I was flashing a metamorph file today but it froze and restarted my phone. Now my phone just restarts, get a fc saying com.android.phone has stopped and instantly restarts. Ive tried entering recovery but my phone is hardware locked and is not recognized by the computer, odin or adb. Not sure what i can do because im not able to do anything on the phone it just keeps restarting. only had the phone about 20days....

It was a link to the Q&A forum, this forum is for development and new ideas.
On topic, you are ****ed. T-mobile might exchange it.
I work at a corporate T-Mobile store, they will exchange but they charge you $130 plus shipping if they find its rooted.

That's really your only option if you're positive that you are hardware locked and cannot get into odin/recovery. I have read somewhere if you go into adb and spam "adb shell" while its booting up, some people have had success connecting if they were quick and got lucky. Never tested it myself.
Ya been trying for the past 4 hours
anyone else have any idea?
2 things...
1: People need to stop replying to these posts in the developer forum instead of Q&A, it only encourages them to do so
2: More people who respond to these in developers forum whether helping or flaming should check the Q&A thread more often. It is very frustrating to see someone get flamed for not posting in the right place and then in the same thread get help, while so many threads posted in the right place are ignored completely.

Just as title says. Ive tried all the fixes for it with no luck.
I dont really care for the trackball anyway, but I cant load roms without being able to scroll down.
Any suggestions xda community.
i had that problem like a week ago, didnt find any answers, i went to verizon and told them my trackball wasnt working and they were going to try and make me pay for another under my warranty,i told them that I read on many forums that it was a hardware issue and after they researched it they exchanged my phone for free.thats the only thing i can tell you to do. hopefully they can do it for you also.
It's the infamous trackball issue. I had ignored it until my came down with it a few months ago, it was around 6 months old. I called Verizon and got a replacement phone, they shouldn't charge you for anything. I couldn't see any other way around it, since I too am a rooted user. Good Luck!
i agree. its a known crappy trackball issue. call verizon and they should sent a replacement. there was an ruu that was an exe ran from your computer that should (someone correct me if i'm wrong) allow you to go back to stock on your eris if you are worried about the verizon people asking about your root. it was posted here, but i just looked and couldn't find it. trying to reup now. will edit this post with a link.
uploaded file http://www.multiupload.com/0B4EAQE25I fyi i'm not responsible if you brick your phone blah blah blah. i actually had nothing to do with writing the file, i just couldn't find it so i reposted it. it is an exe to run on a windows based computer with your eris attached via usb.

Here is a brutal hack from the Eris Root forum on AF.
I works, but you need to use adb from a PC, and be comfortable working at the command line.
bftb0
I actually sent my phone rooted with KaosFroyo on it and Verizon didn't say anything! I've heard of a handful of people that have done the same.
People have sent it back no problems, but if you're worried run the RUU.
I tried to root my phone using the regawmod process on my PC. i followed the steps until the first reboot…i put the debugging option on the phone when it rebooted because everything got wiped as it said it would and then the phone went completely black as if it was rebooting as it should..but never reloaded..i cant turn my phone on or anything..phone was charged to 65%..so i know it couldn’t have died that quick..What happened?? please help!
hmmmm....
not sure what to tell you man.
hold power button for a while, until you see it reboot... IF you see it reboot. should happen within ten seconds....
if you have root access..... download quickboot and try to boot into recovery.
we'll go from there.
also, plug device into comp and see if it detects it.
assuming you installed all drivers necessary and software packages from that thread, correct?
I did everything to the T...I tried to connect to the PC again and it did not detect the phone, and still wouldn't turn on..so i took it as a loss and took the phone back to the store and they gave me a new one because it wouldn't turn on...I appreciate the reply back.:good:
probably wasn't bricked, btw
This kind of makes me worry..... with what everybody has used, which would be considered the "best" to use? This is my work phone and I'm ok to root it and what-not; heck, I root my co-workers phones all the time so I'm no noob at all to this. Thanks!
I don't know what happened but I tried again, started with fresh files and it worked..I'm thinking one of the files got corrupted our wasnt being recognized by my PC...but now I'm enjoying my rooted phone!

