Phone cleaner app? - Vibrant Themes and Apps

I'm wondering if anyone knows of an app like CCleaner (for Windows) or CleanApp (for Macs) that cleans up unnecessary and/or unused files in your phone? Perhaps files left behind after uninstalling an app, or files that are no longer use to use?

If you're rooted, I'd say:
ROM Managers "fix permissions" script for permissions
CacheMate for root users
Seems to keep my phone in check

Yea the above poster took the words outta my mouth

thanks guys, I'll download those 2.
Rooted too.

MIUI Music

Here's MIUI music app. ADB push it to system app (or use root explorer or whatever other means you use). Works nicely and IMHO the best looking music player.
Original thread is HERE. All credit to MIUI team.
It won't install. I pushed it and apk is there but it does install
Edit: never mind restarted my phone and all is well. Thanks for this, it is really nice app.

Make your on r/w and just copy it over to system/app and restart your phone. Done.

Copy to /system/app and reboot or, to install in /data/app, just short press and choose "Install" option.
This is just a regular app, no addt'l libs or tweaks needed.
it wont install either way

What widget bug? As far as features go...I've never used MIUI before so I don't know if where are any changes. For all I care, I did not know there were any previous versions

turn off all internet(wifi+mobile network) syncs from settings. widget doesn't update when u change the song in this configuration. this is a good player but a lot of room for improvement.

[Q] Astro File Manager 2.5.2

I’m trying to delete a few unwanted apps as in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826491, but their permissions are read only. Does anyone know how to change a file’s permission with Astro?

Not exactly the answer I was look for to resolve the problem. However, I appreciate the response, but I don't want to download another app because I already have quite a few.
For astro you are looking for something called godmode. It appears to be a script add-on of some sort. I dont use astro though when dealing with permissions, I just use root manager. I have heard that es explorer does have an experimental feature for permission handling.
Edit; root explorer not manager ;/

Titanium backup is the answer. It will remove any app you want, even system apps.
I don't understand why you would not want to have TB, it is an essential app for all rooted phones to backup your apps. But if you don't want the app you can always uninstal it after you have finished using it...
Also it does not take up much space in the memory. You can use TB to move apps onto the SD card to free up more space internally as well

New market app updating

I was updated to the new market yesterday and today saw that Titanium had an update. Clicking on it opens screen that only allows for the app to be opened or uninstalled. I don't see any option to update.
How do we update with the new market?
Thanks,
SF

I had the same problem when my market auto upgraded. I think what happens is that the market account gets screwed up and it doesn't allow you to update some things. Its fixable - you have to reregister your phone with the market. The bad news is the only way I could figure to do this was to clean wipe and start over. I suppose you could factory reset to. I bet there's an easier route - but I haven't found it.

Just found an easier way : I moved vending app from /data/app to sd, pushed it back, changed permissions and rebooted and everything is fine. Thanks for taking time to answer

Sorry, I phrased that incorrectly. I know how to get in there & change the permissions. What I was wondering is how they need to be set. Is it RW-R--R--? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just don't have to do this very often & want to make sure I do it correctly.

This worked for me! Thanks guys for the clarification on setting permissions.
I thought I had this issue fixed, but it has resurfaced. I have the market telling me there is now an update for Handcent SMS, however it doesn't give me the option to update! I can only open or uninstall.
I tried the fix starflorida posted multiple times, but it just isn't doing the trick. Does anyone have an idea what's going on? Any suggestions or feedback?
There is a new version of the market rolling out today. Try clearing data and restarting market and see if that helps?

I was hoping to avoid that, just so i don't have to re-enter all of my info. But, if I can't get it straightened out, I'll give that a go.
I now have 2 apps sitting there waiting for an update that I can't complete: Handcent & Unlock with Wifi. If I click the app individually, I only get the choices of opening or uninstalling. However, if I click the button that says "Update 2", it looks like it will work! I don't get it.
Edit: I am currently getting the "Low on Space" message from my phone (I prefer not to put my apps on the SD card, if possible). Could this be the reason why I can't update my apps?
Clearing the market data seems to have worked as a temporary fix. It is no longer showing that I need to update any of my apps. However, I did not receive the latest market version. It is still the same version I had prior to clearing data, version 3.0.27
It will, when you least expect it! You can download an apk from Android central if you don't want to wait...

CD-ROM.ISO Location

I have located the cursed CD-ROM.iso file that helps trigger the autoload and prompt for Verizon Media Manager; it's in \system\etc.
Unfortunately, an attempt to rename it didn't survive reboot from temproot to normal; the directory repopulated. Perhaps someone else can figure out a away to kill or freeze it (I don't think Titanium will freeze anything that isn't an application).
maybe Scott's CleanTool?
yeah deleting it through root explorer just forced my phone to reboot

I wish it were that easy, but see from his own thread this post. Reboot restores the file (I just noticed that myself after experimenting with it.)
I don't think anything written to \system (and probably any other root directory) survives reboot after temporary root.
Turn off autorun on your pc. You should because it helps protect against viruses.
The ISO itself is not the try problem. Its whatever app mounts the ISO.
Can't you disable Auto-Run on just that drive?
EDIT: Take a look at this... http://www.samlogic.net/articles/autorun-enable-disable-nodrivetypeautorun.htm

But the point is there is a rouge app out there that forces that ISO to mount. I want to find that app and kill it.

It behaves similar to the sandisk u3 drives, basically a partition disguised as a virtual device.
Guess no progress has been made on this issue???
I DETEST it...and I think it's the culprit preventing me from using the HTC Sync software....

I don't think there is much you can do but disable auto run on your PC. At least you won't get that annoying pop up. Con247 mentioned it earlier in this thread.

[Q] SIII how to disable camera

hello all,
I am looking for app. or any other solution which disable the camera.
Does anyone have such a solution?
Thanks,
htako
You could use Titanium Backup to freeze your cammera app. (Although i suspect it would cause some future force-closes)
If you only want to prevent camera usage for a non-advanced user, you could just hide the camera icon, using samsung´s touchwiz-embeded hide icons feature.
anyhow, why would someone want to disable their camera anyways?
Simple move or delete it from /system/app with something like Root Explorer...

As second poster said, freeze it, but it can be unfreezed...
But it's kinda pointless you do so from software, because other people can easily download and install another camera from play store... unless you can disable it under hardware level...

Use something like Root Explorer or similar file manger, navigate to /dev , there is a file named "exynos-mem" , long press it, choose permission, and uncheck all box

I DO HOPE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, AND TAKE NOTE OF ITS PREVIOUS PERMISSION SETTING IN ORDER TO RESTORE CAMERA FUNCTION , OTHERWISE YOU WILL DISABLE YOUR CAMERA AND WON'T BE RECOVERED EVEN YOU FLASH NEW ROM UNLESS YOU CHANGE IT TO THE RIGHT PERMISSION. Do you familliar with apps that control camera dis/en?
the solution you recommended seems to be irreversible
It shouldn't be irreversible. Go back to the file long press and select the boxes same as last time.
You're only changing permissions, once back to how it was, this will bring the camera app back.
