I was using Root Explorer and got a little carried away when I was deleting the bloat. Is there anyway I can get the stock calendar back? I also mistakenly deleted the alarm app as well. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Howdy Folks,
If [when] I go with one of the "ROM's" (i.e. GreyBlur/GladiAtrix/GingerBlur) if I should desire to go back to the phone's stock ROM how would I go about doing so? Is that just a matter of a factory reset, or do I need to take another approach?
I'm also assuming I would need to do so to update the phone?
Thanks for the help!

Thank you!! By the way, what in the world does SBF stand for?
System boot file?
So back on this topic, can't I just recover back to stock by going into recovery mode (a la http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966648)? Or would one of these ROM's modify the files that such a recovery mode uses and therefore make it not an option?
EDIT: and now I've come across this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038063&highlight=cwm
So can I somehow backup a copy of my phone's OS to restore to? That would be ideal.
I'm not familiar at all with this clockworkmod thing. Sorry I know these are probably stupid questions but everyone has to learn for the first time at some point. Thanks folks for the help.
Sorry for the bump but I'm trying to get this answered. This is the last thing I wanted to find out before I root / install a ROM.
Hello all, I hope anyone can help me on this.
I installed P3Droid's Pre-rooted Gingerbread ROM on my lovely baby three days ago and haven't ran into any issues until now.
1. If I try to open a contacts card the whole dialer/contacts app force closes, and this happens every time.
2. I don't know if this is an ROM problem or an app problem but Root Explorer also force closes upon launch ever time.
If you have an idea to the solution to either issue please do reply back.
Thanks in advance.
Before you updated to 2.3.3 did you sbf and factory reset? After you updated did you factory reset again? Did you freeze any bloatware? What root apps are you using?
And just fyi p3s file is just a rooted ota update, not a rom really

I have the same probelm, i had it on 2.2.2, use go contacts
Ahh, thanks for the Rom or OTA thing. I did SBF and factory reset before updating but I can't remember if i factory reset after updating. I actually uninstalled all of the bloatware if thats what your asking.
You probably removed blur_yahoo or another app that has dependencies in contacts. Check the app bloat list.

I am running on rooted T mob. ROM and need to uninstall the applications, probablly called bloatwares, came with stock ROm. Because I am ouside US and some applications are not useful.
Can someone suggest how to remove those applications?
Does it help me to get more free RAM after removing stock bloatware?
Please advise.

use titanium backup, remember to back up before uninstalling.
there are other apps that remove system apps too, but titanium is the most widely used.
Thanks for the reply.
Titanium warned me that it will tweak recovery and remove it. Is there any precaution require..just asking because I m new to modify rooted roms!!

You just need to make sure that the bloatware you're removing is not needed by the phone.
Freezing the wrong thing with Titanium could cause your phone's other functions to stop working.
Just go one by and one and see if it affects anything.
If it doesn't than you're safe. Move on to the next one.
Hi everyone
As the title suggests i deleted my stock clock using sytemnapp remover. When i try to set an alarm using S-voice it says "sorry i couldnt save it"(i did click make backups but they are nowhere to be seen) I was hoping that someone here could help me out here. Im using a UK vodafone branded S3
Android version 4.1.2
build number JZ054K.I9300XXELL5
Vodafone Uk
If someone could help me out i would be so damn grateful. Thanks for your time
Steve
Are you running custom rom? If so reboot into recovery and restore your last backup which should return clock. Otherwise I would recommend you flash or reflash stock firmware, which should return all system apps, as this will probably unroot phone after flashing you will have to re root. Guides are available by searching xda or google it. Good luck

Hi there, this is how i fixed my alarm problem
firstly download the clock apk relavent to your phone, i think that there are 3 different ones provided in this thread.
Secondly you need to download something from the play store called "Rom toolbox pro" its £3 but if you ask in the forums here someone can probably point you to a free one that does the same thing.
make sure your phone is rooted, install and run Rom toolbox pro. click on Root Browser, navigate to where you put the APK on your phone, copy and move it to root/system/app. Once you have moved the apk find it in the app folder, click and hold it for a couple of seconds. A menu should popup with options, click on "permissions" set them so they are like this. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2pphiyo&s=6 If you are using a different app you will need to set your permissions accordingly, yet again im sure there is someone on here clever enough to help with that.
Now just restart your phone, the APK will run on boot.
These are the exact steps i followed and they worked for me as the pic demonstrates. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2h353dl&s=6
I hope you have the same luck
Steve
The update downloaded itself overnight and I'm tired of looking at the notification. I'm currently away from home for work and have no access to a computer. Does anyone know the file directory where the update downloads to so I can just manually delete it? I'm on a galaxy s4 model SCH-I545, baseband I545VRUEMK2, kernel 3.4.0. I'm not the greatest at this so I'm sorry if I left out needed details.

The update zip is stored in /cache/fota/OTAPkg.zip
If you can freeze the SDM app it won't try to install it or re-download it.
Thanks, I cant boot to system thought. It goes straight to bootloader trying to dl/install.
Is it as simple as going into Titanium Backup and freezing the app SDM? I found it in there and froze it. I hope it was that easy!

Yup you can freeze FWupgrade too but sdm should be enough.

Wow. I have been putting up with that stupid update seems like a month, but I'm sure just a couple of weeks. I love TB. I bought it and use it one every single rooted device I have. Which is a lot! LOL!!!