Regaw is the best to use, I would say. This is the only case of this I've heard and I've followed the thread from day 1. A few did have it fail part way thru, but then just reran it and all went fine.
If you want S-off, there is the lazy panda method now. But I've seen way to many bricks on that thread to recommend it to anyone. But I guess they're also working constantly on a fix for those bricks and have had measured success (from what I've read).

Every one of your 4 posts have been negative on regaw's process and your experience...
Here is a little tip of advice for you that MIGHT lead you to getting actual valuable answers to your problem...
PM Regaw....I'd say post in his thread but you dont have 10 posts...
Regardless I can promise you that creating a new thread each time you try is NOT going to help your situation at all.
While installing ARHD 10.2 in CWM recovery Everything flashed fine and when i clicked reboot device I was promted to fix root. I clicked yes and then my device went into a bootloop. Is there a way to fix this without a computer so i can get back into recovery or do i have to use computer? I wont have access to my computer for several hours and the computer im on i cannot use for anything more than internet browsing. Also, if i do have to use a computer to correct this issue, what is the easiest way. I am using a mac.
try to reflash without fixing root and make sure your wiping cache and davlik

I would, but I can't access recovery. When I try the CWM symbol flashes and then phone enters bootloop. This is the problem. If I could access recovery then I'd be fine and could either restore Nandroid or reflash ARHD.
I also see an option for 'Reboot Bootloader' in the fastboot menu. What does this do?

Alright. Do I need to use my computer that has the Fastboot and adb files or can I use any computer and simply type that into a command prompt?

I'm sorry... What?
I have only made 3 threads recently and all were for very different reasons. And I only made them after extensively searching for the answers else where. If you would prefer not to help because you feel I'm some how doing something wrong then that is perfectly fine.

Actually the rule is-
5. Post a message only once.
As a large forum we don't need unnecessary clutter, You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time, it might take a while before you receive an answer.

as in only one thread per question/issue. I had 3 separate question/issues and only made 1 thread for each. I have never made a duplicate thread and never intend to. I don't know if you simply interpreted the rule in a different way, but I am very positive that I am not breaking any rules here. I do thank you for your concern, however next time maybe you could voice it differently or simply send me a PM.

No it is generally accepted around here that you don't need to make three separate threads. And I don't see how I should voice it differently considering nothing I said was hostile in any form

I never claimed that you said or did anything hostile. I simply said that you could have voiced it differently and then I continued to say next time you could simply send me a quick PM saying something like "Hey, I know your new here and having a little trouble with rooting and flashing, however we prefer that you only make one thread in which you can ask all your questions and issues that way it stays easy to navigate through the forums" I can tell you from personal experience that would have worked much better. All I'm asking now is that you realize this entire situation could been handled differently and gone in a different direction. I understand what your saying and next time I will try to remember your suggestion. Now if you could try to understand what I'm saying that would be awesome. Then we can forget this entire thing happened and continue to enjoy these forums and the purpose they serve.
Hey guys, I recently came into a Samsung galaxy s2 from work. The prolblem is the guy who gave it to me, gave it to me because he went to restore it and locked it up at a Google confirmation screen on setup and he doesn't remember the employees email used to set it up. He basically threw it on my desk and said if you can get it back running it's yours so I figured why not.
It's a Verizon model of some sort but without getting it up I've got no idea on the specifics. I downloaded odin but it's been a while using anything other than for Google branded devices and I'm not sure what files or Roms to download for this thing to even attempt rooting/cfw'ing without possibly bricking it out.
Any help would be appreciated, it's actually a nice little beater tablet to have.
Thanks in advance
I've already attempted googling for about a week+ with no luck

If you're asking how to bypass Factory Reset Protection, that is against the rules here. We can't discuss this topic here on this forum, sorry.

Sorry honestly did not know, I'll just try and do some research more online and see if I can figure out what images from Odin or what I'll have to dump on the thing it's legitimately from my job this is not a stolen device or anything of that nature.
Thanks anyway guys
Hi all,
I am completely stuck with this, I couldnt get any wifi it wouldnt turn on and when I did it just turned off again. It also wont read my sim card and randomly restarts.
I tried factory resetting but its now just stuck getting me through the android setup and needs internet in order for me to register the account that I previously used on the phone, otherwise it wont let me pass. It wont turn on wifi still and still doesnt register my sim card.
Please help as I have been trying this for hours and Im honestly at the end of my rope.
Cheers,
Evan
