You have to learn from the ground up, there is no magic site teaching you how to but there are plenty of resources, checkout Chef Central and read some of the stickied topics

Sense Based Froyo??

Hey all, This is a shot in the dark but I am going to ask anyway. Is there a rom out with froyo that is sense based??
No.

Post questions in the Q & A section instead of starting a useless thread please, it would be appreciated by the mods and community.

Not yet, I think most people are waiting for another HVGA phone to get Froyo (ie HTC Legend) in the hopes that one of the devs would port it. I guess for now it's just a waiting game, but also remember that the Eris section has Questions and Answers subforum so please feel free to use it

Why is that people can be so corny on xda
Some people especially if they are new have a tendancy to over look where it says questions and answers and go straight in to eris android development which a froyo sense based rom could fall under android development??? He asked a simple question instead of coming off like a **** with a **** bag response "useless thread" why don't you try being a little polite and helpful being a senior member and guide the dude in the right direction nicely.... Yo dude not everybody is perfect and some people on 1st glance can over look something, lighten up a little bit!!!!! xda has a bad rep for people being so douschie, that was the perfect example!!!
I agree, I thought he was being a **** myself

Developing a Sense-based Froyo ROM would go in the development forum. Asking if one exists ? Nope...
I apologize if I came off as a '****', I too am guilty of 'useless posts', though when I joined I don't recall there being a Q & A section at least
In the XDA app considering that's all I use. Either way, I'm sorry but there isn't really a need to be throwing names around and what not.
As far as helping, you didn't. You instead took your time to point out all of what I did and or didn't. At least I told him where to go regardless of how I did so.

On that XDA app, in settings what is SFR Support?
The question is valid but since it is not development related and is a question it should belong in Q & A (which is why I moved it).

Eugene373 makes some pretty good roms, look in the development section. The latest one is the hybrid, no touchwiz at all, just a hint of it in the ui.

I'll agree Eugene's ROMs are awesome....I am on V9 with JAC 1.2 kernel.

I guess when they are done by the developers that are creating them, or you could take up the task yourself and contribute to the community.
I think there is PLENTY of discussion about 2.2 and roms for the Vibrant please do some searching before creating yet another thread about this, we have beat this topic to death we are all in the same boat!
running eugene's Hybrid R3 and lagfix. Runs great, gets rid of most touch wiz. Only way I would be happier is if it was based on 2.2 but in time that will come too.

this is the q&a section. IMO any question is fair game, even if its been discussed ad nauseum in the other sections.

I too thought about this after posting but even if this is a Q&A section, why ask the same question over and over? Do you feel you will get a different answer after asking the 5th time?

Rom Development

Hi. I've been flashing custom roms for awhile. And interested of creating my own vibrant roms. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Is there a website I can goto that would allow me to do that. Thanks.

I saw in his thread - [KERNEL]Dragonmodz(smartass) - that ECOTOX is doing a team/collaboration/kumbaya sorta deal with his ROM. You could probably PM him and jump on board with that if ya want to, might be a good start.
I'd check out other forums on XDA like the main Android Dev Forum and Chef Central. Lot's of info in there.

Where would a nubbin start digging around for dev education?

Hey guys,
Just curious, what kind of research would a nubbin do to start looking at pitching in on Rom development? I've an interest and would like to support the community. Have some knowledge programming, not much, but pick it up quickly.
Best,
Clock
There are quite a few tutorials in the development thread.

I have been looking as well. What I am really looking for is how to compile a ROM and Kernel from source. With ICS source out, that is what I really want to do.
Nubbin?
nubĀ·bin [nuhb-in]
noun
1.a small lump or stunted piece; stub.
For android application development, There is no better forum then anddev.org.
For ROM Dev, xda-developers and rootzwiki.
Google searching is your friend Don't be afraid to use it

Android Development

Since this is the android development Q and A section, i believe im in the right place, correct me if im wrong.
just have a question for rom developers, themers and just android development in general.
i have a pretty good idea about compiling and decompiling apks and customizing roms by reading some forums and searching. I know android has tutorials that explain how to do different things.
Also TheNewBoston literally has 200 videos about android development.
How/ where did you you learn android development and making roms/apps?
Sent from my YP-G70 using xda app-developers app
I'm not a developer or anything, I vaguely understand the Android SDK, but I'm learning using the Training articles on developers.android.com. They're really helpful in understanding some basic stuff!
