[Q] frankin twiz vs bionix? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm about to flash a ROM. which one is better?

They are both excellent, look at the feature list and see which has the core pieces that you are looking for.

I'm running bionix 1.4, and it is by far the best rom out in my opinion. Its very snappy with either kernel. 100000000000000x better than stock and lag is virtually gone
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

Another vote for Bionix. 1.4 is amazing and Sombionix is a god among men.
I don't always complain, but when I do, I #BlameWes

Try both. Results may vary.
I personally use Frankin-Twiz Update4.

Having flashed just about every rom available here, I lean Bionix 1.4 oc.uv.
It just feels better to me--all the roms are well put together, but it is all going to come down to what you like in your UI and what is on the phone.

They are both great, but I have been using Bionix because I use most of the TW apps which of are taken out on F/T.

Both are solid. I've been using F-Twiz3 for a few weeks, and now F-Twiz4 for a day. F-Twiz3 was very solid, no problems.
Be aware that bionix 1.5 is having bluetooth problems. I and many others simply couldn't get BT to work, so I went with F-Twiz4.

I too am usually a loyal fan of bionix, but i need to have the bluetooth working so currently i am running franken-twiz 4. as soon as sombionix gets the bluetooth fixed though i will be going back over to his rom. of course i wouldn't have any objection to his jp3 froyo rom if it gets swype working better and the market gets fixed.

Thanks guys. I tried both the ROMs out, and really liked them both. But the graphical changes that were made on both ROMs was the deal breaker, and I decided to change my kernel to get the speeds I wanted.
But... to save starting a new thread... I kind of want to replace my stock music player, because I really don't like it.
I searched through the forum, and didn't find much.
Do you guys have any suggestions?

MixZing is pretty good--best I've used so far.

Please help me decide before I go crazy

I have been at this for weeks now. I rooted my droid eris and love that I did, but for the life of me I cannot decide on which rom to use and stick with. I have tried nonsensikal, kaos, tazz, and celb. I just want one where I will have great battery life. I was wondering if I can get some advice on which ones you all think are the best. I know kaos is the most popular or so it seems. I keep going back and forth on this as I type I am flashing nonsensikal 9.0 and probably will switch again later unless I get advice.
Thank you for any help.
I use KaosFroyo, but I've tried out several and like most of them. You really won't find a bad ROM here; it's more of a personal preference...the way it looks and feels to you.
Keep an eye on KaosLegendary as it progresses. If you like sense, that one's going to be badass.
Since all of the ROMS you mentioned are built from CyanogenMod source, they will likely all have similar battery life... I'm not sure anyone can tell you one ROM is better than another, but I can give you my opinion- I have had the best experience with CELB's flavor of Froyo.
+1 for Celeb.
Not that the others are bad, all of them are great. Celeb seems to run a bit smoother.
That said keep an eye on Kaos-Legendary I think it will be great once some of the kinks are worked out.
I am like you.
I started out with Kaoys
I think went to Tazz
I am now on Nonsenikal.
I moved from Kaoys after I saw somethings that Tazz was doing but I started not to like the red keyboard with some of those releases and I didn't get into flashing a new keyboard which took me back to Kaoys........but then i found Nonsensikal at 8.2 and then 8.8 and now 9 and I am stuck with them for now.
I have the latest Tazz and Latest Kaoys on my phone just in case. I also have the Flashback 15 V1 just in case I need to take back to verizon for some odd reason and that works too
As has been stated, it's hard to tell you which is the best for you. You've tried them, you are the one who needs to decide. I like Kaos ROM it's been stable, many updates, many users, which helps when you have a question. It also is the first one i tried back on version 17.
They are all good, for sure. You just have to try them all bro, you can always switch... right? lmao
But, I suggest Tazz or Celb only because I really like those guys personally
Make it easy on yourself. Use the rock solid 2.1 XTR (with or without sense) from Zach as your default rom. When you are bored and wanna play, rotate among the Froyo roms. If there was a benchmark for Eris roms, I think XTR wins the prize. The Froyo roms are progressing nicely, but none of them have achieved benchmark status. (yet)
So adopt the best and play with the rest

