[Q] Backup OEM ROM - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK...I searched google and this forums and cant find the right info for the Vibrant...Can I and if I can how do I back up the OEM ROM so that if I dont like 2.2 when it finally comes out I can flash back to 2.1?

You might wanna check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111 Specifically the "Tips and Tricks!" section.

Oniyuri: I'm not sure what you were pointing me to in that link. From what I think your pointed me to something about backing up Apps and other info...Thats not what I was looking for. I want to backup android 2.1 encase I dont like what 2.2 gives me. Now I know I could always d/l a custom ROM but thats not what I want. I would like my own backup of it.

Please help on my rom search

I am sure this has been posted but I have not found it. I hate my current ROM version for my sprint touch pro and want to change it. I’m wanting to try the proven rom 2.1 but am hesitant because I can not find the OEM rom for my phone. Plus I am not 100% positive that the proven rom 2.1 will work for my phone since it’s a cdma touch pro. On the wiki page for my phone it only has question marks for a link to the OEM rom. Is there a place I can download the OEM rom in case the provenRom 2.1 does not work right? Also, my phone is the CDMA version raph800. Please help because I would like to at least format the phone back to original like it was when I bought it. It would be great if I can find another rom that is better.
Thanks!
Everything you need to know about flashing cooked roms on the HTC TP is here:http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=68&sort=voteavg&order=desc&daysprune=-1. Also be aware that you need to HardSPL (unlock) your TP before you go to flash it. The direct link to the OEM roms is here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42741. Here is a poll in a thread of different roms and what they rank: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=52651. I personaly like the Juggalo ROM. It can be found here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=49341&highlight=Juggalo, but it's all about personal preference.

before you flash your phone, it is really easy to do but you have to make sure that you follow directions.
Thanks for the information I will go read up on it more.

[Q] Ordered Eris..couple Q's

Hey guys, so I just ordered an Eris which I intend to use on MetroPCS.
I just want to make sure that I'm doing all this in the correct order..
So, fist thing is that I need to make sure that the phone has 2.1 on it in order to use the 1 click root solution(love )
-Though if my phone isn't 2.1..how do I upgrade without rooting so that I can root?
Next, I need to choose a rom to use. I found the read first sticky listing all the most current roms and radios and other info on how to actually install them.
-Though, since the thread is closed are they really all the latest?
Lastly, I need to Flash (not sure if that is actually the correct terminology) the phone's settings over to Metro using the file found here.
I think that's the basic direction that I need to take. Please let me know if I'm missing anything.
I am in the dark about a couple things, though I'm not sure I need to understand them.
I know the kernel is a central part of the OS, but doesn't it come with the rom you choose? Why would you need to flash the Kernel, is it just to update your rom without actually changing your rom?
Also, what's with recovery images and what's an RUU?
Finally, how do I pick a rom that's right for me!? There seem to be so many and I'm not sure which are the most recent/functional/fast..
Anyway, you guys are awesome for all you do and I hope that this thread can be useful to someone besides just me.
Thanks again!!

Probably once you get the phone it will already have the 2.1 official OS or you can update it through the Settings and have it check for updates. I would suggest that you try xtrSense. I have no clue on the Metro settings though but I would imagine once you get a good ROM flashed that all you have to do is to just install the settings.
Thanks, yeah..I think that link that I posted takes care of the metro settings..at least it says it does.
I didn't think I would be able to do an over the air update because I was assuming that it was DL'd from a verizon server. Does the update to 2.1 come from a typical internet source that can be accessed from any network?

whats the best choice?

hey guys sorry if im asking noob question here. im new to the samsung thread area. im used to x and inc.
just recently got this for my wife. been rooted. and thats it. im wanting well, shes wanting to stay on stock side but not too deep with custom rom. i was wondering if anybody had the file or link to a deoxed version of this 2.2 fascinate i could flash over? im not really familliar with dl30 or etc and i dont' know which is the recent 2.2 doexed version. any help would be great. or any rom thats close to stock and deoxed. thx again.
ps. what the heck is voodoo? are we talking about that new digital copy deal or ?
Here's a link to what you asked for:

This belongs in general. You should really use the search function.
http://www.xda-developers.com/announ...oderator-team/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948679
Do all of this, except instead of flashing the ROM in that thread, flash this deodexed ROM (same one that chameleo78 linked to). http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20950916/EB0...xed-signed.zip
And Voodoo is a lagfix. Stock Galaxy S phones use the RFS file system, but if you flash a Voodoo kernel it makes the file system EXT4, which improves read and write speeds.
thx for the response guys!!! drop box if over loading so ill wait until it comes back online. thx

[Q] need to get rid of tnt

I would liketo know where I need to go to down load honey comb or somthing I can replace tnt with. I tried searching but my wonerful tnt keyboard would go away.
The developpment section of this forum has TONS of roms posted in it. It doesn't take searching, just browsing. I would stay away from HC though...if you lack the energy to locate a rom on your own, then using an Alpha version of a rom with known bugs/issues, would just make you rip your hair out.
Check out Goodintentions "G-Tablet for dummies" website. It's a good starting point for anyone that wants to start from the beginning, or recover from the inevitable softbrick...
Seeing as how you don't want to look for yourself, I can only imagine what would happen if you attempted to flash a HC rom...
I don't intend ot be mean, but come on man, you need only to read a few section on this forum to find what it is your looking for.
I second TJEs warning about going to HC right away. Flash something on your same bootloader and try out some roms that are well beyond alpha releases.
Read the details and instructions of whatever rom you choose and then read them again before flashing.
Also recommend getting nvflash ready, you will need it eventually.
All this can be found here on xda by browsing or using search.
But since search buttons can be very hard to find and use here is a link withe everything you need to know http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/
Good luck

You want to make a note of your stock ROM version, and thus which TnT development branch you're on. That way it's less risky when modding.

Info on Stock ROM

Been trying to find the most recent Stock Rom for the Galaxy tab 10.1.
Had rooted mine and tried a few Custom ROMS which three kept rebooting and the 4th one by TASK (latest one) was great then kept slowing down to the point apps just crash. Did a restore to my backup that I did right after applying root, and didnt keep any of the original stock roms apps like task manager and weather widget.
Not thrilled about how when you save a ROM it doesnt save the apps too, or at least when you put another ROM on it removes the other apps. Either way.
Looking for the download for Stock Rom.
*Note, I will root the Tab again, is there a way to install stock ROM and still keep root so I dont have to do it all over again?
There are LOADS of stock roms, my friend. Take a look over the forum.
Or samfirmware.com
Can hardly help you more since you provide no info at all on what model you have;
7500, 7510.. wifi or 3G.. country.. languages you need...
Okay... So can anyone else provide me a link for a wifi only version, forum perusing in this massive site will be a huge pain.
