As in, can I insert and remove the SIM card without taking the battery out?
Thanks!
Most phones can't do this. Vibrant has the battery physically blocking the SIM. Also, there us a Q&A section.

don't mind him. He woke on the wrong side of his mom.
But he is correct. The battery physically blocks the SIM which IMHO is a good idea. I can't imagine a good reason for pulling your SIM while your phone is on.

Sure you can if you want to reach through the battery using your super powers and get to the sim card, and then take the chance of frying the sim card because as it comes out it runs across the contacts and voltage hits the wrong place.
Definitly not eve when its acessiable
i dont kno about urs but my Vibrant rocks

Not sure what happened, but I was helping a friend root and unlock his phone and now my SIM card won't even work on my phone again.
I press *#7465625# to check if everything is "off" and it is.
I put the SIM card in and nothing is recognized.
I factory reset the phone twice and still nothing.
Is this a form of bricking the phone?
I pop the SIM card on my brother's blackberry and it works, but nothing on my Samsung which was working fine.
Maybe because I left the SIM card in while rooting/unlocking my friends device?
Help.
Im confused, you were working on your friends phone but now your phone doesnt work? How are the two related?
When u say unlock, what do you mean? You were trying to unlock it so it would work with a differnt carriers sim card?
I think you should odin back to jfd...that should fix your problem. Then install a custom rom of your liking.
Ya, sorry it was rather confusing on my part.
My phone was running stock and great, 2.1.update1 JV16.
His was essentially the same stock phone.
I rooted mine a month ago and unlocked it - to work with my carrier here in Canada.
I was doing the same to his (rooting/unlocking) but with MY SIM card in his phone.
I didn't do anything in terms of ODIN and all that, just bare stock.
I rooted his phone, unlocked it as well. I did this with MY SIM card in his phone.
Not sure if that screwed things up, but now on my phone, the SIM card isn't being read by my phone at all. No SIM cards work on my phone, period.
Hope this clarifies it.
Thanks.
get a new sim card from t-mobile.

This is a lie, there is NO way to hook the sim card up. And even if you could, it makes absolutely no difference development wise.

And what good is that when we have a processor made specifically for CDMA signals.

Agreed, many users have attempted for a year now to get it to work. If memory serves me right two things.
1. The Sim card slot is not even connected hardware wise
2. R800x CPU is different then GSM models our CPU is designed for CDMA frequencies.
Anyone who says that they can get the SIM card slot to work is lying.

Switched from my rezound to a gnex to check out jellybean and see if it would fix my mobile data dropout issue, which it did. Now that new radios are out, I would like to try out the Rezound again. The gnex uses a micro sim, so I bought an adapter. But the Rezound won't see the sim. Does anyone else do this? And is there a trick?
Make sure the cut off corner in toward the bottom of the phone when you slide it in.

Test the sim in another mini-sim sized phone if you can. Sometimes the adapters have size issues and need to be played with a little before they fit properly and show the sim card

I figured it out before I read your post, but that was exactly it. Seems funny that the notch doesn't face in to me.

It is kind of a pot shot if you don't know which way it goes.
This sim adapter works great. Decent shipping time too, unlike the rest of the chinese crap.

For a free micro sim adapter, order a giffgaff sim below as it comes as a microsim inside a normal sim so you can either use the new sim or use it as a template to cut your old sim to size.
Order from below
i received an S3 from a friend and its currently under Tracfone. i have a service plan with Wal-mart's Family Mobile ( i know, i know.. its all i can afford right now.) he assured me i could activate this phone for my service plan, as Family Mobile does support the S3. however, i told him i'm not sure because it doesnt have a slot for a simcard. am i wrong? or is there some crazy way to get this phone working that i cannot see?
any help would be greatly appreciated!!
You say S3 , you say wal mart .
So usual question what phone do you have this is I9300/ I9305 forum .
jje
The simcarc slot is inside the back cover above the battery the s3 uses a micro sim, and is spring loaded. You can remove the back cover by pulling from the the indent at top of the phone.