If you mean quadrant score, XTR actually gets lower because its a 2.1 rom. But those mean nothing on the Eris, so yes XTR is the best way to go. I recommend doing XTRSense because it comes with XTRom and you can always download LauncherPro or something, flash openGL. and there ya go, both roms in one
If you are looking for froyo sensless rom i would definitely go with shadowrom. if you want sense based 2.1 than XTRsense. As far as quadrant scores i had highest with shadowrom.
I'm still running evil eris 3.0 and probably will upgrade to evil eris 4.0. personally i like evil eris the most out of any of the roms. i have apps2sd and over clocked at 768mhz with out any issues. hasn't given me one problem yet and by far one rom that has zero problems. Every other rom i've tried has some sort of issue. with froyo rom's it's ether the speaker jack not working or some odd issue which sucks. i hate if something doesn't work right so that's why i'm still running evil eris 3.0.
Thank you for all the suggestions so far. I went back to tazz 12 the pink theme because I liked how it was more girly since I am a girl. However I should of mentioned I wanted to be able to make whichever rom I chose more personal and the only changes I could see that you can make on any of them so far is the color of the clock and battery percentage. If there is more I can customize please let me know.
Another question I had was there was one theme I fell in love with but I dont know how to put it put it on my eris since it was made for regular droid. Is there any advice about doing that?
Thank you for any help. Im still really new to this.
Evil Eris is a dead project as far as I know. There's a cyborg rom that's very stable since it's based of the latest ruu.
As for froyo I'm a fan of Kaos or Tazz ROMs. I also huge fan of the built in tether and apps2sd in froyo.

I have tried NonSensikal, Tazz, and CELB. And to be honest, they are all very similar. I swore by NonSensikal when I started then tried out Tazz because of an issue I was having with my phone. Then I can't even remember why but I decided to try CELB 2.9 and it was great too. I've switch off of it for a couple days back to NonSensikal 8.8 but was having email issues and went back. To be honest I love the fact that I can switch ROMs as much as I want. I like to tinker and try new things. I've even flashed Kaos Legendary and it definitely going to be one I keep an eye on. All I'm saying is experiment if you want and enjoy. If not just flash one and stick with it. I've had no problems on CELB 3.0.
+1 xtrsense or xtrrom!
I know there's a theming app but I never used it si can't remember the name. I pretty much stick to the way a rom comes except for boot animation and keyboard.
Sent from my xtrROM Eris using XDA App
TaintedTenzo works the best for me
I have been on NonSensikal for a few updates now and it is pretty stable. I honestly can't tell you that it is any better than the others. Kaos, Conap, Tazz, and Listy are all awesome developers and most (or all) seem to openly share ideas and bug fixes. It's all about your personal preference.
As far as battery life goes, ever thought of just getting more batteries? I bought two extras with an external battery charger off of ebay for pretty cheap. I keep my setcpu profiles set higher than most to get the best performance and change the battery whenever it gets low. Now, if I was a girl, this would be even more convenient seeing as most of you carry purses with everything but the kitchen sink in them anyway.
As far as themes go, check the apps and theme section of XDA. Even if a theme was made for a particular Froyo rom, it SHOULD work on all of them. Make a nandroid and morph or flash away.

I was on nonsensikal. I think im going to have to flash xtrrom /sense just to see how they compare. Thank you for all the help. I can use all that I can get =D

