I flashed a different battery icon via clockwork but i flashed it from the download folder instead of the root of the sd...now it seems to not load up giving me an error forceclose twiz not loading and it just force closes..i can boot into recovery tho but i just need help resolving this issue..
you probably flashed a battery icon mod that wasn't compatible with your rom. what rom are you running, and what battery icon mod did you flash?
I agree. It doesn't matter where the file is located when you flash it. It can be hidden in 20 different directories. There's something wrong with the file itself or its not compatible.
stock rom rooted...and it was Orb Battery v2 (JI2) - Clockwork - signed.zip
Perhaps the JI2 v2 mod isn't compatable with the stock JFD? Try flashing a mod specific to JFD? Version 1 I'd assume.

so i just bought a vibrant with firmware 2.1 update 1 and the build ends with ji6.
i was able to root the device with no problems and now that i installed rom manager i cant seem to install clockwork recovery. every time i click on it on rom manager noting happens. Is there another way for me to install clockwork recovery ? i searched everywhere. please any help would be most appreciated
i had the same problem yesterday, ROM manager pretty much just downloads an update.zip file, so when you hit reinstall packages it takes you to CWM... well i have the newest version of the update.zip file i could find (still outdated).... but after you flash a new ROM the clockwork mod should be installing fine, it did for me..
so i attached the update.zip file that i found.. so just put this in your sd card (not in any files), delete any update.zip files you may have and then rename this to update .... it will automatically turn to update.zip... then just reboot into recovery then hit reinstall packages -- then it should work
wow thanks that did the job.now it if isnt a much of a bother but can i flash to a custom mod 2.2 axura and then unlock? cause the unlocker cant seem to find a unlock code
i currently flashed a theme from the 19000 section because im using simply honey revo.. before the latest update came there was a theme on the 19000 section thats called the leyend.. i flashed it and it was workin pretty good and when the new update came i tryed to flash the theme again and it flashed it but my phone keeps rebooting ann i wana go bak to the original theme but i dont want to re flash the whole rom so is there Anyway to remove that theme using CWM recovery mode??
if you had made a nandroid back up prior to flashing the theme you could just use cwm to revert/restore your nandroid. another solution would be to make a flashable zip from the rom you are using, n flash the frameworks folder back that should restore functionality but it cant be gauranteed.
I am new to modding my vibrant (phone is rooted but that's all) but looking to flash a new ROM. I dl'd rom manager and installed cwr. When I reboot into recovery mode via rommanager or manually doing it,I do not get the prompt to backup. Only options I get are to reboot system, reinstall packages, delete all user data, delete cache data, and format internal sd-card. Anyone know how to fix this? I just updated to 2.2 froyo UVKB5 kernel 2.6.32.9 if that helps.
looks like you have stock recovery.
try reinstall packages, might take a couple times..
or install CWM via replacing update.zip
What he said, yeah.
So just delete the current update.zip file on my phone and replace it with a new one? Any links to download the update.zip file?
Sometimes you have to Reinstall Packages twice for it to go from regular recovery to CWR. If you flash a custom ROM though, most have a custom recovery built in.
If you have to replace the update.zip (which I don't think that you do), this worked for me the first time I rooted.

