. I've pulled the battery, held down both vol keys while pushing power. Any time I connect the usb, it just starts up the boot loop without giving me a chance to do anything else. I can never get to the green charging battery. Any ideas?
I guess I could provide more info... We had rooted the phone multiple times, but Superuser would FC every time. So, we decided to flash eugene's froyo build (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740558). That's when I got the boot loop. Odin said it was finished, and it did not go into recovery. It just started boot looping. Maybe I didn't wait long enough before hitting the power? I'm not sure. Anyway. I'm stuck.
EDIT: Unstuck now. I guess I just need to not panic and read more. I held both VOL keys in while connecting to USB and it went into downloading mode. SO, I flash a stock 2.1 ROM and it's back to the way it was. Calling works fine. No data though. Apparently, that was one of the issues before. I'll try rooting again, but it seems like there's another issue. Also... No settings survive reboots. Like turning on USB debugging... Strange.
Hello,
I was installing a ROM earlier that I didn't like, so I rolled back to a ROM Manager backup I'd made, which didn't work and I got stuck on the Samsung Vibrant screen.
I was following these instructions to get my device working again: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848737
I had the phone plugged in, and the new files loading in through Odin when the power in my house went out (damn snowstorms). When it came back on, now my phone has a picture of a computer and a picture of a cellphone with a warning "!" sign between them on a black background, and I can't get the device into download mode.
The bible has a link to this post:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/...r-vibrant-and-return-to-stock-phone-pc-error/
Which doesn't seem to exist anymore.
Can anyone help me get this resolved?
pull the battery before you do it. i cant remember if i put the battery back in or if i was able to get into download mode with it but that was the trick for me

I usualy do this:
1. pull out the battery and sd card.
2. load all your files in odin without the phone plugged in.
3. plug the usb cable to the phone and the computer.
4. hold both volume up and down and put the battery in while doing this.
that should get you to download mode, then just use odin like normal.
I remember the one moment that i had like yours
Then i did a massive search, spent months fiddling with my phone, then , xame to understand that there is only one brick you need to be scared of............THE LIFELESS BRICK! I was returning to stock in odin and it completed successfully and went to reboot and had a heart attack. NEVER BOOTED AGAIN....NO POWER....... I work for t mobile and have access to these phones so i knew that vibrant was toast. As for your problem, i do that three times a day playing with that universal lag fix recovery. Since i have no idea what those things mean, it can get troublesome. BUT NEVER FEAR. And post in the right forum. If you still really need help then pm me and i will walk you through it

I had the phone plugged in to my BUTT, and the new files loading in through Odin's back door SLAMMA jamma when the power in my house went out (damn prostitutes). When it came back on, now my phone has a picture of a computer and a picture of a cellphone with a warning "!" sign between them on a black background, and I can't get the PROSTITUTES into download hoe.

I have one.
It's sweet.
Did any of this work for you? Are you still having problems?
Hi there,
I created thread under both general and android Q&A to have this post seen by as many experts as possible.
To brief the story:
Tried to upgrade my Rogers Captivate non-root Froyo to Gingerbread trough Kies the first attempt failed as after 30 min there was no progress on the installation bar, I disconnected the phone and restarted it, it booted up well and again I tried to upgrade. This time the bar filled up to 10% and then the screen on my phone went all Pink!! and the progress got stuck, then the phone was in semi-bricked state. I tried to flash back to 2.2 stock ROM on Odin 3 v1.82 the progress failed half way with a all purple screen (the green bar on Odin was almost at the beginning of the procedure). I thought to get it into DL mode once more to see if I could succeed but no DL mode anymore, all I get is random dots all over the screen!! and even when it gets connected on COM, ODIN cannot reach it anymore and it fails at Setup Connection. My belief is that my phone is bricked totally, but wanted to see if anybody on XDA has any thoughts for this.
Thanks for the help and time in advance.

Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G LTE (sch-i905)
So I got this tablet from a friend who said it was bricked, said I could have it if I got it working. So I plug it in and it turns on no problem, strange. wiped tablet and added a couple apps. Got busy at work and the tablet drain power. That's when I got to see it bricked, but still not sure why it booted for a bit for me.
Symptoms:
Boots to Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 splash screen (not the animated one after), sits there for ever.
Boots to Odin update mode
When booting to recovery I get a blank, back lit screen and nothing ever.
I've tried:
-Pushing clockwork mode to fix recovery
-I've had a hell of a time finding stock firmware for some reason (it isn't on sammobile), but I did find one eventually. I pushed it to the tablet via Odin, and it was successful, but rebooted to blank black back-lit screen. Have to hard boot and hold power buttun until I see the splash screen to get that far. I followed the guide on rootzwiki reposted on icsforums - www icsforums com/forum/showthread / 13525 (sorry new member can't post links)
-Followed another guide that involved draining battery completely, no go.
I don't care what firmware I end up on, or if I can use LTE (I won't anyway)
I'm a network engineer so I'm tech savy, but not heavy on Android OS. I'm looking for anything else I can try. I saw another method involving heimdall suite, but can't find the files for my model.
Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.
@Juicebox4242
I had this problem on my gt-p7510...
What I ended up doing was wiping my sdcard..I must have had something corrupt in my file system or a kernel issue( still not sure which )..
Since you have no recovery..I think you can use odin to repartition ( I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH THAT THIS IS JUST A GUESS )..I have not tried it..but i will search after this post to confirm..I also believe there is a way using ADB..again not sure..
I just wanted to post this so you would know somebody was looking and to maybe give you a couple ideas to follow up on...I'll search around and see what I find
Edit...I believe ADB will only work with usb debugging checked...But you can flash a stock rom in odin with re-partition checked..you need a .pit file....I think...
Edit...Here is a link to a stock rom thread for you're device..It seems to have helped a couple people with their soft-bricked devices..just follow directions in OP..no repartition checked. I cant even find a .pit file to do a re-partition with for you're device..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342995 Let me know if this works for you..
Thanks for the post!! Really appreciate it.
That firmware is the one I found in the end and tried. Odin pushes it ok, but then still doesn't boot. In fact after pushing that firmware it boots to backlit blank screen, but when hard reset boots to splash screen.
I tried a pit file I found that I thought was the right one, but it failed when I used that so it must have been wrong.

I have the exact same problem as you, except sometimes I can't my tablet to boot. I know it is a software problem because before I was messing with recovery yesterday, everything was working just fine. All I wanted to do was restore to factory settings and instead ended up bricking the device... If you find / know the answer, please do share.

Did you ever get this fixed? I've had the same problem for months. I just gave up and put it away. I recently fixed a Galaxy Tab 2 and now I want to see if anyone else was able to fix this i905 not booting issue.
did anyone know the solution of this question
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to fix a friend's sgs3. He says his device ran out of battery while upgrading (over the air I think), and since then the device only shows black and white stripes on the screen when "on" (doesn't even show the boot samsung effect, let alone getting into the OS) . I have the device, and have tried to get it into download mode using the regular procedure, and failed everytime except once, when i really got in, but then ODIN said that I needed a PIT file, and by the time I found one the device was already stuck and I couldn't get it into download mode again ever since.
When in zebra mode, ODIN does communicate with the device, but fails everytime I try to do something (flashing a PDA file with PIT, without it, or even when I try the NAND erase, about which I read stuff on the web and it seemed like my case required it).
I'm doing all this just because my friend wants to avoid getting the phone to the phone lab (costy).
BTW he has no warranty.
The device is a Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 32GB.
My gratitudes for any response.
Edit: The problem with odin is that he always says "There's no pit parition", which is driving me crazy, because I tried every PIT I could find on the web and it just didn't work - odin keeps on being stuck on "Setup connection". (I can now get into download mode easily)
Im using 3.10, the latest odin I could find.
Try reading the dead boot restore thread in general forum, it sounds like your emmc is fried.
I can't find it, can I have a link?