[Q] (HTC Droid Eris) Most stable ROM in your opinion

I am currently running kaosfroyo-v36, and its pretty good. I am fairly new to rooting my droid, ive only tried out 2 roms so far and both were fairly good. I understand how rooting works, not quite sure if i get how the kernel works or how to add it to my phone. To get back to my question, What rom do you feel is the most stable rom out thats still speedy?
Thanks!
stability id go with froshedyo
and for speed id go with Dual rom
Thanks for your your input!
IMHO, xtrSENSE and xtrROM are the most stable ROMs out there that I've tried. Everything just works, of course, they're 2.1-based so it doesn't include Froyo features or CM-specific enhancements to Froyo.
I wish I could have the best of both worlds. No offense to anyone. I'm currently using CELBFroyo.
I would definitely go with CELB =) Fast, Stable.
FroShedYo is working Very good for me, upped to version 8. It has decent speed, a great built in CPU monitor and all the goodness of Cyanogen. It is very stable, no crashes in the month or so I have stuck with it. Typical dropped call that isn't really dropped, but it picks back up and does a good job.
I agree on xtrROM. It's super fast and extremely stable. Of course, it's 2.1. I'm on CELBFroyo, and after a week there haven't been any hiccups. It's got nice speed and CPUBoost is a nice addition.
I've also used NonSenSIKal which is pretty solid.
for the most part, its really personal preference. Give some ROMs a test run and see how they work out for you. I've always been switching up ROMs, but I've stuck with CELBfroyo for about a month now, and its running very well for me.
p.s. dont forget to nandroid before you start flashing
Can't tell you why but I've tried quite a few including FroShedYo and CELB but Floyo Tazz has been the fastest/smoothest for me.
Tazz Froyo
I have tried alot of Roms and Tazz Froyo has been my favorite, it has conaps new kernel which helps with battery life and lagging on the phone, built in cpu governors( no need for SetCPU) Gingerbread keyboard, which is very responsive and has a excellent predictive text function, MIUI music which is a updated stock music app, you can make phone calls and send texts from the lockscreen, no complaints at all with the ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733897
Nonsensikal is my daily ROM but I have used froshedyo's V6 through V8 as an alt from time to time because it is easy to theme. Both are very stable solid ROMs you'll be happy with either one.
Thanks to everyone who replied! I am now using froshedyo v8 and its pretty quick and i like the fact that it has cayanogen with it.Very cusomizable and fairly quick! Once again thanks to all posters!

Woo Hoo!
workshed, your rom rocks! igot a couple questions about modifying some things.. Themes, icons, wallpaper, fonts, boot image, etc. Where should i post?
Workshed can correct me if I'm wrong but his Rom is very similar to tazzs roms, with floyo being a port from a hero Rom and tazz froyo being allot like sheds Rom. All eris' are different so run what your phone likes the most. Mine likes tazz froyo more than floyo and I haven't had the time to try sheds Rom but I know he did a great job on it.

I concur ... i tried a couple others before i settled on CELB ... fast, stable, efficient, plays well with other custom apps... also cleared up space.

My vote is for CELB, i've used EE and sensable and i have found CELB to be the fastest and most bug free. If i've ever had a problem conap has either already commented about it in his thread or he or someone else direct me to the solution. Not knocking anyone else, just my personal experience.
I'm a big fan of KaosFroyo.. I do always flash the latest CFS kernel over it though. I have tried 4 or 5 other roms as well, but always come back to kaos
i've ran evil eris 3.0 for a really long time. i loved that rom and now i've been on v37 for the past couple months. v37 of kaosfroyo rom but starting to get bored of it and want more speed. maybe i'll just end up getting a new phone soon.

[Q] Finding a good ROM

I need help finding a simple working ROM. My wife has this phone, and she has seen me put ROM's and all that on my phone and wants me to put one on hers. Problem is, I need to find one that works (isn't an alpha, works with almost all applications). Any help would be appreciated!
Try SuperClean 3. Basically a tweaked version of Samsung's TW Gingerbread.
Link? Im having trouble finding it