How to Root.
I am rooted, but I want to back everything up so that way if I do not like the new custom rom I can go back. I tried reinstalling the update.zip file from the link but s till have the same issue. Any other solutions besides going back to stock and going from there? And if I did go back to stock, would I lose everything?
I backed up using Titanium Backup, is that the same as going into recovery mode and backing up?
Re-download recovery using ROM Manager, then repeat. Worked when I had a similar issue.
Tried that several times. I also reuploaded the update file and reinstalled the package several times. Still no luck so I think I might go back to stock using Odin.
Then DL Eugenes froyo don't brick ROM with the 2e recovery update in it, then re-install packages, maybe twice and you'll have the green recovery menu your seeking
Googled Eugene's DL and I do not feel to confident with it. Is it supposed to fix the issue with getting into recovery mode?
So I went back to stock last night using Odin, upgraded to 2.2, and rooted using Superoneclick. Phone's back up and running but faster than the first time I upgraded to 2.2. I still have the issue getting into the proper recover to install the zip file. I've read that deleting Slacker helped some people, assuming it freed up space on the System ROM. My system ROM was full until I started to delete some apps. I now have 20.7 MB free. Could not enough System ROM space be the issue?
I am now also getting a "Fail" attempt when I try and update su saying that it failed to find currently installed su binary. Any advice on fixing this?
TIA!!!
it would probably be easier to just odin back to stock jfd and then flash a deodexed kb5 build thats rooted with SU already in it from here in the forums.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036193&highlight=deodexed
If you flashed kb5 from kies or odin and don't want to reinstall the rom then you will need to flash a modified 3e recovery because you probably are not quite rooted and won't be able to use CWM until you flash the modified 3e recovery...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423
You might want to check out the AIO vibrant toolbox (pinned topic in the development thread) it will give you big easy buttons and instructions to flash back to jfd and root and flash a new rom if you need to... It comes with Odin so you can wander into the install folder and fire up Odin to flash the modified 3e recovery if you decide to go that route too.
If I flash a deodexed kb5 will i still be able to flash a custom rom?
Okay, around last month I've been discovering the many different customizations of Miui. I've stumbled upon Miui's extended settings mod and have been trying to get it onto my phone. I've downloaded the .apk, but I also need to get another file on to make extended settings work. The only way to do that is to get onto Clockwork recovery. Every time I go to recovery I get Miui's included Glitch kernel CMW-based recovery. I want to get to Clockwork Recovery. I've tried Odin and ROM Manager, but nothing is working.
I've tried to get the .zip file to work on Glitch Kernel CWM but I always get installation aborted.
I'm sorry, but I'm incredible new at all of this and just need a lot of help.
P.S. I'm probably trying to get clockworkmod on odin wrong, and when I try to do it on ROM Manager it says something about not having official supported clockworkmod and if I installed it manually.
Glitchs recovery should work for flashing any zip that's for mtd...you shouldn't need to install another recovery...not sure why its aborting install. maybe its a bad download?
The extended settings also requires some changes to the framework, I'm assuming you downloaded the correct .zip for your release and are flashing the entire zip, not just installing the extended settings.apk?

Yes, I downloaded the correct .zip that it wants me to, but it get installation aborted.
Do I possibly need to change frameworks maybe? I have no clue!
I have installed CPU analyser, and with stock ROM I think the slowest it goes is 300mhz, WIth a modded ROM it slows down to 110mhz. So I'd like to use modded kernel with stock ROM (I've found no ROM's to be as quick or stable as stock)
Is it possible to have stock LK1 firmware, but with rafa's modded kernel? My procedure is
1) Recover LD1 firmware with ODIN
2) Reboot update LK1 in KIES
3) add super user. Boots, make calls etc
4) Apply kernel and modules. Boot and lost IEMI. I have tried restoring IEMI from my backup in galaxy toolbox, rebooted. But it still doesn't work.
Am I doing something wrong, or does the stock ROM not support modded kernel/modules in anyway?
Also if I do get it working, do I need some kind of CPU/battery saver or are the routines built into the kernel, no other apps are needed? I tried one app, it seems to work but it keeps on popping up with a message that it's using superuser priv, so it's quite annoying.
flash modules of kernel after flashing the kernel without rebooting in between!
this way u won't loose imei!!
whenever superuser permission message come up, there's an option below to remember the choice, click it and then message won't appear again!
ah so flash kernel, then modules without rebooting? I'm pretty sure a couple of guides say flash kernel, reboot (go straight back into recovery) then flash modules.
which specific (filename) kernel and modules to use with stock LK1 ROM?
201303051129-E3-boot.img
and
201303051129-modules
did that, emergency calls only! arggh
Try flashing modules after reboot.. Flashing modules should solve imei problem!