2nd for SC3. I run it with imoseyons lean kernel and have NO issues. Great battery life, fast (2100 to 2300 on quadrant scores), and STABLE!
3Rd for SC. All though cm7 is stable fast and pretty simple to navigate.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
Plus you can flash the TW4 addon for Superclean 3 v0.5
Terminators run on Android...
IMO CM7 and MIUI suck for the fascinate, Go with Superclean of GeeWiz ROMs for Fascinate. I'm stable, quick, no glitches, lags, chokes, all apps work flawlessly. after flashes dozens of roms over a period of months.. I am content with my setup.
See sig for links. Good luck.
I would cast another vote for SC3. I was on CM7 since nightly 15 or so thru 112. Loved it, but in my low-signal area the data drop problem was significant. I was toggling airplane mode numerous times a day.
I tried SC3 to get more stable and have been impressed. There's things I miss from CM7 but SC3 is a lot more stable in my case. I'm also running comradesven's kgb kernel.
Another observation is that the EH03 radio works better on SC3 than it did on CM7. I tried it and went back to ED05 which worked best for me on CM7. With SC3/EH03, my data speeds have improved somewhat over CM7/ED05.
YMMV, good luck.
edit: got to change my signature I guess.
If you want a stock like experience without all of Verizon's crap (like you'd get on the Showcase) then I'd go with GeeWiz; it also has great kernels with it. If you want one with a more current and customizable feel, then Superclean3 is hard to beat.
Just my 2ยข worth.

I use JT's vanilla gingerbread
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/1993-rom-vanilla-gingerbread-v81-1108-fascinatemesmerizeshowcase/
It's fast, no bloat, really stable, and it has lots of goodies. can't wait for my phone to get shipped back from repair so I can use it again!!
agreed, go with SC ROM unless you want ICS. Then, for now CM9/JT's builds are the only game in town right now.
Just installed SC. Wow, love love love it! It even somehow fixed the camera lag I was having. Was taking like 1.5-2 seconds to take a photo after press after Verizons last update. Back to near instant again.
I backed up the phone with Titanium, then restored once SC was on. Worked awesome.

whats better than bionix as of now?

what do you guys think is better than TW that i should try, miui?
Miui was pretty cool. Visually appealing but for me some apps didnt work and battery life sucked. I am using phiremod 2.0. It's a cm7 that in my opinion apart from bionix is the best rom I've tried I get great battery life and its really fast and reliable. I've been on it for about 3 months

If you want a good quality 2.2, check out Toxic8 or Deranged9. Both excellent ROMs with great support and outstanding battery life.
If you want the latest then ICS Passion is where it is at but make sure you are comfortable flashing ROMs, Odin and bootloaders. Oh and read, read, read.
I've been using ics passion 10.6 its great! no rom gives good battery life for me but this isn't any worse than stock 2.2 battery life
I am new to this stuff, but I flashed Zendroid a few days ago and love it. Super solid, no glitches at all yet. I have 25% battery right now after a full day's use and that never happened on stock. I love it, super clean, super smooth. I can't speak to "better" than bionix as I haven't tried that ROM yet. Just know that Zendroid is awesome.
I was on bionix 1.3.1 and was hesitant to try ics passion but the rom is smoother than I ever imagined.
Ok so I was looking at ics, and there's a ton where can get the best rom and kernels or is there a good site I can read about it?

Just look for the "ICS Passion v11" thread in the Development sub-forum. I recommend the stock kernel, only because it lags for me if I use Eugene's. Results may vary though, so you should try both and see which works best for you.
Sent through the XDA App on my Samsung Vibrant running ICS Passion v10.6
I think it really depends on the features that you're looking for. Personally, I don't really see the necessity to jump ship to a GB or ICS rom for the Vibrant just yet (if ever). Someone posted a pretty legit list on Fishman's mod noting the differences between Android versions that you should check out to see if updating is worth it for you.
+1 for bionix from me..
ICS Passion v11 is pretty sleek, but since there's no 1080p video recording I may have to revert back to Bionix.
The Vibrant is a better video recorder than my Flip- I'm not sure why they would cripple the video.
360 productions make some great miui roms. I prefer lithium. you could give those a try
I've been using bionix nextgen v2 for a long long time, and it's fantastic but I'd really like to make the jump to a GB rom.
Mainly because I can't stand the fact that my CM7 Nook Color can run apps that my Galaxy S class phone can't.
Only GB ROM I've tried so far was the first stable CM7 version, but no matter what I tried I couldn't get my GPS to work _at all_. Since I actually make use of my GPS on a fairly regular basis I went back to bionix nextgen.
Can anyone recommend GB or ICS roms that have good GPS performance (meaning they don't have that "turn off GPS once and you have to reboot to get it back" issue)? Been browsing through the roms listed in the dev forum, but I'd also like some extremely fresh personal feedback from other users here.
Thanks in advance all.

Would also like to know whether such ROM (GB with working GPS) exists...
Since my original post above I've switched to ICS Euphoria. It does have the GPS off = reboot to use it problem, but honestly leaving the GPS switched on all the time does not seem to have a serious impact on my battery life vs what I was getting before. In the end I'm fine making that tradeoff in order to be on modern firmware. ICS is _awesome_ and I don't see myself going back.

Which ROM to get for Vibrant?

I just got a Vibrant and was wondering if I should roll with Passion, CGM, or AOKP?
I looked into these, but just wanted some more opinions on which one I should install.
I'd prefer to get something that would make my phone faster and have a better battery life.
Good luck! I'm personally too scared to try any of the ICS roms due to the spooky Encryption Unsuccessful bug.
That said, before I read up on that bug, I was going to install the Gummy rom. Seemed kinda cool.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA
ICZen and Slim are my favorite ICS builds, but with the GPS still having delayed lock problems (even for a Vibrant) I still come back to Froyo for daily driver purposes. If you don't mind a sub-par GPS (which the Vibrant is already infamous for) the ICS ROMs are badass. I've flashed different versions of Slim and ICZen about 15 or so times with their different releases, and I never had a problem with the encryption bug but the more I've read about it the more it worries me.
Fishman (Bionix-V Mod, AOSP, RAZR, among a few) and Moped Ryder (EZ_Ryder, and a Slim version of that) still update and work on Froyo ROMs, plus there are so many "vintage" 2.2 ROMs to give a run it took me about a week of flashing a bunch of them to find what I liked and didn't like. I still almost always settle back on Bionix-V 1.3.1 or Fishman's mod of 1.3.1, but Project-V is another nice one even though it's unsupported now.
I wasn't a fan of the look of Trigger look but the performance was very good, and Go Launcher being integrated into Deranged was a non-started for me. As awesome as Go Launcher is (my favorite freebie launcher), I like my ROMs as barebones as possible so that I can add what I want, but that's just me. Zendroid was another great Froyo build (I think Deranged was built off of it), but, again, something about the look didn't do anything for me but that's all personal taste. You can theme them how you want, but sometimes those don't touch as much of the overall look of the ROM as having them themed from "stock".
I'd say go with the latest iczen if u want stability cool features and great battery life. Plus you will still get support and a great team behind it with lots of cool themes I will try an get u my battery life screen shots once I'm home and on my computer

ICZEN is the one you're looking for.
This may be later than normal, but I've been on ICZen for a long time now...I tried to switch to CM9 but was highly disappointed by that, and went back to Zen... Much more stable, faster, more user friendly interface. Some things that I like that I could NOT go on without were the brightness slider on the drop down menu and the hold back to kill app features... those two alone make this app worth its weight in gold. I've tried six different ones and always go back to Zen Love their stuff!

If you want something new, fast, simple, stock-like, then get Helly Bean. For speed, I used these OC settings that someone suggested to me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30957051
As for the battery life, I had GPS off and Wi-Fi off playing music from Winamp in my car with it for about an hour and it went down from 95% to 82%, if that helps.
Also, I recently flashed the build update from 9/2 to 9/4 Helly Bean and only had to change the LiveOC high and low after OCing with the settings in the link above without losing any files.
For me the CM10 last nigthly is the best.
I will have to try ICZen. I've been running on of the CM9 nightlies (04/29). It was great for quite awhile, but the battery life hasn't been very good the last week or so for some odd reason.
